This game is alot of fun but it has a lot of performance issues when playing online and there is a lot of microtransactions. This game is great despite all those problems but 70 dollars is not worth it for this game just wait for a discount or pirate it.

The campaign is pretty good but doesn't live up to my expectations after 2019's campaign. The campaign also has a lot of animations that feel raw and incomplete. The infiltration parts that 2019 was famous for are more dotted around throughout the campaign and don't capture the satisfaction as the mission Clean House did in 2019. Character interactions also feel a lot more cartoony and not as realistic as 2019s. The worst part of the entire campaign are armored enemies. Before, you could walk through an entire building shooting once or twice at people making you feel like an actual spec-op. Now, you have to waste an entire half mag to kill enemies really losing that satisfaction. Other than these points, there are some cool bits in the campaign such as the rappel mission or the pick-up truck mission. Expand

I would rate both the campaign and multiplayer an 8/10.

Campaign is fun, simple as that. Nothing will top the iconic, yet surprising airport scene of the original. I believe it is unfair to compare the two. Old characters are still badass and new characters are equally as badass. I appreciate the experimental nature of the mission design even if it doesn’t hit every single time. What

What holds it back are the balancing issues. Enemy AI is OP while teammate bot AI is mediocre. It took me out of the realism when I sometimes felt I died unfairly because of occasional weird pacing of the story and enemies flanking me from seemingly out of nowhere.

Multiplayer is also just a good time. Graphics are obviously great, maps are varied, and there are a solid amount of modes to start the MWII meta that’ll last for approximately the next two years. I don’t have a problem with no hardcore mode at launch, it will come. I don’t have problems with the weapon leveling system as leveling up a different weapon to either unlock a new weapon or its attachments have forced me to try out different weapons and keep things fresh. What holds it back from me giving multiplayer a 9 is something the COD community has been complaining about for a while, SBMM. Good players complain that they don’t want to have to select their best loadout every time to stay competitive. An average player like me who is too good for beginners but not great, is put in lobbies where I’m just frying noobs. I don’t get good practice this way. There is no reason why we can’t have both “ranked” matches and random lobbies. Hardcore and regular modes still don’t do the community justice. A play again feature where you can fight the same team with your buddies also needs to return.

All in all, a semi-return to form for IW and Activision.

4/10: A sequel to another propaganda game.
To keep up with neoliberal revisionist ideology - this time bad mouths Iran, as if Iran has no reason to be upset, let alone retaliate because the "US EMPIRE" assassinated Qassem Soleimani.

Campaign: Starts out fairly weak with the assassination of "Soleimani" character by the Imperial colonizers UK + US EMPIRE, then turns into Ghost Recon Wildlands and the Sicario movie and gradually becomes illogical throughout.

The premise of the missiles being a threat is watered down because they're just normal HIMARS missiles in shipping containers. There isn't anything of massive tension, let alone concern with these missiles.

Keeping up with revisionist tradition like MW I had, the opening scene with the cruise missile is implied to be hypersonic BUT the US have failed every hypersonic missile test to date. They do not have that technology.

Characters: You basically play as Gaz and Soap throughout the game. (Rodolfo, Ghost, and Shadow Company are negligible because their characters are never really fleshed out, or are just one time use throwaway missions for plot)

Supporting cast: Valeria is by far the best character in this entry. Perfectly cast and acted flawlessly.
Hassan is an okay character initially, he is marred by bad writing, any sense of logic is thrown away and only exists for post-game plot. (i.e: the Al Qatala invasion of Mexico+US)

Diego is here for a moment and gone the next. (Kind of irrelevant sicario to Valeria)

Kate Laswell is now a 'lesbian tokenism checklist' character with a awful in-game character model, still is the enemy (CIA), has some actual field work, but doesn't really do all that much.

Farah is a Xenophobic character that everyone seems to forget she's been designated as a terrorist.

Nikolai's story/plot/writing claims he's a "Russian patriot"... but he works with the Imperialist enemy & Farah which hates all Russians - a patriot would not do these things.

Coop has some design flaws - you have to pick a 'kit' (Assault/Medic/Recon) to use before you even matchmake, so you could end up picking the same kit with whoever you get matched with and then you're at a disadvantage, and you are unable to see your team mate's kit, nor able to change it after the match starts.

Multiplayer is a different can of worms. It does promote movement in most maps (except Crown Raceway and Taraq), but the overall feel is endless running eSport twitch shooter, and devoid of actual "war", most maps are sterile environments that don't have a uniform vision (unlike MW I 2019) and much like the initial concern over how the beta testing periods felt very unpolished, the "full game" is an extension of the beta and is nowhere near finished nor polished enough to warrant a release.

The game is filled with ungodly bugs up the yin yang, the UI is atrocious and SBMM has suked all the life out of the franchise and is here to stay even if people don't want it.

Regarding the overall incomplete state of the release - to compare to MW I (2019) that game was miles ahead and felt finished upon release.

There is still no way to choose a crossplay via peripherals. I still do not want to play against mouse-toting superior aim cheaters regardless of platform. It is not fun to do so.

MP is completely ruined by EOMM which is designed to just make you feel miserable most of the time. Netcode is absolutely atrocious. There's always severe desync between clients.

The UI is still horrible to use and has too many glitches to count.

In a match whole swathes of level geometry just vanish for seconds at a time. Sometimes you can't use killstreaks anymore starting in the middle of a match.

IW has done almost nothing to fix all those issues, it's gonna take a year until it's playable from a pure technical standpoint.

TLDR: Horrible hitreg, netcode delay, flashbang, short TTK, long ADS time, long sprint out, riot shields, cluster mines, ledge hangs, bugged damage, bugged aim assist, awful unlock system, new weapons locked in different games, **** bugged UI. This game is just a complete dumpster fire.

I've had it with Infinity Ward. $70 gets you a short campaign, multiplayer that rarely gets any content, infuriating raids with zero replayability, "spec ops" which is by all means embarrassing, lifeless, and underdeveloped, and a ranked mode with more holes in it than anyone can count. Warzone is the focus, but Warzone is not what any of us paid for...and what's great is now they're adding exclusive game modes to Warzone that you can only play if you buy the game. WHO ASKED, IW? Is that an excuse for using the money we spend on "the best selling cod" entirely on Warzone and tossing the MP lads ONE decent map?

Game full of AI and there isn't a single mode you can play alone. Spec ops is terrible anyway. Limiting it to 2 players...game's not even balanced to recognize if the other player leaves, it's a mess lacking a lot of thought. Doubtful we ever see any meaningful updates beyond Raids, which, by definition, are NOT actual raids.

DMZ is a gimmick. I'm sure there's a small crowd enjoying it, somehow, but my friends all share this opinion...No real reward for playing, it's repetitive, and after a few runs you're left wondering what it is you're actually trying to accomplish, or why you're even bothering with it instead of playing any other mode. Compared to other Dark Zones or alike games it just lacks any momentum of it's own. Probably would have been better as just a PvE mode. Once again, funded by our purchases of the full game.

Look, it's good to explore new modes and try to build on, but make sure the core of what keeps people coming back is fully intact first. These MP mode variants have been down right abysmal. I like objective based modes so I try them all at least twice, and good lord not a single one of these playlists has been worth playing. The control points or hardpoint locations on some of these maps boggle ones mind as to the placement. Thank god for the map pool in ranked because a lot of these maps are self-admitted unbalanced. Which makes most casual play just a literal joke. Overall, I'm disappointed. Way too big of an investment to be left with so little to actually do. It SEEMS like there's SO many modes and things for you to try, when there is LESS campaign, LESS multiplayer, and LESS co-op than ever before in an IW game. Cold War makes this game look barebones, and deservedly so. Save your cash, play Warzone if you must...and drop to you knees with me and pray that Treyarch has enough time and legit kills it in 2024.

Finally I found the campaign somewhere hidden away at the bottom. Once I finally figured out how to play the game, the graphics were decent but the gameplay simply BORING. Not only does it not bring anything new, it’s a few steps backwards. This seems to really embody everything that‘s wrong with gaming now. You pay $70 for something that just tries to sell you more stuff. They spent more time on that than the game itself, probably. I’m so sick of this getting worse and worse. I’ve decided to personally boycott developers who do this. I won’t buy these games anymore. Right now the game is slowly dying because no one can stand playing this **** They even use SBMM to make you buy more skins and actually give you disadvantages if you don't... Activision and infinity ward are just a bad joke. It's been a month since I deleted this garbage and never felt better.
After what Activision has done to this game and the 2 previous ones, I just hope this franchise dies already so no one has to ever play their crap again. Activision has no value or dignity

Campaign: You travel around the globe to chase one generic antagonist who gets less screentime than side characters. The story is short, rushed, dull, predictable and quite frankly forgettable.

Multiplayer: Lots of modes available, but only a few maps. Good selection of starting weapons and you unlock more with XP. Unfortunately it is very buggy. On my PS5 it has crashed about five times in the first week and it also exits matches randomly.

Glitchy multiplayer, pathetic campaign that has ridiculous silly things it asks of you like crafting shivs on a assault on a tower block full of terrorists with launch controls for a scud missile? I'll stick to Modern Warefare Remastered but may boot this up semi-consistently for a match or two.

As usual, full price or not, the game is not complete. You are paying a premium price for a game that will - hopefully - have the content it should've had at launch except in 12 months.

EDIT: Refunded the purchase once I snapped out of it and read their S1 roadmap. The addition of meh maps - and only two of them - the trickling of new weapons that are literally n the campaign but were specifically held back just to add later to MP. **** Completely not worth playing when a better MW2 literally exists. Hard pass.

This is my 2nd review of this game. The first one that I wrote was a lot more positive. After the season 1 patch where a lot more content was added I think I can finally conclude all the goods and wrongs of this year's CoD.

First of all let's start with campaign. It's surpisingly good and realistic. It's a mature story with likeable characters that isn't afraid to pull punches but also doesn't exaggerate when it comes to violence. I really liked it. I don't think it beats the "rule of cool" of the original MW2 but there will certainly be people who enjoy it way more for it's toned down approach.

The Spec Ops. At first I felt they were fine but it has quite a few problems, The scenarios you're being put in are kind of the extension or you could say an addition to campaign. They are semi-open world missions where you are given several objectives and to finish the mission you have to complete them and extract.
They are still trying to force class setups which is fine I suppose but I didn't really feel like they changed much. They are a lot more scripted and are just better version of MW19 SpecOps.
On first playthrough they're fun but they get mostly boring on repeat. Not bad but I'd prefer if they went back and tried to recreate original MW2s SpecOps.

Multiplayer introduced semi-new gunsmith and perk system but other than that it's the old same formula.
First of all the maps. They're ok. There are good ones and bad ones. It's a bit of a mix. Most of them are better than the ones in MW19.
There's quite a few weapons. I also quite like the approach with balance smiliar to original MW2's logic which is "if everything is OP then nothing is". Sure there are better and worse guns but for the most part I think the game is doing a good job in balance department.
The new gunsmith is kind of pointless. I won't get into details but basically it complicates the progression and people are mixed on it. I think it's a change for the sake of change but it didn't impact me negatively nor very positively so for me it's whatever.
I actually quite like the new perk system where you get your perks over the duration of the match. Yes it does take away some of the value you'd normally have from it but it allows you to pick 4 not 3 perks and it rewards you with them faster if you get kills which is nice.
The pace of the game slowed down as now you can't really keep your speed momentum as you could in MW19 with jumping around corners and slide canceling. Instead now to escape you're allowed to dolphin dive which can surprisingly often save you if you're losing a gunfight. I like it. It's a fun mechanic that returns after almost 10 years from BO2.

The anticipated DMZ is a lot more dissapointing than I expected. A lot of it is just either fighting AI till you're dry or just driving a vehicle. I really discourage people from playing it. I like extraction games but this one just isn't balanced well. At least yet.
The game doesn't know what difficulty it should put you on so it just starts spamming bots that aren't a big threat but in large groups can be dangerous. And because of that you're often forced to switch your loadout or pray to God for some ammo drop. I wouldn't recommend playing it without a coordinated team as you have to prepare for a lot of different situations and randoms just can't grant you that.
It also a shame that they forced lock a weapon behind this mode without any other way of earning it.

Last one thing is the battlepass. The new battlepass kind of improves how you earn the rewards. The rewards are spread throughout multiple "tiers" let's call them and those tiers are tied to other tiers. In those tiers there are 5 rewards. 4 are insignificant but one is the good one that most people want. After that other tiers unlock and you're allowed to progress different tiers.
You progress them thorugh points you earn by playing or buying them. It's a weird system and again it seems complicated for no reason because they could've just let you pick rewards you want and after that you'd gone after the ones you want less. It's a change for the sake of change.

Overall MW2 2022 has it's fair share of positives but a lot of it seems overshadowed by it's shortcomings and shallow changes that really don't intend on changing much. I wish it was more of a spiritual successor to original MW2 but it really isn't a bad game. I just wish the whole package was more consistent rather than being good in certain parts and bad in others.

After Vanguard last year and Cold War in 2020, I was hesitant to pick up another Call of Duty game after the back-to-back disappointment. But the safety blanket of the words Modern Warfare in the title roped me back in – and I’m glad it did.

    STORY

Modern Warfare II is a sequel to the Modern Warfare reboot, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). It’s 2022, and we rejoin SAS Captain Price, Sergeant Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley, and Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish AKA Task Force 141 as they hunt down Quds Force Major Hassan Zyani for funding terrorist activity.

I found the narrative was hard to follow at some points, but the overall experience of the campaign kept me captivated throughout the 17 missions it had to offer. The missions on offer vary from your classic infiltration missions, and then your stealth, sniper and survival missions. Even though these missions had a type of angle intended for completion, the game in most parts allows you to finish them however you like. If being stealthy is not your thing, you can go guns blazing, even if it makes it a little more difficult. The mix-up of missions was great, although there were two air-borne missions in a row followed by a sniper mission which had me itching for a classic run-and-gun infiltration mission.

    GAMEPLAY

The core gameplay in MWII remains somewhat the same as its predecessor, which isn’t a bad thing. Infinity Ward does what it does best, and that is creating a Call of Duty game any FPS fan would enjoy. While some extra mechanics were added for story fulfillment purposes, there wasn’t anything new or inventive. Mission 13, “Alone”, introduced a crafting system that I thought was a welcome addition to the gameplay. It was probably one of my favourite missions, although one that I found the most challenging.

The AI during the campaign felt a little inconsistent. The enemies sometimes caught me off guard and my AI squad mate(s) saved me numerous times, whereas other times I would see AI follow questionable tactics. I could just stand at the top of the staircase and have countless enemies run straight into my line of fire. I might be harsh on the AI, but it doesn’t live up to the intellectual and independent AI that I recently loved in The Last of Us Part I.

    VISUALS

I played this on PlayStation 5 and I could tell that Infinity Ward wanted to push the limits of current-gen consoles. The game’s visuals are breathtaking and the cutscenes look like a live-action movie. Backdrops such as Amsterdam, Chicago, and the Texas/Mexico border are the most stunning and accurately crafted locations which had me in awe.

    MUTLIPLAYER

I’m going to talk about the multiplayer experience briefly. Call of Duty multiplayer is not for everyone. I prefer games like Apex Legends, which offer a more team-based experience. I occasionally dabble in Call of Duty multiplayer when my friends ask me to, but it has never been my go-to multiplayer game. I have played around 8-10 hours of multiplayer since Modern Warfare II‘s launch and I have to say it caught me off guard. I love it. That said, I can not play it for hours on end, but I am enjoying it despite some of the bugs it had at launch (but that is expected for a large-scale launch like Call of Duty). The maps are fun to play; most don’t feel too big or too small. If you just want to blow off some steam after a hard day at work, then it might be time to jump back into Call of Duty multiplayer.

    THE VERDICT

Infinity Ward has won me over with its delivery of a captivating Campaign mode and fun multiplayer. While no risks were taken with this iteration of COD, it was a tactical decision made to return the franchise to form.

    8.5/10

This is probably the most skilless game i have ever played cause of all the campers and if you combine that with skill based matchmaking you get a horrible game. The time to kill is about the same as vanguard which is way too fast and the gun balancing is also about as trash as vanguard. Footsteps are louder than ever, no red dots on the minimap which also promotes camping even more and combine that with the horrible maps and you get the best attempt at making the worst game i have ever played next to some mobile games. The developers clearly spent all their time and effort on the campaign and nothing else. The only gamemode that can be even slightly fun is ground war, but all of the other gamemodes are filled with prone campers with mines and no girlfriend. The developers never listen to the community and are only focussed on money. This game should have been for how bad and unfinished it actually is. The game is so unfinished because there are only around 10 gamemodes in total with 14 maps and out of those maps you only have 4 maps that are actually decent. There isnt even a hardcore playlist and gunfight, which is my favorite gamemode is also not in the game. There isnt even a combat record so now no one can show off how much they played or how many nukes they have. I have a ps5 and the game has already crashed on me 22 times, how is that even possible? I only have 40 hours on the game and i already came across 25 hackers, is there even an anti cheat? The time to kill is already as fast as the average person can blink, but if you get a headshot you can usually kill someone in 1-2 shots with almost any gun. The only good thing about the game is the graphics, but no one cares about graphics when the game itself is trash. Compared to vanguarbage, this game is somehow even worse. Expand

Mercado is okay but the rest are really bad. Second, many attachments slow down ads and can actually make the guns worse. This creates a more campy environment. Third, perks, silencers, minimap…it’s all bad. The most fun I had playing this was the campaign. It was pretty good, and I could tell the devs were trying to make very unique experiences with each chapter. I hate to even say this; I had more fun playing Vanguard. Expand

All the 0s-4s are review bombs I think a 5 is fair depending on how your online experience has been going. I gave it an 8 being generous to compensate for the review bombing taking place I think it’s a solid 7 because of the really poor UI and an unlock system that makes absolutely no sense. U literally have to level like 6 different guns to a certain level just to unlock a damn sight. It’s not only confusing but also frustrating because some of these guns I have no interest in playing with but I’m forced to if I want a particular attachment or gun. Other than that though I think the game is pretty fun and there is a lot of enjoyment to be had at a discounted price. Don’t pay $70+ for this thing Expand

Can’t play the campaign because I keep getting booted (ps5) on soaps cartel mission. So maybe the campaign is really good, but the multiplayer is not an improvement over Cold War or modern warfare 2019. Cash grab

So buggy! The campaign has a lot of good ideias, but the execution is dreadful. The high points, like the Amsterdam part they showed in the trailer only took like 2 min tops. All the water phases with so many bugs and invisible walls, it was like torture diving and swimming through stuff.
I'm not gonna give 0 because the graphics are very good and the co-op stuff is kind cool, but it

So no one like how Infinity Ward has done the Perks and turned some Perks into "field upgrades" I'm sorry but it's was a bad idea.
With that the multiplayer is almost unplayable.
No joke I gave it a month and when I was sick of it I deleted it.

Das Spiel is richtig kake is für Leute die langsam wie ne Schnecke im im Visier alles ab aimen wollen es is für Camping wie gemacht in jeder Ecke liegt Wehr jeder noob kann dich holen weil die Time to kill niedriger is als das Niveau von denn Entwicklern so einen dreck aus meinem Lieblings spiel Franchise zu machen das es dich auch der letzte Ralf kauft und ein Bier dabei trinken kann.

It is the most intense and realistic multiplayer game I have ever seen. The clothing, equipment and glitter effects are insane. Activision keeps the promise that it is the most realistic game in Call of Duty history. Sarcasm off! STOP IT!

Even Valorant is more fun, I don’t know why they have to put matchmaking in a casual game mode it makes zero sens, if they wanna put matchmaking in then make a matchmaking mode like how hard is it for em to get that, they got billions of dollar but can’t hear what everybody wants who made em billions of worth that’s crazy really. So basically they made this game to make a new warzone to make more money of it, bo4 had the better battle royal idk how they can downgrade that bad. And the wait time for a match in warzone 2 is wayyyyy to long even gta 5 ps3 loading screen is faster than a game to start on a whole next gen console. The Kampagne was perfect really but it’s not a multiplayer game. It’s really sad how they downgrade year to year and even the ratings says it every year but they don’t care cause they just think they rich and can do what they want. Expand

All I played was single player, and I wonder how could it be so bad compared to the COD:MW release year before this.

    totally garbage
    lack of innovation
changing for the sake of changing
fixing the things that not need to be fixed like the perk system and by fixing i mean f*cking up in fact, and in the same time leaving the same issue that the community been facing since mw 2019 like SBMM and loud footsteps and other stupid things

Let's be honest, there's really no bigger title to compete in the FPS genre at the moment, both in terms of the sometimes mediocre content and this year's very polished graphics. [Issue#324]

A somewhat droll campaign will greet players of Modern Warfare II. It's a short bombastic romp with some fun gunplay moments and fantastic graphics. The multiplayer, however, is a miss as it is no longer a properly combined entity and the lack of replayability is disappointing. A recommendation for CoD fans but for anyone even slightly on the fence perhaps keep shopping or waiting for a sale.

CoD MW 2 is a refreshing single-player experience, providing players with some of the best action-packed moments and great characters, but riddled with multiplayer balancing issues and extreme performance and technical problems. It still is CoD and is fun for anyone who finds its casual shooting gameplay compelling, but it plays safely and doesn’t present itself as something revolutionary for the franchise.
