Fairy Tail 2 is more than just a sequel. Gust delivers a real breath with a revisited formula much more dynamic and fun, but sad to found back the same defaults than the 2020 game.

With ten chapters and an epilogue, the game is shorter than the anime it is based on, but that ensures that the game remains interesting until the end. Fairy Tail 2 is a must for fans of the series, but also accessible for those who want to get acquainted for the first time.

Fairy Tail 2 is a wonderful RPG with fast paced combat, a gorgeous world to explore and a whole lot of familiar anime faces. It’s not a game that’s particularly accessible for people who haven’t watched the anime though, and certainly not those who skipped the first game. Despite this it’s hard to deny that this is an engaging RPG experience crafted by genre experts, and for fans of the series especially it’ll be an absolute delight.

Fairy Tail 2 is a good RPG that excellently adapts the events of the last arc of the manga/anime. It's a real treat for fans with its good combat system and good character representation, although its technical limitations hinder the game's potential.

Fairy Tail 2 is made for fans who can enjoy the well-implemented attacks. Visually appealing and exciting, especially thanks to the many effects and the story moves along quickly. However, it's still somehow just typical JRPG uniformity that would like to have more individuality.

This sequel improves its predecessor with better combat and visuals, though it suffers from underwhelming exploration, technical inconsistencies, and lack of localization. Fans of the franchise will enjoy its story and charm, but its limited innovations might not attract broader JRPG enthusiasts.

A definite recommendation for Fairy Tail fans, Fairy Tail 2 has its issues, mainly with pacing, but the overall package is an enjoyable journey with a beloved cast of characters.

Fairy Tail 2 seems like a perfectly lovely RPG for fans of the franchise. It doesn't break any molds, and it leans heavily on fan service, but if all you want is a chance to play an RPG with your favorite cast members, it does the job. The over-the-top combat styling keeps things interesting in what would otherwise be a generic button-mashing experience, and there are enough RPG mechanics to provide the satisfaction of tricking out your favorite characters. It's not a game for people who are unfamiliar with the series, but Fairy Tail fans will be quite delighted by the experience.

Fairy Tail 2 is a highly polished, cel-shaded action-JRPG that faithfully adapts the final dramatic arc of the Fairy Tail franchise into video game form, but its severe lack of onboarding for newcomers risks alienating a much larger potential audience.
