Lies of P: Overture’s ability to augment and improve goes beyond the story; it’s the ideal companion to just about every part of the base game. Its wealth of new enemy types present fresh new obstacles to overcome, the stages they inhabit are intricately detailed and narratively justified, and its boss battles hit or exceed the high standard set in the original release. Even though an overture is the musical portion that comes before a symphony or performance, Overture is a remarkable note to go out on and raises the bar even higher for the upcoming sequel.

Lies of P: Overture is a fantastic, albeit slightly short, addition to the already incredible Lies of P base game. Clocking in somewhere between six to eight hours, Overture is an incredibly well-made expansion which does an impressive job of fleshing out the lore of Krat while providing impressive new set pieces to explore, weapons to master, Legion Arms to forge, and challenging bosses to defeat.

Despite some strange balancing issues, Lies of P: Overture offers a plethora of incredible content to an already incredible game.

With a lot of new content in every aspect, Lies of P: Overture is worthy of the title of expansion. Although it partially wastes the potential of the art direction by spending too much time in bland corridors and caves with little visual appeal, these extra chapters maintains the quality of the main campaign as a whole, being a significant and mandatory extension for all who enjoyed the adventure of Geppetto's puppet and want to delve deeper into it.

While it doesn't add anything substantially new to the experience, Lies of P: Overture expansion is a more than worthy expansion, delivering an engaging story delving deeper into the base game's lore, featuring some of the best bosses in the entire game, and adding new weapons that can significantly shake up combat. Its lack of innovation and unfair difficulty may turn off a few players, but all those who loved every second of the base game will have no trouble falling in love again with one of the best Soulslikes of the past few years.

Lies of P: Overture is a strong and rewarding expansion that builds on the base game with memorable bosses, new gear, and a darker, emotional storyline that acts as both prequel and epilogue. While some issues remain - like uneven level design and occasional camera hiccups - the excellent combat additions, quality of life improvements, and high narrative quality make it a must-play for fans, offering 15 hours of rich, atmospheric content.

Lies of P: Overture is a great addition for fans of the base game, with good bosses and new weapons. However, repetition and weak area design hold it back from reaching its full potential.
