A great game with many ways to complete a story mission.( stealth, rampage, mechanically). Much better than the previous game. Amazing hacks and a very fun game. Based in San Fran and oakland.

Big improvement from the 1st. if I could give a full score it'd be a 8.4/10. Does just about everything better from the first and the world is more full and pretty. Personally the stealth is a lot better in this game than the 1st. Graphics are good, cast of characters are a little corny but good and fun, While I think Aiden Pierce was a badass Marcus is definitely more fun and loving. Story was good but it didn't really seem to have a goal for a good portion of the game. Multiplayer is really fun and especially with a friend or group of friends. Highly recommend. Expand

I skipped WD1 but I really enjoyed every moment of this one. The story and characters are about what I expected. Pros and cons below.

+ The main and side missions were longer than I expected and there's online stuff that I haven't gotten around to yet. + Graphics, sound, and environment are excellent. Exactly what you would expect from a AAA console title. + I generally dislike games

+ I generally dislike games with puzzles but these were well-done. They didn't feel like a chore at all.
+ Different play styles are viable. I had a blast hacking my way through everything but shooting and stealth are definitely doable too.

    - Money doesn't do anything except buy weapons and cosmetics but the weapons you pick up off dead enemies are generally good enough.
    - Hacking and tech makes it too easy but then again you don't have to play that way

gameplay: the story missions are very good but just at the first half of the game bevause you can do the missions by a lot of ways but when yuu reach the half of the game the gameplay is so repetitive and boring sometimes because you know how to it.

graphics: the graphics of this game are good but not the best graphics.

bugs: of course we are talking about a ubisoft game so... this time this game doesn´t has a lot of bugs compared to the wd1 but the bugs that this game has are insignificant because the bugs on this game are only textures bugs, invicible walls, etc. but the bigs on this game doesn´t get to the point to restart the game or the level that you are playing.

online: this game has one of the worst servers ever made, really. you can take like 20min and theres no matchmaking or if you have been invaded by another player the connection fails and you cant conclude the game invation.

conclusion: if you like a great story this game is NOT for you.
if you like doing the missions by your way this game is for you.
if you liked the first wd story this game is not for you.
if you hated the first wd this game maybe be for you. (it depends)

Is not a bad game but also a game, even so this game was able to create a good open world with many chances of hacking, without a doubt this second game of the franchise knew to do what the first could not.

Other than main story nothing great in side missions to get hooked on but that doesn't hinder your progress in Main story. Characters needed more development and their motivation to get through tough situations. Marcus seemed too capable for a normal hacker but that's how these games are. There should have been heavier punishment for confronting with enemies.

Overall its a fun ride with hard mode and use of nice tools in kitty to use stealth for better experience.

Played Watch Dogs 1. I liked it, but it was too boring. I thought this game is gonna be better - and I were right.
New style, some improvements in game play, new UI and other updates. Game is not too big and not too big, it's medium. I really enjoyed all missions, but they're short. Very short.

Nice game, I grinded out the Platinum trophy out of it. It wasn't too difficult, not even long to do it.
The story was real fun, and the easter eggs made me laugh so many times.
Like in the Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer part was disgusting, maybe because it was a year after the release. I waited so much time to join sessions, spent much time grinding out the online trophies

I couldn't leave out the vehicle controls... that is the most awful part of the game. Ubisoft should get the example of GTA, since they got the open-world do-everything idea out of that series.

In terms of genre, WD 1 seemed more like a third-person shooter with hacking tricks but Watch Dogs 2 is more like a real stealth and hacking game where the levels can be seen as puzzles. That's why the game is not for everyone and that's why also some persons who enjoyed WD1 didn't like Watch Dogs 2.

In fact, in order to enjoy this game, you have to play it stealthy. You can have access to different guns but I found the most of them completely useless. I tried to go gun-blazing but the experience was too frustrating.

There is a general consensus that the story is weak and I completely agree (otherwise, I would have a 9 rating for this game). It's not that the story is really weak but it's more that there is not really a coherent story. This game is more structured in different missions who all have their unique setting and story. However, I found most of the characters funny.

To conclude, I would add also that you can choose your own soundtrack which I appreciated. I would recommend their electronic soundtrack. Watch Dogs 2 is a modern open-world game with fun missions. I give it 8,4/10

With the exception of the very short prequel mission (is that the preorder bonus?), the game starts very slow. This is intentional as it wants to introduce you to side quests and chores (like SF Driver which is similar to being an Uber/Lyft driver in game). This made me put the game down after months at this point. However, if you are willing to sit through the first 4-5 hours or so, then things get quite interesting.

Most side quests are fun and the story actually is cohesive although early on it seems random. Main story line is a delight. The game play is well polished (minus a few minor hiccups here and there) but some of the decisions made are either handicapping the game or leaving you feeling not right. I would have liked to see Marcus make more money early on to allow purchasing expensive cars midway through the game instead of end game as I would have liked to spend more time driving the Lambo equivalent car a lot more. The downloadable performance car was the one I drove the entire time as the other cars were not affordable. Both the Lambo and the Ferrari (they have different names but you can tell which one is which :) are too expensive to unlock and by the time you do, there is just not much left to do in the game. Driving those cars is actually a lot of fun.

My main complaint, which leaves me baffled, is seeing Marcus use lethal force. It simply doesn't make sense for his character and this hacker collective. However, if you don't use lethal force, NPCs that were stunned wake up in couple of minutes way sooner than you can accomplish your mission. Also each time you spend significant time using your jumper from afar to complete your mission - which is the best way to complete these missions nonlethally - a random NPC suddenly spawns next to Marcus getting him detected and starting a gun fight. Gun play is very good and fun but it just doesn't fit the story at all where the hacker collective is the savior of the people while using lethal force on people doing their jobs...

Every aspect of W_D2 is just fresh, the amazing San Fran setting, the music, the characters, the fun, quirky story - everything feels like it was made with care and joy. Watch Dogs 2 is a game that suffers from the bad reputation of the first game. However, I must say that the game was a very pleasant surprise, because I did not notice almost any bugs and glitches during my walktrough.

Yes, as in every game, AI has its flies, if I tried hard, I would find imperfections in textures.

But what I didn't like about the game was the very bad driving model. It was really, really too arcade. I give a point down for that.

The game offers so many possibilities of progress that you will not use all of them during one walktrough.

As for the story, it seemed a bit chaotic to me and it took me a while to get my bearings. The main villain Dušan Němec looks insignificant. It often seemed to me during the game that the creators put too much humor on the dialogues. As a result, some dialogues are simply embarrassing. But everyone has a different kind of taste in humor, so if someone laughed, I don't mind.

So, in addition to the already mentioned driving model, the game took all the good from the first part and further improved it (for example, the possibility of piloting a drone or a jumper). In the end, I rate a decent score of 8/10, because I really enjoyed the game and in the future I will definitely return to it, at least for a while.

Watch Dogs 2 is much better than the first game. It features a bright, colorful open-world, a fun cast of characters, a solid lead in Markus, a good story and fun gameplay. Characters and dialogues make me cringe most of the time and graphics are nothing to write home about. Ubisoft finally got rid of the damn towers in the game, but the gameplay is still somewhat repetitive after just a few hours.

Surprisingly for an Ubisoft game, it is not chock full of repetitive busywork, and the developers did a good job of making the side missions fun and varied, at least from a story perspective. That said I did have a couple of gripes.

Man, the security guards, are nuts! There are no warnings stand in the wrong place, even if you're not doing anything wrong and they will blast you in the face with a shotgun. You also feel a little underpowered compared to the first game. Getting away from the police is much harder and if you get a chopper on your tail good luck!

*Note I turned off the multiplayer because being invaded when you're just trying to get from one end of the city to the other and being forced to play a game of hide and seek is never, ever fun.

    +Self-aware script and dialogue
+Grounded enough to be speculative satire.
+Unconventional characters not typically used by most developers.

    Downgrades from Watch_Dogs 1 (that I noticed)
-Explosions are basically immediate kills to yourself whereas in the original it causes a staggering animation. (This may make multiplayer less fun unless this only applies to Single-player)
-Animations are pretty much downgraded from the first game, mobility doesn't seem as realistic in the sequel.
-Much more convoluted controls, harder to focus on certain aspects as you gain new abilities. (Such as Equipping tools and accessing NPC's profiles.)

Overall, this might just be one of the best open-world sandbox games out there, depending on what you're looking for. To get the most out of it, you should be prepared to explore and do the side-quests, otherwise you're looking at a pretty short game.

As someone who lived in the Bay Area most of my life Ubisoft did an amazing job highlighting the key parts of the various cities. I felt like I was running and driving around home! On my laptop it ran pretty smoothly most of the time with hiccups in FPS here or there that minorly hampered the experience. At one point it glitched out during the mission complete cut scene and made me repeat a pretty long mission which was annoying. Mission types are pretty much rinse and repeat the same few types of mission and aren't nearly as creative at GTA 5. However, the characters were very likable and 100X better than Aiden Pearce. As a group they seemed like a real-world group of friends. The story was nothing to write home about. The villain was like a watered down Bond Villain in that he's intelligent, capable and taken seriously from start to finish rather than being made a full of like in some games. However, overall the game doesn't take itself too seriously with a lot of light hearted humor. Top to bottom this is an average-good game. Fun to knock out over a weekend and never touch again. Games have to be fun and this in the main is mostly. you can dip in and out of online games and there is enough there to pick up for 5 minutes or for an hour.

Using the radio controlled toys are good too.

Downside is that police do get aggravated too easily which is a bug bear when they ram you too much despite turning them inside out they will always be there in a chase, i generally give up now rather than go through the laborious process of the chase.

Also the missions are a little easy and you don't really have to use hacks, but for more enjoyment try and avoid reverting to guns.

I was expecting a bit more mini-games on the hacking side.

You CAN play the game in lethal mod, but its honestly way too easy when I tried it. If i did, I think I'd have a different take on it. As far as I can see, there's no real consequences from playing stealth vs non-stealth. I'm not entirely finished the game as I am trying to go through all the sidequests, but the more I play it, the more I become bored, but at the same time the more I want to explore.

    Things I love:
    - The premise and setting of the game. It's very much targeted towards up and coming tech, like being able to 3D print weapons, having control of a drone and RC jumper in missions which is so cool to use. The city is beautiful and feels so alive.

    - The availability of weapons and ways to play through the missions. It IS in fact possible to do the majority of missions with out even stepping into the danger zone and you have a huge arsenal at your disposal.

    - The references in the plot to our tech culture and pop culture references, like taking revenge on WD2 version of Martin Shrikelli, Silicon Valley references, and so on.

    - Its harder. They've centralized hacking to be more puzzle like, and then made the puzzles are harder. Collecting and finding things are harder. It's actually a challenge, whereas in WD1 its "go rambo mode, press a button here, complete mission." I think the game is only a challenge if you go stealth.

    Things I dont love:

    - Some of the side-mission plots, or hell even some of the main plots don't make a whole lot of sense. Some mission are really fun and run parallel to our world (like say, having a Scientology-like church exist) and are really satisfying to do, but others are questionable and its like "why is this hacker group doing this again?"

    - There are STILL "go to this point here, collect this thing" kind of stuff. No more of Ubisofts "do this to reveal section of the map" but ugh. Some of it is hidden as well, where you have to take a picture of the landmark. In some ways its cool as in "oh hey cool look at this SF landmark they put into the game" but when you're in a car chase or you accidentally drive by it, now its like "ugh I have to find a way back here somehow to collect this thingy".

    Bit of Both:
    - No consequences from playing stealth vs non-stealth. No changes in plot, no changes in XP ("followers") amount. You can play either or style. In some ways this is good because it really gives you the freedom to really do whatever you want. But considering how freaking overpowered you get, non-stealth would be super easy mode.

    - Most of the missions are all essentially the same. Get into building - hack the things - get out. It gets extremely repetitive. Main mission and side missions are all the same thing.

So, I DID get it during amazons E3 sale, so I didn't buy it at full price. While I didn't regret my purchase, I would probably be more upset if this had costed me more.

Another issue is the driving, its far too forgiving, you can crash a motorbike into a truck on the highwayIt's good but its no GTA. I quite like the story so far and the main characters seem well written at this point. The missions seem to be the problem, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of depth. Even the missions that have a bit of puzzle solving to them are kind of easy and repetitive. In some cases it seems like a telltale games type story where you just have to press a button and watch the cut scene. It seems to be lacking a sense that the gamer is capable of performing complex tasks and it takes that away from you by getting you to press triangle and the system performs the action.

There is plenty of novelty value in the game and the knight rider inspired mission was a really good set piece if a little uncomplicated. San Francisco looks great and its fun to explore, you do get a sense of scale without it taking ages to get from A-to-B. The police seem a bit oblivious, I saw a guy was being pulled over on his bike, I took the bike and no one chased me even though there were about 3 or 4 police cars around.

There is one final thing that bugs me, the cars you steal disappear! I parked up went in a went through a cut scene came back out and the car was gone. This has happened many times and is really annoying when you have to spend the next couple of minutes trying to hijack another vehicle.

As its early in the game there is a chance the missions will get more difficult but I'm not sure. Overall I like the game but if I didn't have it I'd certainly wait till it comes down in the sales. I have a feeling it might fall in price quickly.

Amazing open world, great mission design, in depth characters and most importantly FUN. Watch dogs 2 is everything the 1st (which i didn't like) should have been. Simply put game of the year.

Entertaining game overall had some good fun with it! The world is a little boring and repetitive after awhile though and I wish there was more customisation to the cars like they did with the clothes. The game does have some cool missions and characters and the invasion multiplayer mode can be a ton of fun. Overall I would recommend this game if you wanted something kind of similar to gtav with its own twist. Just don't expect it to be as polished and exhilarating as GTAV was the first time you played it. Expand

Sim, o jogo evoluiu. Mas só isso, mesmo, só isso. O jogo continua limitado e feio. Sua movimentação é estranha e as leis da física são completamente refutadas pela Ubisoft. Marcus is an interesting and fun to use character, the overall game is good and I adore the gameplay, but the replay value is non-existing and the DLC’ were boring. But I can still recommend it.

When you play it for the first time, The whole experience may feel like an upgrade from GTAV but everything will change after playing half way through the game you will realize this isn't vast at all in fact it is small and limited you will realize this from how not good the physics is, The vehicles available in the world it is actually very limited, And the world is not as dynamic as it seems. After couple of hours, It is not a GTA5 experience, its an RPG with an attempt to be an open world game. If you are looking for an RPG with a little twist of GTA5, then this is your game. But if you are expecting new GTA5 experience, this is not it. Going to the most i hate, The radio track is so bad and dumb. very lazy attempt. What i do like about the game is RPG side, The hacker feel is very immersive and surprisingly its not at all repetitive.

I liked WD2 way more than the first one. The concept of a hacker group felt right in the sunny world of San Fransico. The missions were fun but sometimes repetitive. Huge negative point were the driving mechanics. It was so bad yet a crucial part of the gameplay. The story was a little thin and characters needed a bit more background but after all a nice experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played it for the story which was pretty decent. The characters were move alive than Aiden Pierce from the first game but I just found them annoying, except Ray he was pretty decent. Driving was fun but very sluggish, GTA 5 feels more refined in that aspect. Sneaking and gunfights is where I hated this game, it seems like with or without Autoaim i could not get this down, it really failed, again GTA 5 was much more refined in the way it performed combat. Soundtrack was killer and was the different types of hacks you could do. I loved controlling cars to create chaos. All in all it was worth a play and an easy platinum. Expand

Quite okay but I don't like the "fresh and colorful" new look. I wish they kept the dark tone of the first game.

Despite a few flaws, Watch Dogs 2 delivers where the original game failed. The game has improved on every aspect and provides a vibrant city with lots of hacking fun. The story is dull without any special moments but the immersive open world with lots of quests will keep you entertained.

Watch Dogs 2 brilliantly solves the main issue the first game had while providing a world full of enjoyable missions. We faced some problems with the camera, especially during the car race. We also faced some issues with connectivity and online play. In the end, Watch Dogs 2 is a game that delivers in most aspects and provides hours of enjoyable content.

Despite the MP issues, Watch Dogs 2 hacks this series back on track with its gorgeous locales, and silly emergent fun. Marcus isn’t *quite* our cup of tea, but he sure beats the hell out of the last guy. [January 2016, p71]
