This an amazing game. I am glad I canceled my COD preorder and picked this up instead. Single played story was fun and amazing. The MP is solid and fun as hell. Just a superb game and a homerun for the devs. More people need to try it! It's in my top 3 for this year, for sure.

So let me preface this by saying I played titanfall 1 with great anticipation due to new console and new IP from the creators of call of duty 4. I was let down. I was let down. The core gameplay was good no doubt but the lack of singleplayer and certain multiplayer nuances just didn't feel good to me. It quickly fell out of my "play regular" category and just went by the wayside without ever giving it a second thought other than when talking about games that "could have been." With that said, titanfall 2 delivered on every mark it missed in the first game. The gameplay is somehow better and more fluid. The multiplayer subtleness and nuances are spot on. The single player is actually really good and flows well with the game. Its just fun, and after all that is what games are supposed to be. This group captured lightning in a bottle with COD 4 and I dare say they did it again. Buy it, its well worth it. Expand

I am new to the TitanFall franchise and I was hoping it would be as good as everyone said it to be. My personal experience was AMAZING, I love the story and the Multiplayer is great! However there is one thing that I would want is like maybe a practice arena, so you can see what works best for your play style and so you could mess around with weapons that come with multiplayer.

The graphics and refresh rate a amazingly optimized. No lag what so ever. The singleplayer story is funny, touching and a bit predictable, but it's not about the end, its about how you get there in Titanfall 2.

The multiplayer is also refreshing after BO3 and IW with their whole pay to win thing (and paid DLCs), its nice to see that someone knows what the players want. Weapons are cool, the boosts are cool, love that grappling hook.

I would say that titanfall 2 is the fps that everyone should be playing this holiday. SKIP ON COD and BF and try something new. :D

The MP is absolutely awesome, fast, with skill and quite different thanks to 1000 customization. Ok the game needs better and more maps but is super fun anyways. Is super different every time you play with other classes so makes the game diverse.

If Metacritic offered in-between scores, I'd rate this higher (I just can't give it a 10 without being disingenuous).

I loved the TF1, and TF2 has just as much polish, care and detail put into it as the first. If you enjoy fast-paced PVP, you should really pick this up. Not only that, Respawn is a great team (which is evident throughout the MP and fantastic Single-player campaign)

I was unfortunate to not to play Titanfall 1 to see how much progress has been made, being a PS4 only owner. However, from my understanding the multiplayer was great but had a short lifespan due to basic progression and not a lot of variety in load outs.

Well it is safe to say, these criticisms have been squashed with the huge variety and depth in the progression model this time round.

Such a shame the release date was when it was. As two absolute juggernauts of gaming franchises (in regards to commercial success) probably mean this won't be appreciated by as many as it should.

Only criticism is I think it is begging for Competitive / E-Sports mode, I hope this is planned some day.

Easily the best FPS this window, and probably of the year.

The real pioneers of Modern Warfare shine brightest.

This is hands down the best first person shooter for PS4. I was a dedicated Destiny player for 2 years, I bought and enjoy Battlefield 1, but if you only buy one FPS for the PS4, buy Titanfall 2, it's in a league of it's own. The game has been compared to COD but I think that's a mistake, it really feels and plays nothing like it. To me it has more in common with Quake (super fast smooth arena shooter) with Titans adding the element of the old Armored Core games. Respawn may not have spent nearly as much as their competitors advertising this game, but rest assured that those saving were invested where it counts- in making the game. Who doesn't want to sprint up a wall amid gunfire, throw a grenade through an open window, cloak yourself mid air and land atop a mechanized war machine, drop a grenade into its hull for an unsuspecting pilot and then jet pack to safety only to be caught mid aim by your own titan which you then begin to pilot? This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's very different from the first game mainly cuz it actually has a campaign in it and it's not just multiplayer only.

But I did enjoy the campaign as it was more focused on the relationship between pilot and Titan which I felt was really needed. How Cooper and BT was working together through this whole game was inspiring. Course some levels seem predictable and very cliched then again there was some parts that kept me guessing. I really like the level where you kept going through Rifts in time. I have a really fun switching back and forth. Like past time control games really need something like that. Also, it did a better job of telling the story than the first game did. Of course that would have been hard seeing that it was just being played in the background while you were in the middle of the multiplayer.

Speaking of the multiplayer, I was having trouble with it at first but I think it's because I've been playing a lot of OverWatch and and not enough Call of Duty lately. I need to get back into the element of the modern shooter. And sometimes it's good and sometimes it's frustrating being killed out of nowhere. It was just too used to the run-and-gun type style of playing when I'm more of a stay and defend type guy.

All in all, I enjoy playing this and would recommend it to anyone who like Shooters as well as giant robots.

TF2, on the other hand is an absolute liquid-fire breathing dragon. The SP is certainly cool, but to me is really just a primer for the MP which is absolutely packed with constant energy and intensity. The movement is hard to describe....somehow it just feels right. The titan brawls are absolute gorgeous mayhem. I confess, I rarely know what I'm doing during these bashes, but just being part of the mix with the occasional titan kill is exhilarating. The game modes are all fun, but Bounty Hunt is my absolute favorite. There are so many dynamic elements which interact with one another without being messy or confusing....it adds an element of dynamism the amplifies the excitement even more. Truly ingenious.

No matter the map this never changed, the other Titan options were wasted on me. With TF2 each Titan seems to have a roll, so I pick my Titan based on map and enemy Titan types. I default to Tone most often I find, likely due to its similarity to my original, but I almost just as often switch things around depending on the match.

The pilots are nicely varied. I find the grapple and phase powers to both be very rewarding to the imaginative pilot, and feel none of the powers are throw away. For guns, I can find at least one in each class I feel intuitive with, and while I'm not a big CoD player I feel the weapon selection is ample (but if you do play BF or CoD you might disagree).

My problems with the game steer more to the game types. Attrition appears to be the only mode I can consistently have fun with. Mixing with Adds while hunting pilots and facing off against Titans is a blast. The different Specters and larger Reapers are a great addition. Most other modes don't offer enough Titan time - they end up being just pilots vs pilots for most of the match. And Last Titan Standing, I went in with a team of 4 friends but somehow we can't win a single game. Legions appear to be biased for this game type. However these are the kinds of things I can see Respawn fixing after some feedback and balancing so it's a minor concern for the short term.

Originally I hated the lack of shields and the addition of batteries in the tech test. It didn't make sense and my Titans would die really quick. But with the full game I find there is a very enjoyable ballet between engaging or surviving, coordinating with other Titans or attacking solo. Playing with a friend often times means teaming up, one in Titan, the other harassing enemy Titans, stealing batteries, and keeping my partner at peak efficiency. It is a much more complicated play style that I expect will keep me from getting board of the more basic strategy of the original for much longer. A few times I try to maximize Titan longevity at the cost of points and find it easy possible to spend the entire match in a single Titan. Sure you won't be on the front lines racking up all the kills but give me a Tone and a map that isn't valley warfare and I can stay pretty safe if that's what I want to do.

I really hope more people pick up a copy by Christmas. It's a really great game that I think will only get better from a larger pool of pilots. And all future maps and DLC included? $60 was a very simple decision for me to make. No regrets!

The single player is one of the most masterfully paced experiences I've played since the early Modern Warfare Games. The multiplayer now features a permanent unlock system and does away with the burn card system all together. Progression feels satisfying and is always giving you new toys to play with as you work towards unlocking the next new toy. The abilities significantly, and smartly, change the way you play the game and result in emergent play styles that are fun and satisfying in their own ways.
The presentation is polished to a satisfying degree resulting in a fairly constant, high frame rate throughout the game. The movement system, while impressively complex, is so well designed and executed that using it is intuitive and easy to understand. It's a point that easy to overlook until you look at other games that attempt to allow you to do half of what Titanfall 2 does with much less success.
Combat is blindingly fast and satisfying from the moment you jump onto the battlefield till the moment you almost make it into the evac ship.
My only criticism I have is that one can occasionally find themselves wandering in a barren battlefield due to running in the wrong direction after spawning. This issue will likely diminish as the prevalence of map knowledge increases over time but it can still creep up while many of us are still getting our bearings.
Overall, Titanfall 2 is a game that impresses me directly in the wake up Battlefield 1 which also impressed me in a big way. It's the Titanfall title that finally does the series justice. I eagerly await to see what new content is coming in future DLC and, eventually, in the inevitable sequel.

I used to play a lot of first person shooters last generation but recently lost my mojo when it comes to FPS games after the likes of Advanced warfare, mainly because I didn't feel like new FPS games brought anything interesting or compelling to the genre.

If you're like me, and you really want to get your FPS mojo back again, and feel like games like COD and Battlefield aren't really doing it for you anymore, then this is the perfect game for you.

BE WARNED though; Titanfall 2 brings a lot of cool new and interesting mechanics to the table, so it's going to take a while to get good with it in the multiplayer, even if you're amazing at other shooters. But it's refreshing, it's like picking up a good shooter for the first time again.

I made an account just to show this game some love. It's really a 9-9.5 but a current user score of 7.9 just ain't right and I wanna push the average higher.

The last time I was this addicted to a multiplayer FPS was Counter-Strike 1.6. It's really a damn shame it was released between Battlefield 1 and COD:IW (and without any marketing on top of that) as most will gloss over it.

    Pros:
    - Tight as f**k and fast gameplay; the shooting feels great and satisfying, mech battles are awesome and traversing the environment with the parkour wallrunning movement rocks
    - Truly imaginative single player campaign
    - Brand new multiplayer modes

    Cons:
    - While the campaign is great, it's sadly over way too quickly
    - I wish some MP modes included death count stats, like Bounty for example
    - Could do with more MP maps but all future DLC will be free so we can expect more later
    - MP currently doesn't have stat tracking but it will be patched in

Try out this game. Personally I think it blows BF1 out of the water and is far more fun to play. I'm not expecting much from the new COD after the beta. Meanwhile I can spend the entire day playing TF2; it's just that much fun. I urge you to try it out. This game absolutely rocks and is ridiculously fun. Bravo Respawn!

If you enjoy CoD pace and style, you will enjoy this game. It is the same experience but with tighter controls, more entertaining movement, larger maps, and mechs. The most solid twitch aim FPS out there. RIP CoD

Worthless tacked on campaign, it's boring, lifeless and incredibly repetitive. Multiplayer is painfully similar to Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, they've even made mechs far weaker and the pilots movement slower and more clunky meaning it feels far more like CoD than the first game did.

Titanfall 2 is the debut of this series to PlayStation and with this debut comes with an added 6 hour campaign…
And this campaign is far greater than I had any hopes of it being in some cases, while in others really letting me down...
Starting with the good, the gameplay and story here does an awesome job of pulling you towards the credits..
Very early on you become the pilot of a titan named BT and as you play through the story you slowly create a bond with this machine that quickly feels like a living breathing creature…
The banter between you as the pilot and your titan during dialog choices was a highlight for me and had me cracking up as he’s trying to understand human emotion, or comprehend expressions taking them literally…
The campaign has you switching back and forth between being on foot and being in your titan,
And both are so fun and feel so great, but there’s far more focus on being a grounded foot soldier than a titan pilot in this campaign…
Luckily, being on ground can be just as fun as piloting your titan.. wall running and shooting through enemies is a blast, and there are so many cool moments in the campaign that are genuine surprises, and really cool twists the gameplay, there is a decent mix of intrigue, first person shooter, and platforming elements here… Mech fighting is even more fun, and as you progress through the story you unlock new loadouts for your titan all with their own shields, rockets, blasters, and core attacks, so you’re guaranteed to find at least 1 you love that fits your playstyle...
Titan combat can feel much more frustrating though as you don’t have the luxury of health regenerating like you do while on foot..
You have to collect batteries around the combat area or from enemy titans... Which can lead to some pretty frustrating boss battles... but none that ever feel unfair…
Just take much more patience than the first person shooter, platforming sections of the game...
    Now onto the bad..
Gameplay is definitely king, but its 2016 and while Titanfall 2 is fun enough to be ultimately forgiven… it’s nowhere near ambitious enough to look or run the way it does…
I’m not one to usually talk about graphics, but the textures in this game are noticeably awful…
The game really looks bad, its ugly throughout and isn’t helped by the constant dull grey color pallet I thought we got past in 2010, clearly not.. Its back and honestly does take the enjoyment out of the overall experience…
It hardly lives up to the standard of FPS graphics of 5 years ago let alone today...
I want to stop in a game, look around and be awed,
here I stopped, looked around and wondered why this ps4 game looks like a mid-cycle ps3 game… which brings me to the loads…
I can’t remember the last time I saw a load screen between checkpoints in a modern game….
    Well they’re here…. And again I really don’t understand why…
The game isn’t pushing the limits on anything to warrant anything but seamless transitions
I also ran into a game breaking bug in one of the final missions where a team mate fell through the map, and wouldn’t come back even after reloading the checkpoint, causing me to have to restart the chapter from the very beginning to proceed…
Thankfully this wasn’t too annoying and is the only bug I ran into…
And while multiplayer returns, this is my first time experiencing it, and honestly I wasn’t all too blown away…
I had fun, but running around and getting kills to call in my titan around some basic and ugly grey maps wasn’t all too exciting…
There are really no game modes here to make you think outside of the box and strategize like any great multiplayer would…
Its either get kills and bank.. Every mech or pilot for themselves... pilot vs pilot, titan vs titan and the typical capture and hold or capture the flag modes but with tanks..
Though I did personally enjoy titan vs titan the most, as I feel it comes closest to being anything but mindless…
Everything about multiplayer though for the most part feels average, and the battles between the titans isn’t as epic as you would expect and it isn’t as terrifying as you’d expect seeing 1 as just a pilot…
All in all Titanfall 2 is still a fun game, but the overall package is just average…
Lacking a bit of polish and feeling like its already 5 years old...
The star of the show here is hands down the single player and the greatly realized bond between man and titan.
    I give titanfall 2
    a 7.5/10

With that, I went ahead and did a straight swap for Titanfall 2, even though I didn't have high expectations for it. Long story short, I haven't regretted that decision one bit, as TF2 is possibly the best console fps games I've played. The movement, speed, and gun fights remind me a little bit of Quake 3 Arena - which was absolutely frantic and tons of fun (from my PC gaming days and the old mouse and keyboard combo).

If you're still wondering which game to pick up, this'll hit the right spot if you're looking for something fast paced and fun. Highly recommended.

The maps are uninspired and convoluted they geared the game for players with weak hand eye coordination. They destroyed some of the best and most fun interfacing with the titans. Pilots are too weak and you die to easily, so are the titans. They made the NPC's super lethal!!!! They force you to choose titan classes and they have embedded attributes that cannot change. They for some reason got rid of the rodeo and replaced it with a disappointing experience snatching batteries and dropping grenades. Why would they get rid of titan shields? Also now when your doomed you don't have a timer going off giving players the appearance of a second wind when in reality a titan can execute you immediately or anti titan weapons will immediately kill you. You can now shoot from cloaking and immediately return to cloak as long as timer doesn't run out. Which only means they are catering to new players. They got rid of tertiary weapons!!!!! Which means you have to choose between either carrying a secondary weapon or a anti titan weapon!!!!!! What the hell!!!! Choosing between a secondary weapon and anti titan weapon is like asking which leg do I use the least! Sticking to walls is now a ability that needs to be unlocked, absolutely ruining the parkour experience! Ammo and grenades are infinite which remove the tactical criticality of having limited resources!!!!! They brought back the cursed smart pistol what the f@&$$! They made the XO9 titan machine gun less accurate! Some pilot classes look outright stupid. Yes they gave a campaign with cool features no spoilers, but they gutted the heart and soil from the original. I was platinum 3 once upon a time. In conclusion I like to liken this sequel to a basketball analogy: you ever play a game and there is a guy who gets the ball and just does too much with it and when it's time to score he chokes. Well that is TF2. I wanted to like it, I was predisposed to like it and I just can't it's an alien game. The developers catered too much to the noobs!!!! The graphics are the same or worse than TF. It takes to long to recover from damage. All they needed to do was give us TF experience back more maps, weapons, and a storyline and it would of been out the park!!! Instead they delivered a stillborn. No way does the remaining TF community will be satisfied with this offspring!. Expand

The only problem is it's not easy to do, especially when you're in the middle of full-scale interplanetary war. Nonetheless, you get your chance, albeit rather quickly which is kind of a shame .. they could have played out the training/desire factor a bit more, but still tons of fun nonetheless. Throughout the campaign you learn how to become a tier 1 pilot, picking up new and interesting titan loadouts along the way (weapons packages that give you different advantages against bosses). Oh yea, there's bosses. As an older gamer, I miss bosses being the checkpoint between levels. This game's got them and they're definitely challenging. The campaign is about 6 hours of play (didn't time it so forgive me) but by the end you start to love your titan and you save each other form crazy situations. The final scene is one of hope that sets up a likely sequel (YES!). They did an amazing job of playing with emotions and weaving a great story amongst a chaotic universe.

Multiplayer is just tons of fun. There were critics saying you didn't get Titans quick enough during the tech test ... well you get them plenty fast now, so don't listen to that nonsense. Leveling is no quick feat, so prepare to spend some serious time just getting the next best gun. Customization is on point, tons of different ways to play The addition of the pilot tactical (like grapple or sonar knife) make the game tons of fun to play. You can really move around the map just like in the first one, except now you're doing it FASTER.

Get this game ... you really won't regret it.

I can't praise this game highly enough... It's the most fun I've had playing a FPS for years. The campaign is superb (albeit quite short ) and the multiplayer is excellent.

If you only buy 2 multiplayer shooters this year it should be this and Battlefield 1... and if your looking for a single player shooter.. Buy doom.

Some maps are a tad on the big side, but they cater well to all forms of engagement with builidings and tighter areas in the middle of the map. I've been running mostly smg classes and they work splendidly.

There is a lot of customization unlike in TF1 with perks, boosts, attachments, camos, player cards etc. More guns would be nice, as there are currently only around 20 for pilots, but maybe they'll be added in later in addition to the free maps and dlc that's coming.

The movement system is smooth and allows you to move faster by chaining slides and wallruns together. BO3 feels clunky in comparison. On top of choosing a number from 1 to 8 for your sensitivity, there are several different response curves you can choose from to tailor your aim and turning abilities.

Overall it's a solid game and is super fun to play. I've been looking for a fast, fluid, and fun shooter. Titanfall 2 looks like it's gonna be it!

I'm an FPS doofus, but I'm always competitive at this parrticular game. I attribute that to the controls fitting me like a glove. I'll let the rest of you debate the subtle ins and outs. And in case anyone was wondering where the player stats are, fear not. They will be adding that in a future update. Not sure why they couldn't have that ready for day one, but I'll let it slide...especially since the DLC is free. Brief note on single-player....I'm only about an hour and a half into it, but I'm having a good time. I didn't buy Titanfall 2 for single player, but it's engaging enough that I'll give it a full run-through.

While the campaign is short, it still offers a great gameplay experience, like bosses and puzzles that you wouldn't normally find in a FPS. The game is not perfect and has changed some things for better or worse, but it still retains the fast and incredible smooth gamplay from the first TitanFall.

P.S. I've read some of the negative user reviews, and from what I can see those people only put in the minimum amount time possible (Or have not even played the game). Like I typed earlier it may appear like like another generic shoot, but the movement and combat is alone makes the game fun and full of replay value.

The multiplayer is tons of fun, and as you become more familiar with the maps you get a sense of the wallrunning and mobility lanes that you can use to creatively come at your opponents from unpredictable angles.

The gunplay feels solid, the class based Titans give interesting choices and create dynamic fights between titan classes as they have strengths you want to avoid and weaknesses you want to exploit, for example Tone is great against Ronin at range because of it's 40mm autocannon and rocket salvos, and Ronins weapons and core ability are all short-medium range, if the Tone pilot allows Ronin to close the gap, Ronin can output a ton of damage in a short amount of time.

The sendoff of burn cards in favor of boosts is a welcome change, although some boosts seem very strong and some boosts seem very weak. I can see boosts as being a thing that are banned from competitive play because essentially when every player is taking the same boost, it would be the same as no players having boosts, but with more "unfun" moments when a titan instakills you with SMGs using amped weapons.

Overall, Titanfall 2 is a complete package, all DLC, maps and weapons are coming free, the single player, while short, is meaningful and has fun sequences as you and BT fight against all odds. The multiplayer is a blast, and feels like a mixture of Tribes and Mechassault, it's both fast and the gunplay feels tight.

However the only aspect that i seem to enjoy are the titans, and wow have they improved them. There are many variants with their own set of skills displaying pros and cons when using them. The only thing that hinders this experience is the very generic infantry combat you'd expect from an arcade shooter.

If you are a fan of call of duty i highly recommend this game, in fact don't bother getting infinite warfare and get this instead. However, if you are the kind of guy who isn't a spastic retard with a low attention span of a 12 year old...get bf1 instead and play some conquest with your friends, or use the lfs (looking for squad) feature to find like-minded people who want to work as a team.
