Chef Life: A Restaurant Simulator captures both the stress, gratification, and realism of the heat in the kitchen. With the opportunity to juggle many different knives at once, such as prepping, managing staff, and cooking, there’s a lot to this game. Players can show individual creativity through plate and restaurant design, or focus simply on the meal. It’s a solid addition to the many different cooking games within the simulation genre.

It may not be the most in-depth sim, but Chef Life: A Restaurant Simulator does a great job of recreating the mechanics of running a restaurant without devolving into grim spreadsheet nonsense or coming off as loose-limbed mobile port fodder. I wouldn’t give it a Michelin star, but I’d definitely eat there.

While it may not be served with intuitive cooking controls, Chef Life: A Restaurant Simulator delivers an engaging and unique game. Cooking dishes is a challenge to begin with but with some practice you can make them perfect, Having total control over your restaurant ensures there are plenty of ways to pass the hours as you customise the interior design and plating layouts, and the ability to lower the difficulty down to a simmer means you are able to enjoy a leisurely cooking sim, or keep the heat on high for a more realistic restaurant experience.

Chef Life: A Restaurant Simulator nails the minutia of cooking, with impressively detailed recipes that most people could only dream of making in real-life. Unfortunately, the gameplay loop struggles to keep you engrossed, and the experience is rigid in ways that won’t be palatable for some.

Do well and everyone is happy and they might leave tips. You can spend your hard-earned coin on new cooking equipment, décor for your bistro, furniture, that kind of thing. As you progress, you learn new recipes, and you can add new flourishes to old ones. Eventually you get more chefs you can lead to help you out. And if you're really struggling there's options to lower the difficulty significantly, which makes the game quite chilled out if that's more your thing.

I will start this review by saying. Amazing game. I love that the gameplay is similar to classic games, this is also mixed with easy mechanics to understand. I do have to say this is a review that's also to critique some of the things that I think could really use some work. I don't know if this will ever be seen by NACON, or their people that do online research for feedback, however. I feel that there should be ways to navigate the menus with the directional buttons. It becomes some what nerve racking when the only way to navigate the list is the analog controller. The mechanics of doing it to prep dishes and also make them is great using these controls, just very hard to navigate only using only analog. This would also pick of time used to select items as well.. As not always is everyone fast enough with analog and some people do not what to break their analog sticks just by using them all the time. I feel also that the dish washing part at first is also really time consuming as well, to wait for a pan to be cleaned could be easily upgraded to was faster. I also haven't completed the game as well, so feel free to critique that saying that I am wrong. I also haven't experienced any other way then wasting your items you buy for making new dishes during the start of the day, but then you can't use it on the menu until the next day. I feel that in order to fix this issue can be solved in a few ways: 1: allow for more time or allow for the player to pause the time before the store opens, possibly give time off for us to practice new dishes, I am sure this is possible when it comes to the store being opened, If equipped with no angry customers as a helpful hand. One could make time to learn them.. A skill system would also be helpful, this would include increase perfection to plates we are making, faster cleaning, increased money from customers for being a renowned chef, one that is liked. Get rid of the only way to review or look at directions for our dishes we are making is by clicking on the cookbook itself, and giving us a mobile cookbook instead, which in turn would pause the timing, but would also help us with making dishes fast and easier. It does get problematic when the only way to review what we are making is to leave our dishes entirely and risk them being burnt. I really feel this game has a lot of potential to be great. If it listens to the the people who really enjoy the game. This is something many game developers lack in. They don't listen to their fans or gamers, do things their own way, and end up losing the fan base for those who see possible potential.. I really hope that the person behind this game sees this.. I love it, just has some screws that need tightening. :) Expand

    Other review is true.

    This never shouldve been released.
Even if you do get past the INSANE # of bugs, JUST within the tutorial the damn game isnt even fun.

The fact critics avg is 7.1 just proves total corruption and lies on their end. Like most of us already knew that but for any of them to rate this even over a 4 is complete brown nosing for unknown reasons. (Well, tbh we know why, and its pathetic)

I went in expecting a more complex mix of overcooked and some sort of restaurant making sim. But even the recipes in this game (job???) are not even a little fun making. Like, at all. Forget the bugs for a moment, the game is boring as hell. That said there IS a ton of bugs. Horrible explanations, etc. like having to make the same dish 3 times in the first tutorial, but it only says to make it once. Leaving you to believe its stuck and you quit. Mind you at this point, you cannot even save.

Dont support this game. Its nothing like overcooked. Which wouldve been perfectly fine, yes, but the bugs and it not being fun AT all…. Man this game is flat out horrible. Would not even pay 9.99. It feels like an actual job playing this, maybe they should be paying us. Seriously this game is disgustingly bad
