I'm giving the game a very strong 7
It deserves all the praise it is getting but it does have one very big glaring flaw.
That's how long and frequent the cutscenes are and the game feels very unbalanced with its gameplay to cutscene ratio. It feels like the game is 50% cutscenes 40% gameplay. Now that can make this game someone's new favorite final fantasy game expecially if someone enjoy

Sadly I am not one of the.
And I personally can't give the game anything higher then a 7.
But what the game does well it does really well.
The combat is fun, the story and characters are great, the world in engaging .
Clive is the best Final fantasy protangists we had in a long time.
The action set pieces are spectacular But sadly the game constantly slows down and a crawl and I personally can't give it anything higher then 7 despite my praise due to how much I'm forced to put the controller down. Overall a good game and I recommend it to most people it just has its glaring flaws like most modern final fantasy games

Is the level design great, no. Are the side quests good, not really. Is there deep customization, no. If you’re looking for that stuff, there are plenty of RPGs that will do that better.

Take FF16 for what it is, an amazing interactive story with very solid combat

Excellent, characters and an amazing story, graphics and perfect soundtrack. The RPG elements (side quests, crafting, etc.) were simplified to attract new players, trying to make an action/rpg mix light, I preferred something denser in that aspect, but it doesn't make the game any less amazing.
Congratulations squarenix, congratulations Naoki Yoshida and the whole FFXVI team!

    Now with the pros
    - One of the best stories of the final fantasy franchise, has an good amount of drama, action, romance and on a good pace.
    - The soundtrack is AMAZING, specially on big fights
    - Visuals are beautiful, nothing that will change the games as it is, but it still really impressive.
    - Gameplay feels good, fast with a few variations of skills.
    - Hunts are cool, wish it was more of them.

Seriously, its a final fantasy like any other, really loved the action improvement related to 15 bloaty weapon system. Soundtrack is perfect, graphics are amazing and all this technology to present a good story.

Sad about it score tho, people are complaining that the game CBU3 showed its not what they had in mind

The core of any Final Fantasy game is its strong story and characters, and I frankly don't care if the game is "too linear" or "not open world" as long as the story is riveting and well delivered. In fact, it's sometimes nice too not have to worry about FOMO with open world games or get upset over the illusion of choice when your choice actually has no impact on what happens. And what a ride this game is! I'm frequently alternating between raising my fist in euphoric victory or having goosebumps erupt on my skin--especially during the eikon fights. The narrative scale is big--delving into several different warring nations with very different cultures. The cast is huge. Clive is a compelling protagonist to meet during childhood (there is a slight bittersweet feeling since you know that BAD STUFF is going to happen to such a good-hearted and promising kid) and follow through adulthood.

The side characters are well fleshed out. Channeling Game of Thrones, not everyone is safe, yet their deaths don't feel contrived. The voice acting is phenomenal! Shout out to Cid! I've played several other Final Fantasy games (with a few recurring characters that usually take minor roles), and FF16's is my favorite Cid.

The cinematics are beautiful. Other people have mentioned frame dropping but I have luckily not noticed any issues with that on performance mode. I enjoy the battle system. I'm more of a grind, overlevel, and become OP kind of person (ie opposite of Dark Souls). I actually found the fighting style pretty complicated if I wanted to fight smartly/do combos instead of button mashing. It is so satisfying getting a simple perfect dodge followed by counter. There are so many possible eikon-driven combos to try out as you progress through the game. And you can respec your abilities at any time for free.

There is so much I could go on and on with. Such a goooood game!

FFXVI doesn't fail to deliver brining with it a refreshingly mature and darker narrative than previous installments and a satisfying new take on combat that pushes the franchise further down the path of transitioning from turn based to more fluid action focused combat which has been evident with installments evolving this way since the FFXII era. Pushes the envelope beyond expectations however is the sheer fun and exhilaration added by Eikon battles, these larger than life battles will have you on the edge of your seat and set a new standard for how satisfying every boss fight should be.

What has been delivered here may not satisfy a gamer who seeks retro style games with turn based combat, but it has met the standard set by modern RPG competitors and created a uniquely FF spin on what a modern RPG should be. Let's not forget the phenomenal production quality this game provides as well, the soundtrack be Soken never fails to amaze and the world crafted by the amazing art and design teams at Square Enix make this possibly the most immersive and visually stunning experience I have had while sitting on a couch.

This is a different game all together: an effort for Square Enix to maximize its sales worldwide as a AAA title. Meaning that it has to let go some of the tropes that has made the series popular to begin with: turn based battles. This, along with FF XV, is the nail on the coffin for that particular mechanics, with the company actually hiring a Capcom veteran to supervise the action sequences. What we have is an enjoyable, albeit simplified mechanics that can be played by those who are not used to action games such as DMC, yet complex enough to be enjoyed at that level. This obviously drew a lot of criticisms from many older fans, hence the 'lower metacritic' scores. However, I do agree with them in some points: this game is uneven. It carries Square's worst traits in the last few years: it's inability to create an open world RPG that is the flavor of today's gaming landscape and its predisposition for them to tell the audience THEIR story, instead of having an audience of 'creating and living' in a story of their own making. This is a linear experience that reminds me so much of FF 13, with characters designs similar to FF XII. The positive side, in term of presentation, Square literally has gone all out and it is an incredibly produced game. You can see that looking at the scope and cost of this project, they literally moved all of their resources here, leaving some projects such as Forspoken, feeling unfinished. However, despite its advancements, it feels literally a primitive game in comparison to Tears of the Kingdom or last year's Elden Ring,, with its focus on emergent gameplay, without sacrificing its narrative. Will it sell millions? For sure. Is it a game changing sequel that will win game of the year? Sadly, it isn't. Expand

Amazing dear to heart story amidst the dark setting, gorgeous environments and attention to detail, FF16 stands as a refreshing reinvigoration of the FF franchise. While a lot say it’s not FF, I’d argue it’s completely untrue, not with all the references and similar aspects of the much older FF titles 1-5 no one ever compares it too rather than FF7 onwards. Pair that with Soken’s godly soundtrack and unforgivingly epic spectacles with an amazing cast that leave me jaw dropping, FF16 is without a doubt a strong entry that deserves to be praised unlike the fake controversies stirring up. All in all, my only gripes are the performance mode, and the early side quests which can be basic (but the rewards of story much later pays off). Well, but the highest points are so ridiculously high it overshadows it. I can see why this may not be a game for some, but to those that understand Final Fantasy is a title that constantly evolves itself, I believe this is the right step for the future of the franchise after FF15’s development Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. About half way through the msq and I have had an amazing ride so far! The graphics are stunning especially the battle cutscenes! I feel pumped up every single major battle!

The music is also good and some of the tracks are total bops (especially the ones in major battles).

I am loving the story so far and I think it has a really good main romance if you are in to watching a good slow burn ship.

The side quests are the usual side quests in jrpgs. I actually have been reading them. Normally in jrpgs I like to skip the dialogue for side quests and just get them done. Are some of them “boring” fetch quests? Yes, but there was only one so far that I felt was super boring and could not wait for it to end and it was one of the last ones that I did. I have done every single side quest and hunt when they appear so far. All of the side quests do give better world building and look at the people in the world and how they are dealing with the difficult circumstances so I do recommend doing them. Most of them take no time at all to do. Some of them also lead up to you getting a trophy for the in game trophy shelf (like some of the apples or a chocobo saddle), ability to ride chocobos, or increased potion potency when you use potions. It may not be anything flashy as a reward (so far at least) but it still gives you something and you get more background story. As for the hunts, I really have enjoyed those battles.

There is basically no exp grinding in this game. I personally look at that as a plus though. I am also not using any of the help rings that the game gives you but you can make the game more difficult or easy to your liking which is nice. I love the battle system as well. It has been very fun especially when you stagger the enemies. There are a handful of characters I really love so far: Clive, Jill, GAV, nektar, Joshua, and of course CID!! Cid in this game has to be one of my favorite characters in the whole entire franchise so far. I 100% recommend anybody to play this game!

You feel for the characters and hope specific things happen for them. The interactions and tension between the characters is extremely well written particularly between Clive and Jill. Cid is another stand out character. The soundtrack is also fantastic. Negatives: the combat is not very good, the need for a stagger bar on enemies just drags out fights. They also are very predictable. Kill mob, kill mob, kill mob and then more join with a tanky stagger enemy. There is also no benefit to doing flashy combos as they don't work well on tanky enemies and they are pointless to use on the weak mob enemies. You can't even use what would be super effective moves in this as the opposite elements do no bonus damage, and it feels wrong killing a bomb with a fire attack. They are living fire. The game is also missing main stay enemies like tonberry and cactuar etc. The combat feels like a less fleshed out devil may cry combat. While I do think the story is overall great... the ending sucks so much, it really falls flat at the end. The side quests are 75%-80% garbage fetch quests or go talk to x,y,z. They do have some that are fantastic but it's like 6 side quests. The item customisation/crafting is probably the worst I've seen in a final fantasy game in a long time, and the RPG mechanics are so thin they might as well not exist.

The game is a great game overall, but it isn't without issues. It is also incredibly easy, which is both a plus and negative.

I think this game is a banger when it comes to game experience. Eikon battle is breathtaking and never felt so intense playing game before. Also, the music, it is amazing, it fits so well with the game scenes. I`m not sure if I will play the second round but definitely getting DLC if it comes out. My only advice is, play the game yourself, demo is out there for free. You must experience this game yourself and if its not your type, that`s totally understandable but never `not` play this the game because of mixed reviews.

I wrote a very long review and accidentally closed the window. I really don't feel like writing it again, so I will only say this: I love this game so much. It's a beautiful cinematic experience with a heavy story focus and a lot of lore to discover. The characters are great, the combat fun, and the world is beautiful. That's honestly all I want out of a game, hence my score.

This is the best FF game since 10, and possibly the best story and main character of any FF game. The side quests and combat are a huge leap forward from FF15 and even the FF7 Remake. The amount of story and world building that you discover via side quests is enormous. Active Time Lore system should be implemented in every story heavy game. The music is amazing. The Eikon battles are great.

Combat System cross and delight, well done, spectacular but the difficulty level is too low. Rpg side non-existent, it's just a decoy. A game that is basically based on the elements there are no elemental weaknesses and resistances. Absence of altered statuses
On the one hand, I'm happy for all those who have killed and hated the XIII
The Bosses have the flaw that once an HP threshold is exceeded if you ever die you start again from that threshold and moreover having all the potions again
The very superfluous levels, equipment and shops
This is pretty much a XIII done better
It's pretty much Linear as much as that, we have pretty much the same sequence exploited. Cutscene, Fight, Cutscene, Fight. Exploration is bare bones not to say empty world. The Dungeons another negative note
The secondaries are all fetch quests on a positive note they are well written, they improve your knowledge of the world they have created. It doesn't give you much incentive to go out fighting due to the lack of experience they give you and on top of that the rewards are mostly all useless.
There is a lack of minigames

The hype surrounding this game baffles me. There's nothing unique or especially great about literally anything in this game. The combat is just smashing square and using abilities on cooldown. Super repetitive and requires no real strategy. Crafting is completely pointless as you can hardly ever craft new things. You don't have to farm any resources for crafting either because you always have 10x more than you need any time you can craft weapons or gear. Exploration is pointless as well. There are no collectables to find and every area generally looks the same. Side quests are all fetch quests and the only thing you get most of the time is more crafting materials that you don't need for doing them. The main story is just ok, but the comparisons I've heard to Game Of Thrones and Witcher are inaccurate. The voice acting is great and the graphics are decent but unfortunately that's not enough to carry this game, especially at $75 price point. This feels like an early PS4 game. I think the ppl giving this 9s and 10s are just huge FF fans. So if you're not, I would skip this title as it is extremely weak imo. I am about 20hrs in and I am planning on returning it to GameStop. All exaggeration apart, it really has some fantastic features and some terrible ones, particularly for a game that was shipped in 2023 rather than 2003.

The game is fantastic because the story is epic and melancolic, the combat design is great and dynamic (although sometimes repetitive) and the art is amazing. The eikon battles are really great and memorable video game moments. The dynamic battles were a surprise but quite satisfactory in the end. As a souls player, having to learn patterns and parry / avoid felt familiar.

The problem is all that greatness comes between a lot of mediocre content.
Most of the secondary characters are not memorable (to say the least : let's not even talk about female representation). Most of the side quests are really, really lame (come on, so many fedex quests in a AAA game from 2023 ?). Also the bestiary is disappointing, there are just variations of like 10 enemies in the end.
Apart from the main story, most of the dialogues were just variations of "the world is ending but please help me find my dog", but much longer and more boring. All of the story's epicness is swallowed in dullness.

Finally, some features just really suck ?

Two examples that just add unnecessary friction :
    * When you are doing one of those fedex quests and collect three items for someone, when you have them, the game opens a pop-up menu where you have to manually click each of those three items, to end the quest.
    * Some doors (probably to change zones and load the new zone) require that you push R2 for a couple of seconds.

I really had trouble reaching the end of the game because of all the friction and boring moments but I HAD to reach the final battles and the end of the story.

Exploration is pointless because the vast world only exists for you to fight the same small roster of enemies over and over again, so they can drop 2 gil and crafting ingredients for a crafting system you'll NEVER use once. There's no gear loot to really speak of, no minigames, superbosses or collectables. The world is one big barren content wasteland, you're not going to be stumbling into any secrets, dungeons or fun diversions here, just crafting ingredients as far as the eye can see. Elemental affinities are gone, as are status ailments, oh, and magic only exists in the form of a single reskinned projectile depending on your Eikon flavour of choice. No party system either, just a couple of NPCs and a dog that follow you around silently. You'll forget they're even there. Story "high points" are always followed up by hours of mind-numbing busywork for poorly animated NPCs who task Clive with bread deliveries and menial labour. The sidequests are honestly terrible, like they're something out of 2009, and even if there WAS interesting lore behind them, you're going to be too uninterested to care/notice because of the terrible presentation and coma-inducing dialogue. The discount DmC combat is fun at first but grows very routine since you just demolish enemies 24/7 with no effort whatsoever. You can string together endless combos and for your efforts maybe you'll be rewarded with a 5% exp boost and fractionally more crafting ingredients than normal.

Don't throw away your money like I did.

I have been playing the game for almost 25 hours now and I am extremely disappointed with the game. I never thought a main final fantasy entry could be this bad. I respect people who enjoy the game, but I look at the amazing triple A games we saw this year and the last couple of years and I can't help but feel that this game doesn't stand slightest bit of chance against these other games (God of war, FF7 remake for example). Everything in the game screams half baked. Combat is repetitive, non challenging, non tactical. I wish the combat could be compared to devil may cry or Bayonetta. I would've enjoyed it if it did. At the very least DMC had combo structures and tactics behind it. This game simply doesn’t, you rely on a standard combo that you can mix with magic bursts. You basically only unlock two additional basic moves: stinger, and a helm breaker. Combat goes like this: combo and mix magic bursts and evade when needed. Release all your eikonic abilities, wait for them to cool down and keep doing the same combo with magic bursts and evade when needed. All the flashy stuff you saw in trailers are eikonic abilities that need cool down to be used again. Magic has no effect on enemies. Facing a fire lava beast? Blast him with fire and it will take damage with no problems. No poison or sleep or silence effects. Need to buff your attacks? Use an item. Want to heal? Use a potion. Can you ask the dog to heal you? Yes, but it does almost no effect.

Graphics is just another giant mess. They opted for a non open world game and we ended up with poorly lit, barren areas with players having to literally crank the brightness slider to the highest possible to be able to play the game. At the very least FF15 felt fun to roam the world. That game had day and night cycles, interesting missions and hunts, party member to keep you company and make the game fun and enjoyable to play despite it having a dark sad story, when you rested at night and cooked a meal you felt you were relaxing like the characters. That game was made with love.

Games like god of war and ff7 remake were both linear games and had beautiful environment designs and ran near perfectly smooth with no issues. I don't know what to say about the story except that I felt I have been experiencing a cliche play displayed at an underground theater for amateurs. I hate to be so harsh, but there's nothing remotely exciting for me in this game at this point and I feel sad about wasting 70 USD. I have to be so critical because I am a big fan of the final fantasy franchise. I always expect immense creativity from square enix especially when it comes to final fantasy games but this game is just a sad half baked product that feels extremely disappointing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game started off strong, with solid pacing, a strong premise, interesting characters and dialogue, but the game's quality quickly plummets. Themes of War, Racism, Classism and Environmentalism all take a backseat to the typical “diety is an ass" plot. They had a chance to keep this story grounded in the human conflict like the precious Game of Thrones they admire, but instead go for this nonsensical villain who can't mind break Clive when he had ample chances to do so.

    Spoiler Thoughts:
    The story
-They ruin Joshua's character; as an adult, he just waffles and riddles all the time; he'd talk about his brother's fate as if he had some revelation to reveal to the player when we first meet him, but he didn't; he's just some clueless wanderer with awful dialogue.
-Annabella appeared to be a really interesting character at first, but by the end, that wasn't the case; she did things that seemed like she had knowledge that would be revealed later on, but instead, she was just a generic evil mother with no depth, no redeeming qualities and no character arc.
-Speaking of character arcs, they don't exist in this game. Clive had one at the start where his motivations changed from vengeance to saving the world, but that was the only interesting one; otherwise, all the characters are one tone with no development.
    Endgame Story
-Ultima and Barnabas, were disappointing villains, just generic bad guys.
-Ultima was just a generic monotone evil deity who wants no free will. So the game's theme is "defying fate". What interesting thing can we as players take away from it? Absolutely nothing!
    The Sidequests
-The sidequests are terrible; I completed them all and regret wasting my time; they are simply fetch quests or killing generic bandits/monsters. There were no interesting side villains or plots. At least some companions had tailored sidequests, but it was such a waste of time as there was no character arc or deepening of our understanding of the character in a MEANINGFUL way.
-The sidequests were also always low budget, with everyone just standing there with 0 expressions and talking monotonously, it was a real snoozefest. We didn't need 100 different sidequests; Focus on Quality over Quantity!
    The companions
-The companions don't even have their own opinions; they just suck up to Clive or exist. The vendors, Joshua, and Jill are dull and with no development. Jill has some but it was just to be a damsel and do nothing by losing her powers.
-Gav and Cid were the only interesting hideaway companions.
    The protagonist
-Clive was interesting as a kid and in his twenties because he had interesting exchanges with everyone, but he becomes boring in his thirties. I wish he had a smidgeon of personality or depth but he stays flat, anyone who could have had an interesting dialogue with him is gone like Cid.
    The good
-I will say that the boss fights with Benekdita, Hugo, and Dion were spectacular, but with the main villains being ass, the sidemissions being bloated, and none of these characters getting proper development, it just feels like this game is just short-lived spectacle with no depth.
    The Gameplay
-Combat was pretty good at first, but after you've mastered everything the combat has to offer by the 20 hour mark, then onward it just feels like you turn your brain off and use muscle memory to get a victory. This combat would have felt more appropriate for a 20-hour experience like DMC rather than FF, which was 50 hours long for me. You gain new abilities, but it doesn't make the game any more enjoyable; you still have to dodge and spam supers to reduce health, because your normal hits barely do anything anyway.
-Gameplay could have had longevity if there were RPG elements in it, but without them, the game's combat drags. Weapons and armour were simply chosen based on higher stats, and rings had minor effects such as +5 damage, which were completely useless when your base damage is like 400.
-The maps have no interesting loot. Chests contain useless items such as +5 salt. You realise the illusion of exploring pretty quickly, where you find you are wasting your time and are best off doing objectives.
    Conclusion
Overall, the game was interesting until Anabella died, after which it died. Sidequests are a pain. The gameplay becomes monotonous. Pacing is hampered by some main quests that also have long fetch quests. There were no interesting characters left alive. Interesting characters such as Benedikta, Hugo, Cid, and Anabella perish. Dion was interesting but becomes lifeless when joining the crew.
    Marketing
-I don't like how marketing lied about the sidequests being deep.
-They also made it appear as if there would be a deep story, instead, it was a straightforward story of man versus deity, but with tedious Kingdom Hearts waffle dialogue. They didn't even use flashbacks for Valthesia in the past, instead, we just get boring exposition from Ultima. The game struggles with telling but not showing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another disappointing entry since FFXIII and another AAA bumble that shows how far the gaming industry has fallen.
Visuals are fine I guess though the facial expressions of characters remains unchanged since the PS3 era. Music is mostly good with highs and lows. Story is somehow better since the Devs understood that they don't need to shy away from mature themes and presentation. Still underdeveloped though.
Characters are mostly empty husks except for Clive and Cid and that is very obvious with Jill that simply exists in the game just for the hero to have the most boring romance ever made in a videogame. The fact that you don't have a proper team like every other mainline entry to follow you at all times doesn't help either.
Combat is one of its strongest points, indeed plays like DMC but suffers from the fact that it takes too long to acquire new Eikons which give you new abilities to experiment. Areas are either straightforward or some semi open spaces that offer nothing for those who search every nook and cranny. Just empty MMO garbage with a bit of FFXIII feel.
As for it's best aspect, that is the main story boss battles that look and play gorgeously, even the Eikon battles that don't exactly offer any difficulty or skill to prevail, just spectacle. It's probably the easiest FF I ever played and even action mode(normal) offers almost no challenge at all.
It's worst aspect and that which infuriated me the most are the unnecessary and immensely boring side quests (around 100 of those, excluding monster hunts) that along with some tedious story moments made progress a slog. Around 50% of the main story I started skipping every cut scene from the side quests. Videogames are meant to be fun above everything else and to me it felt like doing work/chore of the worst kind. Game Devs, we don't need an RPG to be a 100 hours long to think that our money is well spent. With 30 hours of quality we're content, something you don't seem to understand and for that you'll eventually go out of business. Fun and escapism are the key words, got it?

PS. People who give FFXVI 0-1 are dumb, but those who it 9-10 are window lickers and paid shills and deserve every garbage AAA title that comes their way. As for me this Final Fantasy is the Final nail in the coffin, I've had enough really.

I’ll start with the positives, the story was immersive with great graphics on the cutscenes and great voice acting. you grew a bond over time with the characters, the main objectives were clearly marked and progressed the story appropriately, and although I saw instances where cheery music was playing when something tragic or intense was happening during a few cutscenes or right after the cutscene it was great music for the most part. The eikon battles had me feeling like I was controlling a power ranger megazord so that was pretty fun and exiting. -As much as I tried loving this game I simply found too many things that I personally didn’t enjoy, I couldn’t explore the beautiful world as much as I wanted too since there was no incentive to do so! You would find like 2 Gil in a corner of a map or a few steelsilk after defeating a tanky creature.
-The side missions are absolutely mediocre, take plates of food to 2 people… take apples to 3 people. I couldn’t believe how lazy and uncreative these missions were written into the game, there’s a handful of decent ones but for the most part they’re terrible.
-The combat was somewhat new and refreshing at the beginning but I didn’t really feel any reward for defeating a majority of the bosses in the game, instead of making them challenging to fight it feels as though they just slap more HP on them.
Overall the game consists of watching a 30 minute cutscene then you fight a few enemies in between, do/or don’t do some terrible side quests, reach your new destination/objective and watch another 10 minute cutscene. Rinse and repeat.

For those people worried about how much different this game is to past games, don't worry about that. It's not a turn based battle system anymore but that shouldn't matter in the long run if the gameplay that's here is good and it's great. The action styled combat is terrific. With tons of battle options and things to do, it's really fun, especially the Eikon or summon fights that serve as easily the biggest draw in my book to get people to play this game. The story is very well done, albeit with the caveat that it dives deep into a few tropes that I personally HATE towards the end of the game. But it's not afraid to have a heavy dose of a level violence that surprised me alot when compared to past games as well as depicting multiple sex scenes that, while not graphic, were here. In past games, it was a wonder if the characters even knew what that word meant but it's very clear here. The influence of Game of Thrones is so beyond obvious it might as well not even be said, but I love that they weren't afraid to go the extra mile here for a more mature experience. The characters feel realistic and most of the voice performances were outstanding, most particular the actor for the main character Clive. It really brought me in to the experience. My main gripe, outside of the tropes, is that the middle portion of the story can drag badly after one of the most climatic fights in the whole game and that the experience feels more linear then I was hoping for with a lack of side quests until the very end of the game when they stuffed it to the brim with them. Overall this is an experience that I will recommend to every RPG and Action game fan I can. Do not let the people complaining about this "Not being their Final Fantasy" dissuade you from playing one of the best FF games ever. It's probably in my top 3 FF games ever, with it being a few terrible tropes away from it getting a 10 for me. Expand

The game is a bit slow, dry dialogue at times, and an overuse of cutscenes, but later in the game it really picks up and the story gets a bit more personal. I enjoyed the 52 hours I got out of it and will likely play it again someday.

Great and stunning scenes. Very nice. But the frame drops frequently.

    Story: (3/10)
Telling is very bad. Does this guy want revenge? Why did this guy give up so easily? This guy wants to save people but not himself and his loved ones?
Added sub-stories to the main story so they extended play time. Have to stop or drop the game because of storytelling. Sub-stories are boring but it is rewarded at the end.
But the ending is............ It doesn't have depth of story and also not enough narratives to convince the player. Ending makes it even worse.

    Music: (10/10)
One of the main reasons to play ff16. Normally music reminds me how great the game was... but I don't want to think about this game

    Battle: (8/10)
Not an easy game, but there are modes and items to make the game easy. Which was very good. Button pressing game but it has more depth in 2nd playthrough.
However, do they expect us to play the 2nd playthrough with this? Also, you can't play with other team members.

    GamePlay: (7/10)
UI is not comfortable. No running in the village. Can't mark the object if you are not on the map. Useless Trophies. Some of the event scenes are too long or short of explanation. Couldn't balance the events.

    Overall: (37/50)
Very disappointing game from Yoshida. He told us he focused on the story. But it's not good. It's for him and his team members only. I don't mind if it's not a RPG, or old FF style. But this was a failure of the FF franchise.
The game wants to be a 'Sony' style game. I see why. It worked somehow, but lost FF styles. Yoshida called himself a gamer, but I think he misunderstood.
His ego and mind just works with his team mates, but not work with FF fans or other gamers. It's about time to let the FF franchise go. Never going to buy the game from Yoshida again.

Despite a few technical issues, FFXVI is a gold standard in storytelling, epic cinematography, mind blowing action sequences, and many more. I also didn't think the gameplay itself would be as deep and enjoyable as it is. Thank you Square, especially Yoshi P for delivering beyond our expectations. Definitely worth buying a PS5 just to experience this masterpiece on launch.

New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
