After Thymesia and Steelrising I would say that all in all Asterigos is the best soulslike of the last months. Intense boss fights, huge still tree and clever level/stage/map design. I miss more differentiated weapons and armor/rings to find. 8,5/10.

Not since dragon age Inquisition have I seen this level of player choice and most importantly lasting hardcekt consequences es. It's amazing when a fictional setting achieves the feeling of responsive and alive. Before deciding if this game is right for you I recommend reading critic reviews and not user reviews, save for this one of course! ;) if you're still on the fence after checking a critic review or two, then definitely look for let's play YouTube video or streams from your fave streamers, that's what I would do had I not already pre-ordered the game and devoured a healthy amount of 24+ hours all achieved during Asterigos's early access period. It's a well made game that is addictive and hard to put down once one engages in its full game play loop. Expand

He is a player that I have been waiting for a long time and I play with pleasure, but I was disappointed that the graphic was much lower than it was first shown. Apart from that, as far as I played, there is no variety of weapons and armor, which breaks the desire to play a little. However, the gameplay is based on souls like, but it's not exactly that kind of game. Great game! A bit of Zelda, a bit of "Souls" (but not as hard), very big, with a beautiful soundtrack.

Not everything is perfect (I.E. backtravel stinks and there's a lot of it until you unlock teleport. No access to storage and stardust sites. Getting back to restock is item dependant until teleport). But what's here is absolutely astounding for the price tag. A stellar debut with intriguing story, beautiful visual style and satisfying action RPG combat systems.

A solid soulslike, with some cool ideas in the combat. Despite a few technical flaws and some less-than-original takes, Asterigos is still worth your time. [Issue#21, p.89]

The developers take a brutal and punishing game of survival and spin into an epic journey. Hilda won’t become a beaten and battered casualty of a brutal combat system, but rather a heroic figure that brings hope to a bleak land and its people, with personal stories that have a variety of endings for the Aphesians in this fully fleshed out world. A strong combat system that doesn’t punish players too harshly makes Asterigos: Curse of the Stars refreshing and approachable. Levelling too much can make bosses easy, and locations for quest items can be obtuse, but the game never feels unfair or unbalanced making Aphes a world worth exploring for the rich adventure that it tells.
