Male Eivor is a joke of a character, a clown that act not like a Viking but...female Eivor was really insane; you will say "it's the same character only female", nope guys.
The dub and the acting change it all, if you want a strong character trust me, choose female Eivor.
The other characters are...nothing of memorable honestly.
The dream parts are so bad done...it was a way to compete with Santa Monica's GOW but so much worse.
Overall a good game but not worth so much money, if you want to purchase it maybe with discounts

The first hours are very good but after that you will repeat the same actions for tens of hours.
Monotonous gameplay, trivial plot and silly equipment, don't buy this game if you played a previous chapter, this is the same game with a different setting.

Todella laaja maailma, pitkälle kehitettävä hahmo ja tarvikkeet, paljon tehtäviä. Tarina vähän hukkuu tehtävien määrän alle. Hitaasti etenevä peli, sopii hyvin ihmisille joilla on paljon aikaa. Maailma on yksityiskohtainen, mutta saisi olla hieman henkäsalpaavampiakin paikkoja, sillä pelissä on paljon saman tyylisiä vuoria ja laaksoja pitkälti koko ympäristö.

First of all the bugs, in the opening scene a pig was hanging mid air for nothing. I don’t expect bugs starting the game.
Secondly I cringe seeing the climbing/parkour mechanics. The climbing in previous games was realistic, being able to climb mountains without anchor points annoys the gamer in me. Unity parkour was unrefined but great. They could have made a serious development on it.
In addition the combat gameplay, is not bad but they could’ve taken a serious hint from Sekiro or Ghost of Tsushima in their approach, button mashing is obsolete. Finally the A.I, instead of increasing the counts of npc, they could have seriously focused on their lay out in respective sets and give them core strenghts so the player have an element of fast thinking.

In conclusion it looks like an unrefined gem. I will not be returning to the series soon, but I hope Ubisoft will read what we share and think. And maybe try to make and even more immersive game. Looking at how the industry is evolving game have become an experience, here I felt like I was just playing a game no different that what I feel in excitement while playing tetris.

I had a great time playing this game, but there are far to many missions in the main story that could be cut out in order to make the game a good overall experience. The combat system was very fun, but I found myself fatigued by the large amount of mainline missions that added very little to the game.

It's the best out of the "RPG trilogy" by far. The graphics of this game are breathtaking, the world (not the open world) they have built is interesting and beautiful. The combat system is a mixed bag for me, the story is pretty bad, and the pacing is very bad. The open world isn't as bad as odyssey and origins but it's not good either. Also there is a general feeling of bugginess to the game.

This game has been amazing the detail, story line and graphics. It lacks in NPC behavior but one aspect that bothers me considerably is the amount of in game moments where they insert homosexuality. Once maybe twice okay but countless times they put you in situations where homosexuality would be a norm obviously they're not going for any kind of historical accuracy. They insert homosexuality situations where they would not fit or absolutely makes no sense here is a brief description on Vikings view and beliefs in regards to homosexuality

Homosexuality was not regarded by the Viking peoples as being evil, perverted, innately against the laws of nature or any of the other baggage about the concept that Christian belief has provided Western culture. Rather, it was felt that a man who subjected himself to another in sexual affairs would do the same in other areas, being a follower rather than a leader, and allowing others to do his thinking or fighting for him. Thus, homosexual sex was not what was condemned, but rather the failure to stand for one's self and make one's own decisions, to fight one's own fights, which went directly against the Nordic ethic of self-reliance. (Sørenson 20). Being used homosexually by another man was equated with cowardice because of the custom of sexual aggression against vanquished foes. This practice is documented in Sturlunga saga, most notably in Guðmundar saga dýra where Guðmundr takes captive a man and his wife, and plans for both the woman and the man to be raped as a means of sexual humiliation (Ok var þat við orð at leggja Þórunni í rekkju hjá einhverjum gárungi, en gera þat vi Björn prest, at þat þaelig;tti eigi minni svívirðing.) (Sørenson 82, 111; Sturlunga saga, I, 201). In addition to rape, defeated enemies were frequently castrated, again testified to in several places by Sturlunga saga. Grágás records that a klámhogg or "shame-stroke" on the buttocks was, along with castration, a "major wound" (hin meiri sár), ranked with wounds that penetrated the brain, abdomen, or marrow: the klámhogg was thus equated with castration as "unmanning" the victim, and classed with wounds that cause major penetrations of the body, strongly suggesting that the term refers to rape or forced anal sex such as was inflicted on a defeated combatant (Sørenson 68). It is not known how widespread the practice of raping defeated foes actually was, or if it existed before the advent of Christianity, but in other cultures which have had as strong an ethic of masculine aggression as existed among the Vikings, the rape of defeated foemen was obligatory. The attitude that homosexual usage of an enemy was a means of humiliation in turn would have weighed heavily against men in homosexual relationships: if it was a shameful humiliation of an enemy, performing intercourse with a beloved friend would have been regarded as a the worst sort of betrayal or lack of loyalty (Sørenson 28). Since all the references in literature and especially insults indicate that to be sansorðinn, ragr, níðingr or to be accused of ergi is to be a man who is the passive recipient of anal sex, we do not know if the Vikings regarded oral sex between men unfavorably or not (or, in fact, how they regarded oral sex in general, no matter who, male or female, was doing it, or to whom, male or female, it was being done). It is interesting to note that the Vikings considered that old age caused a man to become argr. A well-known proverb stated svá ergisk hverr sem eldisk, "everyone gets argr as he gets older." This possibly could point to an increasing acceptance of homosexuality after a man had raised a family and grew older (Sørenson 20), although a man such as the chieftain Snorri goði who fathered 22 children, the last at the age of 77 (just before he died), certainly proves that a man never was really too old to father children! (Jochens 81). For a man who could not have children (whether due to impotence, sterility, age, etc.) homosexual relations may have been acceptable. One slang term for such a man seems to have been kottrinn inn blauði, or "soft cat" as reported in Stúfs þaacute;ttr, an epilogue to Laxdæla saga, in a conversation between the Norwegian king Haraldr harðráði and Stúfr, the son of Þórðr kottr (Þórðr the Cat): puzzled by the unusual nickname, Haraldr asks Stúfr whether his father Þórðr was kottrinn inn hvati eða inn blauði, "the hard or the soft cat." Stúfr declines to answer despite the implied insult, but the king admits that his question was foolish because "the person who is soft (blauðr) could not be a father" (Jochens 76).

The map is also vast with tons of areas with beautiful scenery to explore.

The story, however, is incredibly long and stretched way further than it needs to be. Several arcs feel incredibly repititive in story structure and poor pacing affects different storylines in the game. The actual characters are not super interesting despite some solid voice acting. The best being Eivor who still feels a bit bland but still badass. but the side characters fall flat more often than are actually interesting. The game also feels very shallow the further you get into it with side quests that get less and less interesting over the course of the game.

It's kinda hard to write a mixed review on a game that you played for 130+ hours.
Probably it's the biggest time spent by me on single player game. For a single run, for sure.
And yet, if I had to describe AC Valhalla in one word, it would be - "mediocre". Even the best of the missions can be called quite good at most, the rest are rather average or completely boring and repetitive.

And yet, if I had to describe AC Valhalla in one word, it would be - "mediocre".

Even the best of the missions can be called quite good at most, the rest are rather average or completely boring and repetitive.
Unfortunately, there wasn't a single moment in the game that could be called awesome or masterpiece.

Even the final twist wasn't a twist at all, since we were spoiled a lot in Eivor/Odin memories and just waited when it happens in main quest already.

However, here we will have one ending, and then another, and then another and another. It’s hard to even say how many "final quests" the developers have included in this game. Probably it suits to the size of the game itself.

In addition, even for "Ragnarok" we have a fantasy version scene and the same scene in a sci-fi futuristic style, close to the first games in the series.
So we spend all those dozens of hours traveling through 9 worlds, with all their magic, creatures, potions, spells, Scandinavian lore and close to 0 scientific explanations of all what's happening. The game says that this, although not completely accurate, but still the memories of Odin.
But then the game shows Aesir is much closer to Isu in terms of technology, costumes, culture etc.
For me, this is sincerely incomprehensible.

Yeah, yeah. Perhaps this is explained in more detail in comics, books, etc.
But if you not able to properly connect the fantasy and scientific parts of the story in 100+ hours of gameplay, where did you even get the idea that I'd have any interest to know about it from your cross-selling products?

The trend began with the Odyssey I suppose, where Isu stopped looks like people of the future with flying cars, skyscrapers, urban cities, etc. and rather turned into ancient gods with shiny sword, shields, spears and so on. The same thing happened with Valhalla.
By the way, with such a scale of the game, writers could tell at least a little whether all the Isu were a single people or they also had some kind of "nationality" with their differences in culture, technology and mentality.

England is a separate disappointment. Despite the scale of the map, all locations feel very same. Yes, some places are greener, others are greyer, some are more foggy, others are more snowy.
But overall, you feel like you're traveling around several of the same places in circles, but spending a huge amount of time moving from one to another that looks quite like the previous one.

In addition, fast travel implementation in the AC maybe the worst comparing to any other open world game.
If in most games, after icon discovery, you can travel to fires, camps, cities, often even to mini-quests and all sorts of similar icons, there are just towers, the opening of which is itself tedious.
It feels like the game wants you to spend even more time on it, even despite the insanely huge amount that it already requires to complete it.

However, I continued to play the game until I finished it, why?

I think the best comparison I can make is the experience of playing some kind of MMORPG or any other multiplayer game when you just spend some evening nights on something basic and familiar while waiting for the release of a new cool AAA game like God of War or Spider-Man.

Funny, but AC Valhalla it's some kind of single player analogue of multiplayer gaming for people who don't like multiplayer that much. Just a time killer.

this is a big step backwards from Oddessy and Origins. The stealth has even less of a emphasis now and its never really explained to you again that you should be stealth through the cities you find. they assume you have played the last two.
even on the harder difficulty i never had a need to use stealth at all for any part of the game, so the game becomes extremely shallow very quickly.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.

Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the best entry in the series yet? Some would be tempted to say so. While the map size might overwhelm some players, it remains an easy game to mainline with the right navigation mode turned on. In fact, the quick load times help to make this an even easier task than in previous generations. This is an iteration of Assassin’s Creed that has a bit of everything from the previous games, as refined as we have seen to date.
