This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game's mechanics are okay but it suffers from a sense of lost identity. The cutscenes push you in the direction of being an SJW approved hero. You play as Marcus, a geeky black male from Oakland (this last detail added to make your character streetwise and therefore not too disconnected from being black by being a nerd). The players are afforded a great deal of agency in that Marcus can be dressed in a variety of manners (biker leather jacket, Wallstreet suits, urban/ghetto/hip-hop styles, etc); the players are also able to customize Marcus' skillset to their liking with regard to approaching missions (dubbed trickster, aggressor, and ghost). The agency is fairly nice. The issue is that the plot of the game pits you and your SJW approved diverse group of hacker friends against The Man. In the world of the game, The Man is represented by predatory and invasive corporations and organizations including the FBI. However, there's narrative whiplash as Marcus is righteously indignant at the victimization of the masses in a cutscene and then you're able to immediately steal a nearby car, pull money out of a passerby's bank account, and gun down police officers, civilians, or rival gang members. The results of the evil organizations' machinations are shown but there are seemingly no consequences for Marcus' crimes. Please note one of the themes of the game is that the ends do not justify the means. Marcus does some illegal and unsavory things but his is justified apparently.

Furthermore, the game forces you to work alongside a transvestite guy calling himself Miranda (who is shown in an unwaveringly positive light) and another optional mission where you drive a gay guy to meet his husband as they're having a baby. Games like Mass Effect and Dragon's Age allow you to decide how much or even if you're going to engage certain other characters whereas Watchdogs 2 forces it on you despite the previously mentioned agency given to the player.

It's unfortunate because it ultimately amounted to the developer cramming their opinions and politics down your throat.

Watch Dogs 2’s distinctive hacking and puzzle mechanics do a great job of reminding you that you’re not playing just another Grand Theft Auto clone as you tear through its beautiful Bay Area map. Marcus is a bit too friendly of a guy to be believable as our instrument of mayhem, but the flexible missions let you get through mostly non-violently if you’re good enough at stealth. Graphics is really not bad, there is not a bad soundtrack. But the gameplay remained the same, same boring and monotonous. As usual in a game from Ubisoft only 1 element is executed top-level - a graphic environment, virtual San Francisco is beautiful. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is the best game of 2016, I am not a fan of the first but this one I love. I like the story, the graphics and general realism is some of the best I have ever seen. One thing I do not like is Horatio, I feel like there's no interaction between him and the player and so his death scene was sad not because I liked him but because his potential was wasted. Sorry if this is a bit short but since I love this game I do not have a bit of critic for it except that. Expand

With the exception of the very short prequel mission (is that the preorder bonus?), the game starts very slow. This is intentional as it wants to introduce you to side quests and chores (like SF Driver which is similar to being an Uber/Lyft driver in game). This made me put the game down after months at this point. However, if you are willing to sit through the first 4-5 hours or so, then things get quite interesting.

Most side quests are fun and the story actually is cohesive although early on it seems random. Main story line is a delight. The game play is well polished (minus a few minor hiccups here and there) but some of the decisions made are either handicapping the game or leaving you feeling not right. I would have liked to see Marcus make more money early on to allow purchasing expensive cars midway through the game instead of end game as I would have liked to spend more time driving the Lambo equivalent car a lot more. The downloadable performance car was the one I drove the entire time as the other cars were not affordable. Both the Lambo and the Ferrari (they have different names but you can tell which one is which :) are too expensive to unlock and by the time you do, there is just not much left to do in the game. Driving those cars is actually a lot of fun.

My main complaint, which leaves me baffled, is seeing Marcus use lethal force. It simply doesn't make sense for his character and this hacker collective. However, if you don't use lethal force, NPCs that were stunned wake up in couple of minutes way sooner than you can accomplish your mission. Also each time you spend significant time using your jumper from afar to complete your mission - which is the best way to complete these missions nonlethally - a random NPC suddenly spawns next to Marcus getting him detected and starting a gun fight. Gun play is very good and fun but it just doesn't fit the story at all where the hacker collective is the savior of the people while using lethal force on people doing their jobs...

You know, I'm not the first to say it and I won't be the last, but the first "Watch Dogs" was easily one of the most disappointing games not just of 2014, or the eighth-generation, but possibly ever. With all the hype that Ubisoft placed on the game, and the concept of a game based around hacking even becoming a thing, it was a game that just sounded too damn exciting. So what happened? You know, I'm not the first to say it and I won't be the last, but the first "Watch Dogs" was easily one of the most disappointing games not just of 2014, or the eighth-generation, but possibly ever. With all the hype that Ubisoft placed on the game, and the concept of a game based around hacking even becoming a thing, it was a game that just sounded too damn exciting. So what happened? Well, graphical downgrades, overly-simplistic hacking, bland stealth missions, and dull writing all helped reduce the game to something that was decent, but not as strong as it could've (and should've) been. So, when it comes to "Watch Dogs 2," it's easy to approach the game with an air of cynicism because, ya know, "once bitten, twice shy." However, I walked into this one with an odd sense of optimism. Yes, I was bitten by the first game, but in all fairness, almost everyone I talked to about this game told me that it was pretty damn great. A number of my friends that didn't play the first one really enjoyed it, and even people that DID play the first told me that this one was a massive improvement. And, yeah, truth be told, this game does virtually improve on pretty much everything that the first game did, and it's a far better experience overall.
"Watch Dogs 2" takes every problem that I outlined earlier and fixes them all. For starters, San Francisco is such a beautifully-designed open world that's bustling and always featuring exciting things to do, and it most certainly doesn't feel like this game was downgraded very heavily. The hacking mechanics are also more complex this time around, and instead of simply feeling like you just have to press a button to hack and win things, there is some actual challenge to it this time. On the topic of gameplay, by the way, the driving controls have been fine-tuned quite a bit and the stealth sections are far stronger here, helping to round out the gameplay nicely. The writing is also far stronger: the game takes a more light-hearted approach, which works far better than the first (and reinforces that you don't need to make everything so dark and serious to make it enjoyable), and the characters are far more charming, specifically Marcus, a protagonist who is leaps-and-bounds better than Aiden. So all in all, forget being a polished sequel, "Watch Dogs 2" is basically exactly what the first game should've been.
That's not to say it didn't have a few issues: for example, the game regularly lets you engage in acts of mayhem and violence, and while that should be expected for a game like this, the fact that Marcus is the "nice guy" here just makes things feel just a little inconsistent. On top of that, I have to say that I found the enemy AI to not really be all that smart, regardless of whether you went into missions stealthily or with guns blazing.
Still, minor flaws and all, "Watch Dogs 2" is a massive improvement over the first game, and it's a title I can definitely highly recommend! Even though I'm sure there will be some skepticism walking into it because of the first game being so disappointing, I can safely say that this game makes up for the last one, and is certainly a worthy play.
Final rating: 9 out of 10 "Awesome"

Stealth isn't feasible, with a density of five guards per square ft and being unable to hide bodies, they always go on alert very quickly. Combat isn't feasible: with INSTANT infinite reinforcements, you are always surrounded. What are you left with? Jumping from camera to camera, trying to do as much as possible without physically entering hot zones. May sound interesting, it's just boring.
Exploring the city boils down to finding money and research points, and figuring out how to get to them, since they are almost always on high areas. This usually involves using the RC jumper and possibly external devices such as scissors lifts (investing early into device hacking skills is a good idea, because otherwise you are cut off from most of the goodies). Unfortunately, once again it's really boring.
Driving is another important activity but it never "feels" right, and anyway there's a reason we use steering wheels and not joypads on real cars. For me, this part of the game is just an annoyance.
Coming from the masterpiece that was Assassin's Creed Origins, with its refined combat and stealth mechanics, I can't help but feel that the Watch Dogs IP should be either completely reinvented or simply dropped.

Que este juego sea mejor que el Watch Dogs 1 no significa que sea bueno, y por esa razón todos le han dado notas positivas. It would be foolish to believe Ubisoft after they released the first part of the Watch Dogs.
But with this people bought this game, and I bought it.

Network game, for all the time that I was in the game I never wanted to see
network mode, because it does not bring something new into the game. there you do not have a separate character like in Gta Online,
no vozzhnosti to buy houses, cars. The network mode is predicated to do so-as it looks still raw.
About the plot - it is boring, optit struggle with power, etc. We already saw this in Watch Dogs so I would like to
see another story in this game. What are some of the chips associated with the past character, tasks in Chicago,
    and in other cities.

About the open world - Yes, in this game, a truly open world is very beautiful, in comparison with the first part
it's colorful, not dull as there, yes npc it's desirable to add a little mind so-when you take someone
they do not have to do anything.

The first minus for the boring gameplay
The second minus for the monotony of tasks
The third minus for Network Mode
The fourth minus for Bots in the open world.

Ultimately I felt pretty powerless and found the game repetitive. There's a lot to do in this open world, but there are also a TON of problems - forget about it if you like multiplayer. There's a lot to do in this open world, but there are also a TON of problems - forget about it if you like multiplayer. Online probably functioned less than half of the time and we're sitting at over a year since the game launched. Conversely, there are times where the game kind of forces you into an online server if you happen to walk into an event or are near another player online, which disrupts the single player and makes the game a laggy, choppy mess. In general, movement feels pretty unresponsive and driving is terrible.

The problem with this game is it wants to be a stealth game, and it kind of wants to be a combat game, but it can't figure out which. Completing a mission in complete stealth is, in my opinion, impossible. There are very few ways to neutralize guards without alerting other guards, they will see and destroy your RC vehicles and force you to wait for them to regenerate and once they see you, it's over. They call reinforcements faster than you can possibly imagine and you'll have to rely on the game's heinous combat system to save you. Cover shooting is awful. Enemies never miss and always know where you are. Your weapons are weak and inaccurate against "armored" enemies who can endure 3 shotgun shells to the head. Melee animations take several seconds and almost guarantee to leave you exposed long enough to get killed. THERE ARE NO MID MISSION CHECKPOINTS, so even though you just slogged through that high-pressure, timed puzzle segment in perfect stealth, since a guy noticed your drone on the way out, forty cops descend on you and kill you and send you back to the start. The mechanics also don't square up-your RC car can physically hack computers and consoles, but your drone can't do anything?

In general you have to suspend disbelief and accept the fact that somehow a rando with an iPhone can control a construction crane by "hacking" it. The convoluted story, which investigates a timely government/corporate spying conspiracy, makes no sense. The side missions, if you choose to partake of them, will only add to the confusion by involving irrelevant characters and events which seem related but actually have no bearing. The game will also not warn you if you're about to start a mission without the requisite equipment - at one point I had to hack a router on top of a tower and could only get there with the drone upgrade, but the game never mentions this.

Eventually you realize that every mission follows the same basic formula - go find a guy with a phone or a computer somewhere, hack it to get a clue, then sneak through a security area to find another phone or computer and end the mission. These areas boil down to using your weird x-ray vision and spamming square to cycle through computers and set up traps until you take out enough guards to just sprint through the level and take what you need, lucky to survive the sprint out. "Leveling up" provides very little advantage and very few skills get put to use.

The first few levels are easy enough to make the hacking doable, but soon the security areas become so large and well guarded that it becomes a total crapshoot of setting traps and just hoping like hell no one sees you. The game feels very random and out of control. The story and characters are goofy, unless you're a hacker/computer nerd, and much more juvenile than the first game which used hacking as a device to further a compelling story rather than a story revolving around a ludicrously overpowered, fantastical version of "hacking."

Nice game, I grinded out the Platinum trophy out of it. It wasn't too difficult, not even long to do it.
The story was real fun, and the easter eggs made me laugh so many times.
Like in the Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer part was disgusting, maybe because it was a year after the release. I waited so much time to join sessions, spent much time grinding out the online trophies

I couldn't leave out the vehicle controls... that is the most awful part of the game. Ubisoft should get the example of GTA, since they got the open-world do-everything idea out of that series.

Thanks for my friend for letting me play through it.

The world is beautifully and convincingly rendered, and the stories I have played so far are a highly entertaining look at hacker culture, with a humour that often matches yet differentiates itself from GTA. And the online portions gives a sense of life (more than a year after its release) that really add to the single player experience. Top Notch. I only dock a point because the driving controls lack heft - and while not a pure driving game, a fair amount of driving is nonetheless necessary. Expand

This makes San Francisco feel much more immersive, interesting, and life-like than Chicago. The soundtrack is fantastic, a mixture of various songs from the eighties, nineties, and twenty-first century. The gameplay, especially the stealth and combat are vastly improved. It also introduces more equipment and weapons, to support different gameplay styles. Regardless of whether or not you want to run and gun your way through the level, use stealth to silently complete the objective, or just hack it from the outside without even stepping foot inside the area, WATCH_DOGS 2 supports it all. The melee combat is brutal and visceral. The last game I played that had melee combat as good as this was The Last of Us, and that's saying quite a lot. The story is also incredible, and vastly superior to the original's. It's a bit weak in the narrative department, but otherwise fantastic. The graphics are sub-par, the physics engine could be a bit better, and they removed many good features from the original WATCH_DOGS, but otherwise an incredible game, on many, many levels Expand

Hacking is all the rage for this open world game. You can choose different gadgets to hack NPCs and the environment to your advantage. That's some pretty challenging stuff yet cool at the same time.

Now some less positive points, there's no button for jump nor sprint yet these are basic controls they've omitted. No protection armor as well. Gun selection is very limited. Shooting and driving physics is forgettable like it was for Watchdogs 1. Oh well this is a 3rd person open world hacking game rather than a shooting one. My score for such a niche game: 8.3/10

Watch Dogs 2 is repetitive and boring, but an absolute improvement on the original Watch Dogs. For such a good idea, however, Ubisoft seems to miss what exactly is so great about it. For such a good idea, however, Ubisoft seems to miss what exactly is so great about it. In my opinion what makes the idea of a hacking vigilante appealing is the idea that the player doesn't need guns because the environment is their weapon. Watch Dogs 1 missed the opportunity to do something truly special the moment it decided to include guns, and Watch Dogs 2 is not much better in this regard. The story, on the other hand, is clearly improved from the original. In my opinion, a major positive is the fact that they chose to focus on crafting more lighthearted characters and themes, so they used the cheesy, dialogue to their advantage while crafting the story. The nonlinear missions allow for a more unique approach to the story, yet it negatively effects the pacing, and does not work nearly as well as if they allowed the entire story to be avoidable and blocked the final mission with a skill barrier rather than an arbitrary number of followers. That would have undoubtedly been the optimal way to experience Watch Dogs 2, because every mission in the game is extremely similar to the one before it. Very few use unique mechanics or structure to distinguish themselves, instead they use songs to set a tone. It's an interesting idea because it gives each mission a unique style, but it can't mask how repetitive the format of the mission is. Most of the missions essentially amount to sneaking around an area, pressing a button, and waiting for a progress bar. As a result, the main story got old extremely quickly, and because there was very little structure to the level progression, nothing feels like it's changed from the beginning of the game to the end. Even the final mission hardly changes the formula. It simply puts the player in a different environment that functions and effects the player in exactly the same way as all other environments. It can be fun to arrest the gang members or order a hit on security guards and sneak past while the mayhem is unfolding, however this can be easily exploited to remove every enemy from the mission. As a result, many missions can be cleared with very little challenge. The only other aspect of the game is the overworld, which is in essence there to put to put space in between the missions and pad the game out. There is nothing organic to find in the world, and no purpose to exploring. The only reward for looking through the city is money, which can be obtained from any person walking down the street. I can understand the appeal that this game has, but it has very little of what I look for in an open-world game, so I'm going to give this game a 3 out of 10. Expand

It follows the story of hacker Marcus Holloway and DedSec with returning character exposing corporations and groups for acts against humanity and liberties.

The gameplay is much better as there is way more capabilities that Marcus has to do in this game that makes the experience beautiful. You can plan missions easier and approach things in different ways. Combat is a huge improvement. Gathering altogether, the story stays involved everywhere you go as civilians are way more responsive. Driving system is a major improvement.

I like the vendetta story from the first installment but as this story evolves, it shows a major improvement where most users would enjoy a lot more. The characters are a lot less bland and more fun than the first game. The story is about taking down the man kind of just like Assassins Creed: Syndicate taking down sectors of their power one-by-one before the ultimate demise of the enemy. It is really refreshing and better for the series. The location is amazing with San Francisco, Oakland, Marin Island and Silicon Valley. Just an absolute perfect location for the series' concepts.

Design is undeniably beautiful with outstanding graphics and FPS with minor bugs. I do believe Ubisoft could have taken even more time to improve civilian design and some design aspects releasing this just like the trailer and demo they gave us. Not entirely delivering, but the game itself redeems this aspect.

To summarize, Ubisoft did a really good job on this one and once you get right into the story and ignore the minor bugs, you are in for a ride. This is definitely an improvement from the first installment but I do still believe Ubisoft should take 3 to 4 years to develop the next title as there is definitely an opening for the future. Watch Dogs has a more interesting future due to the greatness and redemption with this installment.

PROS: I bought the first Watch Dogs about 3 months before the release of the second and altogether thought it felt unfinished. I saw how good it looked, and decided to go for it. I was a bit wary about it when I started it. The tutorial was boring, and the characters extremely cheesy, but once you get into the solid gameplay its a fun game. Npc reactions are hilarious (They react to you when you take pictures of them, show your guns, and you can do a number of actions, such as flipping them off, dancing, and even flirting with them, male or female (yikes)) and the environments are (mostly) gorgeous. The map is pretty big and fun to explore.
CONS: The driving takes some getting used to, and I hate the fact that you can only carry two weapons at a time. If your'e looking to cause mass destruction like GTA 5, it is a bit harder to do in this game. Also, there are still no planes or helicopters you can drive around in. I can see how it would make the open world feel shorter, but it still would be nice to have. There are a few more smaller problems I have with the game but all in all its pretty solid. Definitely would recommend to anyone.

The multiplayer thing is a bit weird (I'm too used to the GTA V model) although if you're lucky you might get someone who actually cooperates with the mission. Looking forward the extra content promised by Ubisoft.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of: The tutorial of the game is almost non excistent. they dont show you the basics except for taking cover. FAAAAAAANTASTIC for your everyday hacking skills.

Second: The Free roaming is absolutly one of the most boring things ived ever come across.
the car chases is not thrilling or exciting in any way.

Third( and this might just be me, but): the steering of vehicles are "fat" and "clunky". and when you drive into stuff (on a motorcycle fx.) you dont fall off. not even remotely realistic in any way, what so ever.

Forth: ffs ubisoft, let us skip the **** cut scenes if we want to !!

Fifth: npc's are zombies, no ragdoll physics, and everybody you steal money from have between 40-60 dollars ??? are people in san fransico broke or something?

although the graphics actually do look good, and the whole concept of hacking into the government is great.

but the execussion of the idea, not so much!!

the game deserves a solid 1. not only because its not finished but also because there is no difference from the first game. right now they are just milking the franchise instead of coming out with new and improved game that you should feel excited about.

    Step it up Ubisoft.

Drone and RC mechanics are used well in environmental puzzles but never heavily relied upon. Small details (Such as in the GTA series) are shockingly left out and filled with bizarre Ubisoft touches that don't seem to mesh with the world.

Characters are incredibly caricatured in a "Hack the planet" sort of way and are all incredibly likable. A commentary on Silicone valley, the story presents a highly satirized version of the tech culture in San Francisco but in a brand of Ubisoft humor that has finally found its feet and is far away from the GTA style of satire. Also the game represents the progressive nature of San Francisco at every location that there is NPC's so beware if you are conservative. Although the attacks on the right are surface level and fleshed out into their own stories so divorced from the base attacks later on (See Thruss in the game)

Multiplayer is fun to mess around with, especially during the end game but not fleshed out enough to ensure a rewarding system of play and progression. Season pass and cosmetic packs are unfortunately present.

Level designs are particularly well done with multiple approaches to completing objectives. Enemy AI is more sophisticated in spotting and tracking but suffers the usual Ubisoft enemy fodder when engaged in combat. Marcus's ability to take hits is reduced compared to other Ubisoft titles to try and artificially encourage a non-lethal approach but of course there is a whole upgrade branch dedicated to making him better with guns contradicting this.

Hacking puzzles are easily just moving your drone around and are use only as pacing tools for the flow of the missions. However the missions are incredibly paced and also a ton of fun to replay with new upgrades and different approaches. Environmental puzzles in the open world can be great fun little brain teasers that require scaling buildings, more hacking puzzles, using ramps and motorcycles, crane traversal between buildings but can also be tedious, requiring explosives or you to break the physics with fork and scissor lifts.

Overall a fun time is had in the open world, in missions, hanging out with the characters, exploring the satire hidden among you and petting the dogs around you. One of the best open world games on the current systems it is well worth a look.

I personally don't care about the disconnect b/w the character affect of Marcus and the inevitable violence he has to dish out (at least in my impatient, perennially novice gamer hands :) ) in order to complete missions. I'm flexible and will easily adapt/forgive/dismiss these disparities in order to enjoy all the great stuff this game has to offer. Side missions and races make this game a diverse pleasure, when the main plot is not exactly earth moving. Ubisoft has really mastered this type of open world game, literally cramming the space with living, breathing detail....and it'll be fun watching them and Rockstar trying to 1UP each other in this regard over the years to come (who's looking forward to RDR2, raise your hand! :) ) Expand

Bought 1 month after release so my review ignores the early bugs. Better game than the previous one, you never know when Ubisoft will disappoint you, but I have to admit I'm having a lot of fun with Watch Dogs 2.

Yes, the driving is not Gran Turismo worthy, yes the damage physics are not Wreckfest worthy, yes it may seem a bit cliché to some "real hackers", but I think it is voluntary.

Lots of humour, for once I'm liking the main character and the "crew". If you don't take this game seriously and if you understand this is a satire, you'll have a lot of fun too.
Immerive open world, I literally spent 6 hours playing around with the open world, without even having the jumper and before reaching the HQ
The multiplayer is working well as I'm speaking, even sometimes with no loading screen between solo and multi, which I have to say is really really nice. You can simply carry on driving and press one button to target a player online instead of the current thing you were doing, without changing car, simply amazing.

I see in the negative comments that it had a bad launch, but if people are stupid enough to carry on playing when the game has issues in the first days, that's not my problem. I see that some Trump supporters are spamming the 0/10 because they made fun of their daddy in the game. I even suspect them to be angry because they have to play a black guy meeting a transgenre and surrounded by hipsters. If you're not a total medieval **** you are safe, play that game, it's fun !

I haven't played Watch Dogs before, and minus a couple of inside jokes that flew over my head,(i.e Raymond and Aidan), I felt like this game was very welcoming and good for people unfamiliar to the series. I have already put many hours into this game and I still have plenty of things to mess around with.

The level of detail on this game can not be put into words. Every nook and cranny that I peeked into was detailed and beautiful! The world that Ubisoft has created truly feels alive and is brimming with character. There is a decent amount of content, and the dynamic between the characters is great at every moment.

Now, the game isn't perfect, but i'm still giving it a 10. To start things off, Marcus seems to fit in way too quickly. Day one, he's already everyone's best friend just for completing initiation. But the cheery vibe is nothing to complain about. Another thing that I don't enjoy is the obsession with roofs.I like a puzzle, but having every single mission in the game on a roof is ridiculous (i'm exaggerating). Traffic is a bit annoying as well. Since you can interact with the world via r/c, doing things from your car is very tempting. But if you do it in the middle of the road, pile-ups are bound to occur and a symphony of honking commences.

When it comes to weapons, the game is good and bad. Good in the sense that It has a good selection to choose from and you always have a gun that caters to your play style. Bad in the sense that there are a lot of guns that don't need to be there, like the base semi auto rifle. Why would you use it when you have a DMR, which is more accurate, shoots just as fast, has a scope, and hits harder? Or maybe a fully automatic rifle?

There is a fine selection of vehicles, but maybe not enough supercars or vehicles that go unbelievably fast. The driving physics are amazing. You always feel in control, and pulling the handbrake and powersliding around corners is easy and is the best feeling you can have during your ride. The game is forgiving when it comes to things like hitting pedestrians and other cars. If you hit a parked car with your fender, you will usually just slide around it. Offroading can be a bit frustrating with your car flying around in a bunch of varyingt directions the second you get air. Also, I would rather ride a bent unicycle with no seat in oncoming traffic before I touch a Quad Bike in this game. They are good in straight lines, but long corners and small jumps obliterate any sense of control in that thing.

Stealth in this game is great, but not perfect. When it comes to the bare sneaking around, it's great. There are plenty of angles and ways to get around. Taking people down with a bit of paracord and a cue ball is very satisfying. The Stun gun is god tier and should not be taken lightly. Detection is pretty forgiving and depends on range, so you won't encounter bs like a random guard 100 meters behind you that you couldn't calculate on finding you. Upon getting detected, the game kind of confuses me. If I am driving along in a go kart and ramp into a restricted area by mistake, I shouldn't get a heavy dose of lead and shrapnel from San Francisco's most sketchy security force. And on top of that, they are a bit grenade happy.

Combat is solid, and the aim assist is the best i've ever seem

i accept that Ubisoft wanted to go for a game that you can approach from any angle, but having no penalty from killing people just seems a bit odd. That implies that every single person that follows Dedsec is perfectly fine with mass murderers with fancy smartphones killing everyone in their path just to prove a weak point.

The actual story, I like. I play games not to read into them, but to just enjoy.

Personally, I don't like the multiplayer aspect because it seems like too much of a hassle. The game is well -rounded without people trying to steal my data that I don't care about. Luckily, there was an option to turn it off. Having online missions crowd my other missions is annoying though. I don't like open world multiplayer, at least not in the way anyone has implemented it yet. Especially GTA Online.

Speaking of GTA online, people try to compare WD2 to GTA5 a lot, and with good reason. GTA's world is massive, diverse, lively, and has a lot of character in it. WD2's world is compact, mainly industrial, Very lively, and is detailed to an obsessive degree. In the debate of GTA and WD2, I side with Watch Dogs 2 on every front.

I would recommend this game to everyone who enjoys open world games, stealth, and a good laugh. This is definitely my favorite game on PS4, maybe except for Rainbow Six Siege. When you work hard, don't lie about everything, and apply some degree of polish, you can make some great and unique games Ubisoft!

Also, 5000 character limit hit perfectly

If I had to describe it in one word this game is just "meh" which is disappointing because as a franchise Watch Dogs has a lot of potential. I never played the first game and had no expectations going into this one, but I had imaged a dark cyberpunk style underworld - not the contrived and stereotyped cheese-fest that Ubisoft (inevitably) opted for.

It's the first game that's actually made me consider whether I'm too old for gaming... they are clearly targeting a younger generation with this title so I'm probably not qualified to comment on whether they got the art style right - but judging by the number of complaints and "hipster" labels, Ubisoft are alienating a large chunk of their player base.

It's not a bad game per se, there are a lot of neat ideas though that's all it is - a collection of neat ideas with no real depth. Gameplay wise the missions play out like mini-games, once you figure out that you want to avoid direct combat but the stealth mechanic is broken* the "strategy" becomes very simplistic and repetitive.

    * by broken, I am referring to the fact that once triggered the enemy always know where you are - I guess it's one way to avoid having to implement AI. You can still complete an objective with a full-on assault but it's hit or miss. It feels like guns in general only exist so the game ticks a feature checkbox.

Most zones can be infiltrated entirely with your drones which is fun, they put a lot of emphasis on this tactic - but equally when you start to tire of it, you'll realise it's quicker just to run around using distraction hacks. Be it on a nearby object or the NPCs themselves, you can sprint straight up behind them and melee them which puts them down permanently - what passes for AI is just basic line of sight. It's the first tactic open to you and will probably be how you complete the end game.

The skill-tree is a bit of a gimmick - it's either just another feature checkbox ticked or a kind of extended tutorial to introduce you to the tools gradually - all of which can be unlocked quickly which defeats the point a skill tree. Besides the two drones, I found that I also never really used the majority of the unlocks either. They look good in videos and screenshots but in the heat of the moment they're just not that effective.

The side quests are hardly worth mentioning - in typical Ubisoft fashion there are the generic races and pointless collectibles to pad out the world. Thankfully you can fast-travel everywhere - not only have I stopped bothering with these, as noted by virtually every other review the driving physics are atrocious.

The story? Horribly cliche, boring and forgettable characters. Enough said.

Overall, I'd say this is one of those games to get if you're already bored to start with.

Using the radio controlled toys are good too.

Downside is that police do get aggravated too easily which is a bug bear when they ram you too much despite turning them inside out they will always be there in a chase, i generally give up now rather than go through the laborious process of the chase.

Also the missions are a little easy and you don't really have to use hacks, but for more enjoyment try and avoid reverting to guns.

I was expecting a bit more mini-games on the hacking side.

Avoided this game for fear of extreme views and racial baiting dialogue.
Decided I was being an idiot and had a try.
    Every fear realised.
Nothing changed much from Watchdogs original.
Presumably the gameplay isn't what people hated about the original.
I rather liked Aiden... Not sure I like a single person other than the quiet nerd here.

It is what the first one should have been. Three years ago.

The drone is a nice implementation and the overall game is a much better experience than the first one, but driving is still horrible, radio is irrelevant and changing stations muddles the gameplay as it covers the map (pretty stupid design, imo), guns don't really fit the narrative and online is good, but not too far from what

Characters and dialogues make me cringe most of the time and graphics are nothing to write home about. Ubisoft finally got rid of the damn towers in the game, but the gameplay is still somewhat repetitive after just a few hours.

There is also a lot of loading. They are not long, but they are quite a few. It's an interesting purchase if you enjoy the open world type of gaming like myself, but I wouldn't get it for a full price.

Underwhelming story elements plague the game and are at best mediocre. The ending is bland and nowhere near as heart pounding as in the first installment of the game.

However improved visuals, controls and improved ctos hackability has been added to the game and allows you to be the hacker they meant you to be. The rc jumper and quadcopter are a welcome addition but at the expense of

The rc jumper and quadcopter are a welcome addition but at the expense of getting repetitive as most Ubisoft open world games are trying to collect all the in game items. I'm currently 96% completed all there is to do until the DLC stories come out.

If you enjoyed Watchdogs you will love the sequel.

A great game with many ways to complete a story mission.( stealth, rampage, mechanically). Much better than the previous game. Amazing hacks and a very fun game. Based in San Fran and oakland.

the part i enjoyed the most while playing the game was the escape from Alcatraz (from the 911 side mission)
the prison even had the air vent through which Morris escaped from the Rock IRL, you can enter through the roof, from the water - through a big pipe and i laughed myself silly when i managed to trap the cops inside the cells by hacking the doors:)

I was hoping for good things hoping they would have changed things from first game but it's pretty much the same if not worse things that are in the first game no longer exist enemies are either idiots or really aware and swarm you without warning hacking is basically button pushing with limited options just like the first game characters of plain and boring story is so Unforgettable worldI was hoping for good things hoping they would have changed things from first game but it's pretty much the same if not worse things that are in the first game no longer exist enemies are either idiots or really aware and swarm you without warning hacking is basically button pushing with limited options just like the first game characters of plain and boring story is so Unforgettable world is full of people doing the same thing gunplay is no longer an option thanks too overpowered enemies and weak guns cars are slow and handle like shopping trolleys Ubisoft milking the cow again instead of spending time developing a proper sequel Expand

If you liked the first one, you will most likely like the second. The graphics and physics are cool and there is a lot of features to explore in the game. Although, the game disappoints in the same point of the first: the storyline. I can only play it for 1hr or 1hr and 30min max and I get bored already. It's always the same thing...

defiantly better than the first one. the story falls a little bit short, uninterested and the vibe doesn't feel so movie or something. i like the city and i loved the so many different ways you can approach any mission. from the other hand the missions are repetitive. music, clothing, guns, cars atc. i think are uninspired. not the strong suite of ubisoft. still a good game but nothing more.

Despite a few flaws, Watch Dogs 2 delivers where the original game failed. The game has improved on every aspect and provides a vibrant city with lots of hacking fun. The story is dull without any special moments but the immersive open world with lots of quests will keep you entertained.

Watch Dogs 2 brilliantly solves the main issue the first game had while providing a world full of enjoyable missions. We faced some problems with the camera, especially during the car race. We also faced some issues with connectivity and online play. In the end, Watch Dogs 2 is a game that delivers in most aspects and provides hours of enjoyable content.

Despite the MP issues, Watch Dogs 2 hacks this series back on track with its gorgeous locales, and silly emergent fun. Marcus isn’t *quite* our cup of tea, but he sure beats the hell out of the last guy. [January 2016, p71]
