Jun 3, 2025Disney Illusion Island is a must-play for classic Disney fans, and a very welcome multiplayer experience for PlayStation faithful.
-
Jun 9, 2025Disney Illusion Island from Dlala Studios is a fantastic platformer that features some gorgeous animation, a decent story, and short stints of good gameplay that will keep gamers hooked. While it may not completely satisfy more seasoned gamers, it should entertain those who adore the mouse house.

Jun 15, 2025The best thing about Disney Illusion Island Starring Mickey and Friends is, firstly, the cooperative multiplayer for up to four people and, secondly, the fluidity of the character movements and animations, two factors that partly compensate for the lack of combat and the simplicity of the level design. However, the unambitious production and the lack of use of Disney characters still make it clear that this is a metroidvania that, even if it is fun to play in a group and bears the name of a big brand, was not made to be memorable.

Aug 11, 2025Disney Illusion Island feels a little shallow. With a lack of combat and a slow introduction to your abilities in-game, things can quickly become stale. However, playing with a few friends makes the game blossom into a much better experience.
-
Jun 20, 2025Disney Illusion Island looks great, but being devoid of combat, the gameplay of this Metroidvania eventually comes to feel a bit stale and repetitive. Still, Disney fans will certainly get some enjoyment out of it, especially if they play it in local co-op with friends or family members.
-
Jun 3, 2025Considering how revered the Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion games were from the 16-bit era for their mastery and level design, there is still absolutely oodles of potential for a contemporary genre effort to hit those highs, while still retaining the roundly attractive visual presentation that we see here. That game however, isn't Disney Illusion Island. Then again, if your age has yet to hit double digits and the idea of watching live-action Disney remakes and suchlike make you giddy rather than making your eyeballs roll into the back of your skull, or you're just in the mood for a super relaxing, breezy and zero stress platformer, then by all means feel free to add another point or so to the score seen below.

Jun 6, 2025Disney Illusion Island is the exact same experience on PS5 as it was on Switch. There are no extra features, and it still looks crisp and plays tight. But I have to ask the question “Who was Disney Illusion Island made for?” It fails as a Disney-themed game, as a retro 2D platformer, and as a continuation of the Disney “Illusion” series. It absolutely succeeds as baby’s first Metroidvania. This would make a great game for a parent to introduce a young child how to play platformers and Metroidvanias. I can’t imagine an adult playing this and not getting bored after a couple hours though. And if young kids can figure out Minecraft, they can just play a classic Metroidvania instead. A co-op Metroidvania is an enticing idea, but this one is only for newbees.
