This is sad. My first Far Cry was 3 and I loved it. 4 was OK, 5 looked beautiful and I liked the villains, but it started to get a bit repetitive. However, Far Cry 6 is just horrible. So every base capture feels very unrewarding. I like to reccy the base, tag the enemies watch their movements and pick them off one by one. All but one of my base captures have ended up just being spray gunfire, reload, spray gunfire reload, run around a bit spray gunfire. It's mind numbing!
I can't think of a single character I like. Juan is tolerable, but Clara was annoying at first but now she's just giving mission and info she's tolerable. But I just met Jonron and she's obnoxious. I tried to kill her but impossible, I would have happily forfeited missions just to avoid that character.
The main villain has no charisma, compared to previous villains, there's just nothing. so unlikable are the heroes I hope there's an option to let him continue dictating.
God I miss characters like Wills Huntley, Amita, Crazy Citra, and where's Hurk?
Jesus, it's like a 14 year old was asked what do rebels look and act like...'errr well I guess they have tats and piercings and say 'f**k you' a lot' The Poochie revolution is upon us!
This is the last Far Cry I purchase. I think the developers either despise their customers or just can't be bothered.
Edit: The music was annoying, found myself searching for the radios multiple times to turn them off, going to just shoot them from now on.
Also, Spanish is not a language I speak. English first language, but can get by in German, Dutch and Korean, so why so much Spanish in this game? I don't know what a Miho is? I understand that Spanish is widely spoken in North America, but here in Europe it's not outside of Spaiin.

I've recently been playing through Far Cry 4 and am actually quite impressed at how unique/intruging the story/progression and difficulty is comparitively to Far Cry 6...it's actually kinda sad that Far Cry 4 is more innovative and fun comparitively to 6.

The biggest issue with Far Cry 6 is not understanding why revolutions need to happen, and grappling with the real consequenses of fascist dictators and how these affect a country. It's strange because Far Cry 4 understands this much better and asks something much more politically intriguing and morally complicated. The humour/ half-assed social justice messeging don't necessarily translate well, or serve any purpose within this Cuban/fantasy setting. The humour genuinely down-plays the genuinely horrific reality that pushes people to a revolution/becoing a revolutinary. You don't choose to play the path/role of a revolutinary, revolutinaries are forced into unbeatable odds that make firm decisions to make a change. It's actually somewhat offensive tbh. If they stuck to a more grounded/serious tone, actually had a progression tree. had proper character devlopments this game could have been sensational.

I would recommend picking this up for like 15 dollars once heavily discounted, but otherwise do not pay for this...it's not bad, it's just somewhat mediocre and is offensively innovative

Farcry has taken a very unfortunate turn. Tons of missing features from previous games, and wonky RPG combat left me just plain bored after a couple hours.

If you updated Farcry 3's graphics, and compared the two games side by side, 3 would look like the newer game in the series. Seeing where this series is going, I won't fool myself by being excited for the next one.

In a guerrilla military manly setting the females take charge in every form and it feels like ubi soft is overcompensating.

Sadly most NPC characters are very unlikable and at times i was rooting for the enemy. The gameplay is what you expect and it can be fun at times.

I wish the story was better, characters where better and the gane didnt feel like a gameplay copy fron far cry 3,4,5 and dlcs

Furthermore, I think playing this game coop hides its solo playing boredom. You start realizing that missions are madly repetitive when you play solo.

The game doesn’t look too bad indeed, but the world of Yara doesn’t feel alive. I feel like in a clone of Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Enemies everywhere, Yarans citizens are virtually non-existent, cars are driven unrealistically (it’s an actual joke how driving AI is). I also don’t get this weapon leveling system. What the hell are those 4 stars? What do they mean? And I haaaaate the fact that you need to storm an enemy with 5000 rounds to kill one. I’d have loved it so much more if it was more realistic, if enemies are downed with one sniper rifle bullet for example. Now it’s just another clone of any boring videogame, with 1000 ultra-armored guys and other bullet-sponges.

Lastly, I must say this scenario is really weird. It’s not credible, it would not make any sense in real life, we don’t feel for the characters at all, and most of the missions are boring scenaristically speaking as well. It’s just not engaging for me. It doesn’t do it.

It’s a shame because this game had potential. If sufficiently polished on all mentioned aspects and if fitted with an actual nice story, its map would have provided it with a very nice playground.

No innovation and no creativity at all. Just copy and paste. The story itself is lackluster and if you pay enough attention you can see the "woke" agenda pushed in this game in almost every corner. It didn't bother me much though personally since I had zero interest in any characters in this game besides the main villain and his son. If you want a mediocre brainless shooter with a good cast for the main villain (yet not a great script) then yeah you can buy this game on sale. If you want a quality AAA game please don't buy this. (Giving the game 2 points for castillio (which is in itself generous) and 2 points for gameplay mechanics (although they can be fun it ultimately feels like a carbon copy of the previous games) Expand

This slows down gameplay massively. Another example is when you call for your ride to come you have to wait for it to slowly arrive and then listen to the npc say some irrelevant catchphrase and then wait for him to get out of the car. This really takes the momentum out of the game and I never used this feature because of that. That is just a couple examples but it’s al all round let down. The graphics were also poor for next gen. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I preordered FC, pd $60, & avoided spoilers because I love FC series. I replay my FC games. I played FC6 & was close to 100% on trophies. I waited a few months to get my rage 0 score out of my system. The island beauty was a 10! I liked Treasure Hunts, fishing, & the outfits for skills. I'm a female, but I didn't like being forced to play as female for a trophy. Game play left me empty! First island fun, Guapo good but I quickly realized 80% on my machete kills was to the back of a female! Seemed geared to Ted Bundy! After initial island it went down hill. First, weapons didn't work or the upgrades. The respawn was insane especially with weapons which didnt kill. The missions so bad & embarassing, I was saying please god let this be the last one. The amigos so messed up! Croc, puma okay but a crippled dog, boomer from FC5 instead of Tinder from FCND but lastly the rooster was just so bad, I kept for the stupid trophies. My surprise was why would two great actors agree to be put in this mess. I wanted to join the dictator! I thought this would be like it other FC, it wasnt! I thought it was based on Cuba human right nightmares, it wasn't! It was a hit to US on racial & LGBTQ unfairness, but promoted in gameplay Trans couple verbally assaulting each other. If they wanted to create an entire game promoting this group, then the setting should be in one of the many countries where it is illegal & being different can end in death. Excessive women used & killed was another problem. I disliked all characters except the dictator & his kid. Plus, is it really Far Cry without Hulk? I wont preorder again, I will look for spoilers & this Far Cry 6 will get dusty. Will play FC 5 to scratch my itch! I'm sad! Expand

This doesn't really seam like a far cry game as the main element of stealth take downs and prowling a camp doesn't really exist. Its more of a just grab a gun and shoot people from mid range. No point in sniping either. Bows, don't bother.

Also, most of the map seems really empty. 1/2 of the "trespassing" zones are empty and have no purpose. The mobs are just copy and pastes of each other. Even though the map is pretty empty. the number of times I ran into Captain Cortez across the map had to be in the 100s.

The story was ok but was a bit childish I guess you could call it. As a person in his 40s I felt the story was definitely not a serious one (even though it was supposed to be dealing with a very serious subject). The most believable character in the entire game was Anton Castillo sadly. People who were actually being oppressed by a sadistic megalomaniac would not act like spoiled children 95% of the time. The dialog is pretty cringe and the things important to these character is laughable.

The last 2 entries in this serious have both been on the downward decline side. I hope this is not what is in store for the serious. This has always been my one of my favorite franchises.

Compared with the rabid narcissism of Min; the anarchistic brutality of Vaas and the unnerving psychoticism of Seed; the script keeps Anton at arms length from the player. His lieutenants are equally one dimensional and while the same could be said about the Seeds, FC5 presented them in an interesting manner and gave insight as to why they were as they were. The best I can say about the lieutenants of Anton are that they are a**holes and not much more. I am through a third of the game and there is no personal connection to Anton with the main character and no personal stakes involved beyond 'Anton bad - kill everything red'. Far Cry 3 - 5 conveyed everything through the eyes of the player character, forcing the developers to add a personal element to everything they saw and did. Sometimes it got contrived (how many times did the deputy get kidnapped in 5, for example) but threats and danger felt real. 6 does everything through third person cutscenes which is jarring from previous titles and feels cheap as Dani is undeveloped as a character. Any ethical dilemmas surrounding the production and sale of 'Viviro', a miracle wonder drug that can cure cancer, is completely side stepped, as is also why a regime with seemingly endless resources has to resort to unprotected slave labour in its lethal production (notes in the game say that slave labour is necessary to keep production going rather than just a useful means of removing dissidents).

Gameplay wise much of the map feels empty and pointless. Esperanza, the largest city in a Far Cry game, seems empty and destitute of life. There are entire 'off limits' areas in the main campaign with no guards or missions involved, making you feel like you have gone somewhere the game did not expect you to go or that it was broken. There also appears to be a lot less wildlife than previously. Hunting certain game seems resigned to set areas and as a result the crazy randomness of previous Far Cry games seems lost. The game so far is also incredibly easy, even on 'gamer mode' to the point where I have gone in guns blazing, just to have a sense of challenge. The game is set up for co-op play (and encourages it), however I fail to see what joy it would bring as the missions are blazingly easy and straightforward. Resource gathering for settlement improvements was fun at first but this is quickly becoming a chore and acts as a brake on the pace of the game as you ferret out every piece of metal and rubbish. Money is difficult to come by however if you sniff out every cache as you go, you will quickly receive most of the weapons that are available in stores. So in-game currency is split into resources (weapon modifications and settlement upgrades - desirable) and pesos (buying weapons - unnecessary). There are now two systems where one would have worked just fine. On a positive note the variety of weapons and modifications have been expanded on and there is a wide variety of customization with not just the look of your weapons but their feel and abilities. The most critical modification for any weapon is whether you have soft-tipped rounds or armour-piercing rounds. Weapons with soft-tipped rounds are useless against armoured enemies and as a result you MUST have at least one weapon with AP rounds 'attached', forcing you into a certain playstyle. The inventory menu is also a mess.

I am a third through the game and looking further into the main story, I do not see anything really enticing me to play the rest of the game. Nothing develops with Anton's son, or Viviro or Anton himself and so I have to wonder why these elements were even included in the first place besides just feeling like placeholders for a setting where you shoot people. Far Cry 6 feels like a regression from previous titles in terms of environment, writing and action.

It’s incredible how much of a downgrade this is to Farcry 5. Storyline, graphics, scenery, game play - everything has regressed massively. It’s almost like they’ve purposely removed the great bits like hunting and capturing places, why??? I love this franchise but difficult to see where they can go after this.

You let someone get away with human trafficking right in front of you, for crying out loud. The writing is horrendous with numerous logical gaps and inconsistent actions by the player character (one area we're completely fine with killing everyone in our path, and in another suddenly we want to spare people). The gunplay is great and the world is beautiful and feels lived in, but it is so horribly glitchy. The sheer number of times I died because the game refused to open my parachute is insane. I can't count how many times I should have been able to climb up a wall or even out of the water, and the game refused to let me. It also feels random when you take fall damage. A fall that should do no damage at all will more often than not kill you.

Even though this game fixed the bad system from 5 where it forced you to progress the main story, they overall made the game so much worse.

Story was never been a best part of the Far Cry series but this game really takes the cake. It feels like it was made with two different teams making two types of TV series and then forcing them together. One team was making a teen show for CW filled with annoying stereotypes and cast that belongs more on twitter and would not be seen in a small village, or farm. And then a serious drama with a amazing performance from the villain and his son. Which was the best part of the entire game and made me feel I should fight for his side instead.

Game play; was just okay and a great let down in a lot of areas. Vehicles controls felt off and clunky for anything you drive. Horses were just a novelty that I used only once because it was forced. The rest felt like other far cry games but a lot taken out.

World: Some parts were pretty and interesting like the towns and some of exploration but the world did not feel that large. Most of it's water and I felt like huge rebel camps were right on top of the regimes camps. The city was a big let down. Most of it is sectioned off and unexploreble, even after the game is over and you can't fly over it.

This is going be the last game far cry six series I play. To the developers, stop trying force unlikable and annoying teens as characters in games ( even though they much older then teens). Also, okay boomer jokes were annoying and does not match the locale. It may be hard to believe but the rest of the world is not made up of teens who never matured and actual respects elders. Specifically in the Caribbean where I am originally from.

I can't even push myself to launch it and complete the main story. I'd rather replay something else.

I can write a detailed review, but I will not. This game already robbed me of my time and money, so I won't spend more time, writing what's bad about this game. A better questions is what's good? Nothing.

The gear system is very restrictive as it now links abilities to certain clothing items, for example to stealth kill an enemy and follow up by pulling the pin on their grenade before kicking them towards others is now locked into a pair of gloves where as in previous Far cry titles this perk was unlocked permanently once you earned it. Switching out your gloves for another pair you will then lose the ability to carry this out and this goes across all of the abilities that could just be used as normal in previous games which really restricts what you can do at one time, like drawing the enemies sidearm after a stealth execution to immediately take out another nearby enemy, in the previous games you can decide to either pull the grande pin or draw the side arm in then moment but now it depends on what gloves you’re wearing.

This limitation applies to all aspects of abilities from previous games like reload speeds, running speeds, defence against fire, airborn takedowns, chain stealth executions and so much more.

Ammo types as well, this also greatly restricts your ability to take out certain enemy types. If you’re using armour piercing ammo against enemies not wearing armour they will take 20+ bullets just to take them out which just ruins the flow of combat.

These issues are arising across all of ubisofts games as they seem to be trying to turn all of their franchises into open world RPG’s, however these games just do not suit the RPG game design and it takes away what made these franchises great to begin with.

Grinding for loot, XP and fighting over levelled damage sponge enemies is not what made Ubisofts titles so special and now it has ruined them in my honest opinion. This goes for Assassins Creed, Watch Dogs, Ghost Recon and Far Cry. They all follow the same RPG open world design now and it just sucks.

Please for the love of god just give us an authentic FarCry experience without loot grinding, awfully baked in RPG mechanics and bloated open world activities. Basically, just give us a modernised FarCry 2 or 3.

Far Cry 3 captivated people not really because of the gameplay, but because of how well written it was, with a bunch of stupid but likeable characters, a wild and recognizable (secondary) villain that shows some depth and an exciting storyline. I mean - when you ask people to name something they liked about Far Cry 3... they're going to say "Vaas", right? They're not gonna tell you that they love the collectibles. Or the crafting system.

But with each entry in the series, they moved further and further away from what made Far Cry great while at the same time expanding the scope of the game. The maps get bigger, they get "more to do" while everything else falls by the wayside.

I have played about half of the main story and the only story development I got so far was "we need more people for the revolution because look how horrible this Castillo guy is!" None of the characters are interesting or likeable, they're shallow caricatures, empty shells filled with stereotypes from comic books and movies. And if that wasn't enough, even the main character has the charisma of stale bread.

Even when moving on to the gameplay, it's somehow... worse? Nothing I did in the game felt fun or rewarding. The activities on the map are uninspired and samey. Go here, destroy a billboard and kill all soldiers. Go there, destroy an AA gun and kill all soldiers. And so on and so forth. It very much reminded me of the NCPD scanner events from Cyberpunk 2077 - at least the combat in that game is actually fun.

And that's about it. When you purchase Far Cry 6, you get an ocean of lukewarm and shallow activites with a story and characters that might as well just not be there. I honestly do not understand how anyone can like or enjoy these games anymore.

Ubisoft is a shadow of its former self, focusing on easily monetizable content that can be churned out every two years or so using gigantic development teams. With that kind of structure in place (as a whole at Ubisoft), there's no way the devs can put the deserved creative energy, love and care into their projects. They just have to grind away to make everything bigger, to keep people playing for a whole two years until the next entry in the series drops.

    I'm done with Far Cry.

2/10 because the game looks nice and runs pretty well on PC. It's a "working product", just not a good one.

The game is literally a shiny turd. Looks amazing at times but, the gameplay, AI, mechanics and all the things that make a game are just so bad. Typical Ubisoft game. If you’ve played far cry 3 then you’ve played this. Big miss. Only redeeming factor is Giancarlo.

Far Cry 3… I mean 6, is just a reskin of all the past Far Cry games. Repetitive gameplay and horrible screen tearing. I’ve never had any screen tearing with any other games on my PS5. Graphics are not next-gen either. Good for passing the time but that’s it.

One of the worst games I've played this year. Oversaturated and under developed. What a POS game. I think i am done with Ubisoft in whatever game they put out. They are lazy, living off the popularity of their decade old IP´swhich is fading out by now. And without inventing anything new, they just rehash and remap the last game with a new boring story and the same crap over and over and over again.

    Does that sound familiar?
I bet there is a mission or two in there where you are on a LSD trip tripping balls into some unnecessary lifeless mission with vivid colours around you. I dunno, i did not play long enough to find out.
To put it bluntly: The Far Cry franchise is SO outdated by now i want to puke
It lacks too much to be a complete game, it lacks game mechanics, it lacks variation, it lacks substance.

You run out of ammo all the time. And you feel like you are are reloading more than you are shooting.
    crappy last gen. graphics.
Usual rubbish voice acting as usual.
    Boring story, boring characters.
Driving mechanics is the WORST i have EVER encountered. A nightmare in this game. And you thought driving in Just Cause 4 was bad?
AI is dumb.. no.. they are BEYOND stupid. Retarded even.
Giancarlo Esposito is completely wasted in this story. He is a good protagonist but what is the use when he has so little screen time.

Obviously (feels like) a rush job, but this is Ubisoft 2022. People have to understand that they are not bothering doing anything fresh anumore.
Far Cry 5 was decent, i liked the setting and gamplay, but this is just an abysmal donkey turd of game.

the story doesn't pull you in it's boring and you just don't care about anything that's going on, even Far Cry 5 had more pull than Far Cry 6, in Far Cry 5 i felt immersed into the story even though the main protagonist wasn't voiced.

But the last games were entertaining enough that I hardly ever cared about the graphic. Only to start playing this and have a mess of issues from the get go. This game doesn’t manual save, apparently that wasn’t an important enough feature to include. So you’re entirely relying on auto save, which I wouldn’t mind because in past games it was pretty reliable and you were always near the right area. However in this one it does it so rarely that I just travelled across the entire map, the largest map for a far cry game, only to die and be sent straight back to the last camp I was at which was on the other side. And this happens so often when travelling that I just want to play Far Cry 5 because I was so much less annoyed at that game. On top of this you can upgrade your camp to unlock abilities and weapons, as I’ve played the previous game the first thing I unlocked was the section that gave you the wing suit since it’s the easiest and quickest way to get to some areas. Only to find out there’s a bug where you unlock the section but it doesn’t give you the wingsuit, and because it only auto saves I can’t go back to a previous save to try again Combine this with the game being a FPS, only to make you watch third person cutscenes, and make the game third person when you’re in a camp is extremely annoying and makes me think no one actually paid attention to what went well on the previous games. I’m not significantly far in the game as I’ve been getting companions, which are only animals this time meaning if you travel and die they can’t revive you because they’re not near you, also making it a quiet experience sometimes with no sharky and hurks around. I have done a lot of side missions mainly because the fast travel places are so far away from missions unless you capture the checkpoints, and if you don’t you restart miles away from where you were. There’s enjoyable parts when the game actual works but it really isn’t worth the amount of bugs or just lack of thought the people who made the game have. And on top of this I don’t care that much about the villains, which in the previous games were so good I didn’t mind about the flaws because the enemies were done so well and you wanted to see them all the time and fight them and they were what made the game. Also combine this with the characters flipping between Spanish and English three times a sentence, which my Spanish speaking friend is extremely annoyed about since that’s not bilingual people talk. 1 Step Forward 5 Steps Back

The fact that you can blend in and NPC are no longer gods that know every person on the planet is great, however they got rid of MANY MANY previously useful and enjoyable features.

We can no longer pick up weapons, so if you are in an area with no fast travel and have the wrong loadout you're completely screwed.

We can no longer hire NPCs so gunner vehicle positions are mostly useless

They got rid of the day night cycle, which means not only can't you play in your preferred time, but you also have to wait for certain missions to be available.

They added respawning enemies that makes certain areas tedious as you can't plan anything out since enemies will just respawn behind you. I'm all for respawning enemies, but at a reasonable pace, let the next day night cycle begin or something.

And we can only acquire certain money and (to a lesser degree) items through one of the most atrocious modes in the game, Special Operations, which is ridiculously difficult even at the beginning levels. It's like the developers don't have any common sense when they made this game mode.

This mode is made much worse by the fact that you could have overcome the difficulty by being able to be patient and being able to pace and plan your route...

BUT these idiots added a timer by means of a bomb that needs water, which means you HAVE TO RUSH! There's no way to plan out anything and you often end up having to run straight into a group of enemies to try and stop the bomb from detonating and ending the game.

The difficulty could have been fixed simply in at least three different ways... 1. make the bomb timer much slower. 2. add many more water sources... as it is now the bomb is always about to explode by time you get to the next water source. OR 3. not have every water source be littered with enemies... meaning not only are you running into a group of enemies, but you can't even fucus on them because you must focus on the bomb, leaving the enemies to kill you while you're trying to stop the bomb from exploding. Not only is that frustrating, it's a situation that completely forces you to abandons stealth which a lot of players enjoy.

Just an awful awful game mode and a pretty disappointing game in general

and perhaps they thought that further into the game with different weapons may make the Special Operations mode easier (which may not be the case anyway), but regardless, we shouldn't have to wait to play a built-in mode of the game, if it's available it should be playable correctly.

So this is going to be more about how much I hate the changes they made and less about Ubisoft but lets get started. For starters the aiming down the sights doesn't feel right in this game. There is so much emphasis on looking at your cool gun that it now envelopes a larger part of the screen as it's centered much higher. I don't like this because it inhibits my ability to see a larger view while moving. I've even missed wild animals in the game for multiple hits because I couldn't see them. The next is the enemies. I have had enemies take 4-5 rounds to the head. WHAT?! That's actually not how it works, armor or not. You take five big rounds to the head you have been dead. WHAT?! The next is the way the game plays. It has not been optimized at all! They didn't put it on Steam and then gave a big **** you when you realized that the game is bugged and has multiple performance issues. By the way, if you even downloaded it they won't let you return it. I got the runaround for about 10 minutes of trying to return the game.

The area is boring and not exciting whatsoever, and I feel like the game was missing a certain flare that I really enjoyed in 5. Honestly, I played the hell out of 3 and loved it so much. I played 5 and loved it so much. But the big thing that really grinds my gears and ruins my time are the weapons. Where is the realism? Like even relatively speaking. I made a silencer out of a bottle and some plastic and other materials. Huh?! That felt stupid in my opinion. When I played 5 I felt like a ****ing professional. I can set up my load outs, and roll with the items that fit my play style. You cannot do this in Far Cry 6. If your best weapon is a pistol, well guess what your using a pistol. Oh, you don't like that? Too ****ing bad! You have a sniper rifle but it takes 5 head shots to "Down" an enemy, while your pistol can do it in 1. This makes no sense and it goes right along with the fact that they added an armor system and an exploitative ammo vulnerability system. It doesn't make sense, it's stupid. I don't like this! If you have fun with this kind of thing that's cool, but it feels to me almost like an overarching Pokemon type weakness system that was put in the game that really doesn't need to be there at all. I wish they would get rid of it. It doesn't feel right. The controls are also jacked as I found my character getting stuck on NPC's, objects and "dead body's". I got killed more times because I glitched onto a dead body and couldn't move while out in the open. It wasn't fun.

If you have a PC and plan to buy it on PC please reconsider. It doesn't play very well on PC unless you have some kind of amazing rig with a top tier graphics card. Which by the way if you all are aware is pretty unrealistic with the current market. The frame rate drops suck and make it exceedingly hard to enjoy the game.

The story is boring to me. I sometimes enjoy parts of it, but the BL2 introduction of characters felt out of place for me, and almost made me laugh at the game. "Is this a joke?" I thought to myself. This games story in general is pretty bunko, and I have never felt so disconnected from a Far Cry story ever. I actually don't like the 3rd person in towns, and I don't like that the main character has his own story. I have always enjoyed the immersion of feeling like I am this unstoppable badass.

At the end of the day it's another Far Cry game that is trying really hard to be reminiscent of the classic Far Cry's but fails at it by being a mediocre **** show that I really can't endorse whatsoever. The story is as a gimmick that fails to keep my attention with a main character that I don't relate too. The weapons system is annoying at best and make it impossible to play my style. The graphics optimization on PC is terrible. I've played a lot of the Far Cry games but this is probably the most disliked one that I have played so far. My entire opinion is my own and I understand that it won't be popular, but it is what it is because I came into this excited to enjoy my own adventure and between a game that missed it's mark with me and Ubisoft being unwilling to provide me with any type of refund after not having on the Steam market has been a travesty for me. I am already aware that a lot of people do like this game, and I think that's great! But this game just isn't for me, and I would consider this to be a great failure if you like Far Cry games the way I do. It felt like the death of something I love.

The story is bland and uninteresting from the very start. Your character is just thrown into the situation and goes with everything. Non-existent character development and just cliches among cliches. Cutscenes are boring. You just can't bring yourself to care about these characters. Not even Giancarlo Esposito (great actor BTW) can keep this trainwreck together.
The graphics are up to next gen standards and highly detailed. It is overall a very pleasing looking game. However this negatively impacts visibility of enemies etc. You'll get spotted from a hundred metres away by an enemy who just melded together behind a barrel and a bush. The cracks start to show in the gameplay. The movement of the character is horrendously clunky. You truly feel like a person who's horribly out of shape and who can't sprint for a few seconds. Gunplay feels laughably bad. It's like the developers wanted to make it more realistic, like battlefield. The weapons sound nice, but have abysmal recoil and reload times and are just not fun to use. You're constantly fighting your guns and struggling to hit anything. I've played FPS games for over 20 years and I have never had a bad time trying to hit enemies like in this game. Also, you need to now constantly worry about using the right ammo type against the right type of enemy (AP or Soft Target rounds). Takedown animations look cool but take FOREVER. It's faster to just shoot them in the head. Overall this is a huge disappointment. The trailers looked cool and was just stoked to play the new next gen Far Cry game.

Ubisoft's signature franchises continue to deliver on what the fans have come to expect and Far Cry 6 is no exception. A sprawling sandbox with tons to do and perfect escapism for a few hours… a few tens of hours. Fans of the series or Ubisoft's style, in general, will want to pick this one up, those who haven't ever clicked with them will find nothing new here to change their mind, with only a few changes that just do not push the boat out or move away from the formulaic. Most exciting though, is the upcoming DLC: a season pass that promises to give players a whole different experience. Stepping into the shoes of the villains of the previous games, starting with Vaas. Stay with us here at Cubed3, where we'll be covering it soon.

The new episode of the Far Cry series really tries a lot to find new ways how to enjoy the game, and at the same time it relies on the unattainable depth that the charismatic Giancarlo Esposito was supposed to give to the game. Instead, players again receive a disparate mishmash that is increasingly moving away from both the original Far Cry idea and the Just Cause sandbox.

If I’m being honest, my frustrations with the marketing’s focus on the worst caricatures of Latinx people made me brace myself for a racist triple-A experience full of gross clichés and awkward attempts to be apolitical. Instead, I was surprised to find that more thought than I expected was put into its depiction of Latinx people. Although it isn’t perfect — those cringeworthy lines! The grind of finding gear! — it’s better than what I initially expected, and that counts for something.
