    PS4 gen game, Corridor slow pacing mostly forward-lined, super mediocre in terms of character progression and Armor/Weapon. Same monsters and locations as in gow'18. Continuous spoiling suggestions from mates on what and how to turn/put/solve/brake during a puzzles - shows how this game being targeted for 13+ year teen minds.. Climbing is also just for picture - does not engaging at allPS4 gen game, Corridor slow pacing mostly forward-lined, super mediocre in terms of character progression and Armor/Weapon.     Its just a polished game with story for teens Arteases age.
    However this game cant stand even closely with such big boyz like Assassin Creed Valhalla or Elden Ring.. It is not! its like an expansion for 2018 GOW
    Its meant to be the God(!)of War(!) not family dramma theater. I felt like characters have nothing to the Gods panteon but rather some village family..

    Decepcionante, estos de Santa Mónica que les tenía en lo más alto se han cargado esta maravillosa saga. Han convertido a KRATOS el jodido dios de la guerra que con sólo esa mirada a hércules se meo el los galllumbos en un tertuliano del sálvame. Juego soporífero muy a mi pesar.

It was the biggest disappointment of 2022, the story made no sense and the antagonists were a joke, the dialogue was corny Af, and the characters sounded like marvel characters rather than characters from Norse Mythology. Kratos is not Kratos anymore. Atreus is annoying af and overall the story feels like it was written by a child. They ruined a story that had so muchWtf was this game. It was the biggest disappointment of 2022, the story made no sense and the antagonists were a joke, the dialogue was corny Af, and the characters sounded like marvel characters rather than characters from Norse Mythology.     This game is horrible, horrible! The beginning is actually great, but after 15 hours it becomes extremely repetitive and boring. But the BIG problem is, this is not God of War, this is just a Marvel movie. They transformed Kratos into a banana; the guy only cry and talk about how he became a hippie. The only good character in the whole game is Heimdall, he's really cool, even Thor became aThis game is horrible, horrible!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the main story is really short,the game dont have time to develop characters like thor, baldr was better in 2018,the final battle to short only 2 boss and we see nothing during the ragnarok what are doing the other like Valkyries,were are skoll and hati ? ragnarok is chaos and there is only 3 death serious? god of war 3 is a better ragnarok that god of ragnarok ,there is not enough gods,no death ,and most importantly to short to develop the story and characters, less side quest and more ragnarok would be better,at least kratos has à good conclusions to his story,

    Encontré interesante el que estuviese un Dios de la guerra que provenía de la antigua Grecia para hacerle frente ahora a Dioses Nórdicos. Demasiado Soporífera, pierde muy rápido el ritmo que hace parecer al Digimon Survive un juego con mayor ritmo siendo    Como juego de video cumple a medias.

    Tristemente pierde demasiado ante el GoW 2018 que en su tiempo fue increíble, y para 4 años de desarrollo va diciendo que es un juego que tenían planeado sacarlo desde un inicio a la PS4, por lo que se lastró mucho para la nueva generación del que tanto presumen, ya no decir los múltiples glitches.

    A lot of tedious filler, picking up hacksilver, mashing attack button, throw axe at bucket, pick up hacksilver...repeat...just not very interesting to me. Also, the story felt a bit stale, seems like they've already covered most of their ideas for plot in previous games.

Graphics and OST are amazing, story is bellow average and gameplay is... bad. Atreus and Kratos were a disappointment, the people from Asgard talk like they're from California, Mimir and Freyr probably will be on the next Marvel movie and they killed the only good side character in the entire game. Just another terrible overrated third person walking simulator with reused assets and boring gameplay. In its core just a 80$ DLC for the already bad 2018 version. Stay away from it if you actually like video games and not movies.

    I expected more from this game. Sadly, it feels like a copy and paste from God of War 2018. The lack of innovation really hurts the narrative and dull gameplay. Once you look past the hype, this game is just another linear action game with a decent narrative.

    Dreadful Atreus levels w very limited exploration and rewards
    Then u got forced walk n talk, automatic platforming with zero danger and npc ''narrator'' telling u what to do 90% of the time. Game developers treat the player as baby....
    Very rushed ending

    Atreus and Angraboda (however you spell it) interactions were forced and corny, riding a yak collecting fruit....bro!? I'm trying to finish this game but every time I pick it up, I feel like I've done all this already 1000 times    … Expand

In 2018 he was a man driven to protect his son, but wouldn't hesitate to let his rage out if need be. In 2022, he's soppy old man talking about feelings and hesitating to kill nearly everyone.     The story this time around is laughably convoluted and the pacing is just atrocious. There are HOURS of unskippable walking sections and cutscenes that have you stuck listening to some of the sappiest dialogue imaginable. Sounds more like an ethics lecture for elementary school children than centuries old beings discussing the consequences of their actions.

    combat is still much the same as 2018 but feels more restrictive. A few late game abilities will reward you for just spamming the same move over and over.

    The creativity and roots of this franchise are gone and I dread the thought of Santa Monica's next game after all the smoke the critics have blown up their muffs.    … Expand

Mid-game I turned it all the way to the easiest, I was so bored I was watching YouTube while the NPCs were talking. No character evolution, no gameplay evolution, the story is pathetic. Avoid. Avoid avoid, it even killed the respect I had for the first one. How can you release a game like this. The story is almost all written in the mythology, how can you be so lame at writing a story??! Some people don't deserve their job. The puzzle mechanics?? OMG let me move the camera 1.5 seconds before giving me the whole solution and repeat it until I do what you asked for!! The graphics are the same than the first one but the story, OMG what a shame. The gameplay is worst, far worst. I wanted to play something else than Elden Ring for a bit, just to try this present I had for my birthday... Guess I'll uninstall and never purchase any God of War ever again. If you like Marvel quips you'll like dialogue, but if you're like me and you're a bit fatigued by that style of humor or you never liked it to begin with then much of the dialogue is very eyeroll inducing.     GoW ragnarök is based on classic Sony formula which turns games to boring simulator. It's repetitive and has lots of puzzles, not much new mechanics for a sequel. Game has 20-25 hours gameplay and just 10 hours is a pure cutscene.

    Santa Monica should transfer this game's licences to Naught Dog.

I was waiting 40 hours for the story to pick up and it never did. The best boss fights were in the first few hours. Game didn’t live up to the hype or years of waiting.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So where to begin. I really anticipated this game. Watched the release time go down like every evening after work. Than it finally came out. I started it and than.. Nothing. I just felt nothing. As the game starts you get pushed into a story a few years ahead after the end of part one. Now Fimbulwinter is reigning over the land. Simply form the very first scene, where Kartons sits at the bonfire In this cave the game didn't Catch me at all. The scene is way to long, and because there is no talking or any other significant action you don't know how to deal with it. Then both go to their sled and then finally you start taking real action in the game for the very first time. But still. No feelings.. You drive, they talk, the things spoken are not very interesting so far... Then out of nowhere Freya starts attacking you. Now there is the first time where we engage in that what the God of War franchise is known for the best. Fighting. But the fight just feels not right. I mean she has power over the land and stuff because of her magic powers and she easily could crush them in between all the rocks and stuff but she didn't. It just feels like the developers wanted to kickstart the game with this fight but they got it completely wrong. I mean why is she fighting them like this. I mean it should feel like hell brake loose. It is simply missing something. And this feeling carries on and on and on through out the whole game. I can understand that the game story wise needed to skip some years and that there are things like the dog dying and stuff that are new that need time to be explained. But the game, as good as it looks and as big and wound the story is meant to be, it lacks the one thing every game must have in order to make you feel like playing it all day long. It does not draw you into the world into the realm of the game. It does not give you the feeling of being a part of this world. I did not finish the game. This I need to say. Because every time I start it, after 10 minutes I want to close it. There is something in myself that tells me: "You are wasting your time." The only thing that kept me playing as far as I have played it (like 7-8 hours) is the combat and the possibility to discover and loot the world. I don't care for the story. There are so many things that disappoint me that make me really really sad, because the potential of a story and world like this is insane. Another big point where the developers, in my opinion, failed, is the music. The atmosphere. The level design it self is mind blowing immersive if you know how long it takes to build something impressive like this. The lighting is extremely good to. But there is no fitting music and therefor, completely missing atmosphere. This whole potential gets overlooked. You just go through the game like: "Yeah what ever." I remember God of War 2, the steeds of time level where you can just stand at the front end of the horses - the part where you have to free them - and the music is so subliminal but epic that it awakens a feeling in you like, you can really relate to the giantess and epic scale of the whole game. Within this few notes you can here the whole story of the game. But this feeling is missing completely. Any feeling is missing. They try to force you to feel, with overpriced emotional moments but again you don't get the chance to relate to the scenes. Next big negativ point are the conversations, mostly hollow and to modern, when it comes to the chosen words. Especially when Atreus speaks. In parts of the story logic is completely missing. Example: Atreus and Sindri secretly go to the lake of the nine - a well known area form the first game. There they try to awaken the world serpent. Sindri asks Atreus if he has tried calling the serpent. Then Atreus said that the horn was of no use. Than Sindri says: "Im not talking about the horn." And he immediatly starts calling the serpent in the ancient language it understands. LIKE WTF. He was there, year after year knowing that he can just call her and never did it. That makes absolutely no sense to me. Even the appearance of Thor and Odin is lame as hell. Such massive Characters - Lore wise - and then Thor appears just like that, simply walks in their house and says: "Nice place." In those moments I instantly want to close the game and delete it. Even Odin he just appears like that. I mean he is the Highest God of this realm and comes into his house, just like that to make a deal. And the whole situation with all the conversations just feels like the developers just wanted to get over with the introduction. Heartless. I would have wished for some more epic scale for their appearance. Something that does justice to the greatest gods in the realm. In my opinion, after so many great anticipated titles in last years that turn out to be hollow and superficial. Maybe its time to go back to the basics of gaming where the game it self did not needed to be a movie but something we love to play.… Expand

    This game no more than 7 out of 10, the same elements from the previous game,
    Slow and boring gameplay, mediocre story, bad AI enemies, repetitive enemies.
    I don't understand how people praise this boring game.
    Not worth the $70 price, better to wait for a price discount or not buy this joke at all.

    I went into this game with a super open mind even thought I hated the first and sadly I was beyond disappointed again. I’ll never understand why they have strayed so far away from what the original god of war games were. Maybe I’m just being nostalgic but the games are so different from the originals and the originals are the best by a mile. It’s has the same hack and slash element as the 2018 version, but some some new additional moves/combinations. I was expecting it to be on par graphically as say, Horizon forbidden west, it’s not.
    The bosses feel numb and un-rewarding when beaten. The only time I enjoyed this game, was when briefly you get to play as additional characters. Personally, I got bored of this game within the first few hours. It is most certainly a dlc of the 2018 game. Marketed as more. Genuinely dissatisfied and feel like £70 down the drain.     Anyway, it is just the same game as 2018 game. It has a lot of cuts seen, linear experience. You do not feel like a god ...their is no epic fight seen. I think they focus more on the narrative and the story. sadly, it did not clic with me .....

    No se puede consentir todo a Sony, no pueden vender un juego que lleva en el nombre una de las sagas más emblemáticas de la historia del videojuego, y que visualmente no innove en nada con respecto al de 2018. Es un juego pasillero a más no poder (falsamente la prensa de los videojuegos a nivel mundial nos lo han querido vender cómo la octava maravilla en un mundo abierto).

    No haces más que andar adelante y atrás en multitud de escenarios mientras Atreus te calienta la cabeza. Los escenarios son aburridos, repetitivos a más no poder. Los oponentes y sus físicas son de risa (por no decir que se quedan bugueados más de una vez, al igual que Kratos que se me ha quedado flotando fuera de uno de los escalones por los que trepas en dos ocasiones), las formas de atacar de los diferentes tipos de adversarios son básicamente las mismas.
    El audio merece una mención a parte, porque también falla. En ocasiones se quedan pillados los sonidos de respiración de Kratos en bucle, y también otros efectos sonoros.

    Es un juego lento, carece de ritmo (hasta hacerse tedioso y aburrido) y para colmo tras 12 horas de juego te puedes echar las manos a la cabeza con el absurdo inclusismo metido a calzador.

    Lo siento, soy un fan acérrimo de la saga. Pero esto no es ni la sombra de lo que ha sido Kratos y God of War.

    Por suerte la tienda online donde lo he comprado no pone pegas a la hora de devolver un juego abierto. Recuperaré los 80€ y cuando valga 20€ o incluso menos, entonces lo volveré a comprar por el mero hecho de tener mi saga favorita completa, pero poco más. Porque es un sin sentido lo que le han hecho.    … Expand

    A few really good fights and an awesome story unfortunately ruined by terrible pacing and gameplay. The majority of the game is spent on frustrating mandatory fetch quests, puzzles, walking simulation, and unskippable cutscenes. If you're already bought into the story from the first game it might be worth the time, but if you're looking for a fun video game this isn't it.

Plus when I paid attention, the music intrument too is exactly the same which was in the background music of Shadow of mordor, Of Course one would always crave to make titles which came out of no where (Unlike GOW which has developed grounds for pre-hyped anticipation) and made amass players fall in love with it's fight mechanics and combat systems. Speaking of fighting mechanics, Let me emphasize first that this is a 2022 title, The developers should strive to impress the audience, not some average combat mechanics which are only made cinametically impressive with button pressings i.e. O, R1, L1, L1+R1 etc. because they couldn't craft such mechanics into skill-based combat so they made it fixed like a movie, that's completely not fine. I urge every GOW fan to at least play a full gamethrough of a 2007's Dark Sector, and you will forget the Kratos Axe, and admire the fighing mechanics it offers ( Provided you like skill based combat as opposed to pre-fetched combat scenes). Anyway, I wanted to enlighten the GOW fans that it's developers are cherry-picking ideas from another massively successful title, but still didn't manage to surpass or even give us at it's par combat system which we could really enjoy.
    * And for a true gamer, which isn't really interested in a dull story line, they should have given the option to ski the cinametics, Seriously?, we have had far better stories to watch out there, it's a waste of time, watching a dull movie, which can't be skipped in it's fresh experience ( I know once you finish the game, you can skip in the Game+, but why not at our will)

    ** Wolfs: As far as I remember, In the first game, we have been slaying wolves, and all of a sudden here we see "The Boy" has a wolf pet, which as it dies, attempts to give a grieving touch to it. Hey? if you want to make it emotional, better make a attached character from the last episode die instead of a new "Wolf" which came out of no where, I didn't care even a little about it.

    Overall, there are far better games out there to play and have fun with, and at most this is going to be a one-time playthrough for me, unlike some other games out there, where gameplay never gets old!.    … Expand

    It’s kind of like a DLC for god of war 2018. If you really really really loved GoW 2018 then you might enjoy this game, but I thought I loved it, and now I can’t even finish ragnarok. Im waiting till I can smoke weed again to play this game because it’s just not that good

Kratos is now going to be worshipped, the Norse gods died, the prophecy that kratos would die wasn't true because apparently Sony doesn't want to kill their golden goose. Such an MCU ending. Kratos has literally killed all the people of Greece because when the Olympians died Greece itself died but now people worship him because he is a decent father?

    This game should have been about kratos doing everything he can to avoid Ragnarok because he knows when you kill the gods the lands itself dies and it should have ended with kratos dying.    … Expand

    Después de GOW 2018, arruinaron el gameplay por completo, me parece horrible el rumbo que tomo la saga y este juego no es la excepción, una buena historia con jefes aburridos, enemigos sosos y sin ninguna escena epica que lo haga memorable, al contrario de GOW I, II y III

    Time to beat is 20-25 hours and just under 15.5 hours of that is cutscenes.
    They've Marvel-ified/Reddit-ified the story and characters even more than the previous game.
    The game is 100% a PS4 title in every way and the amount of reused assets is embarrassing.

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

    Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.
