Double Dragon Revive is exactly what the series needed to come back from obscurity. Veterans and new players alike will enjoy what Yuke’s has brought out here. It may not be groundbreaking, or even a AAA title by today’s standards, but it’s a lot of fun and can be picked up and played by almost anyone. I really would like to see this series continue with remakes based on sequels, or even an original story. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Revive marks the return of a classic with refreshed and well-executed mechanics, though it stumbles with a weak story and outdated visuals. Its combat system is fun and full of potential, but the lack of post-game content makes it more of a short-term experience—best enjoyed casually with friends.

Double Dragon Revive lacks a more decisive personality, but there's no doubt that the game manages to overcome skepticism, delivering a solid enough gameplay system and a great beat'em up experience for modern times. The only downside is the rather limited content in terms of length and variety, but the merits in the sound design and the small details in the interaction with the environment stand out, ensuring that long-time fans will find something here with the potential to become great in the near future.

Double Dragon Revive isn’t the rebirth fans were hoping for. Its combat impresses with a variety of defensive and environmental mechanics that add real depth to each fight, but other elements drag the experience down. Sudden difficulty spikes create frustration, and the light platforming sections feel underdeveloped. The presentation also needs an overhaul as its uninspired visuals and soundtrack fail to capture the energy and attitude that once defined the franchise. There’s a solid foundation here, but it’ll take more than nostalgia and new mechanics to truly bring Double Dragon back to life.

Double Dragon is back, and it looks better than ever. Good looks and more freedom when it comes to movement doesn't translate to a game that's more fun to play, however, with the combat of Double Dragon Revive feeling rather clunky. And so, while it isn't a bad game by any means, it's simply not as enjoyable as it should be.

Far from the polished Streets of Rage 4, Double Dragon Revive stumbles over its balancing and rushes its finishing touches. Yet behind all the clumsiness of this brawler lies a small heart that beats to the rhythm of fluid combos and punks sent flying into dumpsters, windows, and electric panels. These environmental finishers add both soul and impact to a beat ’em up that takes a little longer than usual to reveal its strengths over its flaws. While waiting for some much-needed patches, Double Dragon Revive doesn’t deserve to appear in your favorite YouTuber’s “Top 5 Worst Double Dragon Games,” and that’s already something. But it does show just how far this franchise still has to go as it searches for a better future without tarnishing its past.

Double Dragon Revive aims for arcade nostalgia but forgets what made those glory days fun. The gameplay’s flat, features feel unfinished, and the price is steep. Old-school fans might still squeeze a few hours of fun out of it, but you should wait for a discount.
