    This game is completely awesome. As a fan of FF I must say:

    History and characters are very consistent (Clive is one of the best main characters of all franchise) and been linear is a plus. Combat system is not rpg (nothing new having in mind the last games) but works really really good, the same way that in Devil May Cry series.     In a nutshell, its an incredible game that is a must if you like action/adventure games with a very good combat system. If you are looking for an intense JRPG buy another game, you have many other options available.

    The game is as expected but I miss the open world. The early side missions are pick this up here and take 10 meters to finish. Maybe leave these out next time.

    A fun new way to experience the universe of final fantasy. I highly recommend buying this game especially if you liked FF7 remake. It improves the combat from FF15 and even FF7 remake

    As a long time fan of the series, I felt like Final Fantasy was struggling to deliver for a long time now. How long? I find FFX to be the last good mainline game. Until now.

    I'm happy to say that Final Fantasy 16 puts the series back on the map. It has an amazing cast of characters, beautiful visuals, terrific music and a story that hits home. The good: 1. The characters. Just Wow.    As a long time fan of the series, I felt like Final Fantasy was struggling to deliver for a long time now. How long? I find FFX to be the last good mainline game. Until now.

    I'm happy to say that Final Fantasy 16 puts the series back on the map. It has an amazing cast of characters, beautiful visuals, terrific music and a story that hits home.

    The good:
    1. The characters. Just Wow. The main cast is amazing and lovable; Clive feels as real as it gets (despite being an overpowered "chosen one" type), Jill is an amazing strong individual that offers a lot more than being "the female lead", Cid is the daddy we all needed, Joshua's influence is felt throughout the story despite what basically takes place during the demo segment and Dion's struggle between his duty and his sense of justice really gets you thinking. The villains are written well too, making you either understand them or enjoy to hate on them, and even the secondary characters have their own story arcs (via sidequests) and are just so well fleshed out that getting lost in their own tales is a bliss.

    2. The story: perfect world building, mostly good pacing, and the ACTIVE LORE SYSTEM is just PERFECT. Did the characters mention a place or a person you're not sure about? Hit that touchpad and read all about them.

    3. Presentation is TOP NOTCH, especially during cutscenes and Eikon battles

    4. Music is amazing. Feels right at home as Final Fantasy OST.

    5. The voice acting. I cannot stress enough how good it is.

    6. Battle system is hella fun

    7. Sidequest storylines are amazing, especially the ones in the last third of the game which provide both background for events that occur and context for the MSQ. Don't miss on them!

    The not as good:
    1. The game is TOO DANG EASY. At first it's not too bad, but by the end of the game I got so overpowered from doing side content that even the S rated hunts were a breeze, let alone the final boss fight. You do have a "hard mode" once you finish it, but WHY? Let us challenge ourselves the first time around!

    2. Animations outside of cutscenes (especially facial animations) are not good, jarring even. You can do better than that, Square.

    3. Performance is bad. I played the game on performance mode and it barely ever hit 60fps, except for combat. Sorry, Square, that is unacceptable for a next-gen only game. I would've played on quality mode if it would've kept the battles at 60fps, but it unfortunately does not.

    4. When doing side quests, party members are completely ignored. Would've added much to the immersion if they actually spoke.

    5. The map could've been bigger

    6. While side quest stories are good, most of them are basic fetch quests. Could've enjoyed some innovation.

    Bottom line, square is on a stride. First FF7R was a blast, now this. Can't wait for Rebirth, and maybe even a story DLC for 16 ;)    … Expand

    Wonderful game, the story and "vibe" is as Final fantasy as you can get.

    Yoshi-P was very clear from the start that it was an action RPG, he delivered in spades.

    Final Fantasy XVI represents everything I look for in a game, and more specifically in a Final Fantasy.
    The story is fascinating and so well written!
    The staging is epic and each character, from the most important to the most secondary, brings something and makes an impression. No doubt, Final Fantasy XVI is one of the best games I've played and goes straight into the best Final Fantasy.    Final Fantasy XVI represents everything I look for in a game, and more specifically in a Final Fantasy.

    The game was solid, but lacked in certain areas in regards to being an RPG. The biggest issues were the negligible elemental weaknesses/resistances and how utterly boring the gear system was. Weapons were literally just stat gains when they had so many knobs to turn to make them all have unique and interesting effects instead of "does this have bigger numbers than my current weapon?"

    Side    The game was solid, but lacked in certain areas in regards to being an RPG.     Side quest quality varied and it felt like a lot of padding. I'd rather have less quests and have them be more meaningful than have a ton of quests that literally don't do anything but increase my playtime with the game arbitrarily. Another HUGE problem was them locking the hard difficulty behind beating the game. The game is mind-numbingly easy and I don't understand why Square is so fond of this archaic practice. Players have different skill levels and it's just as important to satisfy the needs of your higher-skill players as it is your lower. They gave story mode and all these timely accessories for the inept, but competent players have to suffer through a boring experience before they can even feel a hint of challenge and even then, it's forced into a new game + scenario where you already have God-like abilities for the duration of the run. Square, stop it. Just make hard mode available for those who want to partake in the beginning. Your games are too easy.

    The combat system is fun, but lacks depth due to the lack of weaknesses, resistances, status ailments, etc that make Arpgs fun and interesting to play. The only reason to switch up your load out is to try something new. There's no strategic benefit to changing up your abilities.

    The story started out very strong, but ended with cliche "power of humanity/friendship vs jaded nihilism" tropes and was very disappointing. There were so many epic moments throughout, but the end made the journey feel pointless and left a lot to be desired. They were so close to greatness on this one... But that makes the game's flaws all the more frustrating.    … Expand

    I really love this work, and my English proficiency is sufficient for me to be comfortable with English subtitles and dubbing. So I can deeply feel the emotions conveyed in the dialogue. However, when I switch to Chinese subtitles and Japanese dubbing, I can clearly sense the youthfulness of the actors and the dialogue, which makes the mature characters appear more youthful. In comparison, I believe the English dubbing is more suitable for this work. The performance of this work is top-notch in terms of visuals. Although it may be clichéd and boring in terms of battles and script, I cannot expect perfection in all aspects of a game. The game captivated me with its dazzling special effects and grandiose music. Its performance reached the summit in the industry. The characters are very cute, and Jill is incredibly beautiful. I really want her to be my wife.

    What’s not to like about the newest and latest entry to the Final Fantasy franchise?. The combat is amazing, from the start it is a little learning curve. However later in the game and receiving new abilities, it is too fun to learn different combinations. The story is intriguing and the cinematic’s are stunning. The different weapons you can craft and armor are cool. Plus the best featureWhat’s not to like about the newest and latest entry to the Final Fantasy franchise?.     As a Final Fantasy player since the Playstation 1. This game is amazing. Each Final Fantasy tells a unique story and characters. This Final Fantasy brought back the classic, but with modern gameplay mechanics. Thank you SqureEnix for another great Final Fantasy game.

My expectations were already high, but this game has exceeded all of them in the best of ways.     I've played almost every main final fantasy game. 1-16. Only one I've missed was 11. And not only as a huge final fantasy fan but as a huge gamer as well I've got to say this is an epic game. The eikon battles are truly a thing of beauty!.

    It brings the magic back to final fantasy. Combat is amazing and so is the story. Love the character development and the progression though the big zones. This final fantasy feels darker than others with the tone of the story and the gravity of the situation. Enjoy this masterpiece.

    ff16 is an amazing game but It feels some RPG elements could have been better.
    Fidelity mode is the best way to experience the game especially if you are using a big screen or 4k monitor but I expect there will be patches to improve performance, a locked 45fps would be way better.

The graphics are phenomenal, handled by the superior PS5 chipset and the voice acting is unparalleled, handled by Square Enix's talent acquisition. Set in a medieval Europe-esque type of setting, you follow the protagonist, Clive, on a heart breaking and soul wrenching path of pain, survival, revenge and destiny. Kudos to the SquareBy far one the most fluid final fantasy games to date. The graphics are phenomenal, handled by the superior PS5 chipset and the voice acting is unparalleled, handled by Square Enix's talent acquisition. Set in a medieval Europe-esque type of setting, you follow the protagonist, Clive, on a heart breaking and soul wrenching path of pain, survival, revenge and destiny. Kudos to the Square Enix team, they have made a masterpiece.



    Oh, also, to the people reading this.... the majority of people giving this game a 0/10 are only doing so because it's a Playstation 5 exclusive as of this time.     Unbelievable combat, extremely well crafted and satisfying. I have completed the game and was left with an itch for a harder challenge, that is where I came across Ultimaniac mode in New Game+. The difficulty blew me away, you are forced into learning the combat's full potential and using all of Clive's tools as perfectly as possible. It is similar to DMC's style meter. I cannot ask for aUnbelievable combat, extremely well crafted and satisfying. I have completed the game and was left with an itch for a harder challenge, that is where I came across Ultimaniac mode in New Game+. The difficulty blew me away, you are forced into learning the combat's full potential and using all of Clive's tools as perfectly as possible. It is similar to DMC's style meter. I cannot ask for a better action combat for Final Fantasy than this. The combat even stands as high as some of the best action game's ever made, DMC, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, Sekiro, Kingdom Hearts etc.… Expand

    The game really is a solid 9/10; outside of a few issues I have with the camera and the itemization, it’s an incredibly satisfying experience. It’s a 10/10 mostly just to keep the 0/10 simps at bay.

The story and setting remind me of FFIV, with its medieval setting, tale of the crystal themes, warring kingdoms, dark knights, dragoons, etc. with Game of Thrones-esque tone and presentation.     Amazing game, combat is amazing, and cinematics keep your heart racing the whole time. The side quests aren't amazing but besides that the game is near perfect I'd even suffice to say it could be called one of the best video games square enix has made to date.

    My first game review on Meta, and speaking for myself, it's somewhat of a step back for the series, though it is still a good to near great game. Combat is the best it's ever been, even though it still could've been better.     Square Enix proves one again they have the magic to make an amazing gaming experience like no other developer. This is an epic adventure that will have you on a roller coaster of emotions and fun battle system that makes you question if you ever really liked turned-based games. My only complain is that the performance mode was not ready to launch, hope they do something about it in future updates.

    It is different from older FFs, yes; it is not perfect, yes. But just like Tears of the Kingdom, it is super fun to play. Whoever gave 0 review is either an idiot, or simply doesn't possess a PS5, or XBOX/PC simp. You can't expect any more from this if you have just played it for a while.

The boss fights are unspeakably epic, truly. They are so epic, I can't help but laugh and cheer. The eikon vs. eikon battles are magnificent.     Seu combate é um diamante, depois da frustração que foi o XV, Ryota Suzuki entra na equipe do XVI e ali desenvolve sua obra prima. Tudo funciona muito bem, os combos, skills, as diversas ramificações de combos/habilidades é perfeita. A dificuldade é balanceada na sua primeira jogatina, entretanto, não subestime seus inimigos pois seus erros não serão perdoados, principalmente quando o inimigo for um sub-boss ou um boss.

    Seguindo para a trilha sonora, Soken é genial, o "substituto" perfeito do grande Uematsu criou canções inimaginavelmente lindas e emocionantes, é praticamente impossível você não "bater cabeça" nas linhas mais pesadas e complexas de guitarra e cordas ou simples lacrimejar igual uma criança nas belas e emocionantes linhas "simples" de violão e piano. Todas ost´s trabalham junto das incríveis atuações, cenários, personagem e batalhas(principalmente na batalha contra o Bah****).

    Seguindo para o final, quero destacar em como todo o mundo funciona de forma linda e suave e parece realmente ser algo real, algo que na nossa realidade poderia ter existido, há tempos que não sentia isso em um jogo, Takai, Yoship, Koji-fox e equipe conseguiram o que pra mim parecia ser o mais dificil.

    Esse titulo novo só não leva um 10/10 pra mim devido a um pecado.

    As missões secundarias, apesar de cada uma conter uma historia por trás e muita das vezes grandes historias por trás, elas acabam pecando em algo essencial em qualquer tipo de atividade dentro de um jogo, a diversão. Raríssimas foram as Missões secundarias a qual eu me diverti, mesmo tendo as hunts (incríveis por sinal) para compensar.

    So for any game a 10/10 it doesn't mean it's perfect. This game is an actual rollercoaster, you have some incredible highs that then decend to some low to start going back up. Hunts are awesome, and the design of finding them could have been used for the actual sidequest imo. Story is amazing probably the best in the series, not for the "seriousness" but for its actual telling of the story, it lets things breathe and set in. Active Time Lore is amazing and it needs to be present in more games that present such a major scope of concepts and characters, so useful. Combat is incredible, however action character games can be as fun as you want them to be. Just like in Devil May Cry games you can beat them by just spamming "Stinger", such as you can beat this game by just button mashing. However, you can make tham as fun as you want them to be, you can stay in the air an perform the sickest of combos and never touch the ground, or you can be a parry/counter machine, you can be an allrounder of mixing both. It al depends on you. And im not even getting on the Eikon vs Eikon battles that demands to be seen on your own. Soken is a beast, Major orchestrial arrangements to some industrial 90's rock songs and some techno here and there, incredible truly the master of music genre. In the end as any game ever created it has flaws but it has the things there to make them be shove to the background. 10/10 and i hope they keep taking risks and doing something different in future installments.… Expand

    The combat system is really good and with a lot of dephth. It's low skill floor high skill cieling and exremely clean. For the normal difficulty you can get away with mashing buttons but if you are into Soulslike games the system is clean and super fun so you can try to do the fights without using potions or try for a no hit run. It rewards learning the boss pattrerns and executing clean dodges and long combos.

    The boss battles are pure hype. The music, the visuals... I would say this game is a must play just for those battles.

    The story and characters are amazing. The sidequests are not a filler, they are amazing but slow paced. If you want to rush into the ending you will hate them but if you relax and take your time they are very well written and rewarding. You really get to care for the characters and the world.

    - What could be improved:

    The gameplay of the sidequests. As I said above the story of the sidequests is really good and I think it's a shame that because of the boring sidequest gameplay some people will not be able to enjoy them.

    Without spoilers there are 2 characters and the part they play in the story that I feel were on a lower level than the rest of the game, still good but not amazing.

    And finally the boss variety. Leaning the moves of each of the enemies was very fun, and I don't mind repeating them, in fact I enjoy it since I can put to test what I learned from the last encounter. Still I wish thet had added more fights with more types of enemies.

    - What I don't care:

    I don't care it's not a real open world. I feel this game has decided to put the action and the combat first and I am grateful they haven't put an empty open world just for the sake of it.

    I don't care you can't control a party. I have played all the mainline FF games and when first it was announced that you will be only controling a character I was sad. But the change has not been a problem for me and I was able to enjoy the game. There is still the Dragon Quest saga going on for a more traditional jRPG, I'm fine with FF innovating more since it's what the saga has always done.

    - Why did I review it as a 10?

    Because honeslty the things it does good are soo really good that for me they are an 11, what could be improved is still not bad so those are a 9.    … Expand

This was the game that broke down boundaries for gamers the expectations they revealed even broken through them raised the bar higher than any other game has in so long been waiting for experience like this again. and for the first time really showed what a game can represent to people absolutely loved every minute of this game.

    Final Fantasy XVI is the best video game that I have played in my lifetime. This "semi open world" game was ahead of its time. The story telling of this is second to none, and this game has so many memorable soundtracks. Combine that with the boss battles Eikon battles and areas you visit this is my perfect 10/10 game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 本当に面白かった、エンディングは泣いてしまいました。ゲームで泣くなんて数年ぶりです、主人公も仲間もすごく良いキャラクターで感情が高ぶります。シド、ガブ、ジル、ジョシュア、ミド、そしてクライブ、全員を好きになることは間違いないでしょう。
    戦闘も自分にあったアビリティ構成を考えるのが楽しい、何より召喚獣同士の戦いは盛り上がります、特にタイタンとバハムート。
    音楽に関しては素晴らしいの一言。
    サブクエは退屈なものも多いですが世界のことやキャラクターの深掘りがされていて物語により入り込めるようになっています。
    不満点としては育成要素がもっと欲しかった、パーティメンバーをもう少しいじでればよかったと思います。そして物語の後半は少し盛り下がった、最後の戦いはすごく熱かったですけどね。

    結果、こんなに時間が掛かってました。

    ストーリー進行でNPCの会話が、丁寧に変化してあって世界が生きているのを感じました。
    初期に上がってるレビューとかを見ると、サブクエが楽しくないって意見が散見されます。
    きっと、サブクエって形式な時点で、切って捨ててる人が多いんだろうな思います。
    サブクエの中に、この世界を好きになっちゃう濃い内容が、散りばめられてるんですけどね。

    クライブがどんなどんな人達と出会い、どんな思いを共有していたのか、、、
    サブクエを通して知っているか、知らないのかでラストのパンチの演出の印象も

    nd its the perfect time to make a more hyper fantasy FF game with a solo character. Considering FF7R will have the fantasy and scifi mix with party play for quite some time to come. So im glad 16 is taking this approach.

    Final fantasy 16 is Ryota Suzuki's magnum opus and shows how good ps5 games can look and feel. The combat is 100% top 3 of all time while the characters are charming and bring heavy emotion to this game and its story. although side quests aren't shown to their true and full potential, they can still offer a great time. Overall, I very much enjoyed my time with ff16 and is my personal GOTY.

    WOW, this game is in a class of its own. The graphics are so realistic at moments that in quick moments it resembles real life. The characters are well written and the story keeps things very interesting. Just when you think you’re about to get bored you’re thrown into the next epic adventure happy you didn’t put the controller down. Amazing, purely amazing. Oh and for those that tried to petition to ban the game that was made in Japan yet features all white people. You’re missing out, and quite frankly we don’t want you playing it, you’re the real bigots, crying at every corner well aha I wish more developers would stop with the b.s. oh we need this or that or every game has to be female led with minority groups in it. No, sorry it doesn’t, do I care no will I play those games yes. However the theme square enix chose was perfect for their game.     Its a great one! Final fantasy at its core is about breaking a cycle within the world that youre playing in. In final fantasy 16s case, its about breaking the cycle of the mother crystals. As a final fantasy fan for 20 years I believe every single final fantasy game is a final fantasy game at its core. The combat has been continuously changing since final fantasy 11 came out in 2002, so inIts a great one! Final fantasy at its core is about breaking a cycle within the world that youre playing in. In final fantasy 16s case, its about breaking the cycle of the mother crystals. As a final fantasy fan for 20 years I believe every single final fantasy game is a final fantasy game at its core. The combat has been continuously changing since final fantasy 11 came out in 2002, so in my own opinion complaining about a change in combat is old news, and the people who are complaining need to go to a retirement home because its as if they forget that the combat changes in each and every single entry. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.     New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
