Persona social simulation + XCOM combat + the edgier side of Marvel. This alone will tell you if you'll love it or hate it. Some of the animations might be goofy and the male Hunter is particularly cringe, but the core gameplay loop is magnificent. Like you're kicking so much ass, the game is in shock.

The only legitimate gripe I have is that one of the bigger twists towards the end was spoiled in the Midnight Suns shorts pre-release. Doesn't kill anything, but made for a very confusing reveal since I watched all the shorts before playing.

It is a great game that I immediately replayed in NG+ to see all the other morality choices and hear the other gender Hunter's lines.

This is an awesome and addicting game. I thought for sure I'd be more into the RPG/Exploration aspect but instead I fell in love with the card combat system! I thought for sure I'd be more into the RPG/Exploration aspect but instead I fell in love with the card combat system! I spent HOURS upon HOURS just doing side missions before I even continued most of the main story.

For those complaining about 'microtransactions'... first, they're completely cosmetic and most are not even worthy of using IMO. Second, I purchased the "Legendary" version and received ALL the cosmetics so I don't even have to worry about microtransactions.

For those complaining about stutters and crashes... they ARE still working on fixes. When will people realize that initial release of ANY games always comes with some bugs and problems. A developer cannot account for each and every graphics card, CPU, memory and motherboard combination. Thankfully I'm on PS5, and have not had ANY stuttering, BUT, I have had crashes- most notably when using the 'continue activity' feature... even after the last patch supposedly fixed it. Ended up with a 'save data' error that keeps popping up whenever I end my turn and the enemy starts to attack.

Overall, I am HOPING there is a sequel because I think they did an awesome job and I want to see a future for the Hunter. The voice acting for all the characters (except for the male Hunter) was awesome, the male Hunter voice was just very stilted and unemotional- like a robot.

The only negative I can mention (other than the previously noted PS5 'continue activity' crashes and poor male Hunter voice acting) is the New Game+ mode. They really should allow us to choose whether to keep our card abilities or not. It really deincentivizes using NG+ because you cannot EVER upgrade both light and dark cards (Annihilation/Summon Charlie) because it would be a 400 point swing from full one to full other. Further, all the mods you spent so much time acquiring are GONE. There is absolutely NO REASON to ever do NG+ IMO because of how much you lose just to do it. As I said, they really need to change this and give you the option to keep your cards or start over completely. Otherwise, it's an awesome game that I HIGHLY recommend.

A história não me prendeu, pois é bastante simples.

After looking the game over seeing it was mainly a card game and that most of the recent "modern" Marvel characters didn't seem to be present I decided to give it a try. I'm happy to say I've had a really fun time with this game and its kept me occupied for a good while.

The game basically comes down to two parts. There is the part where you hang out at the base as kind of a friend buddy simulator. I feel like this is the part people will either like or find annoying and hate. I generally liked this part even though its full or cringe dialogue and dumb hang outs its kinda fun still hanging out with some of my favorite Marvel characters. I guess I more found it hilarious you could go bird watching with Blade, but I can see why people hate this part of the game.

The second part is the card game part where you essentially play a card around one of your Marvel characters they act it out and you go back and forth with either Hydra or some supernatural enemy until the game is over. It's definitely less detailed and simpler than XCOM, but I still had fun with it so that might tell you whether its up your alley or not.

As far as the roster goes its pretty good. Venom and Deadpool are unfortunately stuck behind a DLC paywall which is kinda bogus although Venom can be an enemy in the game. Most of the micro transactions are cosmetics, but still kinda **** they're there I guess thanks 2K. You do get a lot of the classics upfront Spider-Man, Wolverine, Dr. Strange, Captain America and Iron Man. Some you have to unlock and you get some good characters that are less traditional like Magik and Blade. There is the Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider which is ok hes the least annoying of the "modern era" characters and Captain Marvel is in the game, but less cringy than in the modern comics and movies I found. Nico is probably the most annoying character in the game from the mediocre Runaways series. Fortunately the game as far as I can see doesn't have the absolute cringe characters like Riri Williams and Kamala Khan.

The game play loop is addicting as you level both your research level and training level it add so many more options in missions where even late game missions with the right team I can wipe out the entire field in one turn which is very satisfying. The life sim is also fun if you like the characters but I've found thay some parts over stay their welcome and can become tedious with all the things you're supposed to do between missions. The best part is thay just about everything is worth doing for the various rewards you can get for side activities. Building up friendship with heroes in turn makes them stronger. The legendary skill cards alone are worth maxing out the friendship of all your heroes. Each character is very unique in your mechanics with a lot of diversity. But if you like that stuff this game has a great social system that adds a nice mix of humor and drama, especially if you know enough about the Marvel characters to bring some context to the table. Character customization is based mostly on card selection but cards can be customized in a small way and the game rewards really understanding the mechanics and experimenting with good combos both within and across hero decks.

The review-bombing Midnight Suns has received is completely unwarranted. I've played a lot of tactical mobile games and this isn't one. And, if you don't like turn-based or deck-based games then that's your preference, not the game's fault. If you do like either or both of those genres the content is solid and the overall arc of the game is compelling. The only reason I'm not giving a 10 is that there are some glitches that got on my nerves a little bit. However, I will be buying the DLC which is the best recommendation you can give.

I was skeptical about a Marvel game not called Spiderman after Avengers came out but the X-COM style tactical combat is refreshing and ever-engaging, after 30 hours I still find the combat fun personally

Fantastic. Enjoying even more than XCOM. Haven't been hooked on a game as much as this one in a long time. Love the pacing.

Marvel's Midnight Suns was a novel game that quite surprised me in how fun it's core gameplay loop was. Essentially it's a turn based strategy deck builder.

Each of the Marvel Heroes has their own abilities that come in the form of cards you can upgrade or unlock entirely new ones with in game resources. The idea is to create some synergies between your three active Heroes to obliterate/control the enemy and complete the objective. This is the fun part. The other side of the coin, however, might dampen your experience.

You'll have to hang out, give gifts, go on little dates (No romance here) in order to get yoyr friendship levels up and unlock some passives for the group. This takes a lot longer to go through than your battles do and some would say that dialogue between characters is rather cringey. I found it tolerable albeit a little tedious 40 hours in. You could always ignore this for the most part and do the bare minimum to progress the main campaign but you'll be missing out on cosmetics if you do.

The Story is nothing to write home about but will leave you invested enough to want to see it through. It's a breath of fresh air from the MCU as well since they decided to give The Runaways some of the spotlight.

Graphically the game looks gorgeous, from the environments to the costumes, the music was great and the sound effects were on point. The battles felt impactful and fast paced.

If you enjoy Marvel, games like Xcom, Slay The Spire and Fire Emblem you'll definitely enjoy Marvel's Midnight Suns.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has many of the elements that would make it a great special event story – it carries off its pulpy narrative pretty well despite the bland protagonist, and the combat is a competent adaptation of superhero action into a strategy format. However, the slow pacing of the narrative and battles, not to mention the wrong-headed approach to the home base and team building make Midnight Suns feel disjointed and torpid. This is one special event that won’t become a collectible.

Saving the world involves more chatting than we expected, but by balancing combat with a hero houseshare, Firaxis has delivered one of the best Marvel games in years. [Issue#23, p.62]

Midnight Suns is a complete package created with passion and love, and that's why it stands out from many lifeless Marvel releases we've seen lately. It oozes substance, which is why not many will focus on the relatively weak visuals and technical problems.
