    Excellent game. Exploring Hogwarts is a joy, the rest of the world is fun to experience and role play in. I only have passing knowledge for the world of harry potter and I have found myself immediately immersed in this game and world.

    I never would have even known this game existed if it wasn’t for a few loud mouthed fanatics online. It’s the first game I’ve ever pre ordered and only deluxe edition I’ve purchased. This game is phenomenal. The graphics and performance on ps5 is incredible 4k 60 in an open world game like this with infinite detail.     The game we all wanted when we were young playing on the ps2. Don't let the controversy dissuade your purchase of the game. She didn't develop the game. Best game I've ever played, minimal bugs. Great experience.

    Exceeded my expectations and more, years of waiting was absolutely worth it.
    The game appears to be VERY polished, you can tell the developers made it with love and did'nt take any shortcuts. Runs flawlessly on the ps5 too.

    If you are a Harry Potter fan, this is a no brainer. Game looks great, at times it can look a little glitchy but a few patches should clean it up. A lot of attention to details. It’s not to be able to explore hogwarts. FINALLY!

    Both my wife and I(35 years old) were looking forward to this after growing up with the books and movies. Spoiler Alert... this is game is crack for fans from all walks of life. Get ready to embark on a journey of bad@$$ wizarding and world-building. You won't regret the purchase. Ignore the online hate!

    This game is absolutely amazing, even if you aren't a big Harry Potter fan. The story is really intriguing and feels unique. Everything you can do in this game has a purpose, like growing plants so you can make different potions and doing assignments to learn new spells.

    Phenomenal, it is both new and old at the same time. For example, there is a moment where you get a sense of a possible connection to the Department of Mysteries while searching the forbidden section of the library with Sebastian Sallow and being separated from him. Dueling is awesome and the land is plentiful with plenty of monsters and creatures as well as hidden gems. Every detail wasPhenomenal, it is both new and old at the same time. For example, there is a moment where you get a sense of a possible connection to the Department of Mysteries while searching the forbidden section of the library with Sebastian Sallow and being separated from him. Dueling is awesome and the land is plentiful with plenty of monsters and creatures as well as hidden gems. Every detail was taken into account for and the castle is truly special. Potions class with Professor Sharp is my favorite thus far and I can not wait to do more, herbology is really neat as well. There is so much to do and the land is fully exploitable. The story, plot, and characters feel special and alive. I could not be happier and I bought a PS5 in preparation for this exquisite time at Hogwarts. “Wit beyond measure, is man’s greatest treasure”.… Expand

    I lost interest in games to the point that I didn't play almost anything for quite a while now. But this game managed to spark my interest. I can't stop playing it, I feel the joy of playing games again. I believe it's a must-play not only for fans but for gamers all around. Around every corner there is something new and exciting to discover. The gameplay is fluid its easily the best game in a long time.

    A childhood dream comes true. Since i was a child a dreamed of such an game. The love of detail is so great is this game, Hogwarts is exactly like i imagined it, big, misterious but also cosy. I am really overwhelmed by this great game

    The game plays great for me. It's a typical open-world game like Skyrim etc. The voice acting is great for the main characters. It takes some getting used to but its a solid-built game and you can tell the makers really cared about making Hogwarts great.

It’s a charming world and the development team has done an excellent job bringing this world to life. A couple of non game-breaking glitches are why I can’t give it a perfect score.

Animations are great, the combat is refreshing as you can change it to your liking, the forced introduction of genders and agenda pops now and then but does not break the immersion.     It's the game fans have always wanted. Great story, likeble characters and decent gameplay. It feels like a Harry Potter game even if it isn't, and aesthetically sticks the it's roots.

    The game is also probably one of the most multi-curtural and LGBTQ+ friendly games I've ever has the pleasure of playing. It's done in the right way.

    If you put aside some small optimization issues and audio glitches - probably will be fixed with the Day 1 Patch - it is a well fan serviced video game beautiful sceneries, amazing soundtrack and smooth gameplay in every aspect. A dream come true for every hard Potter fan.

    Game is honestly incredible, open world is massive and it really puts you where you wanted to be as a kid in HOGWARTS, trans “activists” boycotted and tried to destroy this game for no reason when there’s in fact is a trans character in the game. I mean we’ve strayed so far from what’s right and wrong.

This game is the best exploration game I have played. The story is excithing it gives you a true Harry Potter vibe. The music is so good.     In the lines of Kotor or The Witcher 3, we have an immersive RPG experience in the form of Hogwarts Legacy. You create your own original character and join a house of your choosing. Very fun experience for both Harry Potter fans or those new to the Wizarding World

    Awesome graphics, story draws you in from the first five minutes. Felt like Harry Potter met Indiana Jones and then drops you right into the heart of the game, Hogwarts itself. Still only scratching the surface, but I'm enjoying the adventure.

Some pop in I noticed on the ps5 but it never hurt the game. The graphic details help that, they stand out giving it a lived in feel. The game play is great. But there’s ways to sell or destroy old underpowered items. At the point in game I’m at I can walk in and out and around almost anywhere I see. I’ve found ways up mountains and into a lake swimming and diving . The diving is only spots of bubbling water. Which I feel is a ok thing, the meat of the game is hogwarts. If your a fan or casual gamer you should find this fun and interesting. Dare I say enchantingly great. As for the review bombing other who hate jk Rowling . Thoes reviews are pretty easy to spot. Ignore them. They say many thing not about the game or so overinflated I’d gues by reading them they didn’t play it. It’s a boy who cried wolf scenario with them.… Expand

    This game is amazing!!!! A few bugs that will most likely be ironed out soon. Truly the game of my dreams. I can't believe how beautiful the castle is. I have played a fair few open world games and this is the first time I have seen art direction at this level.

    Remeber when "those people" used to just want to be "left alone" and "treated equal", but now they try to dictate everything we do and say and now what we play? Best game ever! 10/10. If you really want to be "left alone" then lock your door, close the blinds and let me play my game. The whole world isn't gonna walk on eggshells for you few hyper sensitive individuals. Get over it.

    A wonderful game, engrossing and engaging in every way. If you aren’t a fan of the setting, it may not do much for you — but obviously, you probably wouldn’t choose this anyway. But if you are at all interested in the world, this is a slam dunk. The quest and character systems are deep, the world is massive, and most of all, the combat is really well done, and that was a nice surprise. AA wonderful game, engrossing and engaging in every way.     I am 35 and have been a big gamer all my life. I've played 100's of games in almost all the genre's. This game is a masterpiece and deserves recognition for all the hard work that went into it. Snowflakes can go cry while I'm slaying trolls and riding hippogriffs like a wizarding boss.    … Expand

    Just incredible. The fact that the game came entirely playable without the need for a first-day patch on PS5 is amazing. Great job. It is not every day we get a game as polished as this one.

I'm ok wit the story about "ancient magic" and "the chosen one", i mean even kotor has similar themes, but everything else in storytelling aspect is really poor. These sidequests "collect this" or "bring this **** to me" are so dumb, characters are pretty shallow, eager to tel everything about themselfs because... because) Some gameplayI honestly don't get why this game has so much hype.     The critical reviews of this game based on the political ideology of J.K Rowling are wholly unjustified. This game is phenomenal, and the developers should be encouraged to continue this standard in future games. It is truly one of the most charming gaming experiences I have ever had. 10/10

    A satisfying game that deserves only good ratings. I hope all the "insulted and humiliated" will finally understand that people may have an opinion that may not be the same as theirs. Stop whining and enjoy the game. J.K. Rowling, your Harry Potter world is beautiful

    -Checklist simulator-
    Sadly it didn't keep. The game is an open world checklist simulator. The idea that "people want to open menu buttons to collect things", that for whatever unfathomable reason actually finds an audience in microtransaction mobile games, is copied over so directly that at times I'm genuinely surprised it's not asking me for "diamonds" to "speed this up"; it's so sad that this is what I was reminded of. It reeks of poor game design.

    And that, at its heart, is what it is. While beautiful, that's where all the budget ended. Immersion is nowhere to be found, despite the intricate details of the castle. Classical RPG elements have been watered down so much that one can't help but wonder why they're even there. Loot - armor pieces - don't feel worth collecting with a poor itemization system, and they're the only tangible gameplay altering things to collect too. Oh a chest. Wonder what's in there? ...you guessed it, your 65th hat with no fun stats to speak of! The other collectibles ultimately all lead to those same armor rewards, and the way to get them is too similar, a string of unimaginative, repetitive tasks that bore after the third time. Move rocks from place A to B. Collect three floaty smoky things. And you get another check on your list- do it 16 more times! Now 25 more times! Add to that a sprinkle of unneeded inventory management just so it can add another "collect 95(! no exaggeration) of the same minigame across the world" to give the illusion of "something to do".

    -Combat-
    Combat. Initially fun, specifically in a more RP setting of dueling, it ended up being repetitive despite the effort to make enemies unique. Maybe it's the lack of variation in enemies. Or maybe it's because going to Hogwarts should not be about combat, let alone the main thing of the game. Anyway. You get talent points, and instead of using them in a fun way, they also gated basic quality of life behind talents, stuff that should be baseline to ensure a good player experience. As a result it just feels I'm getting cheated on my points when I can't put them in the cool places in the tree. Need to level some more first! It is yet another example of artificially padding the length of a game, the pitfall of poorly thought out open world games.

    -No character development or immersion-
    And I could have been ok with that, but it gets worse. The fantasy of Hogwarts is one where outcasts can still fit in. The escape to a magical place. Instead, I'm singled out all game. I'm a natural at flying, herbology, charms, and teachers don't hesitate to tell me again and again. Professors give me special attention, special classes, special tasks. I have a rare special power, rivaling or even one-upping Dumbelore's strength. I hate that. Let me be a Normal Student. Let me RP my way through, I can't even sleep in my own bed, I can't sit on a comfy chair in my common room, I can't talk to non-quest npcs, and the few npcs that I can interact with are bland. Spending the night is done literally on rugs waiting at the quest location. I want to do my Owls, suck at potions because I know I would, make my own friends, eat in the dining hall, and make my choices that impact the story.

    Instead I'm stuck with a lifeless character with terrible voicing, who literally murders other witches, wizards and goblins because they're... poachers? Oh and possibly a threat? Not sure, the story so far (20 hours in) is a 4/10. Despite being a RPG style game, I've about as much chance at character development as I did in Tetris.

    That's not the Hogwarts I wanted to go to.

    I feel they're trying to please too many audiences with this - the casual HP fans only used to mobile games, the Souls fans, the talent-tree fans, Assassin Creed players, the Sims players. You know what they say about Jack of all trades..... Fire Emblem, of all things, did a better job delivering on the school fantasy. Because really, that's what I firmly believe we are after with a game centered around Hogwarts School of Magic.

    -Conclusion-
    Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world checklist game made pretty. Remove the Harry Potter skin, and I'm sure the game would not have done nearly as well. Being carried by the franchise, rather than by its own merits, is a sad place to be for any game.

    That being said, on a personal note. I do love the excessive inclusivity in this game. They just went absolutely overboard and this works in representing an alternative world, of magic and wonder and love, where everyone can be how they are or who they want to be. In the world of Harry Potter, being just you, despite your past or struggles, is good enough. Shame I couldn't also be the witch I wanted to be.    … Expand

    This is definitely a game of the year contender. I have never watched the movies until 2 weeks ago so I don't know much about the Harry Potter ecosystem but this game is amazing. Lots of stuff to do.

    Purchased after hearing how this game was making everyone angry. I wasn't going to buy before lol. So far got about 6 hours in and man it's so much fun. I'm hoping they'll add quidage at some point though maybe as a DLC? I'd like more interactions in the world though, make it so I can levitate anything, talk to more people etc. Only reason I'm giving 9 stars instead of 10.

    I had high expectations for this game and I wasn’t disappointed infact its much better than my expectations in my opinion anyway. I’m 45 hours in only just finished the story and it was amazing i wish I could experience it for the first time all over again.     Hogwarts Legacy is the Harry Potter game I’ve been dreaming of since I was a teenager. I grew up alongside the Harry Potter novels and devoured them all, and I spent the time between book releases reading and writing fanfiction set in the Wizarding World.

    1) World tasks are redundant, loot is everywhere and becomes insignificant after awhile. Constantly have to update your inventory, what you're wearing for stats. Looting becomes boring - all finds mostly insifnigicant.
    2) Character loops - all NPCs are in loops, doing the same thing for the entire game. One girl literally walks between pouring a cup of tea and admiring art for the entire game. Gives the world a lifeless feel.
    3) Tasks/side missions are redundant and mostly easy. The loot at the end of the rainbow is again, drab and insignificant.
    4) They built a beautiful world that would be worth exploring IF I felt there was a reward for doing so. The loot system is typically a great way of incentivizing exploration. Therefore, despite there being a gorgeous world, I felt less than compelled to explore.
    5) Character voicing is really boring - childish inflection. If I was 12, I might enjoy it. As an adult, it's cheesy as hell.
    6) Inventory - unexciting loot is EVERYWHERE. But your inventory space is only 20. If you open a chest and your inventory is full, you can't pick it up. Sometimes this resulted in a glitch where I couldn't reopen the chest after clearing up space. I had to reload past saves to make sure I got what was in that chest.
    7) FOV - Field of View is narrow. Annoying in combat. Fix it.
    8) Virtue signaling - let's throw a trans-character in the game because of the trans-backlash. The backlash against JK Rowling is so overblown.

    Very disappointing overall. Fun combat system. Beautiful world. That's about it. Everything else is childish, tedious and drab. Terrible loot. Don't buy (or wait for a deep deep deep deep sale).    … Expand

    Hogwards legacy is such an amazing game. It’s the dream all Harry Potter fans have been dreaming about. The graphics are stunning even in Performance mode. I would recommend using balance mode with the fps limit deactivate (40-50fps).

    The story’s actually quite interesting and it develops during the whole game. You also progress getting all the spells, monster sack, broom, etc slowly so    Hogwards legacy is such an amazing game. It’s the dream all Harry Potter fans have been dreaming about. The game performs fine, the music is incredible, it feels like I'm playing inside the movies, but a different time period and story, combat is very good but I do wish there was more variety, the world feels huge, memorable characters, graphics are excellent, controls and menus are fine except for spell switching...a bit cumbersome.     The game J.K. Rowling deserves.

    What a masterpiece by Portkey Games. To say they have never made a game like this, they did the wizarding world of Hogwarts justice. Looks incredible, plays incredible, sounds incredible (Both PC & PS5, though console is way more optimized as it stands - likely an official launch day patch/drivers for PC.)

    Amazingly full open world with many things to do, awesome NPCs and optional classes.. I’m not really the biggest Harry Potter fan but I still loved this game like any other! 10/10 (I’m 25 hours in right now)

    Hogwarts Legacy has a great character design and could have had a great story too but the story is not so strong. the gameplay feels great and exploration is so entertaining. visually its great and Hogwarts castle is so detailed.

    It's been a decade since we've had a full Potterverse game, but the wait has been well worth it. Hogwarts Legacy gets just about everything right, with its involving storyline and myriad of main and side quests. Perhaps its finest feature though is Hogwarts itself, providing as much joy in just exploring the halls as performing set tasks. We doubt a single Harry Potter fan will be disappointed. We certainly weren't.
