It's a must buy, and the best ps4 exclusive game to date. That being said, I am disappointed at Naughty Dog for making this game. Naughty Dog is most likely the best developer to date, and they keep pushing the limits with how far video games can go in terms of graphics, story, game play, and how fluid a game feels.

The problem with this game, though, is that Naughty Dog had to climb an uphill battle in order to make it. Nathan's story was finished before Uncharted 4. So creating a story out of an already closed ending was going to be tough feat from the start. And Naughty Dog knew this. That's why they spent so much time trying to create the structure of the story and script. You can easily tell the work they put in the writing. The writing and voice acting is truly fantastic, but I'm disappointed that they chose to use their talents in order to make a game that will have a capped story. The starting formula of the game was too bad for these developers.

Remember when The Last of Us came out? The bareness of it? The intensity? The story? The message? One of the reasons The Last of Us was able to be a great game was because it started from scratch. The developers had the freedom to create a new story with new characters and a fresh start. Uncharted 4 could never have been just as great because the story and plot had to be restricted due to the previous games. The ending of Uncharted 3 showed Nate getting out of the treasure hunting life. Adding Sam, Nate's brother, into the equation was the only way for Nate to get back into the game. It was inevitably forced. That being said, though, the development of Sam through out the game was beautiful. You like him, then you hate him, then you understand him, and then you see the love between him and Nate. I guess I just wished that Naughty Dog would've made a whole new franchise with new characters and a new format. I give it a 9.8 just because I know Naughty Dog can do better.

Still one of the best games I've ever played, and easily game of the year. If you haven't bought it yet, you are missing out. Naughty Dog will be the bridge between movie entertainment and video game entertainment. I thank these game developers for showing true care and passion in their product and their fans.

I have yet to play this games but confident we have another masterpiece here. The franchise is my all time favourite. Now as so many user reviews have given it 0/10 without playing the game as they are xbone fans only, i feel i can also score this game without playing it which I give a 10.

Maybe if a user review had received enough dislikes it could be removed? I know people may say

I know people may say that all the negative scores will end up being removed from sony fans but I would disagree as I believe that the disliking of a user reviews will be more honest about doing so than the haters deliberately give negative reviews for the sake of doing so.

Graphics are among the best on the market right now, very impressive, sadly music is not as memorable as in the previous Uncharted 2 and 3. I recommend this game to be bought brand new. if you have never played a Uncharted game before, the Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection is a must buy for you, if you play Uncharted 4 without knowing the story you probably will get confused and bored pretty quick since this are Story Driven games. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I got this game with my PS4, and it was such a great introduction to the console. The story is amazing with so many journal entries around the game to help you further understand it. There's a great plot twist at the end of chapter 14. I don't think it's worthy of a 10 as I did encounter a few glitches, but they didn't make it unplayable. Far from it actually. The character development is really good and the characters felt like real people from the real world. I did notice that there was an absence of something supernatural like in the other games, but it's excusable. The rest of the game makes up for it. This game did appeal to me because I love grappling in games, from Just Cause to Spiderman, it's awesome. And, what do you know, Uncharted 4 has a grappling hook with excellent control on it. The combat is really good and the guns have a level of recoil that is just right on the guns. Also, I especially like how you can use guns while swinging on a rope. It's so fun to just swing out from a tower or something at spray at some people. The bonuses you get after completing the game are a really cool addition to it as it adds a lot of replay-ability. My personal favourite is the moon gravity one so enemies corpses just float off when you kill them. Now, I need to say something about the multiplayer part of it. A lot of people said that the multiplayer is absolutely awful. While it is nowhere near as good as the story, it's really not as bad as people say. It's a mediocre third person shooter. It's quite fun to play as the different characters from the main game. I have to say though, it's weird to say 5 Sully's on the same team. But anyway, a highly enjoyable game. I recommend getting it. If this is Nathan's final journey then what a way to go out!

This is a great combo of storytelling with gameplay. Cinema and shooting. A game that years later still pops up on "most beautiful games" lists and for good reason. There was a lot of thought and care that went into this and it shows. Nowadays you can get this game at a pretty decent price and I recommend checking it out.

To me, Uncharted 4 is a major disappointment in many ways. First of all, some context is very important for understanding why this game is so different from the previous 3 entries in the series.
It is because Amy Hennig was originally supposed to be the writer/director of the game, but then, in a very dubious turn of events, she left the team, and alot of the work that was done was scrapped, and Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley of "The Last of Us"-fame took over development. It is unknown what exactly happened, but it seems unlikely that she would willingly discard a project she is obviously very invested in. What makes it even more shady, is that there is almost no information to be found on why she left.

It is clear, that we would have gotten a very different game, had she remained at the helm of development. As I already mentioned it is no secret that much of her work was scrapped, when Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley took over. You can go and watch the first teaser trailer (the one that features narration while the camera pans over a map), and you will see that it has nothing to do with the final game.

Alright now let's get to my review of the game we ended up getting: Simply put, it is too much Neil Druckmann, and not enough Amy Hennig. Too much "The Last of Us", and not enough Uncharted. From the bleak titlescreen, to the soundtrack that completely lacks the sense of adventure and excitement the previous games conveyed, everything is just way too drab for an Uncharted game.
But alright, let's look at it for what it claims to be. It doesn't aspire to be as grand and adventurous as the previous games. Instead it attempts to focus more on the characters, especially Nathan Drake himself. There are several problems with that.

*First of all, even as a more character focused experience, the game does not have to be as drab and lifeless as it is. It plainly lacks the energy that the other games have.

*The pacing of the game is absolutely horrendous. I never got bored with the previous Uncharted games, even after several playthroughs. They also had more story focused sequences, particularily Uncharted3 such as playing as kid Nate, or playing Nate as he wanders the desert, looking for water. But these games were made by someone who knew what pacing is. I really don't want to sound too condescending, since I do think "The Last of Us" was an expertly crafted game with great pacing, but what the hell were Neil/Bruce thinking? Uncharted 4 is straight-up boring for about half the freaking playtime. Soo many sequences are extremely tedious on the first playthrough already. And it certainly does not get better on later playthroughs. There are a lot (and I mean a lot) of sequences, that are boring as hell to play and only serve some story related purpose. Again I legitimately enjoyed these parts in the previous games (or the Uncharted trilogy as I like to call it), however here they are unbearably boring. It all harkens back to the atrocious pacing of the game. In previous games you'd have these amazing actionpacked sequences that go on for really long, so by the time the pacing slows down it is very welcome. But in 4 just as you start to get into the flow of things, it stops dead in its tracks and forces you to play some asinine storyfocused bit, where all you do is usually walk around, and also maybe climb a bit if you're lucky. It's bad.

*The shoot-outs are seperated into socalled encounters. Now here's the problem with that: In Uncharted 1-3 enemies would litter the game. There generally aren't many sequences that don't feature enemies. Even as you're just going from A to B, there are usually a couple of enemies in your way. Well say goodbye to that, cause Uncharted 4 wants to make sure you're not having too much fun. So enemies only appear in these kinda big open areas, called encounters. I really don't mind how shootouts play out here, and it's cool that they are a bit less linear, and it allows you to be stealthier than before. But there should also be enemies sprinkled throughout the levels. There are parts where you climb around for really long. and It gets very very boring. fast.

*Last but certainly not least: These are not the characters you've come to love in the trilogy. They are pale imitations at best. It seems like the writers just really don't like Nate. Nate was always a bit full of himself but he was also likable and capable of having a real conversation with his friends. In this game he maintains absolutely nothing except for the "full of himself"-part. Sully and Elena are just extremely bland. The characters you came to love over the last games are not here.

So to summarize, Uncharted 4 is a boring, heartless action adventure game, that should have never been made. It really agitates me to no end, that we never got to see the game that the clearly much more capable (at least in the realm of Uncharted games) Amy Hennig wanted to make, but here we are. Thank you for reading my review :)

One of the worst uncharted games in the series. The gameplay is non existent, jumping from one edge to another gives no challenge what so ever. The gun fights are rare and only get exciting till the end of the game. There is a lot of filler, where you just walk around.

On the good side, the graphics are great! There is alittle of an open world element when you drive the jeep around.

Those are not 4's game issues - its was always like this, right from the start. And fanboys/press always insisted that it's should be considered as good game design. How can these hypocrites give identical scores for uncharted and for the real games like Dark Souls is impossible to comprehend. Guess modern console gamers just want good graphics and story, but everything else can be bad as long as the game is easy and short enough. Uncharted series is a great example of everything that's wrong with modern AAA titles.

Get ready to climb, meet some badguys at a checkpoint, kill the badguys (with an average at best shooting mechanic and a pretty dull arsenal of weapons), look for a place you can climb for 5 minutes, then climb some more. Repeat until game has finished. One of the biggest drawbacks is the lack of innovation. The game is way to similar to its predecessors, and doesn't bring anything new to the table (except for better graphics and a new story).

I must admit I had high expectations, and was disappointed. Barely a 7/10.

There are a lot of people giving a zero score to this game - they should think again. But the thousands of people giving this game a perfect score should also. I just finished this game, and can't say it lives up to the hype.

First - as other reviewers have pointed out - the absence of Amy Hennig, the director of the previous Uncharted games, is thoroughly felt. In the first seven levels of Uncharted 4 the new directors try to give Nathan Drake a personal backgroundstory: his marriage problems, his issues with his brother and his boring 9 to 5 job. But is this really that interesting? Does this really belong in an Uncharted game? I remember Nathan Drake as the carefree adventurer, who doesn't have to worry about his wife or feel guilty about a long lost family member. The new directors make Drake far too serious. This is Uncharted we're talking about, not The Last of Us.

Fortunately, in the eight level the game really kicks in and the old Uncharted vibe starts. For Uncharted veterans, it's probably familiair territory, even so that I couldn't sometimes help but feel "been there, done that". The addition of two new elements - the grapple hook and stealth-mode - isn't probably enough to make veterans of the series feel involved. Besides, there are two games that make use of these elements in a far superior way: the Tomb Raider reboot and Metal Gear Solid respectively.

Furthermore, there is a lot of climbing in this game. A lot more then in the previous games, and maybe even too much. Besides, the climbing isn't that much of a challenge. Falling down almost becomes a challenge in itself.

Last but not least, the characters aren't that interesting. Why bother watching great looking cutscenes when the characters in it aren't engaging? Sam is a pretty shallow guy, and Elena is just the average perfect wife. I always preferred Chloe, she had much more humor, was sensual and had much more personality. Only Sully is still interesting, as is Nathan himself - although he should have more of his trademark ironic oneliners.

All in all: the game looks gorguous and the controls are great. Especially newcomers to the series should buy this game. But in the end, I'm personally kind of relieved this is the last Uncharted game. Unless Amy Hennig comes back, but that's a long shot.

Heck id like to say its only true negative is it ends but even then the ending to this game is hands down the best closure TO ANY series ever. This game is a love letter to gamers and a homage to the entire series while managing to have its own self contained story while managing to wrap up ALL questions the series left open in reguards to Nathan drake . This game will take the average gamer any were from 15 to 20 HOURS to finish, I have platinumed every uncharted and on hard it took me 20 hours and 45 mins to complete . My only real complaint is the lack of single player skins and the fact that there isn't any real epic gunfights up until 5-6 hours into the game , and the few that do exist during the first 10 chapters are pretty infuriating due to the fact the AK 47 is the worst damn gun in any videogame ever, it has the recoil of the Kal 7 from uncharted 3. Another minor nitpick the the removal of three features in uncharted 3, first of the brawling system was improved upon in uncharted 3 by adding in a Push feature , this was removed in favor for buddy finishers which are basically the same as a traditional finisher from 2-3 , the only finisher that was removed from three is the " grenade" finisher which had nate pull an enemies grenade clip and push him away for a explosive kill, and ledge take downs are spiced up by making enemy's who are aware of you counter your move by grabbing Nate as he reaches up prompting a triangle QuickTime event to release , and some enemies who are pulled down stealth fully will cling to nates legs , the air take downs from three are back so over all its absence is nullified by the new features . Gun combat is identical to the other games but feels more lively as recoil is much more pronounced , the major REMOVAL is the ability for Nate to throw grenades back which kind of sucks since it was a great feature . but that sums up all of my complaints =) 9.5/10!

Only critique, can we please stop with these quicktime events, mashing a button to open a door is the most pointless thing in gaming.

What an absolute gem of a game. Naughty Dog never fails to impress. Their last outing was a different genre and it was amaze-balls and this one too following UC series footsteps and striking the right chord.

I wish people would come on here an give honest reviews. I have to say though the people scoring 5's, 6, 7's seem to be very close to my score. I gave Uncharted 4 a 6. Sure the graphics are amazing, the detail in the game is fantastic BUT the game play is horrible. It is INCREDIBLY boring!! As much as I was hoping this game would be the PS4's first true next gen game I can only say graphically it is. The kinematics are way too long, there is just too much climbing and puzzles in this game. Just when it starts to get good with action, BAM!!! You get an hour of climbing.

Lets be serious here. All these 10s are **** If people honestly allow devs to believe that this game is a 10 every other dev will follow suit and I dont want that! Rise of the Tomb Raider is also boring but its got a whole lot more action and things to keep you interested. I keep reading all these 10 rated reviews of people saying the game play is top notch and I am doing my very best to try and understand.

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?????? if climbing and constantly looking for the correct path to go is "top notch" to you then what is a bad game to you??? This game is closest to Uncharted 1 and that game sucked straight butt. I've played them all and Uncharted 2 & 3 are the best ones in the series.
I just want another The Last of Us. IMO that's where Naughty Dogs bread and butter is. Uncharted was never that amazing. Sony fans blew this series up like the 2nd coming of Christ when its not. I wouldn't hesitate once to take a new God of War game over any Uncharted game any day. Now that's a series Sony has that MS nor Nintendo can or will ever touch.

It’s a good game, but not a great game. This game puts quality over quantity and feels like a chore to get through due to its repetitive gameplay.

If you’ve played through other titles in the Uncharted series, you’ll quickly recognize that this game contains more of the same old. The climbing sections do have amazing graphics, but the gameplay just consists of holding the analog stick and pressing the “X” button. All of the climbing is really “on-the-rails”, so to speak. Think Assassin’s Creed, but without free-roaming capabilities.

The combat sections are actually decently done. But, this game is a bit different from its predecessors. Namely, combat sections are typically on a large stage, with perhaps 10-20 enemies at once. You won’t get a climbing section, then a group of two enemies, then another climbing section, if you see what I mean. Consequently, the number of combat sections in this game is extremely low. But, it’s not a bad thing, they’re well-designed such that you can choose how you want to deal with these enemies in many cases, such as shooting your way through or using stealth. Still, such kinds of combat sections are few and far between. In fact, after finishing the game you can choose to replay certain combat sections using a single menu, that’s how few combat sections there actually are. Can you imagine taking all of a game’s combat sections, and being able to list them all into a single menu? That’s barely anything.

Some of the puzzles were fun to get through, but if you’re looking for a game exclusively for its puzzle, I recommend checking out the Professor Layton series instead. If you’ve ever taken a postsecondary course in mathematics, such as in the field of combinatorics, these puzzles feel like playing with building blocks. But, I can respect that they need to cater the game to a wide audience and that not everybody may enjoy solving puzzles as much as I may.

Speaking if its puzzles, this game really enjoys using wooden crates for its puzzles. Perhaps five or six times during the story, you’ll need to find a crate to jump onto an object you can grab. It becomes stale (and embarrassing) very quickly.

Unfortunately, there’s not much else to the game. This game’s physics and level design makes it feel like a spiritual successor to The Last of Us. You should be able to easily tell that the developers were the same.

Don’t get me wrong, if you enjoy Telltale games and series that have a significant quantity of cinematics, such as Yakuza or Metal Gear Solid, you’ll probably like this game for its cinematic storytelling. This game almost feels like a movie, and really does rival with the aforementioned series with its exceptional storytelling capabilities.

If you enjoy watching a half an hour of cutscenes between this game’s “levels”, you’ll probably enjoy it a lot. But, I attest that this significantly diminishes this title’s replayability. I mean, many QTE (quick time event) sequences found in this game are amazing and reach an unprecedented level of technical achievement. Sound and voice acting are definitely on par. But, such events are really only for one-time and you wouldn’t find yourself replaying them due to them simply consisting of a button mash. Thankfully, the game has multiplayer, which is pretty fun for a while.

While I while continually protest that the game is a technical and even an artistic achievement, it doesn’t feel like a fun game to play through. When everything is so standardized, it almost feels like the entire game is, as I mentioned earlier, “on-the-rails”.

Even though the previous titles have many shortcomings with gameplay, I honestly found the original and second entry in this series to be much more fun. I’m not spoiling anything, but like many games nowadays, there aren’t really any bosses. Don’t get me wrong, the fighting scenes in the introduction are fun, but it’s really just bashing a single button and watching your characters miraculously perform some unimaginable punches and kicks from just mashing that one button.

Even with all of the positive points previously mentioned, I still found this game to be a grind. I wanted the climbing sections to be over during certain areas since all I was doing was tapping “X”.

Getting to drive a jeep in the game was fun at first, but once you realize that the exploration available in such levels were very limited, you become disappointed. There are many levels, but the repetitive gameplay really takes a toll on you quickly.

I could really only play this title for a couple of hours at a time. In fact, I often found myself slogging through the gameplay just to see how the story would unfold. But if you like cinematics and a strong narrative (when employed with just the right pinch of suspense of disbelief), you’ll find this game fun for a few hours. Although it has many lengthy levels, its linearity makes it very quick and easy to beat.

First, the story was written by women that writes her own story without pandering some sort of crowd and try to score some diversity points, the story and 8 months of work was thrown to make room for their writer that make plotholes as a trademark of every story he makes, last three chapters felt rushed with main villain's mercenaries that were named not doing anything worthy in the story.
second, the game removed tons of features or more so they didn't know how to bring them back since they base the whole game based on tlou, a game 100% different than the way Uncharted played, removing enemy types and putting the least amount of focus on gun play or fights, most of the story is an unskippable blabber, worst gun fights in the series.
lastly, the multiplayer was rushed and it didn't address past game faults or take into consideration what actual mechanics were important from community perspective, the developers were dragging conversations and making them seem like they improved some modes, plunder, an objective gamemode, was a miss and plays worse than the first or second mp installment, game was released with with 3 modes with nothing that welcomed old players that didn't like the new additions, such as sidekicks, these AI "helpers" took time to make and program, instead of trying to include co-op modes on release like every uncharted mp, they were making AI to ruin player vs. player gameplay, multiplayer was released with less modes than last game, why? they blamed that it is a complete different game on a new console.

I could go on and on but this game is clearly a rushed game by devs trying to complete it for their delayed deadline, they even removed players earningship for a system that barley rewards player with extra stuff for performance during a match, you only get 10 relics and one daily challenge (this is where all your relics are mostly earned from), player choice in buying items with his match earned cash was replaced by relics chest rng system, sure it is no duplicates but the grind is flat out trying to make you buy their fake currency, the stuff are priced way too expensive compared to tlou, weapons in tlou were price individually with a price tag of no more than $0.99, here the weapons are priced +300 coins each (100 coins is a dollar), they went full microtransactions for a game that is not free to play, the base game barely had any content and it still had microtransactions on its items, this game is nothing but a scam on Uncharted fans.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. ONE TRICK PONY

As we've come to expect graphics are incredible. Story is probably the best in the series but the mechanics of this game are now seriously dated. With this new gen ND had a chance to upgrade the traversal and combat and have decided to do nothing but improve animations.

Here's the problem with all of the U games...climbing has NO RISK. No risk equals no reward. No reward EQUALS BOREDOM. This is a cardinal sin of gaming design. You cannot have a mechanic that the player can easily overcome with virtually zero effort.

Every route is telegraphed and often completely linear. Timing is not required, absolutely no skill is required. What should be an incredibly tense "climb" becomes a sightseeing expedition. It's a huge oversight. Climbing was actually perfected in Shadow of the colossus where managing your grip and timing was utterly essential.

In the world of interactive games anything that has no risk should be removed from the game. As a consequence there a many long and tedious sequences of traversal. The new sliding mechanic does NOTHING to alleviate this problem and the game sputters to a seriously anti-climactic finale.

They would have you believe that the world has multiple routes....it doesn't, they're just loops.

Combat engine: well it's seriously wonky and on rails. Rocksteady perfected the multiple enemy combat scenario and no one has come close. For all their technical ability (anyone remember the highly dodgy pub fight in U3?) ND still cannot get this right.

Story: It's probably the best, or most rounded. The problem is I don't want to watch a movie, I want to be a part of one. There simply aren't enough WOWSPLOSIONS considering this is meant to be the series finale.

The game peaks at the mud jeep sequence which is SPECTACULAR. But after that..there's real pacing issues and it's an absolute slog to get to the end. Those final chapters just consist of collapsing buildings/ships...so what...we've seen them all before.

Multiplayer: It is saying something that the MP portion of the game is better than the SP.

And even worse throughout my playthrough (BTW UNCHARTED 2 is still the king) I was wishing we had Last of Us 2 instead of this....

    And BTW I don't own a Xbone1. I'm a Sony fan who's just honest....

Stating that the forthcoming game will be the last rendezvous with a popular, charismatic hero is a rare phenomenon. I congratulate Naughty Dog on their courage and in spite of myself keep my fingers crossed for them to stick to their decision. The farewell party they threw for Nate is simply spectacular. This is how I want to remember him, not as an old man who rubbed his joints with pain cream and then found a UFO. Uncharted 4 is a brilliant game and a breathtaking demonstration of what PS4 is capable of. [07/2016, p.56]
