    • Customize your mech with a wide range of parts and weapons, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.

    • There is a compelling story that explores the consequences of humanity’s greed and ambition for a mysterious substance called Coral.

    • Graphics are stunningly detailed and varied with environments, such as urban ruins, desert wastelands, snowy mountains, and space stations.

    • Impressive visual effects, such as explosions, fire, smoke, sparks, and debris.

    • Sound design is immersive and atmospheric, featuring cool sound effects, such as gunfire, missiles, engines, and metal clashing.

    • Soundtrack is composed by Kota Hoshino, who has worked on previous Armored Core games as well as other FromSoftware titles which is fitting and dynamic, matching the mood and intensity of the game’s scenes.

    Cons.

    • The gameplay can be challenging and frustrating at times, especially for beginners or casual players as the game requires the player to master their mech’s mobility and weaponry to overcome the enemy forces.

    • The game’s difficulty can also vary depending on the mission and the enemy type.

    • Some missions and bosses can be too easy or too hard for the player’s skill level or preference.

    • Customization system can also be overwhelming and confusing for some players.

    • Game has a lot of options and parameters to choose from, which can make it hard to find the optimal combination for each situation.

    • Story can also be hard to follow or understand for some players as a lot of lore and terminology that are not explained well or at all in the games multiple endings that depend on the player’s choices and actions, which can make it hard to get the full picture of the story.

Without Googling good luck- the bosses in the game will be extremely tough if you're just trying to figure it out on your own!

Once I started Googling builds this game became much more manageable although still not a cakewalk. I would almost say that there is a bit of a balance issue related to the builds.

This is a fun game but not a masterpiece like Elden Ring, Sekiro, or Bloodborne. Not much level variety and not a ton of story just good gameplay!

I did find my interest dropping off about 15 hours into the game after I started Googling builds. That's not uncommon, however, even with good games.

Been addicted to it since I bought the game, combat and customization mechanics are great but the balancing of weapon power could have been better. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is my first Mecha game. I still don't understand the mechanics very well. I've had a lot of reading about the different parts and how they're useful in battle. For a beginner like me I'm just going with the flow. I really love this kind of theme and this kind of environment in general. I'm a fan of cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic, futuristic stuff. I think the difficulty of the game is just right. I can see how some people could get bored or kind of angry with this game. I spent 5 hours on a boss or so (not the helicopter), doing the two-phase guided missiles and a fire sword or whatever, it was hard for me. It's just perfect for me, the music, the combat. I just think it's a bit confusing when you don't want to go that deep into information while you're playing, like you're not studying for a maths exam or something. And it's fine when you have to go deep into a game. For me, it's a solid 9. I'm just talking about one game, no comparisons, I think accessibility is good enough, sorry if you think otherwise, I don't know every option for every disability.

Just finished this game, part way through NG+ already. When I first hit the credits I was wondering if I truly enjoyed the game or not and once I hit NG+ I realized I definitely did. There's so much more to see on your second playthrough.

    Pros:
Good graphics, not maximum fidelity but it runs well and the game's world is realized. Some levels are much nicer than others. Set pieces are impressive and unique. The way the mech animates and reacts to combat is probably the best part.

Gameplay is fast and fluid. Action is crisp, weapons do what you expect them to do and there is a lot of creativity in building your mech. Two players can enjoy the game in entirely different ways. Once you have a handle on the controls you can blitz through levels and the game is incredibly satisfying. Multiplayer is bare bones but I'm just glad there is a place to test your AC against a human opponent.

Story is good, it's not incredibly deep but it does hit the right beats. Characters are about as engaging and interesting as they can be when the plot is relayed entirely through voice dialogue and text boxes. The plot is memorable and in NG+ you'll be able to steer it in different directions and see the other sides of certain characters. It is well done.

Atmosphere and music are top notch. The game has a cold and stoic presentation. It's the kind of game where you are doing really terrible things and your handler just says "It's a job." It doesn't delve past the surface level on this subject matter which is probably intentional so they can tell a heroic plot, but the world and the rivalry between pilots is both bleak and satisfying. The chapter 1 boss has the main standout track of the game. Really feels like a turning point in the game both visually and musically. I love replaying that fight.

    Cons:
Visuals can get a bit busy sometimes and that makes it hard to see incoming attacks.

Framerate can dip in a few areas, I wouldn't say it was gameplay impacting as most fights did run at 60 or near 60, but you will notice it on PS5.

I honestly find the game a bit too easy, fodder enemies don't provide much challenge and a well built AC will let you burst the bosses down with some decent timing windows.

All in all I think this game will be divisive for a lot of people. If you came here expecting a genre defining masterpiece you technically may have gotten one but not in the ways that people expect From Software to pull off. However it's one of the best softcore mech action games I've ever played.

There will be inevitable comparisons to Fromsoft's latest output and that's unavoidable but I won't bother talking about that here. I will say that those games clearly influenced this one in ways that will be good or bad depending on your personal taste.

To hell with this game. Balance is way off. The games want you to do very specific things to beat it. Not fun. I don’t mind hard games, but they must be balanced. The gameplay is superb, changing your mech on different boss fights, and the choice of equipment is massive. It does take a large difficulty curve fairly quickly at the first boss fight though so be prepared to be changing your mech up often to suit yours AND the bosses playstyle.

Graphics are great, stunning backdrops, great photo opportunities.

Controls are a little poor, took sometime to get used to. Auto lock having to be pressed at the start of every battle was annoying.

Not a soulslike so you can jump in without worry of losing everything at death. My biggest issue was having to play it 3 times to get the true ending that makes it a bit more impactful to the story, this should have been the first ending.

Overall, if you're a fan of large mechs or Gundam, you'll have a blast with this, even if you play without taking notice to the story.

    P.S no poison swamps.

This is my first game of the series and I'm very much enjoying it. It's fast, engaging and pretty difficult. It forces you to think about how to approach each mission and build a mech accordingly. They also do a good job to make it less overwhelming than past entries, giving you access to parts little by little, which is pretty nice. My only complain, which is a small one, is that, you beat every opponent in the arena, you're rank 1, and you think you're good at the game, but turns out, rank #1 is not nearly as tough as the latter bosses, not even close, which the game does NOT prepare you for. So it is a struggle, a nice struggle, but the game could've done a better job preparing you for that. Expand

Sadly, it's a little beyond simple versatility. I feel like the graphics could have been a little better, but it is a fast-paced console game (designed for). Also sadly, with that pacing you miss out a lot with how nice the scenery really is. So. for me, the game sits comfortably just in the green area. It has no real design flaws (or glitches), other than my personal peeves that the mech doesn't turn or strafe like a mech should, and that you can't just figure out ways to win with your own personal playstyle like older AC games. You are mostly confined to how the developers wanted you to play, rather than figuring your own ways to win. Which to me, is neither great nor horrible. It just isn't what I was hoping for. Expectations won't ruin this game for me, however. Expand

I went in not expecting much or not knowing exactly what to expect and easily got my $60s worth. even if I didn't pay attention to the story on my NG playthrough. Tons of customization which is very fun and intuitive, nice enemy and boss variety, and challenging but not BS - although some fights... looking at you NG Balteaus... 10/10 awesome game in my opinion, and worth picking up if you're looking for something new.

I feel like it needs to be mentioned, it is easy to fall into a "meta" PVE build which essentially makes the game mind-numbingly easy. This in my opinion is NOT a game flaw, this is a personal choice. Use weapons and core builds that you like or think look cool, try out different builds, and try to optimize. If you put the time in to analyze your opponent and build a mech suited for destroying it, you will have fun. Save double shotty and songbirds for at least the 3rd attempt on a difficult boss lol.

The game offers a great variety of tools with which you can customise your mechs. This provides a rediculous ammount of replayability. The characters make the story, because they all have their own motivations, ambitions and goals. Another highlight of the game is the stellar soundtrack. (Listen to Rusted Pride)

Where the game falls flat however, is the difficulty or to put it another way, the constant lack of any. The game becomes far too easy after you've got your perfect build. From there on you start playing the game on autopilot and barely pay attention to the combat around you.

This however, does not take away from the fun of the game. It's still fun to build and rebuild you mech over and over again just to see how they'll fair in a mission. Combine that with a stellar gameplay, soundtrack, a compelling story, well written characters and you've got yourself another From software W.

As a fan of Armoured Core for 20 years, I was very nervous going in on what to expect with AC6, but I'm glad to say that for me, it seems FromSoft has nailed the landing.

Piloting your custom Mech feels great, often being a good mix of heavy, bulky weight being blasted forward by boosters that let you get plenty of time airborne. It's perhaps not as precise as some previous entries, but a certain looseness of the controls and a much more forgiving energy bar keep it feeling easy to get your Mech doing what you want it to be doing.

The other principle element in this game, its garage, is also great. While bladed weapons are now restricted back to one arm (RIP blades only lobbies.) and there are no radiators or side shoulder parts, there are plenty of different builds and setups to run with, and it's also a lot clearer what everything does with little demonstration clips for weapons and a testing bay that takes only a couple of seconds to boot up and see if your new AC works as intended. The emblem and decal tools are also complete at launch (no dlc/bp packs needed.) and better than ever, and after a bit of mucking around, I already have plans to stamp my very detailed Anime Wifu of choice onto the side of my AC.

Now, one element that has changed is a number of the game's boss fights. Fights between AC's still play out in just the way the other titles have and it's splendid, and there are a couple of missions that feel like the Arms forts or giant MT's of old. But there are a number of bosses that show a far stronger Soul's influence in how they play. The first boss, the Armoured Helicopter took 4–5 attempts for me to get the hang off, and was a good refresher to me on the importance of getting gud at laser blades in an AC game. The next few bosses, too, often took a couple of attempts but were good at reminding and testing me on central game mechanics and in the end did feel fair.

This all came to a halt tho with a main mid-game boss, that certainly felt much more difficult than others as it left me feeling like I had to 'get a good run' over, having an AC build or tactics that would let me overcome it constantly. Still, in the end I overcame it, and the many attempts to beat it were mitigated by a very forgiving checkpoint system. That let me quickly try something new after every fail. The new impassable borders to levels might also seem a bit strange to old AC players, but saying good by to mission fails for 'leaving combat area, is wonderful.

Finally, on the story, it's a strong setting and does offer some fun twists at the end, and tho I found the game's characters delightful with their cliché, old school, animesk dialogue. It's certainly one of the weaker elements of the series.

So in conclusion, this game is not for everyone. Indeed, it seems to take a twisted pride that most people will bounce off it, and I'd even argue might not be the best intro for many to the world of Armoured Core. But for me after so long, it was wonderful to hear the words 'welcome back raven.'

Too bad that the first new AC out of FROM in many years has to be so overwhelmingly mediocre. Dull visuals, weak sound design/mix, lifeless world, and too many tired tropes to list. The best bits (AC customization and tuning) are watered down and rendered mostly superfluous (beyond a few basic archetypes) due to the strange and unnecessary injection of "Baby's First Souls Game" mechanics, brain-dead AI, and zero exploration. It's less of an update and more of a step back in time for the series. Ugh. What a shame.

Yeah, Git Gud has its merits in these games, to players who want a challenge and exercise resolve. Nonetheless I don't like how that translated to this game. The engineering of these Mechs based on the mission at hand has been the biggest draw for all the Armored Core games I've played before. In AC6, most bosses are high adrenaline high tension in-your-face DPS contests, where reflexes and rage win the tough boss battles, limiting the emphasis on strategy. Lots of builds can win, as long as you stun and overpower each opponent. What's missing? Extensive strategic options, being able to use terrain, stealth, sniping, other ways of thinking through a boss battle or making full use of the potential merits of different builds. instead it's DPS, mashing your R1/R2/L1/L2 as fast as you can and figuring out how to engage the camera so it doesn't work against you. With very few exceptions. Lost opportunity IMO.

Also, I've got to feel for people who heard that comment somewhere this is "Armored Core and not Dark Souls", bought the game on that premise, then realized they wasted 70 bucks because they can't make it out of the prologue, when they have absolute crap for equipment, or couldn't make it past the first chapter end boss. Souls on steroids at the very start.

I don't use easy mode, but there are players who would need this if their reflexes or vision aren't what they used to be, or have some other disability to deal with. Don't put it out there as a mech building game then throw an angry overpowering helicopter you can only beat via rage attack just to get through the prologue. Then again, if From were to provide fair warning, they wouldn't sell as many games.

And for those who think an 'easy' mode lessens their achievement for beating the game, git gud at self esteem from something else besides video games. Git gud at life. I say this after reading a few of the angry "10"s tossed out on this thread to counteract the "0" scores. Some people have jobs, some people get old. You will too.

All that said and pretentious fans aside, I actually enjoyed this game more than not. Story was good for an Armored Core game, there are some weapons that are generally fun to use, and once you a couple chapters into the game some of the banter during battle is genuinely fun to listen to, particularly from 2 or 3 NPC's who never fail to entertain.

It does take NG+ and NG++ to get the whole story, but once you get a couple chapters in, get the hang of it as you improve your skills, and get decent equipment this game really does take off.

I'd give it a 7 or 8 based on my experience, but for the way From blindsided some people who unsuspectingly bought this game, and how I felt about the prologue boss, I'm giving it a 5.

    Combat:
I love the combat of AC6, the speed, the verticality, the large and I mean LARGE variety of weaponry, the vast customisation of your AC unit is mind boggling. I started off going with the linear rifle and blade combo with missiles galore but over time and feeling what play style I wanted I ended going for a shotgun with the pile bunker for that massive damage. I've spoken with friends who have the game and everyone is running a different AC build and I have had so much fun comparing AC's showing strength and figuring out other fun builds like weapon bay builds.

    Conclusion:
this game has blown me away with everything it offers and I cant wait to play through it again getting the other endings and eventually platinum the game as well.
This is a game that should not be looked over.

this game would be so much better if it wasn't so difficult. The training mission has a boss which is impossible to defeat unless you look at videos on youtube. then it gets harder. the next boss shoots lasers at you and kills you with two shots, but of course i only have 2 half-heals and no continues.

Just not for me I guess, some interesting ideas but very over complicated with upgrades and weapons.
The sale of of overweight items at the start of the game seams daft.
Dull missions with a few minor enemies and then a crazy difficult boss which you have to figure out and chance tactics and then eventually look on you tube for the actual way to defeat just because you want to get on.
I work and don't have time to spent 3 hours on a minor boss, but was happy to do this with Sekiro and blood borne the game just felt a but flat to me.
Graphics is great and it looks stunning as you would expect from a from soft title.

It's an insane game, with many things going on around you, explosions, lasers, tons of enemies, fire from boosters, and mechs flying around. Visually very good, much better than Elden Ring. There is some lore, but I was more focused on blowing things up and fighting with bosses. Mechanics are very good, but I didn't like fights with other ACs, those tough ones, because the amount of spinning the camera around to find your opponent is crazy.

Replayability is also very good because every playthrough up to 3 times will reward you with different missions and endings. Also, you can replay any mission you want so there is a lot of fun with trying your new mech with the boss that you defeated in the past. If you like there is also pretty good PvP, I think it's much more fair than in souls games.

At the beginning, the game is quite overwhelming because of multiple stats, learning mechanics, etc. And the bosses you encounter at the beginning are in my opinion the hardest ones in the whole game, especially you don't have at this point too many weapons and armors to play with.

Definitely, the game is worth playing if you like challenges! 9/10, because I'm reasonable, most games don't deserve 10/10. It has some flaws.

Story wise, it has a style similar to Dark Souls/Elden Ring. That being you get minimal plot through dialogue and cutscenes and you have to put together information you gather from collectibles or item descriptions. That and exploring the game's different endings. With that said, people probably don't play a mech game for an immersive story but to shoot and blow things up in a giant robot suit of death.
Contrary to other FromSoftware games difficulty is not a main focus and many of the game's challenges can be trivialised with the right build.
Speaking of builds, it's incredible how many options there are. Part of this game's appeal is experimenting with parts to build the right mech for the situation (or just what's more fun to you). I've spent as much time building mechs as playing with them. For example, I made an AC for my brother that can fly and hover infinitely, consistently raining down bullets and rockets. I named it Topler (cause it's always on top).
And the gameplay is great. There's not much to say other than it being extremely fun and very empowering. Seeing the result of your build is a unique feeling that you can't get from other games.
What this game does better than any other FromSoft game is the PvP. Going against other builds never gets old, considering the gameplay aspect of AC vs AC combat. Playing against friends and organizing mini tournaments is one of the best gaming experiences out there. I've seen some complaints about the graphics, but they've never been the studio's focus. Personally, I'd rather have a fun game that plays well than an overpriced movie. Even so, I think they game looks good.

The combat gets boring because difficulty spikes and most of the weapons are useless against bosses and other ACs.

The customization isn't that great either. There's no transmog between all the types of armor. There aren't that many leg types to chose from. The stats are convulted even if you read what they are. The bosses also ruin experiment.

Unfortunately Sony will not let you refund this game even if you play it for 5 minutes so wait for sale as the game isn't very long and requires you to beat the game 3 times to get the final ending so you'll have to repeat some missions over again.

I beat the game 3 times since I was stuck with it and don't recommend this game on PS5 because of their refund policy.

moment to moment combat is so good, it basically makes up for any problems with the difficulty spikes and a bit barebones story

honestly the only thing lacking is content, wish I could fight more bosses since combat feels so good

Not my favorite FromSoft game but it’s is still pretty good. I’m someone who cares a lot (not to say exclusively) of gameplay and this one is just a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Super fun high paced game, movement and controls feels fantastic. The customization is unreal, can almost build whatever you want. It's amazing what a studio can do when they aren't focused on greed.

This game is amazing, the most fun I had playing a game in a long time. The gamesplay is spot on, and feels great. Has really good graphics and the level design is great. Also they don't charge you for anything, like blizzard and ubisoft games do. You get all the skins and decals, and can even download custom made ones. Can't say enough good things about this game.

PS5 experience, in progress at end of chapter 3 as of latest edit.

-1.0 for poor camera angles during boss fights
    -0.5 for some poor hitboxes
-0.5 for poor difficulty scaling and pacing

The graphics, gameplay, performance, and overall experience is very enjoyable with a few exceptions. The story has just enough of a direction yet mystery to it to build some intrigue, and I like the futuristic sci-fi almost noire-like story.

The camera angles in FromSoftware games are notorious for being bad during boss fights especially against larger or highly mobile enemies, and this game is no exception. There are enough instances of the camera practically burrowing into your AC's butt during critical moments that it gets a full -1.0 point deduction, but that's just one of my personal pet peeves.

Sometimes hitboxes are questionable, but this is typically limited to a few instances like an enemy performing a melee attack. This is somewhat tied to the bad camera angles issue.

The difficulty scaling and pacing is not newcomer friendly at all. The most obnoxious part about it is the tutorial boss, chapter 1 boss, and perhaps some others. The difficulty goes from a 2/10 to 10/10 difficulty without much in-between, and even the "tutorial" boss is placed before unlocking actual gameplay instructional trainings. It just seems like a dumb choice that can unnecessarily alienate some players.

If you are interested in this game, then either buy it from a platform that offers refunds or buy it on sale in case it isn't for you. However, most people will like it if they can accept some challenging bosses.

This is by far the best mech game ever developed. The content is just full of ton of quality gameplay with no bloat or boring segments. This is my personal GOAT, a true gem for gaming.

It’s not a game that expects you to pilot an AC perfectly from the get go. Like with all worthwhile things in life, becoming a great AC pilot takes time. But once you get there it’s some of the most fun one can have in a video game.

Like many others I found myself stuck in one of the first bosses, but by paying attention to what the game was telling me, and taking the time to learn the different mechanics I found unparalleled joy once I overcame these hurdles. And I was able to get through this learning curve simply because the game is that fun to play.

At the end of the day you have to be fundamentally interested in sci-fi and futuristic settings for this game to reach you. But if you meet only that one pre-requisite you’ll really be grateful that you gave this game a try!

What makes this a great game is its excellent gameplay. It is polished, smooth, satisfying.

The combat is fast, and as someone new to the mecha genre, it definitely took me a bit of practice to nail the 3D mechanics. Once I did, I didn't find this game particularly difficult overall. A couple of bosses are notably harder than the rest of the game, and that encourages the player to

I personally found some of the missions repetitive, and didn't feel particularly encouraged to explore the areas and hunt for items. However, the stunning aesthetics and many memorable visual moments across the game make up for that.

    Solid and very fun PvP.

No other developer could have made a game like this and we've never had a Mecha game with such production values and ambition. On a desolate and hazardous planet known as Rubicon 3, you'll find yourself engaging in manic battles that test your skills and determination as a pilot. The level of customization allowed is insane and will make you obsessed towards your mech just like anime protagonists are in countless Mecha anime. The atmosphere and aesthetic of this title is also on point. A dark sci-fi, brutalist military universe which is severely lacking in humanity and is ruled by cold, faceless corporations and various factions with their own agendas. The emotionally-charged story here is surprisingly well-executed and will leave you awestruck during key moments. You'll know what I mean once you witness them... buddy. The final aspect that I wish to highlight is the MUSIC. Oh God the MUSIC in this game will get your blood pumping and set your soul on fire. Its soundtrack is an achievement and is right up there with the likes of Final Fantasy VII and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

This is a Mecha anime fan's dream come true! A hardcore game for hardcore gamers. An Armored Core game for Armored Core aficionados. Thank you FROM SOFTWARE.

This is the best mech game I have ever played.
Game play is very smooth, and there is a huge variety of combination of equipments,
I spent a quit lot of time in editing my mech and creating paints.
And the battle system is absolutely amazing.

Graphics look last gen, controls are terrible and boss battles are near impossible! This is fun? Not sure what kinda gamer finds this enjoyable, but this is a joke! Armored Core 6 is a nice diversion from the Souls games for From Games. The return to modular mechs allows players to experiment with wildly different builds. Sadly, the game feels very unbalanced. It throws very hard bosses at you when you're unprepared and underpowered, while not challenging you enough when you finally reach enough freedom to build an AC to suit your style.

From’s mech series is purring better than ever, offering you a path to finesse like little else, though some parts here could still use a tune-up. [Issue#32, p.76]
