Hell Let Loose is one of the best WWII shooters, certainly not suitable for everyone due to his hardcore gameplay but still rewarding if played with the right collaborative spirit.

Hell Let Loose can often feel slow-paced and tedious, but if you’re a strategic thinker looking for rewarding and realistic gameplay, then this could be the game for you.

If requires you to work together, not only at a squad level but at platoon/company level too using both Squad chat and proximity chat (also command chat if you are the squad leader so you can talk to the commander and other squad leaders etc).

The gameplay feels realistic in terms of there being bouts of intensive firefights dispersed with times when you are moving to a location, which can take some time unless a friendly driver stops to pick you up. ;) This change in pace between the firefights just helps to increase the tension until suddenly you hear a crack of gun fire and rounds start whistling past your head as your vision goes blurry.

If you're after a quick fix of fast paced mayhem (thinking COD/Battlefield) this game might seem a little too slow paced for you. If, however, you're looking for a realistic feeling, team based tactical experience then this could very well be the game you've been waiting for.

The game also fully utilises the PS5's haptic feedback so you get some good resistance as you're lining up on your enemy and gently squeezing the trigger. Also, you can 'feel' the ground below you as you crawl on your belly. The sounds are great, the graphics are awesome. I'm loving it!

This game ain't a casual drop in experience, and is not for gamers with a low attention span. Those players bounce right off the surface and are likely the ones leaving poor review scores.
Invest a little time learning how this game ticks (hint: more like a FPS Company Of Heroes than the current iteration of BF or COD) and I doubt you will regret it. A little persistence, a little research....trust me. Still less to get your head round than the average RPG or Strategy game.
The best things in life often require a little effort after all, and the battles you'll find yourself in as a result are well....unparalleled. Hope to see you in the field.
Note: I deducted a point due to some niggling ongoing stability issues that it would be disingenuous not to acknowledge. Early days on console so hopefully they will be rectified.

I can somewhat respect the devs dedication to such a hardcore and "realistic" shooter but that doesn't mean I can find it fun. Also the tutorials are just dreadful. Literal text documents where you sit and read paragraphs of writing to understand how the game works. When you have an in depth game like this a good tutorial is a must to avoid frustration and this completely fails at that. Full Review »
