The developers were too cheap and lazy to add all of that in the disc. It requires internet just to be able to play the campaign. I was on the verge of giving this game a negative score for that reason alone, but I would be in denial if I said I didn't have an absolute blast with this game. This game has tons of replay value with the multiplayer. There is even a third person mode in multiplayer.

The campaign has fun and diverse missions, although there are some parts of the campaign that can be annoying. It has good attention to detail and interesting moments. Very well paced. The story was okay I guess, didn't really care much about it. The gunplay and player movement are well designed. The graphics are biblical. The environments look stunning. You can play offline multiplayer, but there are only like 3 maps that you can play offline for some reason.

As I mentioned earlier, internet is required to play the campaign and offline modes. So once the developers decide to switch off the servers, you won't be able to play it unless you keep it installed in the PS5 I assume. I will eventually delete it, so it'll end up in the trash can. And the greedy developers had the audacity to charge $70 for this. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the multiplayer. Ground war is better and more balanced. No longer do I feel defenseless when I see a tank. The customization is good. The maps are well thought out compared to the recent CODs. The inclusion of the border crossing map and the F1 raceway map is a stroke of genius. There is even a third person person mode. The skull on the boxart has a cringeworthy face. This made me remove the cover paper off the game case and rip it into pieces. I recommend you get this game until it is like $30-$40.

Campaign is awesome, I really liked it. Writers did a good job creating this. Thanks for the campaign.
Multiplayer - it's trash. I'm new to Playstation, but an experienced PC player. This is just worse than other shooters, you get matched against high level pros with camos and stuff, while you just started playing it. Totally a flop for me. Not worth buying this for multiplayer IMO.

It's a solid COD game but not better than MW2019. Graphically looks very good, sound effects are fantastic and the new gunsmith is a welcoming addition. However, maps are plain average (Some of them really bad), pretty much the same weapons, bad perk system and a disappointing campaign. I still recommend MW2 if you enjoyed MW2019.

The gameplay for the missions is one of the best and breaks tradition for COD game offering different types of styles and moods to each mission presented making each mission unique.

Multiplayer is a mix bag in a lot of ways as from what I've played. There are things in the game that have to be addressed such as the awful UI (User Interface) which was made by ex Hulu developers and it clearly shows. These types of menus should not be allowed in any triple A shooter game ever. The progression for weapons is questionable, in the past you'd mainly level up and once you got to say level 25 or something, you'd unlock a weapon. While that is still true here, there are now new ways to unlock not only guns but attachments as well. It will say in order to use this AR you have to level up a Marksman rifle to level 12 in order to use the AR you want. This is also the same for attachments like muzzles, barrels, grips etc. Making it feel like an unnecessary excuse to use guns that players may not want to use whether it's skill with the weapon or personal preference. The value of the game is bigger than any other COD launch with the amount of game modes in MP that if offers new and old ones combined, however the maps seem to be ehh at best and there isn't that many as compared to what Vanguard launched with most times you'll find yourself being bored playing the same map rotations and that can kill the reparability of the game. One of the modes Invasion, is set in the Ground War maps, but has both players and AI fighting in both teams. This is mode is amazing for XP and Weapon XP so if IW ever does a double XP event, go to that mode as you'll get XP for killing AI combined with getting player kills. New features like the firing range which is similar to the gun ranges we saw in both Advanced Warfare and COD WW2, it works the same way. You customize your gun and if you want to test it before going into public matches, you can hit the firing range button and test it out easily defiantly a great addition to bring back to COD and Warzone 2.

In terms of Spec Ops, it's better than what MW 2019 did but its not something you want to keep playing which just shows how Zombies for COD is a prime PVE mode rather than Spec Ops with only 3 missions and that's it. My take is that it will die out like MW 2019's spec ops did because of Warzone.

Overall, the game is a better value in terms of what you get for $69.99 across all platforms for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC in both Steam and Battle.net, but the main issues is just not really being casual and with problems that seem so overlooked for a COD game. We may have 2 years of this game, but Activision needs to step up and focus on quality rather than seeing how much money they can get out of our wallets in the store with all the bundles. It has great things and fun things to keep you playing, but not for a long time when SBMM comes in and turns matches into a CDL match. I enjoy this game, but it is nowhere near perfect and most focus already is going into Warzone 2 rather than focusing on the players that spent $70 on a game with missing features, glitches, sever issues and tick rate, horrible footstep audio, less maps, and a questionable weapon progression system makes this game not a look back in the glory days of COD, but trying to make a slower pace, try hard shooter FPS game that is not getting attention months after launch other than seeing what they can sell in the store for a quick buck.

In the story mode, there are levels that make the player remember of the first Modern Warfare game, like the dual sniper level and the ship deck level. And there are also levels that try to innovate, like the car racing level and de crafting survival level. Overall the campaign is like an average quality, not as wonderful as the original Modern Warfare trilogy.

Now besides that the games multiplayer is evolving into battlefield and battlefield is trying to become call of duty. What I mean is that it's slower gameplay as you have check your surroundings because in MW2 has a faster time to kill. Camping is more prevalent than before as it's a more viable strategy so that is something that will people will have to get used to. The really bad is the dang User Interface quite literally scrolling through the menu like I am scrolling through the menu on Hulu, second is the weapons progression which is a double edge blade as its good but a huge grind fest but it also feels as though attachments makes some of the gun worse than when you run without them, third is the perk system you get 2 base perks and then a level 2 perk unlocks after a certain time and a level 3 perk after even a longer amount of time so when you build a loadout you have to wait for the perk to activate to make gameplay more fun in which it doesn't feel like your class because you can't be fully geared and can counter a specific build until a certain amount of time has passed in which makes the game slower or more frustrating than it has to be. Currently the disable crossplay option for PS5 is merely cosmetic and does not function while playing multiplayer. Turned off crossplay chat off at the same time and found myself in a multiplayer lobby with random people pre-muted. Being unable to inspect their profile cemented this fact. The fact is that I spend most of my time playing multiplayer angry due to the BS fact that someone has a PC with 180 FOV pulling off a near 180 quick snipe on me every match. Multiple large maps are sniper heaven with close range dominating the few buildings that are there. Leaving little to no cover. It seems they pulled another lazy move of making maps for Warzone first and multiplayer second.

Is there a Multiplayer with 12 yo dominating the chat and screaming in your ear if you forget to mute all? Ouch.

Are there Kill Streak Rewards for bumping the already strong players and punishing their cannon fodder? Double Check.

Is the single player riddled with the same "run to point X and the enemy respawns will stop" trigger type maps? Oh yes!

Is there a level where you have to jump from car to car, while driving a car yourself, shooting out enemies and obstacles while driving and then jumping out of the car before it explodes to hijack another car driving at full speed - a level which is so painstakingly maddening that its designers should be bumped down to replay it for all enternity to see how dumb that design is? You betcha!

As usual, full price or not, the game is not complete. You are paying a premium price for a game that will - hopefully - have the content it should've had at launch except in 12 months.

EDIT: Refunded the purchase once I snapped out of it and read their S1 roadmap. - Most MP maps are forgettable
    - Badly designed and unoptimized UI

Verdict: it can be fun at times, but not worth the full price tag

This is my 2nd review of this game. The first one that I wrote was a lot more positive. After the season 1 patch where a lot more content was added I think I can finally conclude all the goods and wrongs of this year's CoD.

This is my 2nd review of this game. The first one that I wrote was a lot more positive. After the season 1 patch where a lot more content was added I think I can finally conclude all the goods and wrongs of this year's CoD.

First of all let's start with campaign. It's surpisingly good and realistic. It's a mature story with likeable characters that isn't afraid to pull punches but also doesn't exaggerate when it comes to violence. I really liked it. I don't think it beats the "rule of cool" of the original MW2 but there will certainly be people who enjoy it way more for it's toned down approach.

The Spec Ops. At first I felt they were fine but it has quite a few problems, The scenarios you're being put in are kind of the extension or you could say an addition to campaign. They are semi-open world missions where you are given several objectives and to finish the mission you have to complete them and extract.
They are still trying to force class setups which is fine I suppose but I didn't really feel like they changed much. They are a lot more scripted and are just better version of MW19 SpecOps.
On first playthrough they're fun but they get mostly boring on repeat. Not bad but I'd prefer if they went back and tried to recreate original MW2s SpecOps.

Multiplayer introduced semi-new gunsmith and perk system but other than that it's the old same formula.
First of all the maps. They're ok. There are good ones and bad ones. It's a bit of a mix. Most of them are better than the ones in MW19.
There's quite a few weapons. I also quite like the approach with balance smiliar to original MW2's logic which is "if everything is OP then nothing is". Sure there are better and worse guns but for the most part I think the game is doing a good job in balance department.
The new gunsmith is kind of pointless. I won't get into details but basically it complicates the progression and people are mixed on it. I think it's a change for the sake of change but it didn't impact me negatively nor very positively so for me it's whatever.
I actually quite like the new perk system where you get your perks over the duration of the match. Yes it does take away some of the value you'd normally have from it but it allows you to pick 4 not 3 perks and it rewards you with them faster if you get kills which is nice.
The pace of the game slowed down as now you can't really keep your speed momentum as you could in MW19 with jumping around corners and slide canceling. Instead now to escape you're allowed to dolphin dive which can surprisingly often save you if you're losing a gunfight. I like it. It's a fun mechanic that returns after almost 10 years from BO2.

The anticipated DMZ is a lot more dissapointing than I expected. A lot of it is just either fighting AI till you're dry or just driving a vehicle. I really discourage people from playing it. I like extraction games but this one just isn't balanced well. At least yet.
The game doesn't know what difficulty it should put you on so it just starts spamming bots that aren't a big threat but in large groups can be dangerous. And because of that you're often forced to switch your loadout or pray to God for some ammo drop. I wouldn't recommend playing it without a coordinated team as you have to prepare for a lot of different situations and randoms just can't grant you that.
It also a shame that they forced lock a weapon behind this mode without any other way of earning it.

Last one thing is the battlepass. The new battlepass kind of improves how you earn the rewards. The rewards are spread throughout multiple "tiers" let's call them and those tiers are tied to other tiers. In those tiers there are 5 rewards. 4 are insignificant but one is the good one that most people want. After that other tiers unlock and you're allowed to progress different tiers.
You progress them thorugh points you earn by playing or buying them. It's a weird system and again it seems complicated for no reason because they could've just let you pick rewards you want and after that you'd gone after the ones you want less. It's a change for the sake of change.

Overall MW2 2022 has it's fair share of positives but a lot of it seems overshadowed by it's shortcomings and shallow changes that really don't intend on changing much. I wish it was more of a spiritual successor to original MW2 but it really isn't a bad game. I just wish the whole package was more consistent rather than being good in certain parts and bad in others.

Pues nada mal, me gustó más la primera entrega, la campaña no es tan espectacular, los mapas no me encantaron y es muy rápido subir armas, pero aún asi no es mal COD.

This game can be fun at times but there are so many flaws. First, the maps are terrible. The only one I can stomach is the Breenburgh Hotel. Mercado is okay but the rest are really bad. Can’t play the campaign because I keep getting booted (ps5) on soaps cartel mission. So maybe the campaign is really good, but the multiplayer is not an improvement over Cold War or modern warfare 2019. Cash grab

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Campaign & Story: The Story is terrible with logical fallacies everywhere such as when in the missions Close Air and Hardpoint, your objective is to capture Major Hassan Zyani who leads the fake terrorist group in the game Al-Qatala, after capturing Hassan, a cutscene plays in which General Shephard says that Zyani can't be imprisoned and that it would be an act of war and that he has broken no laws both of which are completely incorrect, first off the US is already in a war against Al-Qatala so who would the act of war be towards??? Second, Zyani broke 5 laws that are in 1 mission alone those being arson, attempted murder, being in a **** terrorist group, illegally crossing the US-Mexico border, and ordering another terrorist to fire a rocket launcher at cops. All of those are crimes so idk what they are talking about. Also, why would Shephard send us on the mission if he knew we couldn't hold Zyani??? The rest of the story is bland, dumb, unoriginal, and boring, the thing that saves the campaign is the gameplay/level design. I genuinely can't think of a mission in MW2 that wasn't fun!

Multiplayer: The multiplayer is incredibly fun! All of the guns feel great, shooting people feels great as it's always been, all of the guns feel like they matter, I think that almost every gun is viable in some way. There was a severe lack of maps and game modes at launch with there only being 13 multiplayer maps (10 multi, 3 ground war/invasion) and only 8 modes with only 3 of them being new modes. This lack of maps and modes is less than we have seen in almost any other COD game. Also, this might just be a bug on my part however I am unable to play the new control mode in anything other than private matches. All of the maps are good except for the Santa Sena Border Crossing map which is just a large lane filled with cars which makes movement clunky and if you use a grenade launcher, rpg, or grenade spam with restock, you can just throw grenades/other explosives and get tons of kills, other than that all of the maps are pretty good. The game does seem to be punishing aggressive players for some reason.

Gunsmith & Weapon Progression: Weapon progression is SOOOOO dumb, to unlock the Minibak you have to get your account to level 23 to unlock the Kastov 762 (AK47), get the Kastov 762 to level 12 which unlocks the Kastov 545, get the Kastov 545 to level 13 to unlock the Kastov-74U to level 15 which unlocks the Vaznev-9K to level 14 which unlocks the Minibak! The weapon progression is **** unlocking guns take forever along with attachments. Tuning is fun and adds a new level of customization to your gun. Only other thing I will say is that it kinda seems like attachments just make your guns worse.

Co-Op: Co-Op is laughable, less so than MW2019 but still terrible. At launch there were only 3 missions! 2 new missions were added as of 11/16/22 but only 3 missions! I honestly belived that Co-Op/spec ops were just going to be cut entirely because of how bad it was in mw2019. There was and still is no survival mode which is odd but kinda expected after seeing how little content there is in Co-Op.

Other Issues: The UI is terrible and reminds me of Hulu for some reason, it is VERY clunky trying to navigate the menus. This is just a rumor but there might be skill-based damage as players are experiencing that their bullets will deal more damage after a long streak of losses and/or deaths and vice versa. Skill-based matchmaking is terrible and seems to put you in lobbies that are in your previous matches k/d instead of lifetime/last 10 games. Example: You get a 1.3 k/d in a match, next match you get put up against a bunch of people who also got 1.3 k/ds last matches aka people who are absolute DEMONS at this game, then you get a 0.7 k/d and get put up against a bunch of other people who also got a 0.7 k/d last match aka people who are either really bad or really new. This just keeps repeating itself and leaves you in a constant loop of pain and happiness. Crashing in this game is INCREDIBLY common. I don't think I've had a single game that didn't have bugs/glitches. When I was playing the campaign, my game kept crashing during a specific moment in the mission Violence and Timing, when I looked up the error code that had appeared, it told me to uninstall the game and then reinstall it. After doing so (which took several hours) I tried the mission again and it didn't work. I was eventually able to fix it but crashes and glitches in this game are so rampant that it is almost unforgivable. They also locked 2 guns behind a paywall in the battle pass which means that it is pay to win and one of the guns that were locked behind the battle pass is the only sniper that can one shot to the head in warzone (all other snipers only break 3 armor plates).

    TL:DR

Campaign - Gameplay good, story bad

    Multi - Lack of content

    Gunsmith - Good

    Co-Op - Lack of content

Other issues: **** Activision and their pay to win ****

The biggest weakness of this version of Call of Duty can definitely be its story. The story had an interesting beginning, but then the story begins to decline with a significant trend and there are only one or two more times that the story of the game can attract you.

    + Smooth gunplay
+ Continues right where the MW reboot left off

    - User interface is a mess
    - Drip-feeding of maps took far too long

Let's be honest, there's really no bigger title to compete in the FPS genre at the moment, both in terms of the sometimes mediocre content and this year's very polished graphics. [Issue#324]

A somewhat droll campaign will greet players of Modern Warfare II. It's a short bombastic romp with some fun gunplay moments and fantastic graphics. The multiplayer, however, is a miss as it is no longer a properly combined entity and the lack of replayability is disappointing. A recommendation for CoD fans but for anyone even slightly on the fence perhaps keep shopping or waiting for a sale.

CoD MW 2 is a refreshing single-player experience, providing players with some of the best action-packed moments and great characters, but riddled with multiplayer balancing issues and extreme performance and technical problems. It still is CoD and is fun for anyone who finds its casual shooting gameplay compelling, but it plays safely and doesn’t present itself as something revolutionary for the franchise.
