First review on the site. Been playing GT since GT1 back in 1998. Been playing sim racing games my whole life. I have the highest respect for Polyphony Digital and Kazunori Yamauchi before this, but not anymore. First review on the site. Been playing GT since GT1 back in 1998. Been playing sim racing games my whole life. I have the highest respect for Polyphony Digital and Kazunori Yamauchi before this, but not anymore. The last 2 weeks, and especially last 24 hours after v1.07 update and extended server outage, have destroyed any trust I have in the series.

    1) This is an AAA game sold at full price, but it is designed like a freemium mobile game with predatory microtransactions. Credits are very hard to come by (e.g. the most expensive car needed 11+ hours of racing to buy before the update). But you can buy credit packs from PSN ($300 AUD for the aforementioned car). Buying parts for tuning cost money. Visual customization cost money. And the latest update has slashed the highest earning race payout in half.

    2) Lootboxes. You get a roulette ticket for completing races, but nothing good ever comes out of it. You get pitiful credits, and never good cars or parts. Again it pushes you towards MTX.

    3) Time limited dealerships. New Car Dealer has "invite system" for the most desirable cars. How to get invited? You guessed it - through random roulette. Used Car Dealer and Legendary Dealer cycle randomly every 24 hours. If you haven't got enough credits to buy a car when it appears, tough luck as MTX is your only option.

    4) Cannot sell cars like in previous games. You can only remove them from garage. Again, this reduces the chance to earn credits.

    5) Engine swaps, one of the most exciting feature, is also locked behind the random roulette.

    6) Bugs and glitches. Numerous issues from release day, some halting progression entirely. Each new update brings its own set of bugs as well. And they prioritized reducing the race payouts instead of fixing them.

    7) Always online. Said to reduce cheating. Sure, but offline play should be exempt from this. Currently the server has been out for 24+ hours with zero explanation or ETA from the developer.

    8) Physics issues. RWD and 4WD road cars have a fatal physics flaw as their rear tyre breaks traction way too easily. Wheel FFB is lacking (they spent all their time optimizing DualShock 5 and forgot about us hardcore simracers). Lots of tuning exploits to game the PP (performance rating) system and imbalances online play.

    9) Lack of cars and tracks. Roughly 300/400 cars and 29/33 tracks are carried over from GT Sport. The new cars are often outdated models. They are bringing classic fictional tracks back, but the layout and atmosphere has been altered significantly. Monthly updates only brings 3 cars each month, and often these are Vision GT concepts that nobody wants, or slight variants of existing models.

    10) Boring career mode. Lack of events - lots of cars have no specific championship (Gr.2, Formula cars). AI is still painfully slow and unaware of your car. Most races are catch the rabbit type events with no actual racing. Updates only add a few races that are over in an hour of gameplay. Not to mention still a distinct lack of high paying races forcing you to grind the same 4 events over and over.

    11) Music Rally. Useless feature. Development time could have been spent adding an improved Course Maker from GT5/6 instead.

    12) GT Cafe. Great idea, but execution is hampered by the lacking car list, poor racing and all the problems above. Also very short and you barely have enough credits to buy all the cars once its done. EDIT: They added new menu books but these are just "buy x cars and get x reward", no actual racing.

Good things: graphics and photomode are still as gorgeous as ever. Wet weather driving is truly dynamic with wind speed, weather radar, drying lines and puddles/aquaplaning. Soundtrack still carries that signature GT feel (although a lot of tracks are also recycled from previous games). But these are features that are to be expected nowadays, and they are greatly outweighed by the negatives above.

Conclusion: lacking in content and racing, poor physics on a wheel, lots of bugs and always online requirement. This is a full priced title but designed like an F2P game to make you cough up even more money if you want to enjoy all of the (already limited) content. The latest update reduced payouts even more, and also breaks the server for 24+ hours so nobody can play. Zero explanations given by developer. Certainly the worst GT game by far (including Prologues and spinoffs like GT PSP), and shows a worrying trend by Polyphony Digital for the future. Kazunori should be ashamed of betraying the trust of so many car lovers worldwide who has supported the series since it's inception.

EDIT: 7 months and several updates later, things are barely better. Grind is still atrocious, still lack of events/cars/tracks, unstable online lobbies, promised feature missing (car selling). Sad to say this game still deserves its 0 score.

PD, why did you screw up your new game?

Microtransactions everywhere, cars heavily overpriced, proper GT career does not exist, not enough events for cars, the graphics are still from the previous generation, weak and very slow updates...
and the developers are just silent.

just a terrible live service game! GT4 forever!

Converted my $1k Fanatec setup to a $50 setup via an update. Good job guys! Imbeciles. Need to add coop racing vs AI. Update the prize system. Roulette sucks. Make it a dice roll system. Make it easier to report people who’s only goal is to ruin races.

This is the worst game I've ever played and have never felt as conned out of my money as I do now. I made the mistake of watching a review from PD shill SuperGT on YouTube instead of getting an accurate measure from honest people. This is my finish with Sony aswell as their customer service is appalling.

The cars are polished, but the game is not. Polyphony Digital ignores player feedback. This series has gone downhill ever since it went 'online'. Note: The devs shut down past game servers within just a few years of them launching.

    Internet & updates:
    - When server maintenance happens, most game features become unavailable.
    - Want to play 2-player split screen? you need to connect to their server.
    - Want to play offline? you can only choose from 13 cars in the arcade.
    - Lackluster updates add game crashings bugs, generic tracks and more cars.

    Economy:
    - The economy is deliberately fudged so they can sell microtransactions.
    - Race rewards are poor. There are too many expensive cars and tuning parts.
    - Patch updates have nerfed race rewards and even tripled car prices.
    - You cannot test drive cars at the dealership (or sell cars you own).

    Restrictions:
    - Performance points (PP) restrictions are absolutely frustrating.
    - Races have restrictions but patch updates keep changing car PP numbers.
    - You enter a race one day, and then next update; your car is not eligible.
    - Your time and money is wasted. Too often you will be down-tuning your cars.

    Licences & pre-race:
    - It is cumbersome to look for cars (no search, just big lists to scroll).
    - The higher level License tests are optional (no races require them).
    - Some license tests e.g Laguna Seca, you will need a lot of luck to pass.
    - There is no race qualifying option or B-spec mode in the campaign.

    Racing experience:
    - Game is heavily optimised for racing wheels (controller is less precise).
    - Too many rolling starts (leading cars are half a lap ahead on short tracks).
    - The driving speed feels good but the mph/kmh numbers seem exaggerated.
    - A.I. are generally on a fixed path and often end up driving into you.

    Penalties & damage:
    - Events with penalties suck. Hit a wall by accident? get penalized twice.
    - Events with car damage suck. Scratch a wall and the car drives all wonky.
    - After around 30 seconds the car magically recovers from any incident.
    - No car body damage, only scratches that just disappear after a race.

    Weather & Tracks:
    - Terrible rain effect on all cars, it is as slippery as black ice.
    - Hard tires lose all grip after like 5-8 laps, it is beyond unrealistic.
    - Rally races are awful, cars float and launch into the air comically.
    - Lack of track variety. There are no winter/snow or city tracks.

    Prizes & RNG:
    - To motivate racing daily, there is a roulette wheel prize. It is rigged.
    - All prizes are pre-selected - the spinning animation is just for show.
    - The best car parts are locked behind RNG (can't be bought at tuning shop).
    - You need to win a 'invite' to be able to buy some cars at the dealership.

I got the platinum trophy but felt no joy. The core of this game is rotten.

EDIT update 2.2: I've revised the score to 0. This isn't the worse game in the world, but I've never, ever known a developer so intent on making a game worse with every single update. After six months of mind numbing grinding and carefully calculating and testing setups and tunes for every race, they've gone and undone the entire tuning process, undoing hundreds of hours of trial and error and making 70% of GT7 cars useless as there is no race that they are even eligible to be entered into now. The costs of some of the cars have quadrupled to twenty million credits, taking hundreds of hours just afford to buy it. What a mess.

I turned off GT7 last night in disgust after the update and I think that will be the last time.

    - Cars are much more expensive than in previous games. Some updates made cars that were already expensive more expensive.
    - Payouts seem lower than before and when there is one that pays out well Polyphony cuts the pay out by about half
    - Many other pay outs were lowered as well, two were raised but that does not cover the amount that was lowered so a net loss for users
    - The "roulette" cards are rigged. In my experience you get the lowest prize about 90% of the time. Outside of the cars or other credit prizes they are generally worthless. Especially the "prize" that then allows you to spend 2 million credits on a car that you are now allowed to buy. Seems like predatory MTX practices to me.

    They are not honest
    - Claimed you can sell cars, you cannot
    - In an "apology" post they want you to see the long term vision, translating that from corporate speak means "we will not change anything and just ride out the wave of anger and continue our predatory MTX practices"
    - Can't stress this enough as of 9/29/2022 you still cannot SELL cars

    Single player is online only
    - You cannot play the single player offline races without an internet connect AND their servers need to be up and running
    - Early one their servers were down for roughly 30 hours severely limiting what you could play (it was not worth playing)
    - It took them about 20 hours to even post any type of statement about what the problem was or when a resolution might be in place
    - The interface to get from one area or race to another is not great. A lot of button presses and even more to exit a race.

    Multiplayer
    - Rammers are all over. You might have some clean races but do not expect to
    - You can get rammed, get a penalty for that and the rammer gets nothing
    - You might barely tap another car and get a penalty
    - Really frustrating. Almost at the same level of racing Monza on the F1 game in an open lobby.

    Conclusion
    - Play another racing game, this one is not worth your time

The game still looks fantastic, even on a PS4 (which I use). Driving physics are tougher than GT Sport and I rely on GTPlanet.com for tuning recommendations. Game play is still challenging

My main criticisms involve game play rewards (roulette tickets) and (hardly) microtransactions.

I usually grind each day to get two tickets (one for completing a cafe book, another for completing a daily workout). I usually receive 3,000 credits (the lowest amount) or tuning parts for cars I don't own. The most I've ever received was 30,000 credits. Compare this to GT Sport, where each reward brings the chance of winning a car (more than generous). I'd like to see a more reasonable breakdown of rewards - currently, it's usually one car, one tuning part, and three levels of credits. Dump the tuning parts (which is useless unless you own the car) and replace it with another car

Microtransactions are hardly that. As many cars cost 1,000,000 credits (which is difficult to get through game play), you're pretty much forced to pay $14.98 for 1,000,000 credits (750,000 + 250,000) or $19.99 for 2,000,000 credits. A legendary car can go for upwards of 20,000,000 credits, which is $199.00 FOR A DIGITAL CAR. Until Sony and Polyphony can come up with something more reasonable, it's just a cash grab

addendum: I dropped $20 to add 2,000,000 credits for tuning upgrades. Lo and behold, just received an invite to purchase a Bugatti. Cost of the car? 2,000,000. Coincidence? I think not

This game is probably the best racing you can get but it is a problem that when servers are down there isn’t much too entertain you until there back up. Micro transactions are all optional and playing the campaign you are given a lot of cars. It would be better if they weren’t there but they aren’t intrusive.

Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a PC (built by me), Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, PS3, PS4, PS5, and a Switch. I prefer Playstation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the Gameinformer review scale and of coursed influenced by my personal opinions.

(9)Superb. Just shy of gaming nirvana, this score is a high recommendation because the game reviewed is head-and shoulders above its competition

    Bad Business Practices
(-1) Game Economy makes it impossible for a player to unlock all the content of the single player aspect of the game without paying into the microtransactions.
(-1) Online Only makes it impossible for people without an internet connection to even play the single player part of the game.

I’m giving this a nine due to its Sports Mode, and Café mode.

Sports Mode is Gran Turismo’s ranked multiplayer mode. Each week they release 3 new races, and one time travel to compete against everyone in the world. In sports mode you’ll be given a driver’s rating and a sportsmanship ranking to help put people in lobbies of likeminded/skilled racers as you. At first you’ll be constantly changing as the game learns more about you but will eventually stabilize within a month. Two of the three races are based on a certain group of cars that usually cost around 350-450k while the other is based on a specific car which people can change the set-up on. You can always rent a car at no cost to you if you don’t have a car the meets the requirement. My only complaint about Sports mode is that the payout is very small which forces you to make money through Single Player to be able to afford cars in a reasonable amount of time.

Café Mode is the campaign mode of Gran Turismo. It dives into the history of auto-racing, car types, and car manufactures which is very unique when compared to other racing games. It’s an innovating idea which has the player race/collect certain cars and then they give a 2-5min history lesson. There are a few issues with the Single Player which is that the AI is too easy to beat even on the hardest difficulty and you don’t have the option to qualify.

Lots of updates right at the start, which lose my settings all the time, server is down (a lot), you cannot really play if the server is not online. It seems that Sony delivered an unfinished game, what a surprise. They are not the only ones. I paid for a 25th anniversary edition around 100$ and I can’t play because either, I get an update, or the server is down… frankly unacceptable.

And then there is the issue of the microtransactions. How come, now that you can buy in with real money (if you want and can afford it), the game gives you a lot less credits when you win a race or a championship.

Have they not already earned enough. I am very disappointed and I want my money back.

It’s Cyberpunk 2077 all over again! There are other companies that somehow are able to deliver a finished game like Horizon Forbidden West.

So I bought it two weeks ago. I can not compare it to how it was before as I do not know but as a new buyer how does it feel.

The game play is fairly good. Not to much different from GT sport but still a bit freshness here and there. (My son aged 9 had a different take. After looking at me playing for 10 minutes he asked "what's the difference? it's the same game!" :)

However earning money is still difficult and the thing that annoys me the most is the reward roulette!

When you complete certain actions including your daily workout, I.e. drive roughly 26 km you get a price. In GT sport the daily workout resulted in a roulette of one of five cars. Now it is either car(s) , car parts or (always) money in different amounts. During my play and at least 18 roulette spins (one star and two star) I have consistently been awarded the lowest award which is worth next to nothing. I've been sitting, hoping against better judgement, that I would receive a good reward this time but alas no.

It almost felt personal sitting there getting that low reward every time, feeling cheated, and realizing that they are so greedy that they mess with such a minor thing as the probabilitíes of the roulette.

So all in all, according to others better than before, still irritatingly greedy in a way that has impacted my interest in playing further and in my opinion ruining the possibility of a good gaming experience. You can not have all the fun you as a gamer like and deserve without paying a lot of extra for an already AAA-priced game. Stay away for a bit longer and hope they keep adjusting.

After a post-launch nerfed credit awards game got a negative backslash. Immediatelly it was fixed in next patch. But i didn't cared about rewards, though. Cared about gameplay which is second to none. Lots of championships to drive and i love licence tests and circuit experience. It is a 10 for me

Being a father of an autistic son, I can tell you first hand I would immediately have to enable parental controls to avoid him spending his entire paycheck. It's pretty sad when you have a reward system that is so greedy did it causes one to think about those who are mentally challenged or parents who are unaware they're checking account is about to get drained. It seems like Gran Turismo was thinking of those with special needs and the tragedies that surprise a single mother when they wake in the morning and their bank accounts drained because of a video game that is so greedy when it comes to their reward system that it's obvious they were thinking about the mentally disabled and impulsive buyers to make sure there is no door that's closed to avoid a single micro transaction. The ratio of money they will make from microtransactions compared to the odds of what the average player will make actually playing the game is obscene and disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves to make such a good product for the sake of weaponizing it as a monetization scheme. Second, the physics. This is NOT a driving simulator, it's a video game. I have owned several vehicles featured in Gran Turismo and none of them handle anything like the real thing. What it is is a fun racing game that'll draw you in.
I've seen this series come a long way since 1997 when I got hold of the first demos of GT1. I've been with the franchise from the very first beginning on PS1 and am a huge fan, but regretfully, my honest, but sad opinion is that this game is an Easter egg itself and a disappointment for the whole gaming world. It looks like a pathetic hasty twitch of PD to just pick the fruits of its legacy. I haven't read or heard any positive comment for the game (endorsements and paid marketing excluded).

They've managed to build a game that destroyed its own bequest and dispersed one of the biggest and most loyal fans community. Now we are left with nothing else to enjoy, apart for some PC sim racing outdated solutions. Very sad what it has come to...

    - FFB? It is non-existing at all since 1.15! Has anyone noticed that Circuit Experience on Tokyo Expressway is so unbearably impossible after 1.15 update, compared to before? Try it out again, if you have completed it before.

    - Silver prize in CE - what happened to it? Is it cursed or what? Why only gold and bronze?

    - why 15 laps/24 min. races instead of 24h? More competitive/strategic/historical endurance races with huge rewards would keep us pinned.

    - if the AI just barely touches you from behind or side, you immediately lose all control or spin out, even if you drive the truck and they drive the Mini! If you ram into them with full might, either from the side or behind, it is like you've hit the brick wall!? And that is what they call the real driving simulator!? Ahahaha. Maybe in some alternative universe...

    - there were so many lame bugs in the beginning, that it seemed they do not have a beta testing team at all! I created so many perfect Setting Sheets for so many cars, only to find out later they do not exist anymore!? Heeelloooo? Now I do not have a desire to do anything, it is like someone is sabotaging the whole project internally!

    - every AI always, but always tries to spin you out of track when you overtake them. They do not respect the blue flag at all, they even tend to block you not to lap them. Realistic sim driving for sure.

    - some very old games (for DOS/Windows 95), like Indy 500, Screamer, RBR, N4S Porsche have slightly better physics.

    - GT6, 5 and 4 were way more attractive, meaning this GT7 is just a graphics makeup of them, bringing nothing new except the tiresome Sports mode, non-functional multiplayer Lobby and useless and annoying offline mode, never-ever seen as such in the history of this world's gaming!

    - text speaking characters? Sarah reminding you to take a deep breath and try again?! So annoying and time consuming, that after seeing her, my only desire is to turn off the PS5 or play Mortal Kombat, if only it had the Sarah character to beat her up!

    - prices of most Legendary Cars are so unreasonably high, like it was meant not to have them. I cannot afford any new cars, just like in real life!

    - the purpose is micro transactions. What were they thinking? The naming is utterly wrong here! It should be renamed to Macro transactions, since you need to spend $200 to buy 20M credits in order to buy 1 legendary car! Hellooooo?! It should be forbidden by a UN charter of Human Rights. If you bought a game once, why should one pay more? Because management and development teams do not have enough imagination to create content interesting enough to intrigue you to play and play.

    - there is so much potential to implement many more interesting missions, historic races like 1000 Miglia, Monte Carlo races and rallies, the old Tour de France and many many more. But no, lack of imagination and ambition is what is more valuable or shall we say profitable.

    - some Gr.1 cars handle like a tart in cosmos hit by a meteor and AI drives them like blind drunk monkeys. Gr.3 and 4 cars being undrivable before the update to being more stable then Gr.2 cars after the update? If that was the case in real life there would be no racing in the world at all!

    - so much marketing noise about raytracing, where it only exists in demo cut-scenes and replays. It is basically the same as GT Sport or GT5 enhanced with 4K.

    - this game is not so much about racing, as it is a Pokémon of a game - collecting cars for a museum. It should have a slogan: Real Car-Collecting Museum! Why not connecting the earned/bought iconic car with unlocking a historic event where it shined/became famous?

I have so many cars (that I did not buy!) distracting me when changing cars, that I just give up on racing and just close the game. Why not implement an option which can be turned off/on that the last chosen view (when changing cars) should be remembered? It is just a dozen lines of code.

PLEASE REMOVE THE PAINFUL MICROECONOMICS, SONY, YOU ARE DESTROYING THIS GAME BEFORE IT CAN EVEN GET STARTED. DON'T BRING THE WORST OF REAL LIFE INTO VIDEOGAMES, WE WANT A BALANCED GAME,

!!!NOT PAY TO WIN AND GRIND TO PLAY!!!

The improvements did not make the game more fun, enjoyable, or replayable. So sad to lose out on such a great base for a game, it is just that the experience is absolutely not entertaining, it is work, and not a passive enjoyment which is why I personally play videogames. Also I have never felt like such a loser everytime I get a rulette ticket before I even open the ticket, when something appears random I shouldn't be able to predict the lowest outcome to occur 9/10 times. Please, make the game feel like it wants me to play it, I love Gran Turismo 2, 3, 4, and 6. Do some homework Poly-"Phoney" and create real incentives that keep me playing the game.

These tactics realated to establishing "Real Perceived Value" from an in game economy are going to appear in God of War Ragnarok, and Harry Potter Legacy as well. If there is a dedicated player base for a game....
SONY WILL FINANCIALLY TAKE YOUR MONEY AS WELL,
with very little offered in return FOR YOUR OBIDIENCE!

Update 1.110.000 has released and it is a great first step in reclaiming the some of the respect back for a game that should have released this way from the beginning.

I hope Sony tries a lot better to listen to what is going on economically in the world right now and understand they are going to have to make there money on digital transactions based on REAL PERCEIVED MONETARY VALUE, and I am certain spending a small amount of money up front to do some real market research would have done a lot to solve the PR problem that Gran Turismo 7 has become.

The game is basically a 10/10, but the micro-economy has to be explained clearly to the gamers so they understand what the limits truly are. Solid improvements but more is still going to need to be done about the offline play as well.

I have never played a Gran Turismo game that:
-The game still has an upper limit cap of 100,000,000Cr. on non-paid credits (Otherwise known as Earned Effort credits). Don't get me wrong that is a lot but there happens to be no limit on the amount of credits earned spending real world dollars, Otherwise known as your personal income. This could start going down a dark road in the future.

-You still can only fully play the game while connected to the internet at-all-times. (Sport and Online modes are an obvious exception).

-Why can I not sell cars, in a game trying to be the REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR. WTF SONY YOU ARE GETTING GREEDY.

The racing simulator physics in GT have long been the pinnacle of video game racing, but Pholyphony Digital seems to think this is enough to float their entire buisness. GT5, GT6, Sport, and now GT7, have all lacked any real progress toward a structurally good game. Racing "career" modes need improvements, such as qualifying races, standing starts, and more competitive AI. Instead, Polyphony has been re-releasing essentially the same game, over and over, with only graphical improvements. The only "new" additions to the game have been the mission mode and the track experience mode. Both of which are not related to any vehicle you have bought or spent time tuning, which further negates spending time to buy and tune cars... which is supposed to be the fun of these games. Of course the game economy is just salt in the wound: low credit earnings, inability to sell cars, overpriced cars, fake roulette prize system, and micro transaction encouragement. According to the tutorial system, the point of GT7 is to "collect" cars, which based on the economy system, is essentially impossible without spending real world money. Right now there is a massive hole in the Playstation racing simulator market. If one single developer released a GT clone with proper improvements, even with less cars, (who needs 420 cars anyway) I would leave this franchise and never come back. It boggles my mind that a game developer can spend 15+ years developing sequels to GT4 (which is the best GT game ever) and each one is just a half assed dumpster fire. Yet we all continue playing because there isn't a good alternative on Playstation. Selling your product because there isn't an alternative, is a weak buisness model. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Somewhat better than GT Sport because there is a dedicated but lacking single player mode. However there should be an option to shut up the annoying NPCs completely. The grinding in the beginning is unnecessary. GT4 was good enough with the licences limiting the available races. It is not necessary to force people to use cars they do not want to drive.
I am sorry for the absence of real endurance races. I hated the short races with tyre and fuel multipliers. They are back but they can not replace real endurance races. Apart from these pieces of **** and the mandatory races there are only 2 races with no multipliers. Daily races also most likely have them. On GT Sport only Daily Race C had them but in this ****load of a game Daily Race B tends to utilize them too. There are also cafe menu races with this **** The licences, missions and circuit experiences are another letdown. They are fairly easy (I had gold on less then the second time on average) but with the switches between different types of cars thanks to the improved handling model is very annoying. At the final test that kink before Blanchimont is a game breaker. Licences in GT4 were hard but fair and now they give us these easy tasks and trolling us in the end. It is also a shame this game can not be played offline.
The microtransactions are just idiotic and the roulette tickets exist only to give you the smallest amount of money 90% of the time and so they can say there is a (1%) chance of "winning" a car.
Also they fix one game breaking bug just to introduce another one with the patch.
Overall the game is gorgeous and the gameplay is somewhat nostalgic. The driving is much better than GT Sport. However the annoying new features, the missing old ones and the bug introducing fixes make this game an unfinished abomination in between GT Sport and a real GT title. I hope future updates will introduce changes that can change my mind but for now GT3 and especially GT4 are way better in my opinion.

Update: version 1.07/08 is even worse. Server was down for more than 30 hours and microtransations are encouraged after nerfing race rewards. And the only thing they do is making excuses. I do not feel motivated to play this game with the constant need to grind for credits.
Update: just found out that online qualifiers do not count as distance driven. What the hell am I doing then? Hundreds of kilometers driven lost from my stats.
Update: version 1.15: Online Time Trials added, but they do not count towards the daily workout (why should they?).
Update: version 1.17: **** barrier collision penalties return

The game is not even close to being finished, with a lot of content, possibly intentionally held back, for whatever stupid reason the company can come up with.

You guys remember economy in past Gran Turismos? Where you could win more than once the same car in a championship? This time, you can still buy cars, but... can't sell them to make a quick buck to buy cars that you actually want.

Events? You at launch had about 20 hours of content. Gran Turismo 4 for example has over 300. And 5 months down the line, you still barely scratch 50 hours with the updates added.

10% of the entire car count is based on cars tuned from road cars by PD or fantasy cars that no car enthusiast cares about, some that borderline defy physic laws and destroy the entire concept of the VGT program itself.

Quality of Life on this game like navigating between races, lobbies, custom races? Forget about it...

This is a return to Gran Turismo origins? Not even close... The game at its core can be the best racing game ever made, and I say this with no exageration. But the design decisions ultimately destroy a legacy of a game once loved by the racing gaming community.

On top of all this. For you to enjoy the single player content, you have to always be online. If your internet has some sort of bad connection or you simply don't have it, the game is literally unplayable.

The game deserves all the hate its getting. It's an absolute shame.

Piece of garbage not a game - used to be a fantastic racing sim; times long gone; so called official reviews are simply bought…

Especially super nice is when it kicks you out mid-race IN SUNGLE PLAYER due to lost connection and you need to repeat the race.

It doesnt offer anything for the casual playerbase to play with. Its a wannabe Esport Game that has forgot that Esports requires a playerbase, especially a casual audience in order to even grow.
But glad it has lottery tickets of disappointment on daily basis, that can only cause frustrationg by beeing useless and permanently giving the worst rewards.

As a simulation racer it was quite beyond shocking how good the cars felt on controller to the point plugging in a racing wheel felt a tad bit uncomfortable and the music as always is a great part of Grantourismo, and the graphics and such where quite good for a game and the dynamic weather and the minute details they made quite shocked me to the point that this is the first game that made me believe there was a gutter, but with all these negative reviews it's for good reason the harsh corporate greed that has plagued this game reallly is sickening and a lot has been said about the atrocious grind process and credit cost which i find quite deserving even though i love this game a lot for such little time it has been out. When i first had my long hand experience with the game was during the week of release and i had to say it was a damn fine game but afterwards the gameplay after that initial week was quite annoying with all the disgusting corporate greed. I expect a change to occur and the game will probably have one due to the harsh backlash it has received in and out the racing world with it's corporate greed and horrible online only system. This is a good game and i do not want to downplay it's worth due to recent news but this is a prime example of corporate greed and i hope the negative reviews incite the people at top dog positions to stop being greedy.

edit: As the hype for the game calmed down i have to say even after the updates im not completely content because whenever i boot up the game i just feel like it's missing something like that one last push till it's actually something i really enjoy but other than that one feeling i feel like it's still pretty harsh on it's microtransaction motto and the always online thing doesn't usually bother me but with a game as gran tourismo which i love constantly revisiting i just hope it prepares for longevity instead of a quick racing money grab. Everything here is still really solid with some of the best racing physics i have even seen and everything feels really realistic and the music and scrapes and the overall curated feeling they have conceived i love it and with the added story books and such i feel like this game is solid but i wish it goes back to the greatness it was at launch.

The lighting is what makes Gran Turismo 7 really superior in comparison with cheap game like Forza, the reproduction of high light glare reflection in GT7 is 3 gens ahead of any other games in the market right now, the car paint is so good it actually feels like a real car paint coating whereas Forza looks like plastic toy in comparison to GT7.

Don't trust review score because it is heavily malevolent bombed by Forza fanboy zombies who is paid by MircoSoft. They could manipulate review score by hiring thousands of fake accounts, but they could never manipulate the real sale number, GT7 has sold almost 5 million copies in just two months whereas Forza can hardly touch 1 million copies that they have to put it on XGP to create a delusion that some how millions of people play their **** game, but we all know the player number in forza horizon 5 is just a lie.

We can't trust reviews from gaming journalist if gaming companies are going to remove aspects of the game that they know will be unpopular in order to secure a better review to bolster sales. There are over 8500 negative reviews on this game mostly, due to, microtransactions, small race payouts, and lack of one player content so I won't belabor points others have already made. The one aspect of the game that people seem to be ok with is the the actual gameplay. However, I think this is subpar as well and this is largely due to the AI. The AI does not serve as competition for the player, it is only there to provide an illusion of competition. The AI in this game randomly receives grip and speed boost making practicing on a track to get better almost pointless. It doesn't race other AI's or the player. When you grind a race, you notice cars behaving exactly the same over and over again. The AI is programed to do certain things at certain times. That's it. I think Polyphony has grown tired of making Gran Truismo so they made GT7 to put the franchise out to pasture. That's the only way any of this makes sense. Expand

The daily "roulette ticket" reward system is probably the most offensive non-random anti-player-biased act I've experienced in a game. If it weren't for the latter I would have perhaps given the game a score of 2, as the graphics are good. Engine sounds and car handling are slightly better than "mêh". The lack of career content in terms of race activities on each of the tracks make for perhaps about 2-3 weeks of viable play time, maximum. Hey, not bad for a $100 title that still hs the audacity to offer MTX! Specialized tuning opportunities are hidden behind a "random-reward" wall that the player won't gain access to, even if he plays the game daily for the next century. The pre-1.18 patch roulette ticket glitch allowed players to circumvent the engine swap aspect of this, but alas this is no longer possible thanks to the latest patch. If this game is offered free PS Plus, I'd happily recommend it, but in terms of value as a premium purchase it's nothing short of a disgrace in spite of its so-called fixes in response to initial player backlash. Something that was designed from the ground up to exploit people for their money, cannot be fixed afterward and still be profitable. Expand

Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
