Momodora: Moonlit Farewell presents the account of the greatest calamity to befall the village of Koho, five years after the events of Momodora III. Once the toll of an ominous bell is heard, the village is soon threatened by a demon invasion.

The village's matriarch sends Momo Reinol, their most capable priestess, to investigate the bell and find the bellringer responsible for summoning demons. Although unpretentious and somewhat lacking in content, Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is a very balanced and satisfying game. The animation and quality of the sprites elevate the game to another level, well above the others of the same series. In addition to being a feast for the eyes, it is also very entertaining in its short duration.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is a great Metroidvania that nails the basics of the genre while offering an unforgettably stylish world.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is a 2D metroidvania that does a bit of everything well but struggles to excite.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is a modest but worthy farewell to a series that has always been humble. The concise campaign focuses on what works and gets straight to the point, with a good pace of exploration and progression, but its basic metroidvania mechanics fail to impress, both in the simplistic traversal abilities and in the merely satisfactory combat. Fortunately, the aesthetics refine the visuals with good effects, making this a game that, despite being unpretentious, is fun, enjoyable and very beautiful.
