    First time writing a review because I felt like I needed to for this game.
    It is no exaggeration you spend a lot of your time running up to the battle, only to get knocked out, not really know where it was coming from, there's no replays, and then start over.

And the game is complicated from what I can tell, people need some help getting into the swing of things otherwise you just run for like 5 mins at a time to a spot on a map, and your location is poorly marked, and then you try not to die but likely will and it all starts over again and repeats just like that.    … Expand

    Haven't been able to play the game at all since the day it came out or the BETA, because all I get nonstop is "AN ERROR HAS OCCURED CONNECTING TO T17 SERVICES" nothing has fixed the bs. All I have to say is thank God the crap was free with plus.

    This game is seriously hot garbage. The enemy can somehow see you from 2 miles away regardless of what weapon they have but on my TV I can't see **** All mist and fog everywhere. The weapons are extremely hard to control. You don't know where you're getting shot from. The spawn points are ridiculously far from targets. This game is absolutely atrocious.. to snipe you gotta have a spotter.This game is seriously hot garbage.     If you don't want to spend a lot of time getting accommodated with the systems, this will be waste of time - clunky controls, very little action and outdated graphics and animations. This game does little to onboard newcomers, so you'll have to rely on spending time reading manuals and watching video tutorials.     Game sux, takes forever to get to a fight just to get shot by a team mate. I've not manage to finish a whole match yet before the servers crash. Its awful. Worse than awful its broken.

    The game is straight up broken, then ontop of that you have cheaters, campers and team mates that constantly shoot you. This game is not fun and should not be played by anyone.

    Game is plaqued by the devs own egotistical incompetence.

    You have not one but two respawn timers after each death. Have a commander that wont listen or overall sucks? Well congratulations there is no way to vote to remove them. Playing as a sniper which you rarely get to do an while you're racking up kills someone else joins then votes you out so they can hog the squad.     Playing as a sniper which you rarely get to do an while you're racking up kills someone else joins then votes you out so they can hog the squad.

    Additionally you cannot swim at all nor really climb or mantel anything because they don't feel it is important.

    Want to cross a body of water good luck you're going to have to run all the hell away around it.

    Then you have issues with menus being bugged out, or not being able to use voice comms, a HUD that gets bugged as well so you can't see who is talking.

    Also at times the icon for your objective that you are to attack or defend also does not always pop up so you have to look at a **** map then try to zoom in on.

    This game suffers a lot from over thought UI options or controls an a lack of thought on what could make it enjoyable.

    If you play as a squad leader, sometimes the boice chat is fine other times you will have people scrwaming in your damn ear from all 3 channel options making impossible to hear anything from anyone so you then have to mute all the squad leaders an commander just to enjoy the game.

    They also don't seem to ban their most toxic players even after they team kill people or yell an scream an curse 24/7.

    The servers are also trash, at times they are fine others they lag like hell where you stutter when moving an literally have to stand still or walk extremely slowly just to move forward. I know 100% it is not my internet as I have a 1Gb internet connection in other games I have a 8 to 16 millisecond ping in their game its will average 80 to 140 100% of the time.

    This game could be great but with all of its bugs an problems an the toxicity of the players not being delt with I would tell you to not buy this or pick it up if it goes on sale, as I feel robbed by them for paying for this when it should of been free to play in its current state.

    I also do not see how anyone with 20 to 30 hours in game could give the game anything above a zero.

    Before I close I'd also like to note respawns are placed extremely far away from objectives making this a walking simulator, an that the collision doesn't seem to work most times as LMG gunners can often kill you while laying being rocks from a distance, and that if you suffer from any form of epilepsy do not buy this game as if you are getting shot at the screen shakes an will more than likely trigger you, as well as the fact that right now the game can barely reach 30 frames a second an often leaves a ghosting effect on the animations anytime you move.    … Expand

    This has to be a joke. Absolute bonkers amount of downtime. Unreadable map. Crazy frame drops on a PS5 with graphics worse than BFV. I was going to buy this, thankfully they gave it with PS+ so I dodged that bullet.

    The positive stuff: The explosions looked amazing. The mechanics around wounds and guns are excellent.

There's so much cool stuff in the map that would never see action because the map is massive, and the objectives are so far apart, but as far as I can tell, almost everything in the map is just fluffy scenery. You can't really interact with anything. Then, Somehow, on my 55" screen TV, I still need a magnifying glass to understand anything shown on the map. If you're like me and you get the occasional hour or two to turn on you PS5 while juggling a job and a family, this game is definitely not for you.… Expand

    It's so bad, it's almost funny. Aiming s*cks. The controls never feel fluid and fun. Not even for a second. There is constant struggle with the terrain and climbing.
    Even a look at the scoreboard is a f*cking struggle, because the devs f*cked up the touchpad button. It's ridiculous.

    Players can't swim btw. You drown in six seconds.

    The best thing is:
    Play a 90 to 120 minutes match and all your progress and XP is lost. All for nothing. A f*cking joke of a game.

    Random disconnects all the time.

    Despite the fact, that this piece of sh*t software landed in PS+ and cross-play between consoles, the player pool is tiny. A week after launch I constanly see the same players already.

    The slowest, least fun, most terrible shooter I've ever played in my life.

    I tried playing for an hour and spent nearly all of my time "running" to an objective. You spawn 300-700 meters from areas, there are very few vehicles, and you run slower than molasses.

    First there are some technical issues. For example the Voice over Ip ingame chat. On standard settings PS5-communication in HLL is via the Dualsense Controller. Seems a nice idea because the Dualsense has a microphone and also a speaker. Unfortunately the output of Dualsense is far too quiet even on the highest settings.    The game seems not finished yet and this is quite disappointing.

    Let’s talk about the gameplay. The first 10 hours give you some really great moments, but sadly they also give a really big mountain of frustration. The developers did not include a tutorial mode or a shooting range to get used to the functionality of the classes and weapons. Everything has to be tested out at the game servers and that gives a bad experience to teams that get “testing newbies” into the squads. Needles to say that this is also a bad experience for the new players.
    There is also no possibility to host a server manually. That would allow new players to try things out without weakening the rest of their team. The only way into a server is a “quick match” option that seems to be like “free for all”. Why is there no way to host a server manually or to manually join a server from a server list? And why is it even not possible to choose a map by myself? Everything is so random that I first thought HLL wasn’t finished with updating.
    It’s really sad: HLL graphics are really good and sometimes the atmosphere of the game is nearly amazing. HLL has a lot of potential and a lot to offer. But the developers delivered something to the PS5 plus community that is really difficult to get into and that still has some serious issues that damp the experience.
    Thus I think the game will lose a lot of players in it’s first two months on PS5. Just giving the game to PS Plus members is not enough. Developers need to ask themselves how they can attract new players into staying and returning. Too much frustration leads to a shrinking community.    … Expand

    Called hell let loose, well it certainly was, spent 1st 10 minutes fighting to sort the controls out then after that started the gameplay, we'll it's over complicated, no real tutorial and makes no sense. Yet another crap game playstation have 'gifted' us subscribers.

    What the… Respawn far away from what might be a battleground. Go there, get shot by invincible enemy, spend 15 min running back to fight, shot by invincible enemy.. Repeat. No explanation, no nothing. I don’t even know if it’s pvp… why was this crap made?

    Do you like strategy war games, where the predominant strategy that can always beat all others is "race to the other teams spawn location and camp and murder" OH BOY YOU'LL LOVE THIS GAME
    Do you enjoy having your player die as soon as you spawn in 5 of the 6 spawn locations available, so your only choice is to play roulette with the spawn locations, as opposed to spawning where it might make strategic sense in the game? ITS LIKE TWO GAMES IN ONE
    Do you love having a bad boss at work, and then playing a game that requires leadership, so your success in the game is dependent on a random BAD BOSS in the game who wants to take out his self-loathing on you during the game? GET IN ON THE ACTION
    Do you enjoy being teammates with strangers in a game that makes them scream "WHERE THE HELL IS THE SHOOTING COMING FROM?!?" and "HOW THE FAWK ARE THOSE 2 PLAYERS KILLING OUR WHOLE SQUAD OVER AND OVER!?!?!" and "ARE OUR GUNS SHOOTING BLANKS?!?!?" and "WE HAVE MACHINE GUNS AND SNIPER RIFLES AND THEY HAVE BOLT ACTION RIFLES AND THEY CAN"T MISS AND WE CAN'T KILL THEM!!!!" IT'S THE GIVE THAT KEEPS ON GIVING

    I really, really, really wanted to like this game. I've played many world war 2 games. I put a bit of time into this one, mostly because I stupidly thought with enough practice I'd get decent enough to maybe enjoy the game. I was wrong. I've never hated a video game this much in my life.

    After roughly 30 hours of gameplay, I've killed 12 enemies and died more than 200 times. 28 of those hours consisted of running from an idle part of the map trying to find any friends or enemies.
    I've played multiple matches of "LOSE LIKE HELL" lasting 30+ minutes and not SEEN an enemy, but definitely managed to get killed by them multiple times.

    And I'm a BOSS on Sniper Elite 4, a game even with its flaws is infinitely more fun than this game.    … Expand

    Amazing atmosphere. I think its cool game for pc and mouse, but aiming on ps5 is so terrible. I hate all developers how portable this game for console. I think you all idiot, how you admitted that aiming in the game is simply an impossible task. I love Enlisted, amazing port for console, amazing aiming, you need to go and find out how they got this controls.

    Very weak game. Constant artillery, extremely long respawn times. Try to act as super realisitic so you can't swim since all soldiers were m*rons but you can sprint forever. Sure!
    Huge disparity between factions. Germans have crap weapons compared to the others. When I see I have to play as a German, Instant Leave.

    Crap game. 1 point because the devs tried.

    The game certainly isn't for everyone. It's a sim, you may go 15 mins without firing a single shot. 0 out of 10 also bugs, constant getting kicked from servers and the amount of players that kill their own team mates I wouldn't reccomend it to my worst enemy.

    The worst hit detection I have ever encountered in a video game. Invisible walls galore. Fences that block gunfire. Terrible movement and mantling, which will most of the time get you killed.

    It's like every design element in this game was designed to hinder the player and piss them off.

    Stay away from this cash grab trash.

    The premise (a WW2 FPS with an interest in realism and a limited HUD) is sound. But snipers have an unreasonable advantage over every other unit, and while communication is important to the experience, there’s no decent alternative to voice chat (which almost nobody uses). For a large-scale WW2 shooter, try Enlisted instead – it’s more fun and is free to play. [Issue#8, p.97]

    Caveats noted, playing Hell Let Loose with a decent squad of players willing to communicate, a competent commander, and skills sufficient to the moment is a unique, exciting, and extremely rewarding first-person shooter experience, ultimately much more satisfying than the arcade shooters to which most players are accustomed. Getting to the point of real comfort with the game’s mechanics, interface and team systems takes a commitment of time and the willingness to learn from others and the game’s written material, and is definitely not for everyone. Hell Let Loose does a great job of reminding us how important teamwork, communication, and reliance on others can be, not just in war but maybe in the broader context of our lives.
