Darwin’s Paradox! is an interesting and entertaining experiment that would deserve a sequel, provided it brings not only the core idea, but also enough (and substantial) variety to support it. It’s a game that, despite having a strong and in some ways innovative concept, never truly chooses to take risks, settling instead for delivering a well-executed experience—albeit one that is too short and often repetitive.

When it works, Darwin's Paradox is an entertaining platformer with a wide variety of challenges and environments. However, its short duration, along with a number of programming issues, makes it difficult to recommend broadly. It has good ideas, but it clearly needed more time in the oven.

Translating an octopus’ natural brainpower into gameplay mechanics, Darwin’s Paradox! engages this plucky cephalopod in tentacle espionage action.

Darwin’s Paradox is a game with many strengths. Its technical execution, art direction, and overall production values ​​are impressive—especially given the sheer ambition it displays. The concept of playing as an octopus in a cinematic-style platformer-stealth game is excellent and well-executed, following in the footsteps of the studio’s key inspirations: Limbo and Little Nightmares. What’s more, it is far more warm and inviting than its predecessors! That said, Poulpy’s quest ultimately falls short: the gameplay never really takes off and can quickly become tedious. It just goes to show that Darwin’s Paradox can sometimes work in reverse.

Darwin’s Paradox! is an attempt to bring stealth and suspense to a 2.5D platformer with puzzle-solving and touches of humor, which has turned out mostly well. Its core premise of controlling the octopus and its innate abilities is one of the main hooks of the game. Although it doesn't offer anything that hasn't been seen before, it is a title that deserves a chance.

Darwin's Paradox! is an adventure told with fantastic animation and undeniable charisma. It stumbles with somewhat unrefined gameplay systems and a bland puzzle approach, but it will still manage to bring a smile to your face.

I am a big fan of cinematic platformers. I appreciate this attempt at taking the mechanics and presentational focus of the genre and applying them to a fun cartoon. That part of the game, alongside the platforming and puzzles, works well and is attractive. Unfortunately, the frequent sneaking slows the game down and is a barrier instead of a fun series of challenges to overcome.

This cinematic platformer offers a charming protagonist and flashes of visual beauty, yet it collapses under rigid stealth and frustrating trial-and-error design. Although the platforming feels natural, the repetitive industrial environments and clunky pacing hinder the experience. It ultimately delivers a mediocre adventure that struggles to distinguish itself within a crowded genre.

A number of cool cephalopod-themed abilities and a focus on stealth set Darwin’s Paradox apart from other linear platformers, though it’s let down by imprecise controls and sluggish loading states between deaths that lead to much of its gameplay feeling frustrating. Its focus on a satirical hyper-capitalist world is engaging, but its bleak environmental design leaves its dystopian world feeling bland rather than enticing to explore. Despite this, some neat puzzles that make clever use of the unique traits of the octopus still make this a decent adventure for mollusc-maniacs.

Darwin’s Paradox! delivers an equal mix of puzzles, platforming, and frustration, with imprecise controls and counterintuitive situations. Its eye-catching design, sense of humor, and a few brilliant moments save it from the abyss.

Great graphics and varied areas and challenges make up for a fun if uneven experience.

Charming and occasionally engaging, Darwin’s Paradox! Is an uneven and sometimes irritating stealth platformer with a few too many quirks and inconsistencies to outright recommend.

A more family friendly attempt to mimic the likes of Limbo and Inside but while the graphics are impressive the gameplay feels stolid and poorly paced.
