This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics: Game looks very dated and feels like the resources in this department were not well spent
Gameplay: You get to control only three characters, and every mission gets repetitive quickly on top of it, they added too much unnecessary gameplay like the free roaming that pointless, I often fall asleep playing this game because it feels like a chore and the story is very bland, not an XComm game at all, would have been awesome if it was with marvel characters but sadly not the case, no move movements and the card system is whack, sometimes you have to reload a previous save file because a character who you brought along might not be even able to play
Overall: money wasted, if this was idk $10 game I can see sure, but at the price tag of $70 which more than likely I probably won't advance more than chapter 2, this game is chore and boring to play, I don't get the vibe of XComm, I don't get the vibe of good strategy game, the story is weak, the graphics are weak worse than marvel avengers, card system coupled with you only get three characters to play on any mission on top of enemies can have unlimited adds, makes the game whack

I'll sum it up really quickly

The combat is engaging and fun and the card system really works, loved every moment The Social aspect is beyond tedious with terrible dialogue, cringey interactions and endless endless running from place to place collecting garbage when all you want to do is do the next battle I tried to just skip the social part but it's woven that deep Into the game it's

I DONT NEED TO PLAY **** MONOPOLY WITH BLADE OR PAINT MY NAILS WITH CAPTAIN MARVEL

I absolutely hate all aspects of the social stuff in this game. If this is your kind of thing, you’ll probably like this game. If you were looking for something more like X-com, this is not it. The combat is a dumbed down draw cards / play cards system. There’s no cover, and there’s hardly any movement or reason to move. Enemies typically reinforce the battle infinitely until you achieve an objective. Combat is not fun for me. If it was I might put up with skipping through the other half of the game - the after mission social stuff. But as it stands, I’m not finishing this. Expand

Really bad game, no repair, no defence, only attack mode. Nothing to explore, bad character editor..

What could’ve been a good game turns into an overhyped card game. Turn based games are boring at best. But this really takes the cake. They should’ve released it as a mobile game, as that’s what it looks and feels like

This game is a huge steaming pile of garbage. The greedy developers are charging $70 for a glorified card game. The gameplay is boring and repetitive. I expect these developers to work hard and put actual combat for $70, especially when their publisher 2K makes bank off their NBA games. The story is awful. The physics are beyond horrible.

There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is literally not a reason to play this game again. Charging $70 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. It's already bad enough that they charged $70 for a singleplayer only turn-based game, and now these greedy developers had the audacity to include microtransactions without multiplayer. Are you freaking kidding me? That's pathetic. Not even Sony is that greedy. There's no servers to maintain, meaning it's inexcusable to add MTX. I don't care if it's cosmetic only 2K, you either give me online or delist your stupid in-game currency off the PS store. I don't recommend this game at all. This outrageous greed makes me furious.

If you thought making the Marvel franchise into a card game sounded boring, you were right...This is a slow boring game, with some flashy animations, with the modern Troup of endless walk and terribly cringe dialogue thrown in.

For the lack of a Russian language! Ordinary people have nothing to do with it! You behave like fascists. Russian is spoken by 300 million people worldwide. Children can't learn the language so quickly or so quickly to read and translate playing the game! Reconsider your views and be more human! Developers of other games do not behave like this. Every game has and must have Russian!!!

Combat is okay but not a fan that outside of combat the only gameplay is walking around at the main hub world. Would be better with some exploration

It's not a bad game, but it's not necessarily a good game either. I wish I had done more research and looked at user reviews instead of critic reviews. While I love social aspects such as those in Persona, the social features here isn't exactly executed in the best way with the small font size (not sure how to make it bigger, if possible). There's also a lot of it.

I've played around seven or so missions, and on Day 5, but gave up. The gameplay style of the cards isn't to my forte/can be too complex. How do you line up foes? Wish you were able to move more than once per turn. Also it'd be nice if I could edit my deck to mainly be attack cards instead of "marking enemies," etc. Once again it's just not my style of gameplay/gaming. Also why do reinforcements keep on spawning for every mission, no matter the objective? Not a fan. Finally the plot seems to be very incohesive.

Hero Ops glitch makes me lose 12 hours of play.
WE DO NOT PAY THAT MUCH TO BE BETA TESTERS.
Advice, do not use Hero ops, The chance it will break your game is really high. I am pretty sure the QA team was nonexistent or really small. The game is good at its core but so much bug plague the game immensely. I really hope someday a law will be passed to block broken-ass games to be

I had high hopes for this game but it's just plain awful. The graphics look like a mobile game, the cutscenes barely run at 30 fps and are hard to watch, the dialogue, especially tony stark, is cringe beyond belief and impossible to listen to. The gameplay is really fun but it's such a disappointment that everything else gets in the way of Midnight Suns from being a great game.

I give it a 3 because it does manage to do some things right like lvl progression, unlock new abilities and perks and items you can use in battle so yes the combat system is complex enough to where you want to keep playing

    but thats where it stops because this game is abysmal in just about everything. Who okay'd these character designs? all them look generic , no creativity and straight out of a ps3 era game with little to no detail or complex animations, somehow the ground looks passable for a Ps5 game in many areas along with the slideshows shown between loading areas and the ingame battle area looks passable but outside the combat area mainly the abby the game besides the ground and wall textures look very bad with some props and character with not ps5 lvl detail of polygons at all, and the main characters run, walk, fall animations, look very bad and unpolished ; its as if this game was rushed out to please the shareholders because it looks like it needed at last 2 more years in development to polish some of the bugs that 6 months into the game theres some very common bugs like your main character moving static when interacting with some menus somehow , getting stuck on the dog and being unable to move if he spawns right on you because he tends to follow you around the abby area for some reason but you can def outpace the ai where he stops following you ;

the social media aspect was very annoying to deal with sometimes with text you'd see from a 9 yr old ; Cringe dialogue your constantly fed in the Superlink , alot of the cutscenes you just begin skipping because the dialogue is so bad and its cutscene after cutscene, there is cutscene that plays after every battle as well when your forced to rest,

why design a rpg type system when the enemies scale with you and outnumber you 5-1 ratio? you only get 3 heroes that all share the same atb guage and every round enemies constantly get 3+ reinforcements forcing you to play offensively and quickly take out enemies before they become too numerous before you can complete the objective, , its a card based system so sometimes you can be screwed out of attacking cards or get cards that require cost so effectively costing you the game or skipping allowing another round of reinforcements to build up, then theres the ingame out of battle semi-permanant injuries you randomly get from ANY attack that causes your characters unable to do missions, start the battle with 50% less hp, take 50% damage and it can take the game ingame 3 days which is a big deal for it to clear only to go into another mission and get the same debuff right after

other than that the combat is creative for what its worth and adds some value to the game but many of the issues are pretty jarring this is a Triple - AAA game in 2023

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has many of the elements that would make it a great special event story – it carries off its pulpy narrative pretty well despite the bland protagonist, and the combat is a competent adaptation of superhero action into a strategy format. However, the slow pacing of the narrative and battles, not to mention the wrong-headed approach to the home base and team building make Midnight Suns feel disjointed and torpid. This is one special event that won’t become a collectible.

Midnight Suns is a complete package created with passion and love, and that's why it stands out from many lifeless Marvel releases we've seen lately. It oozes substance, which is why not many will focus on the relatively weak visuals and technical problems.
