Yes, White Day is an older game, but as far as the horror genre goes, and how it's evolved into something I place little value in, that’s actually a benefit. Given how few people have even known what this game is to date, the extra exposure that it will get from a re-release will mean that, hopefully, a new legion of fans will discover it, because it does deserve that. It’s a masterpiece in building tension and in the way that it plays within the classical approach to horror, without relying on jump scares and endless bloodshed.

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is still a game I’d strongly encourage for anyone who enjoys a good survival horror game, and misses the days when horror was about disempowering players and using that to inspire terror. It’s still one of the scariest games on PS4. I just wish it had been able to fully capitalise on its setup – the way I’m told the original game did – to deliver a truly terrifying game from start to finish.

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is a good remake of a decent survival horror. The game structure is quite affected by the consequences of aging. Some terrible game design choices are very easy to spot and weigh heavily on the enjoyment of the game. The aficionados will love it despite its flaws, while the younger generation might not be convinced by such an old school game.

White Day has some good scares and decent puzzles that you have to play hide-and-seek to reach, but it doesn't quite live up to its legends. In 2001, it was probably one of the scariest games in existence, and you can't fault it for not matching modern horror heights, but in any era the backtracking and waiting for the janitor to pass over and over isn't the greatest gameplay experience. Still, this will do the job if you can't wait til Halloween for a six- to eight-hour ride.

It has some flaws that can suck the fun out of it, but White Day should still be of interest to horror fans looking for something substantial.

White Day has plenty of problems though it’s easy to see why some may see it as a cult hit and why its creators wanted a revival. It’s a clunky, vague, and often frustrating game yet, at the same time, there’s this great setting and some clever puzzles at work. It’s just a shame that, in order to get to the good stuff, you’re almost guaranteed to face some hardship.

The amount of details in the school is amazing, for those who know Korean culture they will be stunned by such realism. Game has very interesting puzzle to solve and it can be very scary when you are followed by the guard. Sound design is sort of minimalist but still emphasis perfectly the atmosphere, also the game has such a unique environment i don't recall any horror game played in a school or so. In my opinion, by far one the best survival horror game on console with Outlast and Visages. Expand

I'd recommend this to all horror fans.

It was later ported toThe console versions are a port of a mobile version that came out on android. Yes, this was originally a mobile game. It was later ported to iOS. And 2 years later it was ported to the PS4 and PC.

Anyway, the developers of the console and PC versions did a sloppy job adapting the game for those platforms. Its an unpolished mess of a game.

For starters, the AI (artificial intelligence) that controls the janitors is really bad on consoles. It's practically broken.

Unlike happens on the mobile version, on consoles the Janitors are so incredibly stupid that they will often get stuck on a door or even on a wall.

Now those bugs and glitches might sound like they're a good thing to happen, right? Since they may allow the player to explore the area without having to worry about those baddies. But not so fast. Because the lousy AI that controls the janitors can (and will) also work against you.

For instance, even if you're being careful to remain undetected. And walk around in a crouching position. The AI from the game will often send the janitors to your precise location for no good reason at all. Leaving you to worder what in the world did you do wrong.

You could be literally standing inside a room doing nothing. Just quietly reading a file that you just found. And suddenly the door slams open and a janitor (who came from a different floor from the one you're currently on) will start chasing you. Why? Who knows! LOL You didn't do a damn thing to trigger the janitor. BUT that's how the lousy AI for those enemies rolls on consoles.

None of that happens on the mobile version, BTW. On that version, the janitors will only ever respond to your actions if you give them a very good and logical reason to do so.

Niw, another thing that the developers failed to adapt properly was the detection boxes of the items that you can pick up or interact with.

On mobile devices, you work with a touch screen. So its easy to navigate the cursor towards a small circle that represents a detection box on a specific object to interact with it.

But on consoles, you would think that the developers would've increased the size of the detection boxes so that they now cover the entire object that you want to interact with. But nope. The devs decided not to adapt that system to consoles properly. And left it as it worked on the mobiles version. Which is bad. Really bad.

Because let's say that you have to pick up a large object like the audio speakers that are inside the dance room. It isn't enough to have to drag the cursor to where the speaker is to lift it up. No. In order to actually pick it up, you need to keep dragging that cursor so that its fully inside a small circle that appears over the speaker. That small circle represents the detection box that said object is equipped with. Which is a problem during that specific scenario. Because it happens during a boss fight. And you have to be extremely quick to pick up 2 speakers and position them in their designated spots. And let me tell you, trying to move an almost invisible cursor the size of a grain of sand to position itself inside a small circle the size of a golf ball is frustrating as hell! LOL

Anyway, the console versions lack polish. None of the new content (costumes or new character) makes up for the fact that it wasn't properly adapted to the PS4, Switch or PC.

I suggest that you get the game on mobile. And play it there for the best experience.

Anyone would punch that old man in the ass and then tie him up and lock him in a room, instead of running around like a **** **** Did the producers think an old man with a baseball bat running after you would cause us fear? **** this ****y game. The environment is also horrible and repetitive, does not give you any desire to explore it, but the game still forces you to do to find itens.

The game does not give any fear, but rather prefers to scare the player with ghost popping up randonly on the screen. I get really pissed when this happens, the third time this happened I deleted this game.
