Very well crafted. Increadible graphics, optimized for pc.
The main quest could have been 20% shorter, though.
The game is more a choose-you-own adventure, and it explores the human condition through substance abuse, greed, fear, exploitastion. This isn't really a sandbox, crafty, do-whatever-you-want game. I've read the books and played the previous games and for me the game was great

    The good:
Graphics are amazing, especially considering the size of this game and its world.
Vast number of characters offering something new and entertaining to the story.
    Soundtrack is amazing.
Story is one of the best of 2015 and in my opinion the best in any RPG to date.
Great RPG elements that affect the overall story.
Hugh world that has a place and environment for everyone.
Tons of side quest and missions to keep you entertained for hours.

    The bad:
With all the content, some might feel overwhelmed. However, I think most RPG fans will love the amount of content offered.

This is a most own game for any RPG fan and one that shouldn't be looked over. If your still having doubts about buying this game, then due your research and you will realize what everyone else is trying to tell you. "It's a must buy!"

Perfection come true! I've never played something with such detail, the graphics are spectacular, I think it's the only game that can proudly say that is next-gen. The soundtrack is also impressive, as the voiceover, I have never felt so immersed in a game.

It's great what they have worked out this game from CD Projekt RED, there's no reason why it shouldn't the game of the year... Oh wait! It already is!

What I liked most is the endless possibilities you have when you interact with NPCs, the way it affects the evolution of history and the world around you, so that none is the right or wrong choice, all are viable and have their own reason for being in the course of things.

The main line of the game follows the previous titles, but you can play it without having played The Witcher I or II, which is my case.

It is a vast world full of bloody history and creatures to hunt, you never run out of tasks and secondary missions to do that's for sure, in any case you will have problems to finish everything, because its a game that delivers hundreds of gameplay hours if you decide to complete it. You even have a card board minigame that you will must collect if you want to go platinum; there are people who find it boring, but I enjoyed it pretty much.

Like any open world game, you'll find glitches here and there, but that's normal considering how immensely big it is, you do not get the picture of the scale of the map until you start playing! Roach controls are a bit squishy, but still you just get used to it.

I'm looking forward to the second DLC (I've already completed Hearts of Stone), Blood and Wine, to dive once again into this fascinating world that CD Projekt RED has given us, I'm glad to see there are still developers who know how to make videogames!

No doubt this is one of the games that I'll remember for many years when it comes to compare future releases of the genre, and it will be a difficult task to stand up next to The Witcher 3.

Good game. Good middle ages atmosphere with a little fantasy thrown into it. Like the variety and sandbox. Lots to do and explore. Wished they made swimming not as annoying/frustrating as it is. Weird controls. It doesn't always do what you press. Besides that no real flaws except for some minor bugs/glitches.

The only reason I am giving it 5 stars is because the Witcher is generally a good game, but this game is a cookie-cutter. Fairly boring RPG elements. Story that tries way too hard to make you care. Graphic and mature content that adds nothing to the value of the game or the story. Bland combat that is the exact same as the game from two titles ago in the series.

The game itself is beautifully realized; visually I can safely say it is one of the best examples of a true next/current generation game. With amazing lighting and fairly spot on textures, although a little rough around the edges at times, it has maintained a solid and consistent frame rate for me. Character modelling is very good, animations are nice and facial modelling is also very good. Enemy detailing is also very nice and some bosses have their own unique 'skins' if you will, allowing them to stand apart from their lesser compatriots. Monster design on a whole is unique and feels fresh; the creators not afraid to make up their own creatures as opposed to using set models the likes of which are usually featured in this type of game.

Gameplay on a whole is very good from my point of view, even playing on normal difficulty there is a good level of challenge to be expected, as described by one CD Projekt Red employee: "it's on a scale between Skyrim and dark souls" with some of the harder difficulty levels edging closer to the dark souls side of the spectrum. Supplemented by a vast amount of lore and tying in very nicely with the in game bestiary; the crafting system plays a vital role in the game. If you are to beat the harder enemies in the game you are going to want to take advantage of the knowledge you acquire in order to craft potions and oils; to aid in your fight and these can often mean the difference between living to tell another day, or ending up as lunch for an angry werewolf.

The writing side of the dice slightly lets the game down; with the main story feeling slightly typical and in no way too unique (this is mostly personal opinion) however it does not detract from the fact that it is above average in the story department. Side quests have equal depth however and some are very memorable and some unique moments arise from wondering off the beaten path, just try not to go too far down it at lower levels, or you'll get smacked back to the starting area so hard you'll probably turn the PlayStation off and cry in the corner, wondering how you can be so bad at this game (it's not you, it's not an easy game and this definitely DID NOT happen to be when playing on Death March mode)

Overall, I would say a solid effort from a seemingly small company, they have outdone many larger companies with this game, not to shy of being a masterpiece, this game is definitely a must for any RPG fan.

For an open world rpg game, the level up system is not as good as Fallout 4, however the mutagens offer some interesting power increases. Card game is fun, but nothing epic. I do appreciate the effort that went into creating such a mini-game in-world.

Game difficulty is a breeze once the game mechanics are competently understood, but that can take a few levels so Death March was hard and challenging at first, but then became quite average, if not easy. I think you will have to weigh dying and waiting for reloading times versus challenge factor and see what is most fun for you.

Overall, I had a blast playing this game and am yet to find something better for the 2015 year.

The voice acting is pretty good (it took me a bit to get over geralt sounding like batman though). The body languange and facial expressions are what make interacting with people so good though. Sometimes I felt like I was watching a movie instead of playing a game.
This game has some serious glitches though an elusive gwent card glitch make it nearly impossible to get the "collect em all trophy" making a platinum sometimes completely impossible. There is quest where you get locked into a dungeon and seriously your only way out is using a different glitch. The horse mechanics are kinda clunky. Sometimes I sheathe my sword in the middle of battle which can get really frustrating. This happens a lot when I'm fighting humanoid creatures like dongs and monsters at the same time and have to switch between swords. Well sometimes I sheathe one and never pull out the other. I've had quests that don't complete the way they should too.
That being said this game is freaking so fun. I absolutely loved the gwent side game what a blast. I wish fallout 4 were half as good as this game..... or if walmart had a better return policy on video games but thats for a different rant. If you haven't played this game you need to it's the most enjoyable single player experience I've had on a nextgen console. Lastly you can't go wrong when you put in a pair (or a hundred) of real ta tas lol. Honestly this title must have put the ESRB through the ringer. The gameplay is weird but action packed, it's better to play in the hardest modes otherwise it becomes too easy in mid game. Each enemy fights differently and forces you to use different tactics which is great.

The crafting game could have been better, they have tons of stuff to craft but I found that making the standard equipment was enough, and consumables are crafted once and they refill when sleeping which was a let down.

Great features compared with other games:

    - Forced male character without face customization and great voice acting (great, it's more immersive).
    - The character is not an emo, nor a chosen one, is not superman either.
    - The character may be a cheater depending on player choices.
    - The other characters all have different and clear personalities.
    - Best characters animations and modeling so far.
    - Best book adaptation I've ever seen.
    - Best horseback riding experience so far compared to Skyrim, DA-I, TERA.
    - Very large and open world and you can go anywhere at almost any level (some monsters cannot be killed at low level).
    - Very long and entertaining story.
    - Optional quests are not the typical "kill 8 boars" type. Instead they are of the detective type with clues you have to find.
    - Nice card subgame Gwent which is optional.

Things that could have been better:

    - The talent system is somewhat limited, there are several talents that are not very useful.
    - Crafting could be improved.
    - The filler NPC characters faces tend to get repeated often.
    - Limited replay incentive.

I think it's fair to say that the Western open-world genre has become quite formulaic over the years. Yet, with The Witcher 3, developer CD Projekt Red proves that it's still possible to have a seriously amazing experience without necessarily innovating the genre's tried-and-true foundations.

The game puts you on the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a witcher (monster hunter) who roams the Northern Realms in search of Cirilla, his foster daughter, who is being chased by a supernatural army called the Wild Hunt. Having not played any of the previous titles, I found myself initially intimidated by the storyline background; luckily, the game's tale is written in such a way that you can mostly ignore the finer details of Geralt's previous sagas if you want to.

The story itself is likely to please fantasy fans. It is a fittingly epic tale which uses the invasion of the Northern Realms by the southern Nildgaardian empire as a background, and it's reasonably fun and interesting. It does have its fair share of clichés and at least a couple of significant dei ex-machina (I'm looking at you, Dudu the Doppler) that render it hard to be taken entirely seriously as a piece of adult-oriented storytelling, however.

In his adventure, Geralt roams several open spaces through the Northern Realms. The landscapes look absolutely gorgeous, filled with impressive lighting effects and extremely detailed textures. One of my favorite aspects of the setting is how it mixes traditional fantasy with a bit of horror, leading to some pretty scary enemies and scenarios, but without resorting to cheap jump-scares.

There is a lot of ground to cover in the several open-world environments, with numerous towns, villages, sidequests and hidden secrets to keep you busy. Roaming the land in search of experience and loot is extremely satisfying, thanks in good part to the intuitive controls and the fluid action (no, there's not a single quick-time event to tell of, thank you very much). Like any good RPG, there are also extensive options to craft and/or buy gear, weapon, potions and assorted items, which manage to be intricate without getting overwheming.

There is only one significant deviation from this formula: gwent, a simple strategy card game, played by Geralt and several NPCs, in which you amass an army (represented by separate character cards) and control the weather to defeat opponents. As basic as it is, it's a surprisingly addictive little diversion, and sometimes I found myself setting the main adventure aside just to wind off against NPCs and win new cards.

Basically, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt plays brilliantly, looks gorgeous, and offers dozens upon dozens of hours for you to lose yourself in its very appealing brand of horror-tinged fantasy. With its compelling world, an equipment/potion/addon system that is deep yet easy to grasp, and a set of main quest missions that doesn't try to break its own boundaries in annoying ways, you have one of the best releases of the year for fans of epic adventures.

First of all the story telling in this game is one of the best I have ever experienced. The main story is very good paced. The Baron quest line is one of the best in RPG games ever. The story is so full of emotions, tough decisions and twists. Every quest has a story and a background and always two or sometimes even more ways to end it.
The World of the Witcher is vast and rich with encounters, NPC and more. You got big cities, small villages, forts and ruins to explore. Caves and mountain tops to discover. Yes it has zones it's not one big open world game but one thing in it what is amazing. No loading screens. Enter a cave? A house? A City? A castle? No loading screen! This is how you should do it.
Combat is very fluid and you can do it how you want it. Sword fighting, signs (aka magic), potions, traps and bombs. Fast and sneaky or slow and tanky? You can play it how you want it.
There is a lot more equipment and upgrades then in previous games. Swords, axes, crossbows and a lot of different armor parts to chose from. You have different armor sets that are tied in to quests and give you some back story to different Witcher schools.
Graphic wise Witcher 3 is the best looking game in 2015 period. Yes on PC it requires a powerful machine but on console you still get a medium to high experience. The game just looks beautiful. The character models, the landscape and weather effects. Lightning effects and shadows are amazing. And every zone has its own look and feel to it.
All and all a great game and one of the best RPG in gaming history. The best game of this year by a mile.

A fantastic game with a large, varied and beautifully created world. The story line is interesting and the game does a good job of ensuring you know how far you are along with the main plot. The controls can be a little clunky and you can get stuck behind objects sometimes but these are very minor negatives in an otherwise very refined, enjoyable game. Frankly, the best next gen title, if not one of the best games of all time. The people who rate poorly? They are the ones who don't want to admit that Fallout 4 is not going to win GOTY and will lose even to Tomb Raider, Bloodborne and even SWB. Witches 3 is going to hands down win GOTY.

    Why?

For one: the detail. Every single NPC in the world, right down to their tiny animations, is believable, realistic, with thousands of tiny conversations going on that make the game feel like a real, living, breathing world. "Oh but don't let yourself be distracted by the polish (polish, not Polish)."

Two, the music is top notch. I am amazed by the beauty and passion put into the music.
"Oh, but good music doesn't make a good game."

Third, the graphics. Every single piece of the world is crafted with such care I spent hours upon hours just looking at the detail. The light catching on blowing trees, tiny little details in the herbs that you can pick, the amazing detail in the armor, the blowing fur in their cloaks, Geralt's hair.
("Oh, but graphics don't make a good game... hurrdurrrrr Fallout 4").

Fourth, voice acting and script. Top notch and emotional. The baby scene was literally the most traumatizing thing I've ever experience in gaming. ("Oh, but having hundreds of voice actors and tens of thousands of written lines acted out perfectly with PERFECT animations and timing and even emotion conveyed through animated eyes, doesn't make a good game.")

Fifth, the sound design. Absolutely perfect. ("Oh, but having sound design that is Hollywood blockbuster tier doesn't make a good game.")

Sixth, character development. Top tier. ("Oh, but Geralt's voice is boring. Why is an American in medieval Europe?")

Seventh, world design. Massive, massive, massive, detailed, incredible.

Eighth, gameplay. For the intelligent player who can literally decide how he wants to play. Want to just hypnotize your enemies and let them kill everyone for you? Or want to just knock them all to the ground and stab them while they're laying there? Maybe you'd prefer to learn the difficult but perfectly developed combat system to become a master swordsman?

This is a 10/10 game, if I've ever played one. Play this, not Failout 4.

Any criticism leveled at this game is really off the mark... there's no way anyone who has played this game with an objective mindset could say that there's something wrong with it. I spent 300 hours in the game looking for problems, and I couldn't find any other than the flying body glitch (fixed), a small sound glitch when you first attacked with your sword, and some other tiny minor things.

Fantastic open world RPG. It has an enthralling story that really pushes you to just play it. You have this intense drive to play the game, it's great. The game does have some technical issues, and the combat isn't that great, but if you can look past those faults I suggest picking this gem up.

Where is the 11 on that scale ?

This is the game I'v been waiting for. Huge map, original monsters, best storyline ever made (of course it's from a book, I know). Awesome graphics, dialogues, sidequests, treasures, strange things, humor, sex.. Novigrad has to be the best city ever made in a video game, so lively, so beautiful. Every quest has a backstory, loads of books to read, 36

If you like taking your time, building a character, collect 59808 plants to make potions and useless crap, buy this game, the season pass and everything, I doubt we'll have a game that good in the next years

    Absolutely stunning, 10/10

The conclusion of Geralt’s game saga couldn’t be better. The large open world, great storytelling and dozens of hours of pure fun – this game is an absolute must for every RPG fan. [Issue#253]

This truly outstanding game raises the bar to new heights that will be extremely hard to reach for BioWare, Bethesda and any other developer. [07/2015, p.38]

The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
