Just wow. Huge, immersive world, with a great story and great side-quests. This the first game on the PS4 worthy a perfect score, brings back good memories of good old Bioware RPG legends like Baldurs Gate or Torment. Highly recommended.

A masterpiece and "must play'' , in 30 years of playing video games, this is the best and most satisfying RPG I have experienced.

Witcher 3 is setting new standards and that deserves a 10.

The bond between Ciri and Geralt is something I can;t describe. You must play it to see what I mean. So many tears after ending the game! Now I'm feeling empty. I've logged over 100+ hours into the Witcher 3 and I've still got a **** tonne of quests, exploration and gawking to do. Even if you haven't played previous Witcher games, i still highly recommend this, as this game dwarfs all other AAA titles within the past 5 years. In fact, this isn't a game, it's an experience, as you play you feel like you are an actual Witcher, wondering town to town, picking up contracts, getting caught up in feuds or local scrummages , and then happening across a quest that will take you on a rollercoaster ride of horror and wonderment. It's this kind of organic storytelling that is missing from other modern AAA RPGs, as it combines the flowing and random nature of say a Rockstar game, with the insane scope of an RPG as big as Skyrim. So fellow Gamers, I urge you to play and experience this game, as it's a new Benchmark within the Open World and the RPG genres Expand

I'd considered myself a mild fan of The Witcher series and games but not crazy about it like some people - that all changed with this instalment. Somehow, this game manages to combine two facets in gaming that are often opposite ends of a spectrum: quality and quantity.

The quality of narrative, voice acting and writing typical of The Witcher series or - to those unfamiliar with The Witcher - BioWare games, is present here in spades. I've rarely gone through such an array of emotions playing a video game. Many times did I laugh out loud, get teary or even angry at the events that unfold.

Every The Witcher title has a layered plot but with this instalment it's more multi-faceted than ever. Politics, prejudice, fear, history and the more fantastical fantasy: it's all covered here. Characters each have their own backstories and plot that unveils as the game progresses. There's complexity here but not too much to confuse the attentive or become convoluted. Ultimately, it keeps the main plot simple and creates branches from it that add depth, and it all ties together to make a memorable experience. It is elevated further and given greater urgency and impact by featuring the most menacing villains we've been pitted against yet in the series.

Voice acting is fantastic - it's as simple as that. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that off the top of my head I cannot recall a game with voice acting to match. And this praise goes far and wide, not just to the main characters. A particularly memorable moment to me is when a character from the previous instalment disobeys her commander, almost resulting in her death, and receives an ear-bending from her superior officer - it feels genuine: anger, concern and exasperation all tied up in one line of dialogue.

Facial animations in conversations are another highlight. There are many occasions where the writers use body language alone to convey a character's feelings or thoughts, and some of the most powerful scenes involve little to no dialogue at all. This is something we'd consider excellent acting and screenplay in a movie and it's no different here, except every aspect of it is meticulously crafted by puppetmaster developers. They even manage to give Geralt - the primary protagonist with cat-like eyes - puppy-dog eyes in times of grief.

Yet, the game is also huge in scope and scale. Make no mistake, this game is enormous, both in terms of world space and content. And to top it all off the game is absolutely beautiful, with environments looking authentically gorgeous and organic. The weather effects in particular are a marvel at times and it is surprising how much of boost to atmosphere a small thing as gusts of wind can have.

As for content, we're not talking about bloat or hundreds of fetch quests to fluff things out. We're talking real plights that poor villagers, snotty soldiers or rich earls are facing that requires the services of a witcher. As a rough estimate, I'd wager about 80% of the sidequests feel individual and tailored. Each one involves something different and even when the experience isn't wholly unique it is still engaging. There are also random events, particularly in the largest city area in the game, that reminded me of the cRPGs of old like Baldur's Gate. Cases where you'd be walking through the street and attacked randomly or begged for help. It all adds life and immersion to the world.

It is jaw-dropping how they managed to include so much and simultaneously make it all so organic and varied, especially with a dev team half the size of Rockstar's GTA5 team.

Gameplay is a mixed bag, although more in favour of positive than negative. The combat is vastly improved over The Witcher 2, both in terms of functionality and variety. For starters, combat is tighter than the previous game, far more responsive and a greater degree of control is given to the player, allowing for skill to make more of a difference.

Blocking is now actually very effective, and the game includes a riposte feature akin to the Souls series parry. A timed block just before an enemy attacks results in a parry that leaves them wide open. Monsters also have particular weaknesses, either listed in their bestiary entries or some less obvious learned through experimenting. Additionally, there are two different types of dodge: a side-step and a full-on roll, like in the previous game. Many will be happy to hear both types of dodge have a small window of invincibility so timed dodges are now an effective means of evasion.

That said, this leads us onto the negative with regards combat: hitboxes. When facing normal humanoid enemies the hitboxes are generally absolutely fine and combat flows nicely. Against certain larger enemies though, such as many of the monster hunting quests, you'll find the hitboxes a bit wonky at times. That said, it still doesn't take away from the overall experience.

This is masterful game development. And a truly incredible piece of art.

The beautifully crafted world of Witcher 3, from an aesthetic perspective, puts to shame all console games prior. Though it is beautiful, it doesn’t just hope to get by on its good looks.
The tale of “Geralt of Rivia” gradually reveals a well complex individual with a group of nearly equally intriguing of allies, friends and nemesis who are worthy of their own tales. The quest designs are thoughtful, and express real and believable human needs without seeming as contrived with the express purpose of giving the player something to do. The options before Geralt, and for the most part the outcomes, make sense.
I love the game, but here’s my wishlist….

The world is large, but more variation in landscape could augment that sense of being in a vast world. The leveling system and tech tree are adequate, but could use some tweaks. More depth of character customization/specialization would augment the game. I would also prefer to see a combat system more akin to LOTR Shadow, Batman, etc. that is conducive to combos.

Clearly the above mentioned suggestions didn't ruin the game for me, as I still rate it at 9.5.

Truly a PS 4 essential for lovers of open world RPGs.

Yes there was the graphics downgrade controversy but after reading the reviews i thought myself ready to immerse myself in a proper RPG again. Something i didn't do since Skyrim.

But boy oh boy was i happy i tried this game. The first few hours are quite hardcore as I wasn't all that familiar with the systems of potions and stuff but after the first five hours i really started to enjoy my time.

The deep story and the epic combat really pulled me in and only just spat me out after completing the game. 80 hours went into my playthrough and i know i missed a huge amount of side plots.

This incredibly beautiful open world is fantastically presented and I found myself frequently making use of the ps4's share button to upload screenshots of the incredible scenery. The main storyline is one to be remembered for years as it keeps you interested at all times and is very easy to follow, even allowing you to make your own decisions in order to change the outcome of the game as well as causing changes to specific characters and even communities. If you weren't told otherwise, you'd think side quests were a part of the main story, with some side quests significantly affecting what happens to some characters, such as who will be the king/queen of Skellige or what will happen to King Radovid. Scavenger hunts and witcher contracts provide a nice alternative to the main story for a bit of money or to help level up your character. CD Projekt RED clearly didn't become lazy when creating side quests as they are excellent. One of the amazing things that CD Projekt RED did was allow new players (such as myself) to fully understand the lore of the game and the background of the characters despite the fact that this is the third game in its series. As is almost a requirement for any RPG game is a good combat system, and The Witcher 3 does not disappoint, simple fast attacks and heavy attacks make up the general swordplay but the use of rolls, dodges and parries allow for a more complex defensive part of combat and the addition of magic elements such as bombs, oils, potions and signs fulfills the RPG aspect of the game. General enemies are simple to take down, yet not at all repetitive and the boss battles are something else, huge elves known as the Wild Hunt make up the main bosses, wearing badass armour and having a huge amount of health combined with unique abilities such as teleporting or summoning elementals keep you on your toes and alert at all times make for some of the best boss fights I've ever seen. Sticking with the subject, the end battle is magnificent with not one but two bosses and the combination of fighting as both Ciri and Geralt adds an original twist to the already spectacular game. The only things that could be altered with this game are the occasionally glitchy movement system, often you'll find yourself unable to open a chest or loot a body and the walking and running can sometimes feel unnatural. As well as this, as somewhat of a newcomer to RPGs, at the beginning of the game I found it slightly difficult to fully understand some elements of the game such as magic items and the ability trees and so would recommend taking your time at the beginning to make sure you read the tutorials and completely understand them. In conclusion, this game completely amazed me, the incredible amount of content that is in this game is phenomenal and every aspect can't be faulted. It is definitely one of the best, if not the best game I have ever played and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The lack of multiplayer may deter some gamers however anyone will enjoy The Witcher 3, regardless of whether they usually prefer multiplayer or singleplayer. I have given The Witcher 3 a score of 10 because of the following reasons:

    Strengths:
    - Fantastic storyline
    - Impressive graphics
    - Interesting, exciting side quests
    - Highly entertaining boss battles
    - Good combat system

    Weaknesses:
    - Occasional glitches
    - Unnatural movement

Starting of with the game graphics The Witcher 3 delivers a very beautiful world, every thing on this game looks absolutely stunning, from the beautiful looking swords to the vast creatures, the dynamic weather and the ground look amazing, there where and still are a great deal of texture bugs especially in towns that have a greater number of NPC´s, the textures do take some time to load and it can be a little bit ugly and can partially destroy the game´s momentum, and your horse may sometimes enter the ground, other than this there weren´t any noticeable bugs related to presentation. The cut-scenes are interactive and you choose what to say, but it´s not like for instance Fallout 3 where you´d stay static when talking to someone, the camera is constantly moving and gives the game a more cinematic look. The menus are simple and organized, there is a great emphasis on lore and information about the world of The Witcher 3, like for instance the creature´s glossary and character´s.
As for sound and audio the game features an amazing and in-context soundtrack, this soundtrack makes combat situations feel more tense and climatic.
The storyline isn´t boring at all as some other reviewers portrayed it, the levels and missions are well designed and I never felt bored while playing it.It follows the story of Geralt of Rivia as he tracks down his daughter-like ex-apprentice, the emperor´s daughter Cirilla, while she´s in danger and being pursued by the Wild Hunt, during the campaign you can also play as Ciri in some missions. The game offers tons of side-quests, contracts to kill monsters and a very fun a clever collectible card mini-game, the map is full of question marks which indicated events like hidden treasures, abandoned places that you can clear out, places of power that give you ability points and boost you and the list goes on and on.
The gameplay may take a little while, but for seasoned console players it´s going to be easy. The combat is fluid and diversed, you have two types of sword, silver and steel, one for monsters and the other for humans, in addition Geralt can also use the crossbow and he has the ability to cast signs which are kind of a lesser magical power, you also have the ability to craft weapons and armor to customize Geralt, and also potions, which give you boosts and are very useful when facing thougher creatures. There are finishing moves and they are brutal and amazing to be honest.
This game is a must-buy, it´s silly not to, it offers tons of re-playability and it´s so interesting and addicting that if you don´t buy it you´ll be missing on a mark of gaming. It´s hands down one of the most brilliant RPG´s I have ever played.

This game is what I've been waiting for so long. Truly immersive story line, where you really care about what happens next. Don't know how it goes for English version, but Polish voice acting is just great with lot of sense of humour. I already stopped counting hours spent playing Witcher 3, cause it's pointless. I know I cannot stop until it's finished.

This game is near perfect. I could honestly be contempt to just say that and be done with it because near perfect describes this game perfectly. Rather than focusing on the entirety of this game like most reviewers are, I am going to focus one aspect of the game, the story.

"Why the story?", You may ask, to which I reply, because I got the bad ending and still feel gratified with my result. It's invoked powerful emotional responses in me which I have only found in other mediums like film and literature. I think the best part about the story is that there is never the illusion of choice. Everything you do has consequences, and some that you might not think would happen. You could do something that you believe to be the right thing which in the end leads to something horrible. Many decisions are very morally grey too. Do you kill 12 bandits to save one woman? The obvious answer is yes but when you see the woman horrified that you've just killed 12 men without hesitation, you question your code of morality as a whole. When a game has you make a decision that's great, but when you make a decision in a game and it makes you question how you makes decisions in real life, that is when a game is just as much art as Stairway to heaven, Lord of the Rings, 1984, and The Mona Lisa. If those who seek to undermine games as an art form where to play this game I am certain that 99% of their opinions would change.

I also need to mention some thing that people usually criticize. Some people are annoyed by Geralt's "tough guy **** pose", but there is something you need to understand. It's more deep than you think. Geralt was taken as a kid to be mutated in painful trials to become a mutant monster slayer without any feelings. In his particular case, the mutation didn't go perfectly. He didn't lose his feelings. He is actually a very empathetic person but you would have to read the books to understand the psychological side. To stay sane in this world he had to kill his feelings himself. Years of killing monsters and watching atrocities he couldn't prevent or do anything about made him like this. He just has "eyes that had seen too much".

The Witcher 3's open world as well as the Main, Secondary and Witcher Missions are fantastic. Simply put, it is refreshing to have an open world game that didnt miss the mark like Dragonage: Inquisition.

Probably never before i was captivated by open world then in this game. It is huge. And i mean HUGE! There a tons of activities, and every one of them is interesting, it keeps you going further, explore and etc. Gameplay is outstanding. Fights are incredibly done, they are brutal, so as this world. Graphics are amazing. Music! What a score and especially during battles - great stuff. Voice acting was superb by all involved. Just to thing how much effort was put into creating every single thing and detail in this game is mind blowing. To be honest i wasn't a fan of "Witcher II", haven't even played the first one. But after finishing "Wild Hunt" i can safely say - count me in for (hopefuly) next installments. This is simply one of the very best games ever created.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This will probably go down as of the best games to come out in the last 2-3 years. The game does everything right from the combat to the character to graphics and story. Everything is brilliantly done. Sure there are a few glitches and the positioning of the candles are very frustrating the game itself is fantastic and is the best in its series which in itself is a big achievement considering how good witcher 2 was. The characters in the game are very interesting to interact with and the side mission are just as interesting. You get a variety of monsters that you can discover and kill by taking on witcher contracts, you can do side quests for different character to get a better idea about them. Even if you aren't doing the main missions there are still a lot of interesting quests to do. You can do treasure hunts, witcher contracts and even game gwent. The story is simply brilliant and there are moments when you can even see Geralt on the verge of shedding a tear.
All things considered this arguably is the best game out on the next gen consoles as of today.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a concoction of all the great RPG of the last decade. You will feel and see the accolades of games such as Dragon Age and Skyrim. I personally see glimmers of Dark Souls.

The narrative deserves an Academy-Award, and so does the Original Score: the Composers Mikolai Stroinski, Marcin Przybyłowicz and Percival have created a cacophony of sounds that only some games are fortunate to have.

Truly you are able to see the care and detail CD Projekt Red has put into the final installment in their critically-acclaimed series.

Now, one may ask. Is this game the best thing since slice bread? And my honest answer would be no, this game does have some flaws, even now two months after release i am still experiencing glitches and annoying bugs. Stupid things as my horse blocking the way out of a building, or the age old cliche of falling out of the world. But, apart from that, the game is... well... perfect.

It you love combat style of both Dragon Age and Skyrim, imagine them two combined together, that is what you get when you buy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developer mixes the combat up, you will need to think before you strike. Some enemies you'll need to have a tactical approach against and some other you'll be able to kill with not a second thought.

If you love RPG's like me then this game is an unquestionable- must buy. 10/10

Perfect 10, great example of what Next Gen gaming is capable when savants are programming a game. Not only does CD Projekt Red Studio come up with a visually stunning atmosphere from sun rise to sunset, that will put your GFX to the redline for breath taking landscapes. They offer a free DLC program with over 10Gigs of free updates. Witcher fans are eating up the free content. The story line, dialogue, and characters are original and easy to become involved in decisions that will shape the entire kingdom. You can either pillage and steal, kill with no remorse, or save lives and be the hero. Your actions cause a ripple in the entire gaming world. This game is any thing but linear, which you can take over 40 hours of game play away from the main story line without even touching on the possibilities of the game. From dungeon crawling, to monster slaying, to rescuing the damsel in distress, you can even over throw tyrants and war lords. Even the way you decide to kill werewolves or let them live, will have consequences to pay hours down the road. Not one person will have the same experience as the next as the gaming engine pushes the possibilities and the sky is the limit. Great replay value.

Geralt has retired and hopefully no amount of 'COIN' to CDprojekt will bring him back or I will lose their respect, let your word be your bond. THAT DOESN'T MEAN a WITCHER 4 cant be made, it just means Geralt must be allowed to rest in our minds.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt shows that the series fortunately evolved and matured with their fans. It is a truly adult game, with plenty to do and many exciting moments. The ultimate story of Geralt of Rivia goes beyond the wizard itself and introduces the "new generation" of The Witcher pantheon.
Wild Hunt maintains the brightness of great production and impresses every minute.

Definitely in the top 3 games I've played on PS4 (or PC for that matter). Definitely worth the money, no question about it. You're choices have a tangible impact on how the game ends and how characters/places change - for better or worse.

Amazing graphics and music - found myself quite happy to just explore the world and find new questing areas / things to do - and there's plenty.

Amazing graphics and music - found myself quite happy to just explore the world and find new questing areas / things to do - and there's plenty. Characters have been extremely well developed and have real grit about them. Lots of 'love' interests (always good). Monsters are diverse with interesting combat mechanics. Alchemy is great and well worth investing in. Nothing bad to say really- apart from some stupid choices I made in the game leaving me lonely and a little lost in the end - but hey... maybe that's just me.

Pro tip - make manual save games often. As once you finish the game, you may want to see what happens when you make a different dialogue choice and if you haven't got a relevant save game, sorry big guy, you're going back to the start.

The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
