I will be transparent and say that I have only spent about 5 hours with Firewall Ultra at the time of this writing, and have not had the ability to link up with friends or colleagues yet, so all of my time has been spent with random party members online. That 5 hours has been something of a chore though, and I was ready to step away within the very first hour of time with Firewall Ultra. As I said earlier, there is definitely something here, and an adjustment to environmental interaction, reloading, and the combat engagements itself could turn this around. Unfortunately, as it stands here now, I cannot truly recommend this as a VR game worth spending your time and money on, at least not yet.

We had high hopes for Firewall Ultra, but it ended up being a deception. Playing together can still be fun and graphically it looks neat as well, but the rest of the game actually disappoints. The gameplay does not feel right, the menus are a disaster to navigate, the special VR2 features are not used, the sound is inconsistent, and so on. Alas, Firewall Ultra is not what it should have been.

Firewall Ultra looks like a game that has been released in early access and it's very hard to recommend you play it in its current state: poor mechanics for VR, long waits to play, only two game modes, several features that are not active yet… It’s a no for the moment. [tRecommended]

Overall, Firewall Ultra has great gameplay elements working in its favor, but a lack of content and shameful grind and monetization systems make this a hard one to recommend at this point in time. Maybe after a few updates it’ll be ready to go, but for now it’s time for First Contact to grab another mag and get to work.

As a live-service game with a long road map ahead of it, it would be too early to consider this our ‘final’ verdict of Firewall Ultra. However, in its launch state, the game is riddled with bugs, as well as frustrating UI and design decisions that often make it a drag to play. If you nonetheless wade through all that, the core PvP Contracts and the new co-op Exfil mode can still be tense and exhilarating with the right team. If these issues are ironed out, it may have better prospects in the long run with more content to come. However, the pricing structure at launch (with its push towards additional in-app purchases after the initial base game purchase) cynically encourages you to spend more to unlock additional content and features. It’s difficult to recommend Firewall Ultra to PSVR 2 owners right now, especially compared to progression-less but more polished and varied options like Pavlov.

There are numerous bugs in this game that makes play difficult to near impossible. If your lucky enough to get a party into a lobby it won't be long before your split up on opposite teams , you have afk people that the game don't kick so they just sit there and farm crypto. Knives don't work by swiping you have to hit the r2 button for it to count as a stab. Theres almost nothing that dont need fixed. I say almost cause atleast the flashlights turn off and on as they are supposed to when you hit the button for on or off. The list of issues with this game is so massive by the time it's fixed it will be ultra 2.0 cause they will of had to fix about all the code in the game. I gave it a 4.0 because the underlying game is good and if fixed properly this can easily be 1 of the best shooters out but honestly at this point it's so wrecked your better off waiting till they can fix all the problems this game has. It pains me to write a bad review of a series I truely love but right now im wishing I had kept my vr1 so I could go back and play zero hour till this game is fixed. Save your money , save yourself a headache and wait , only thing this game has done for me so far is make me decide to wait from here on out for player reviews and in game streams before I buy another one no more pre-orders for me.
