    Another Excellent entry into the Final Fantasy series. It may be different from previous titles but the story really carries the experience. The inspirations from Game of thrones couldn't be any more obvious. Can't wait for the DLC that was just announced!

    Combate maravilhoso, trilha sonora marcante, história original e um espetáculo visual! Final Fantasy XVI entrou no hall dos melhores jogos da vida!! Ponto baixo é que poderia ter missões secundárias mais envolventes.. o mundo é denso e envolvente, poderia ser mais explorado nas secundárias. No mais... Recomendo totalmente o game!     Final Fantasy XVI is the most enjoyable title in the mainline series (excluding FFXIV).
    Combat and Eikon's fight are epic and impressive.

    I like straightforward storytelling, pretty much like watching long-epic dark-fantasy dramas.

    Clive is hot. Trust me. And the soundtrack is good, too. All around, a wonderful title. It's big, and nasty. Tried fitting the whole thing in my mouth at once. Turns out, I bit off more than I could chew. Easy "A".

    20 hours into the game and I can say I’m consistently blown away by how much I’m enjoying it. The combat is cheff’s kiss. The story is full of unexpected thrills, twists and turns. The characters are interesting, awesome and some very funny. Very impressed by the voice acting in this title. It’s definitely one of the best games of the year or of all time for me.

    Amazing game in every aspect. The combat is smooth and slick at 60fps while the story is gripping rite from rhe start. The abilities look absolutely stunning way better then I have seen on any other consoles. Many fighting style options. Do not miss this exclusive playstation 5 game.

    Yoshi-P and the crew did it! Delivered a solid Final Fantasy game. Different, yet familiar. It is all in there and i wish the series keep innovating with new production teams experimenting new takes on the fable of the crystal. The setting and OST are only the tip of the iceberg. A must play!

    A wonderful game with dark story and strong characters. Final Fantasy XVI has changed its original formula but with success, full packed with action, emotion and magic, a must play. I was engulfed in the game since the very beginning and I am eager to go back to its world. Thanks Square for this game.

    What a phenomenal game. I loved the story which hooked me in from the start and propelled me to get through all the quests that advanced it. The combat was very fun, especially all the major and pivotal fights. I’ve never experienced such thrill in previous FF titles, not to say they weren’t fun.     Very good game! Sadly Baldur's Gate 3 fanboys are right now review bombing both Tears of the Kingdom and Final Fantasy XVI. I'm not sure why or what is their goal, because Baldur's Gate would never win GOTY anyway, but i guess they just want to show how toxic they are.

    Story: I'm not a fan of mid 19th century europe thing so I don't have high anticipate or enjoy that kind of story like. But FFXVI lacking the humor the silly character interact with each other which is the charm of original FF series, it's just so serious.

    Graphic: the most appreciated part of the game.     World: I don't mind with the map point thing cause FF is not elden ring, let be real GOW also have same world map loading point like this. But again the feeling it gave me different from FFVX' world, FFXV world is also empty but stunning.

    Music: always be the field Square is the expert. It's not perfect as FFVII remake but cannot complain anything.

    Character: no development in character at all, even the timeline of the game is years. No deep down in character personality or growth aspect, only Clive have more story telling and other is very plain and straight forward, even Clive he is so straight forward person type since the beginning till the end. Not wrong since that is the thing he is emphasized for but I feel so unreal. Jill is big disappointing for me. I was looking forward for her back story but it's just over dramatic with lacking story content.

    Combat: combat is fun enough with me but really not hard even with a person cannot play soul game like me. You just need patient repeat dodge and waiting for eikon skill to replenish and slowly reduce the enemy health (even with high difficult monster hunt). And no party member can be control is the huge minus.
    I had so much fun with the combat, but as long as going sometime feel like chores because you have no choice other than control Clive.

    50% side quest are not necessary. They can reduce the quantity then not so much complain.

    In conclusion, I enjoyed the game for sure and the story sometime got me well but I don't think I can play NG+ and come back time to time like I did with FFXV. I hope next main line will be less serious less emperor more fantasy more world building, like old FFIX FFX. And please It's Final Fantasy, don't kill the party fighting thing, we need companion in action.    … Expand

    So far, best game of 2023! Second place goes to Resident Evil 4 Remake and third place....maybe Dead Space Remake. I personally don't care for Baldur's Gate, mostly because it has outdated 90s combat and zelda also never interested me. Hogwarts Legacy was decent, possibly my 4th place this year and then....Jedi Survivor. But all that can still change, because there's tons of great gamesSo far, best game of 2023!     The game’s content is another area where Final Fantasy 16 shines,

    The game offers plenty of content for players to enjoy such as side quests, mini-games, collectibles, challenges and secrets.

    Some of this content is fun and rewarding such as hunting rare monsters, playing card games, finding hidden lore, helping out NPCs.

    The game also features a New Game Plus mode which allows players to replay the game with all their progress and items carried over as well as access to new content and features such as alternate endings, extra bosses, and harder difficulty levels.    … Expand

    Absolutely amazing. Wonderful return to the soul of the series. Stutters visually every now and then but looks and plays wonderful without a patch. Glad I chose PS5 for their commitment to story driven games, sorry XBOX.

    Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake are best Final Fantasy games of all time, They are both modern (real time combat), have perfect voice acting, amazing graphics and amazing story (yes FF7 Remake story is even better than the OG, because they added and improved so many things). Hype for FF 7 Part 2!!!

    Great game overall. Didn't like the story much at the end but it pretty much feels like final fantasy. Other than that i had no bugs encouter but few framrate dips.. not game breaking tho. I would say wait until price drop. Don't feel like it's worth $70 somehow. Finally I wish they made the story at least more compelling by making it longer..     Finally a really good singleplayer Final Fantasy game.

    - Epic and emotional story - You see cutscenes which is good, it always makes the game better - The storytelling is out of this world - Soundtrack is maybe one of the best in the series - Good graphics - Incredible gameplay mechanics - Its linear which is good for a jrpg, i dont want to explore empty worlds that doesnt respect    Finally a really good singleplayer Final Fantasy game.

    FF 16 is being review bombed just like Resident Evil 4 Remake was review bombed few months ago. To go even further back, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was also heavily review bombed by those same people who whined that "it's not FF anymore, because it's not muh turn based combat whine whine whine". These people are not real gamers, they should be banned from everywhere. Hopefully MetacriticFF 16 is being review bombed just like Resident Evil 4 Remake was review bombed few months ago. To go even further back, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was also heavily review bombed by those same people who whined that "it's not FF anymore, because it's not muh turn based combat whine whine whine".     best game I have played in ages. I had so many “wow” moments when important things happened. Cried. Literally cheered and had other outbursts from narrowly beating enemies I felt personally invested in beating. The only games to get me hooked in recent years have been Ys 8/9 and Elden Ring. This one goes in the hall of fame. It does have a slow start though and I almost gave up in thebest game I have played in ages. I had so many “wow” moments when important things happened. Cried.     Never had any issues playing this game. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones haha all jokes aside, the eions are fun, gripping story. Characters are cool skill tree excellent semi openworld wish it was more open but it felt like it had good flow. Battles are cool. Nice combo system. Overall 9.8 but it leaned to a 10 so that's what I gave it

    Coming from a final fantasy vet and a person who didn’t like final fantasy 15 as much as I wanted to like it final fantasy is a breath of fresh air. I believe they are going in the right direction with the series. Although I do hope they come out with some turn base spin offs like final fantasy worlds.

The combat was really fun, launching enemies up with Torgol, giving the enemies a boot and precision dodges. The Eikon battles blew me out of the water and were quite beautiful that i’d even take some screenshots. The world building is amazing, side-quest are really involved and provide great additional lore to the game. I laughed and cried during this rollercoaster of a game. I gave this game a ten, as I had so much fun and have never been so emotional invested in a way this game made me :)… Expand

    Final Fantasy XVI is a fantastic entry, even if is different to previous entries.

    The story is good, the characters are of course fantastic and Clive is a great protagonist, even up with Cloud IMO.

    The combat is second to none and the boss battles are crazy and are on such an epic scale that my jaw is constantly hitting the floor, and I have played GOW Ragnarok!

    Final Fantasy 16 is without a doubt one of the best games I've ever played and for sure a game that I would happily replay if it wasn't for the frustrating problems that I have with the game. As someone who only really found out about the series with Final Fantasy 15 but only got into by 7 Remake, I was genuinely excited to play this game and see what it had to offer and honestly for theFinal Fantasy 16 is without a doubt one of the best games I've ever played and for sure a game that I would happily replay if it wasn't for the frustrating problems that I have with the game. As someone who only really found out about the series with Final Fantasy 15 but only got into by 7 Remake, I was genuinely excited to play this game and see what it had to offer and honestly for the most part, it not only met my expectations, it EXCEEDED them. This game is what happens when you hire writers from Game of Thrones, combat designers of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, and someone who could create Attack on Titan and God of War set-pieces all combined to create an experience that I will never forget anytime soon. The first thing I can confidently say is that the game looks so beautiful, I couldn't believe my eyes on what I was looking at so much so that I actually didn't mind that the photo mode was pretty basic, you'll be looking in awe on just how beautiful this game is that you'll constantly want to stop for a quick second and take in the magnificent work of art the developers created. The combat is PHENOMENAL with how easy it is to get into and the spectacle you showcase on-screen is a genuine marvel to look at and it never fails to become engaging and never feels repetitive with how the combat expands further on throughout the game. I'm always a fan of Final Fantasy soundtracks and this game might just be better than even 7 Remake and 15 with how they drive the emotion and stakes so much further than they have any right too causing me to get excited for a fight or what happens next. The story and characters are absolutely extraordinary and kept me hooked onto my seat with how many stakes there were, the emotions it brings, and genuinely how relateable it is since this game never failed to make me want the best for the characters seeing what was going on in the world, the characters are nothing short of beautiful and complex and the performances given by the actors only elevate them to some of the best characters I've seen in a video game, the Active Time Lore is easily one of the most revolutionary features I've seen in a video game since it helps you keep track of the story progress and especially helpful if you don't have a lot of time to play games to give you a recap on the story so far if you haven't played in a long time. People say the side quests are awful since they're so simplistic fetch quests but that just makes me feel like they never tried them since this is only the case for 30% of the side quests, everything else is surprisingly good side quests to flesh out the side characters more. Now you may be thinking, "Didn't you hate Dead Space 3's side quests when they did the same thing?" True, but those side quests focused on a MAIN character and you can't skip them otherwise you'll have no idea why the second main character even exists whereas FF16's focuses on the side characters and the game already tells you why they're here so you only want to do their side quests because you want to learn more from these side characters. Finally, probably the game's biggest highlight: the Eikon battles. These battles are a masterclass in spectacle and it feels so immersive and cinematic watching them in action and the fact they get better as you go on just increases the replayibility, people might hate the overly generous QTE's but tbh, QTE's are kind've a thing of the past and failing them is more annoying than anything since it always felt like a cheap trick to get you to pay attention so I genuinely didn't mind the generous QTE's. Now as much as I genuinely love this game, this game does have some problems to the point where I can't call it a masterpiece. For starters, some of the main story quests feel like shoved side quests to relieve you of the insane battles but come on SE, did they really have to be this boring to the point where it breaks the pacing? I wouldn't say the performance is as bad as people say it is since during gameplay and cutscenes, it's a locked frame-rate so you aren't distracted by it but other times, you can ABSOLUTELY see the bad frame pacing and here's hoping they fix it eventually. Finally, it wasn't that hard on my first playthrough nor on my second, I get that the director wanted to make the game more accessible to more people, but at least have an option where we want to feel challenged. With all that being said, I still enjoyed my time with Final Fantasy 16 that I actually didn't mind doing another playthrough for the platinum trophy and this is a story I have no doubt will remain with me for years to come and if you can get through the pacing and frame-rate problems, you'll no doubt love this game. As it stands, Final Fantasy 16 is my GOTY and can't wait to see the franchise move forward and also, PLEASE MAKE SOME DLC FOR SOME OF THE CHARACTERS SQUARE ENIX.… Expand

    Anyone who says the game gets a 0/10 just didn't play the game. incredible cutscenes, engaging story, good character designs and fabulous gameplay. the only thing that bothers me from time to time are fps drops, but they are still tolerable because they only occur when a lot is happening.

    A game is meant to be felt, and I am feeling this game. The story it’s trying to tell me, the beautifully looking world and satisfying gameplay (that, yes, couldn’t be further away from what a Final Fantasy gameplay used to look like), the wonderfully orchestrated music, that I could listen to a hundred of times and STILL not get sick of it, still making me feel goosebumps all over my body.

    Does it deserve the perfect vote? Probably not, although in my heart yes, it does. Does it even deserve hate? No, it doesn’t. 9/10 is my vote, but just like the people who hated on it did, I’m gonna bump it up a lil, just because I’m feeling like it. That’s what anyone does anyways, right?    … Expand

When I first saw the trailer I was quite disappointed at first, the graphics didn’t scream “next gen” for me, the medieval theme is not my cup of tea and the characters were too simple and memorable.     Amazing story and fun combat. The demo had me at the edge of my seat towards the end and I could not wait to pick up. Combat seemed limited in the demo but I’m glad there are more variations and combos you can perform in the real game. Targeting system could be better though.

Side quests are split 50/50 between generic fetch quests and the like and actual interesting mini stories of survival in a pretty brutal world.     The world building and combat have been incredible! The story is gripping and the characters are compelling.

    The only negative I would say is that the exploration isn’t really here to provide a meaningful gaming experience it only serves to get from point A to B and places to hold hunts/side quests. That said the series has never had a strong exploration aspect, and I go look for that in other games where exploration is the main aspect of the experience.

    I never play once game wishing it could fulfill all aspects of gaming and no one should either. You are just setting yourself up for disappointment and will be unable to enjoy anything.    … Expand

    you can do a lot of combinations thanks to the eikon mechanics you can also equip other eikon abilities to a specific eikon, the hunt system and the exploration is great, lots of open areas to explore and of course, the story is great, amazing at it's core!

    A game that revels in the spectacle of the Eikon battles. Combat is enjoyable and flexible, rewarding those willing to figure out different combinations of powers. Combined with compelling and likable cast, and an almost legendary soundtrack and voice acting performance, this is easily one of the best Final Fantasy games.

    Story is Final Fantasy alright, at one point you feel like you know where it's going but then yeah... it was good.

    Graphics: absolutely stunning, really pushing PS5 to its limits and I'm sure could be even better once the PC release gets out.

    The soundtrack, voice acting and cinematography is some of the best in gaming to date. The music is banger throughout and is masterfully arranged and synced to fit each scene. The darker setting and more mature themes complimented the atmosphere and depth of the world without feeling forced.

    The characters had personality and seemed to have real motivations and values with quality voice acting and animation really bringing them alive

    The difficulty with the initially available options felt slightly too easy, but then you can always play for example without using potions if you want more of a challenge right away.

    Sure, many of the side quests were simple fetch/kill quests, but they also contributed to the world building and atmosphere and eventually tied together nicely with the overall plot of the game.

    There are some flaws like in any game and the genre/style isn't for everyone, but for me the highest of highs in this game were so far beyond anything I've experienced in years that I can overlook some of the flaws and the overall experience was worth 10/10.    … Expand

    My only real gripe is that they really should have just added difficulty levels instead of one base difficulty that you can scale down with accessories. They gave us an amazing combat system, but the enemies feel a little too easy. I would have liked something more hardcore; I'm hoping NG+ is the answer to that, we will see.

    So, all in all, I would give it more like an 8.5/10. It's still a good game and worth every penny. I'm not even taking the review bombers serious, they're just babies throwing a tantrum. Game is nowhere near deserving of such low reviews.    … Expand

    Great game - gets better as you play on. Feels like a better FF12. Stylistically it feels like it will age well. Hopefully they create DLC.

    Just an incredible game with Devil May Cry combat style. The history is amazing and has also some of the hardest and saddest moments I’ve ever lived in a videogame, it’s a must play if you have a PS5, or just wait for it to come to another plataform.

The story is captivating and, despite clear Game of Thrones parallels, still deviates well from G.R.R. Martin's influence towards the end of the story. The Eikon fights offer a good change within the gameplay, although the fight against Kupka was much too long. Especially the fight against the final boss was absolutely brilliantly staged.
    The side missions increase in value as the story progresses and are no longer quite as trivial as they were at the beginning. Important: Play the many side missions before the end of the game. They hide a lot of information about the lives of the individual characters, and you'll learn to love them even more.
    If you like DMC5 and Final Fantasy, you will absolutely get your money's worth and love the game. The Final Fantasy mode in NG+ massively increases the replay value.

    This game was a breath of fresh air for Final Fantasy. I think that their decision to progress to a full action rpg while divisive, was a good call. Do I wish they would do a mix? Perhaps make final fantasy games of both types over time? Yes. But all in all for this game? I think it worked well. The story beats were stellar. The characters were wonderful.     I do find it to be quite a shame so many people are throwing zero's at this game whilst a solid half of them have likely not even played it. It seems that most of the reviews that are negative tend to bash sony/claim its bad with no reason/ and many just outright exclaim in their review they haven't even played the game.

    For those reading this that are confused. I would normally give this game a 9 or 8 at the very lowest. But I do not want people scared away from this game due to a hatemob of those who have not even played it. Reviews of zero I can't even take seriously yet there are tons of them on here.

    Play the game for yourself, or at the very least try the demo before deciding. Watch a critic that you like. But don't go off of these skewed averages as they are not at all indicative of the actually quality.    … Expand

    As a huge Final Fantasy fan, with FF7 always being the best, I also think FF16 is a great game.

    Only have 20 hours into the game, but it's a good story and entertaining game mechanics.

    If there is something to complain about, it is the performance mode, which has big dips. And that it is not possible to turn off motion blur.
    It's still clearly playable, but therefore not 10/10 either.

    On a la le meilleur jeu de cette année, l’ambiance est magnifique, la DA est envoûtante, le travail est titanesque dans ce Final fantasy 16, je suis amoureux de ce jeu !

If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.     New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
