Frontier Hunter is a genuine Metroidvania game. Compared to our last work, Frontier Hunter has fuller stories, content, monsters, more exquisite scenes, smoother actions, and a more diversified, personalized cultivation system.

Despite the story shortcomings, there is a lot to like about Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune. The gameplay shines above the rest of its shortcomings, and the diverse upgrade paths for various characters through crafting, loot, and equippable skills really helps make the game feel fresh and exciting throughout a fairly lengthy adventure. Even a year or so after its release Frontier Hunter is worth checking out, despite the absolute deluge of other titles available in the genre.

Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune is a delightful metroidvania surprise that combines engaging combat customization, deep gameplay mechanics, and satisfying exploration. Despite its poor English localization and stiff cutscene animations, the game excels with its unique character abilities, challenging boss battles, and immersive sound design. Players will find themselves hooked on the game's addictive progression systems, making it a hidden gem worth exploring for all action RPG and metroidvania fans.

Metroidvania fans will find lots to like when it comes to Frontier Hunter: Erza's Wheel of Fortune. Being able to instantly switch between three characters, each with their own weapons, is a blast, and crafting and customising your gear with the cores of enemies is rewarding. The only thing that really lets it down is the fact that it's rather rough around the edges.

Ultimately, this game is a mixed bag. Its combat is addictive and well-designed, offering plenty of content, secrets, and mechanics to keep players engaged. However, the lack luster graphics, at times frustrating enemy design, and odd gameplay choices hold it back from reaching its full potential. It’s a game worth playing, but perhaps one best picked up during a sale.

Fortune Hunter: Erza's Wheel of Fortune can be quite cosy at times. The game doesn't lean so much on challenge and exploration can feel rewarding. Whilst it's not doing anything new or special, the ability to tinker with gear helps propel some individuality into the hectic combat. Movement and fighting feels good and, whilst the map is expansive, you can traverse it at a swift pace. Sometimes it's a visual treat and, despite the plot not grabbing me, there's enough in the gameplay to keep me interested.

Ease of access is the focal point of Frontier Hunter: Ezra's Wheel of Fortune, making the experience as easy as possible to consume at the start. Once the game starts asking more of you, the issues with hit boxes and juggle damage blindside you after hours of not influencing the experience too much. That on top of a bland narrative and character design that looks like unedited AI-generated content makes the overall product easily avoidable.
