Each of the Marvel Heroes has their own abilities that come in the form of cards you can upgrade or unlock entirely new ones with in game resources. The idea is to create some synergies between your three active Heroes to obliterate/control the enemy and complete the objective. This is the fun part. The other side of the coin, however, might dampen your experience.

You'll have to hang out, give gifts, go on little dates (No romance here) in order to get yoyr friendship levels up and unlock some passives for the group. This takes a lot longer to go through than your battles do and some would say that dialogue between characters is rather cringey. I found it tolerable albeit a little tedious 40 hours in. You could always ignore this for the most part and do the bare minimum to progress the main campaign but you'll be missing out on cosmetics if you do.

The Story is nothing to write home about but will leave you invested enough to want to see it through. It's a breath of fresh air from the MCU as well since they decided to give The Runaways some of the spotlight.

Graphically the game looks gorgeous, from the environments to the costumes, the music was great and the sound effects were on point. The battles felt impactful and fast paced.

If you enjoy Marvel, games like Xcom, Slay The Spire and Fire Emblem you'll definitely enjoy Marvel's Midnight Suns.

A história não me prendeu, pois é bastante simples.

Excesivamente largo.

    but thats where it stops because this game is abysmal in just about everything. Who okay'd these character designs? all them look generic , no creativity and straight out of a ps3 era game with little to no detail or complex animations, somehow the ground looks passable for a Ps5 game in many areas along with the slideshows shown between loading areas and the ingame battle area looks passable but outside the combat area mainly the abby the game besides the ground and wall textures look very bad with some props and character with not ps5 lvl detail of polygons at all, and the main characters run, walk, fall animations, look very bad and unpolished ; its as if this game was rushed out to please the shareholders because it looks like it needed at last 2 more years in development to polish some of the bugs that 6 months into the game theres some very common bugs like your main character moving static when interacting with some menus somehow , getting stuck on the dog and being unable to move if he spawns right on you because he tends to follow you around the abby area for some reason but you can def outpace the ai where he stops following you ;

the social media aspect was very annoying to deal with sometimes with text you'd see from a 9 yr old ; Cringe dialogue your constantly fed in the Superlink , alot of the cutscenes you just begin skipping because the dialogue is so bad and its cutscene after cutscene, there is cutscene that plays after every battle as well when your forced to rest,

why design a rpg type system when the enemies scale with you and outnumber you 5-1 ratio? you only get 3 heroes that all share the same atb guage and every round enemies constantly get 3+ reinforcements forcing you to play offensively and quickly take out enemies before they become too numerous before you can complete the objective, , its a card based system so sometimes you can be screwed out of attacking cards or get cards that require cost so effectively costing you the game or skipping allowing another round of reinforcements to build up, then theres the ingame out of battle semi-permanant injuries you randomly get from ANY attack that causes your characters unable to do missions, start the battle with 50% less hp, take 50% damage and it can take the game ingame 3 days which is a big deal for it to clear only to go into another mission and get the same debuff right after

other than that the combat is creative for what its worth and adds some value to the game but many of the issues are pretty jarring this is a Triple - AAA game in 2023

There's also a lot of it.

I've played around seven or so missions, and on Day 5, but gave up. The gameplay style of the cards isn't to my forte/can be too complex. How do you line up foes? Wish you were able to move more than once per turn. Also it'd be nice if I could edit my deck to mainly be attack cards instead of "marking enemies," etc. Once again it's just not my style of gameplay/gaming. Also why do reinforcements keep on spawning for every mission, no matter the objective? Not a fan. Finally the plot seems to be very incohesive.

First Impression: Pleasantly surprised on how good this game is. The graphics are better in combat which is weird, but the combination of Marvel Universe and XCom is better than I ever expected. I’m not a big fan of the male protagonist but after he gets more costumes it works. For me this is a rare game that the more I play it the more I like it.

Awesome game! At its core it's a card- and turn-based tactical battler using a stable of Marvel heroes in which each of your heroes has their own mini-deck of cards that get put in a common pool for each battle/mission. However, people mentioning the Persona flavoring are right on--if you're not interested in that social RPG aspect then a fair amount of the game's content won't seem fun. But if you like that stuff this game has a great social system that adds a nice mix of humor and drama, especially if you know enough about the Marvel characters to bring some context to the table. Character customization is based mostly on card selection but cards can be customized in a small way and the game rewards really understanding the mechanics and experimenting with good combos both within and across hero decks.

The review-bombing Midnight Suns has received is completely unwarranted. I've played a lot of tactical mobile games and this isn't one. And, if you don't like turn-based or deck-based games then that's your preference, not the game's fault. If you do like either or both of those genres the content is solid and the overall arc of the game is compelling. The only reason I'm not giving a 10 is that there are some glitches that got on my nerves a little bit. However, I will be buying the DLC which is the best recommendation you can give.

I was really hesitant about this game since I'm not a big XCOM guy and even though I am a huge Marvel comics fan I hate what Disney has done to the brand in recent years. After looking the game over seeing it was mainly a card game and that most of the recent "modern" Marvel characters didn't seem to be present I decided to give it a try. I'm happy to say I've had a really fun time with this game and its kept me occupied for a good while.

The game basically comes down to two parts. There is the part where you hang out at the base as kind of a friend buddy simulator. I feel like this is the part people will either like or find annoying and hate. I generally liked this part even though its full or cringe dialogue and dumb hang outs its kinda fun still hanging out with some of my favorite Marvel characters. I guess I more found it hilarious you could go bird watching with Blade, but I can see why people hate this part of the game.

The second part is the card game part where you essentially play a card around one of your Marvel characters they act it out and you go back and forth with either Hydra or some supernatural enemy until the game is over. It's definitely less detailed and simpler than XCOM, but I still had fun with it so that might tell you whether its up your alley or not.

As far as the roster goes its pretty good. Venom and Deadpool are unfortunately stuck behind a DLC paywall which is kinda bogus although Venom can be an enemy in the game. Most of the micro transactions are cosmetics, but still kinda **** they're there I guess thanks 2K. You do get a lot of the classics upfront Spider-Man, Wolverine, Dr. Strange, Captain America and Iron Man. Some you have to unlock and you get some good characters that are less traditional like Magik and Blade. There is the Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider which is ok hes the least annoying of the "modern era" characters and Captain Marvel is in the game, but less cringy than in the modern comics and movies I found. Nico is probably the most annoying character in the game from the mediocre Runaways series. Fortunately the game as far as I can see doesn't have the absolute cringe characters like Riri Williams and Kamala Khan.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics: Game looks very dated and feels like the resources in this department were not well spent
Gameplay: You get to control only three characters, and every mission gets repetitive quickly on top of it, they added too much unnecessary gameplay like the free roaming that pointless, I often fall asleep playing this game because it feels like a chore and the story is very bland, not an XComm game at all, would have been awesome if it was with marvel characters but sadly not the case, no move movements and the card system is whack, sometimes you have to reload a previous save file because a character who you brought along might not be even able to play
Overall: money wasted, if this was idk $10 game I can see sure, but at the price tag of $70 which more than likely I probably won't advance more than chapter 2, this game is chore and boring to play, I don't get the vibe of XComm, I don't get the vibe of good strategy game, the story is weak, the graphics are weak worse than marvel avengers, card system coupled with you only get three characters to play on any mission on top of enemies can have unlimited adds, makes the game whack

The game play loop is addicting as you level both your research level and training level it add so many more options in missions where even late game missions with the right team I can wipe out the entire field in one turn which is very satisfying. The life sim is also fun if you like the characters but I've found thay some parts over stay their welcome and can become tedious with all the things you're supposed to do between missions. The best part is thay just about everything is worth doing for the various rewards you can get for side activities. Building up friendship with heroes in turn makes them stronger. The legendary skill cards alone are worth maxing out the friendship of all your heroes. Each character is very unique in your mechanics with a lot of diversity. Marvel’s Midnight Suns has many of the elements that would make it a great special event story – it carries off its pulpy narrative pretty well despite the bland protagonist, and the combat is a competent adaptation of superhero action into a strategy format. However, the slow pacing of the narrative and battles, not to mention the wrong-headed approach to the home base and team building make Midnight Suns feel disjointed and torpid. This is one special event that won’t become a collectible.

Midnight Suns is a complete package created with passion and love, and that's why it stands out from many lifeless Marvel releases we've seen lately. It oozes substance, which is why not many will focus on the relatively weak visuals and technical problems.
