My favorite game on PS4 and possibly the best open world game ever made. I absolutely loved the Witcher 3. I've never played a game that was so consistently good for so long. The characters, voice acting and dialogue are all top notch. The main missions are outstanding and the side missions are just as good. This a must play game if you like open world RPGs.

The way this game makes you feel after you finish it... no other game has come close to having that effect. Not to say it's perfect, but I imagine this is as good as a video game gets. The main story is well written with engaging dialogue and compelling characters. The W3 world is absolutely massive and full of immersive activities that show the amount of care put into creating them.

    - The level of presentation in terms of graphics, animations, interfaces, and all other visual elements are unprecedented in role-playing games. Bugs are often very minor. The attention to detail in this game is staggering.
    - A wide variety of gameplay opportunities that are all very detailed and varied.
    - Combat isn't anything revolutionary... but it works as it was intended to. That being said, the game controls very well.
    - Despite having never played the original 2 games, I never felt lost in the story or how the world works.
    - Respectable business model. The two expansions are just as, if not more detailed than the main game and are well-worth their price. There's no paywalls, season passes, or any other ****

    Cons
    - The game's portrayal of men versus women are skewed at times. This is more of an issue with side characters that are insignificant in the grand scheme of the game.

It's really pointless writing an in-depth review of a game such as this. It's just unnecessary. The reader doesn't need information with which to make a purchasing decision, This is simply a "must own".

What I will say is that I have been gaming seriously for close to 25 years now and have played pretty much everything in that time (bar a few exceptions). I never played The Witcher and I really couldn't get into The Witcher 2, as I found the world very restricted and the combat appalling.

Witcher 3 is possibly the best game I have ever played. I'm not sure whether anything here is revolutionary but Project Red have basically taken every good idea from games such as Skyrim, Fable, Red Dead Redemption, World of Warcraft etc and created something that surpasses them all. It's the attention to detail here that really boggles the mind. This game has been designed with the player in mind and what would make their lives easier whilst allowing and encouraging the freedom to roam and explore a magical world.

I have never experienced such a desolate, war-strewn and desperate land in all gaming and it really lives and breathes due to stunning weather and day/night cycles. I've sunk over 20 hours into it so far and have barely scratched the surface and the single complaint i have is that it's too easy to steal items whilst their owners simply stare at you. But anyway, here are a few of my scores about aspects of this title:

    Story and lore 10
    Voice acting 10
    Graphics 10
    Music and sound 9
    Combat Mechanics 9

Not long ago the second and final DLC for the Witcher 3 was released. In honor of that, I'm doing a long-overdue review of the whole game, including both DLCs. The first could be completed just before the end of the main Wild Hunt campaign (but is best done post-game), the second should definitely be post-game. With that out of the way ...

I have not played Witcher 1 or 2 (mainly because they were not on Playstation), and I wish I had. Because this game is EPIC. Not only does the main campaign feature an amazing story, each of the two side campaigns have their own unique stories which are maybe even more compelling than the main plot.

The Witcher takes place in a pseudo-European, dark fantasy world based on books by the same name. A long time ago this world overlapped with others in an event called the Conjunction of Spheres. A bunch of creatures from those other worlds became trapped in our world. Some of these are elves and such, but most are vampires. To fight these, people created witchers--mutant monster hunters with superhuman abilities. Only later, they decided witchers were kind of like monsters too, and they hated them. Until they need one.

The world is deliciously dark--which I love--and draws a lot of inspiration from Slavic mythology. It's not all Slavic myth, though. You have other fantasy/myth staples here and there, like djinn and so forth.

It's a massively open world reminiscent of Skyrim. I mean HUGE, with so many places to explore, quests to complete, and monsters to hunt you could basically invest a bazillion hours into the game and not do everything.

Gameplay took a little getting used to at first. Once I got the hang of it (hint, dodge monsters, parry humans), though, it ran fairly smoothly. I played it mostly as a swordsman, but you can customize Geralt to focus more on alchemy or signs (magic) and all styles of play are intended to be effective. The DLC introduces further options for customization and even a use for ability points once you have otherwise reached the cap.

I played on the medium difficulty, which only occasionally proved challenging. The combat system was rewarding and never grew tedious.

What I think I liked even more than that, though, was the plot. Witcher stars Geralt and occasionally his adopted daughter Ciri. It also gives a lot of time and development to numerous NPCs in ways that make your choices seem like they actually matter. In this way, the game is somewhat reminiscent of Dragon Age games, though I found the story more compelling in Witcher. Unlike in the former, I never got bored in dialog with NPCs, never felt compelled to skip ahead.

I highly recommend this game. 10 out of 10.

The characters are well-written, the story is amazing with considerable depth, the difficulty can be excruciating at higher settings (and there's 4 difficulty settings, how often do you see that?), the exploration is endless, the interface and opportunities for character optimization are top notch, and the graphics...well, you don't need a review to tell you how incredible the graphics are. This isn't just GOTY, this is Game of the Last 15 Years. The only RPGs you can't rightfully place this above are classics like Planescape, Fallout 2, and Baldur's Gate.

The people complaining about the combat system are probably used to simpler combat mechanics and crutches like auto-adjust cameras and action bars. This isn't 2005 anymore kiddies, time to improve your dexterity.

The minor issues that can be annoying are the loading times (which seem short compared to games like Bloodborne but still noticeably long, especially if you're playing on Death March difficulty and die frequently), there's some pathing issues with the auto-run feature while riding Roach, the quest paths can bug out on the map overlay, and being a horse Roach should not have the hurdling issues that he does with some basic obstacles like rocks and felled trees. Regardless of these, the game is as close to perfect as you'll ever see. This game will be the measuring stick for RPGs for years to come.

First of all the story telling in this game is one of the best I have ever experienced. The main story is very good paced. The Baron quest line is one of the best in RPG games ever. The story is so full of emotions, tough decisions and twists. Every quest has a story and a background and always two or sometimes even more ways to end it.
The World of the Witcher is vast and rich with encounters, NPC and more. You got big cities, small villages, forts and ruins to explore. Caves and mountain tops to discover. Yes it has zones it's not one big open world game but one thing in it what is amazing. No loading screens. Enter a cave? A house? A City? A castle? No loading screen! This is how you should do it.
Combat is very fluid and you can do it how you want it. Sword fighting, signs (aka magic), potions, traps and bombs. Fast and sneaky or slow and tanky? You can play it how you want it.
There is a lot more equipment and upgrades then in previous games. Swords, axes, crossbows and a lot of different armor parts to chose from. You have different armor sets that are tied in to quests and give you some back story to different Witcher schools.
Graphic wise Witcher 3 is the best looking game in 2015 period. Yes on PC it requires a powerful machine but on console you still get a medium to high experience. The game just looks beautiful. The character models, the landscape and weather effects. Lightning effects and shadows are amazing. And every zone has its own look and feel to it.
All and all a great game and one of the best RPG in gaming history. The best game of this year by a mile.

    The Good:

*Story - I can't say enough (now that I'm really 75% done with the game - something no one who reviewed it the first week could say) how the story here is the bread and butter. NPCs have never been more memorable or believable. Side quests are more like "side stories" where Geralt stars as super-fantasy detective rather than fetch quests. Counterpoint: There are so many stories that even this new inventive quest style feels a bit stale by the end of it unless you take breaks.

*The World - The first 10 - 30 hours of Witcher 3 are dominated by the swamp lands and plains of No Man's Land and White Orchard. I believe Developers would totally change White Orchard now if they could and give it the grand depth of Skellege and some of the more remote parts of the world. It's huge, it's got everything you want to see from a western fantasy RPG. Counterpoint: There is nothing here that hasn't been done in western RPGS before - nothing like the hard-to-imagine landscapes Final Fantasy creates.

*Crafting & Loot: Collecting and upgrading Witcher Gear is a blast. There are 5 sets (Serpent, Bear, Wolf, Griffin, Cat) and each has at least 4 tiers of upgrades. The plans for these upgrades are hidden throughout the world in usually inventive out-of-the-way places that are fun to experience and explore. The gear looks very cool - and by the time you get it to high level, the complete look for Geralt is something you'll enjoy seeing in cut scenes, and you even have a passive ability you can level up to enhance the gear you wear based on type. Counterpoint: You don't have enough storage to keep all the gear you'd like to build and mats so the game forces too much inventory management to enjoy the crafting system fully

    The Bad:

*The Controls - Everyone agrees this is the worst part of the game. It's worst when you are trying to talk to someone or open a chest and you are right next to them yet you cannot click on them. You tap your controller and you somehow bump into them, causing a scene and not helping. Totally breaks immersion. In battle the controls are bad as well - but not as annoying as interacting with npcs and objects. Particularly, the roll often over shoots and objects from the environment that shouldn't cause enemies to be out of reach. (I didn't talk about the horse, but I could have). Counterpoint: The devs have released several patches to improve the worst aspects of the game. I do believe this will improve moving forward.

*The Difficulty - The game is cake - literally. I started on normal, was at hard by hour 20 and was at hardest difficulty by hour 40. I suggest all serious gamers start on the hardest setting. Why? Because it's most fun to play when you engage with the systems and role play Geralt. You're a monster hunting detective and you need to use everything at your power to overcome these awesome beasts. Epic battles where you worry about your potions and sign use are far more satisfying than hack-n-slash that happens at normal difficulty. I do hope an extra hard setting is released along with NG+ at some point. Counterpoint: This seems like the type of balancing that can still take place, so maybe this complaint goes away.

*The Size - no matter how you slice it, the game is so big it's overwhelming. There is simply no way to do everything in it with any reasonable expectation of finishing soon. It must be handled like Skyrim and Fallout - given over to those games that you just accept you may never do everything in. The problem with this is that the way its presented really wants to make you see everything in it more than Skyrim. This produces fatigue at a certain point. Counterpoint: Anything lengthy produces fatigue - like a Marathon, or getting a law degree. So you just need to weigh if Witcher 3 is still delivering on what you want out of video games or if there is something else out there. I don't really see this as a serious complaint, but it is true and I do feel fatigue and need to seek other games to play every so often.

For me - the 10 represents that I've spent more time and obsessed more over this world than I have any other game in years. I highly recommend it.

Dozens and dozens of main quests and side quests its never ending. Not to mention just exploring the beautiful but dangerous world looking for all the cool armor schematics and all the other cool collectibles.

Graphics are excellent, characters, foreground and background. Awesome voice actors as well. Mostly old English accents. The story line is incredible. So adult and mature and ever exciting. As other people have said the attention to detail on this game is ridiculous. Unlike some RPG's, you are well rewarded for completing all the side quests and Witcher contracts.

Levelling up is top class. You have the choice on which area to use your reward points, combat, magic, character etc etc. I could go on forever. When modern game developers are seemingly always in a hurry to rush out a poor game for a quick buck, you can just feel how much effort has been put into making this game it almost feels a privilege to play it.

Well done to the guys in Poland at CD Projekt Red, you have set the bar for all future RPG's. A well deserved 10/10 from me!

The gameplay is fantastic. Beautiful graphics complement the fascinating storyline littered with interesting characters and quests. The quests are varied and span across a highly detailed massive world map. Combat is tight and controls work very well. The music is stunning and the voice acting perfect. There is so much to do and achieve and the game will last way over 100 hours. I highly recommend this awesome game. Expand

The gameplay is also fun in a beat-em up kind of way. The game lets you play with different styles and I chose fast and agile. By the final boss, I felt like I was playing on easy mode. Animations could have been smoother for the protagonist but then I say that about every game.

The inventory system was the only negative. This was a real throwback to a bad time in inventory and shop management. It would be better to leave all the rusty swords on the ground and let the protagonist focus on the story. It's a small to pay, though, for such a gorgeous game.

If you haven't played the Witcher 3, you are missing out on the best game this generation. I guarantee it.

From the main story quests, secondary quests, contracts and treasure hunt, the developers have crafted each quest to make you care, to make you eagerly complete the quest to see the exciting outcome. From hunting down monsters across the vast open world, to simply helping an old lady get her frying pan pack, you care. That for me is what makes this game a 10. The lore is so fascinating, the combat is exhilarating, leveling crafting and alchemy have so much depth, and I can't even begin to tell you how much time I have put into the (mini)game gwent; all of what I listed adds to experience, but again it is how the game makes you care and in turn makes you cautious with your decision making. Every choice has a consequence and a lot of choices come down to choosing the lesser of two evils, however it is this choice that makes the game feel so grounded in reality. Your actions have consequences, Every time you have a choice (at least for myself) you take time to consider what is the best options for Geralt and for the world he lives in. In conclusion, the game is just so good, and if any developer has ever earned your $60 dollars it's without a doubt CDPR.

Skill tree, combat systems and creation of useful stuffs such as various types of bombs along with equipments, makes the game complete. Also, the support by developer aka CD projekt was essential. ( Unlike **** ea ). Huge maps to explore and value added DLC does do justice to the game. My over all experience with the game is stunningly good. Worth calling it a masterpiece.

The World - Perfect open-world with a huge amount of details. Graphic is great. Character designs are god-like, they feel so real. Game length is so immense. I spent like 20 hours and I think I haven't reached 10% of the game yet.

Story - Very good, no complain. (but I think witcher 2 is better in the beginning part, well, I think I have to play more, I havn't finished the game yet)

Combat System - works very well. Although, if you compare with Bloodborne, you may feel that it is a little clunky. Well you need to know that Bloodborne is expert in that area so it will be hard for any game to surpass that. However, Witcher 3 combat system also has its own merits. You need to stay with it for a while. Be more patient, this game does not want you to be as aggressive as blood borne but to be mindful and strategic.

Music - Don't see any flaw in this area. Voice acting is great

Additional point - You can play card game in Witcher 3 + you get a real map from your box and good manual hard copy.

That is all, In sum, If you like Skyrim, this game is a must play for you. If you have never played RPG open world before, this game is a good epitome for you to see what a perfect open-world rpg game is, you should give it a try. If you don't like Skyrim, there is a high chance you will not like this game also.

The fact the were able to create a very detailed day/night cycle, and dynamic weather is just a plus to the already great environments.

The voice acting is superb, but be careful if you have children around because much of it relies on having a mature audience with a sense of humor. The amount of creatues in the game is astounding. Most RPGs you come across 10 or so different creatures, and that is it. Then you will repeat the cycle with the same creatues over and over. There are an enormous amount of different type of creatures in this game, or those close to the series, "monsters." The attention to detail is amazing. I came across a farmer in game that was shoveling in a field, and his shovel would enter the ground empty, and when it came back up, there was a shovel full of dirt. Once he tossed the shovel, you could actually see the dirt being tossed off. Another example was a kid playing in a stream, and you could actually see the water ripple as he moved his hands through it.

I haev seen several reviews where people have given the game a low score based solely, and only, on the reasoning they can't create their own character. I find it utterly amusing someone would waste their time to write a negative review about this when they should have know well in advance that Geralt is the main character of the game and the book. What ever made them think they were going to be able to alter the story given in the books is beyond me. It is an adventure about Geralt of Rivia, not John Doe of Pocono.

The characters and the story are impressively worked out as if the game is a quality novel itself. The same quality story telling as Witcher 2. The open world is large and you can enter plenty of buildings. This is why this open world is more impressive than GTA5, because in GTA 5 you can not enter buildings. The weather and day/night cycle are also dynamic and impressive. The wind really let the trees shake. Does it has flaws? Some minor. The controls are not always perfect during battles and sometimes you will experience framedrops in cities. But that are minor points against a game that is the new milestone in gaming. Any linear game looks completely outdated against this game. CD Project Red set the bar very high for this game and somehow managed to deliver. I would give it a 95 score. Geralt himself is easily the best character in video game history. The characters he encounters the NPC's, the friends and enemies are all unique and varied. Enemy AI is fantastic, each type of monster operates differently and distinctly to the others.
The amount of time and love CDPR has put into this game is astronomical, and it shows. Its the first game I've ever played where I can happily wander around and just soak up the environments.
And Gwent! Who would've thought that this little side-game could be as good as it is and as addictive.
There's so many things going on in Witcher 3 and at first it was super daunting, but like everything you've just got to keep putting one step in front of the other.
I've played Bloodborne and Fallout 4 and they simply have nothing on Witcher 3. I just love it, there are no other words and not enough praise can be placed upon this game. The fact that CDPR are continually supporting and adding to it is a testament to this work of art they've allowed us to experience.

What's remarkable is the time the developers even spent on side missions. Many are varied and there's self contained stories throughout the game waiting to be uncovered. Mixed in is a side game called Gwent which is a pretty fun card game and had me putting about 20 hours or more. It's fun going all over the world searching for new players and earning new cards.

The open world is massive and the best I've ever experienced, along with the day/night time change it adds a level of depth to it all. I urge anyone that is on the fence to give it a try, the story, voice acting and character models are all excellent. The combat is fun and varied, similar to games like the Batman Arkham, Shadows of Mordor combat. It requires a great deal more skill on harder difficulties.

It makes me truly wish they made this into a TV series, in the hands of a good company like HBO or Netflix it could rival Game of Thrones.

The main quest involves exchanging information with various individuals for information on Ciri's location, your adopted daughter. It may feel slightly padded out, but is gripping nonetheless. Where this game shines is in the side quests, which also involve Witcher contracts, where you gotta kill monsters for your paycheck. It almost brings a detective-like gameplay element, I quite like it. Every single side quest has obsessive attention to detail, and, in my opinion, are better than the main quest itself.
The combat could use improvements. It may get repetitive at times, and the controls may sometimes get wonky, but it is still fun, with cool swordplay and magic. With each level tou gain, you can invest in certain skills to eventually unlock new and powerful moves.
The open world is absolutely gorgeous and dense with stuff to do. There will be many moments where you'll turn off your HUD and take a screenshot. With the latest updates, the framerate is a very stable 30 fps.
All in all, what makes Witcher 3 one of the best games of this generation, and my personal favourite RPG, is the story.
This game WILL consume a lot of your time, around 50 hours for just the main story. And youre gonna love it.
There will be some instances which require Witcher 1/2 knowledge, so I recommend reading the Compendium (included in the boxed game).
    Game of the Year material.

Its satisfying, violent, swift and punchy combat compliments the deep lore and many storylines that the player comes across in the form of side quests or as small stories during the main quest. What amazed me is that all these little storylines are so mature that even though this is a fantasy game, it makes you feel that its characters are very human; you can feel their pain, misery, desperation as well as their hope to make things better.
The world is absolutely massive, but as wide as it is, it is also deep. I want to explore every nook and cranny because every spot hides something interesting.
The leveling system is superb, with a lot of depth that presents itself slowly enough so that it can be digested and eventually mastered.
Everything in this game has a ton of layers to peel and while it is a challenging game, it nonetheless makes you feel like a superhuman badass that goes from hunting haunting beasts to subtly uncovering the human inside of Geralt and everybody else in its diverse cast of characters.
Sure, there are glitches and bugs here and there, but it's a humongous world with hundreds of quests, armor, weapons, etc and everything is done in a masterful game.
Not only this is full of quality, but its quantity is probably unbeatable. I expect to put in this hundreds of hours, so its value cannot be underestimated.
To conclude, this is one of the best games I've ever played; something I just can't put down even though I spent a lot of hours in this world. But, for me, the undoubtable star of the show is its densely layered, rich, mature and always-interesting storylines, side-quests included.

Witcher 3 is a step forward in RPG's, It shows just how big and immersive you can make a modern day RPG. Every little thing you do in The Witcher 3 could come back full circle to you, even the smallest things. The story of The Witcher games have all been good mostly thanks to the Witcher Books the series is based off.But Witcher 3 follows suit for the most part, at times you feel like your just running from A to B to help someone so they will in turn help you by giving you info for the 2 people you are looking for.But that IS what a "Witcher" is he is a hired monster killer and you do lots of that. Harpies,Griffins,Spirits and Cannibals are just a few of the foes you have to decapitate and cut in half. The combat in the game is very smooth and feels great, All enemies have there own weaknesses and strengths you need to learn and use against them. Some being Oils or Potions you can craft to make you stronger against that type of foe or a time of day that is better to fight it. The developer CD Project Red worked extremely hard on bringing the best possible experience they could to the PS4 and Xbox One, The game still suffers from some frame rate issues and stuttering but it doesn't stop you from enjoying the game very much. The PC version of the game is much better in that subject (If you have a good PC). But regardless of how the game runs if your a fan of RPGs you owe it to yourself to give your Time to "The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt" and it's lots of time trust me, you differently get your moneys worth. Considering how much the predecessors have improved with their enhanced editions, we can expect this game to become a milestone in RPG history, similar in significance to Baldur's Gate!

    Graphics, gameworld, design:
Sure, the demo footage looked even more awesome. But this is still one of the best-looking games I've ever seen. Not only because of polygons and shaders, but even more so due to an extraordinarily detailed and realistic world. All armors, buildings, NPC's and landscapes look like they had a bunch of historians on their payroll. Light and weather effects are much better than everything I've seen before, Dragon Age 3 and moddded Skyrim included. Furthermore, while magic exists in this world, it is more of a rare curiosity, not disturbing the realistic, dirty and immersive medieval setting. If a person gets crippled, it stays crippled - no quick spell of a mage will change that. Dead people stay dead, even if necromancy might force them to utter some last words in a fascinatingly disgusting fashion. This changes a lot, because you really care if someone tortures or injures your friends. Also, human cruelty has never been portrayed so believably except maybe for the first Dragon Age. In a direct comparison to Skyrim, the motivations of villains are far more believable - no mad cults without understandable reason, no simple villagers resorting to cannibalism just for the exquisite taste. The evil is never pure black, and you can always understand why people join evil groups like the witch hunters.

    Story:
While I only finished somewhere between 50-70% of the main story so far (or so I guess), I can already tell that the quality of writing is outstanding. This game contains a few of the most memorable moments in my two decade gaming career. And they haven't even used any "ultimate fight of good vs evil" moments so far. This is the story of Geralt and his friends. You aren't the center of the world, which is a good and refreshing change to Bioware. Bioware should also take an example regarding the quality of side quests, which are in large parts just as well-written as the main story.

    Gameplay:
Geralt is a predefined hero with a huge background history. This is a good thing for story reasons (especially if you played TW1 or TW2 or read the books), but limits gameplay a little. He rarely wields maces or axes, the crossbow has only a very small role in combat, and there are only 5 spells with a variant for each. Still, you feel like a professional monster hunter in each second, and each spell, potion or bomb is interesting. There are a few minor issues like the cluttered inventory, the rather pointless abundance of useless loot and some controls worth optimizing, but all this never makes the game significantly less fun to play. Overall, the gameplay is (very?) good, but not as extraordinary as story, gameworld and immersion. Luckily, you never care much. I find myself opening the character screen only every third level-up or so - seiing events unfold is just more interesting. And quite a few times I was so drawn in that I ended up in bed three hours later than planned ;-)

Generally I find myself bored with side quests in games because they feel like mundane fetch quests or have weak stories. In the Witcher 3 each side quest will make you feel invested in the story and give you something fun to do on the way. My fiance wants me to play this game all day so she can watch the amazing story unfold. The writing is good and only sometimes you'll find yourself off put by the dialogue. The choices you can make in the game feel like they have weight to them. The soundtrack is beautiful, scary, and just downright chilling. The music is seriously too good. The physical copy came with the soundtrack on disc and I love it. There is just too much to say about this game. It is a game that takes you to a new world. It makes you want to be there. You feel like Geralt, a monster hunting, mutated, sexy, cunning, bad ass mother ******.

There are a few bugs with in the game, but nothing that kills the experience and CD Projekt Red works hard to fix them.

all about the game has been told so far in countless reviews, so ill just point these subtle things that make it much better than dragon-age-inquisition-like games :
-customizable hud - you want to fully sink into the world, why not disabling a map and instead start asking for directions around, same goes with inventory, hints etc - huge plus for that
-no more dull 'get 10 shards' side
all about the game has been told so far in countless reviews, so ill just point these subtle things that make it much better than dragon-age-inquisition-like games :
-customizable hud - you want to fully sink into the world, why not disabling a map and instead start asking for directions around, same goes with inventory, hints etc - huge plus for that
-no more dull 'get 10 shards' side quest - right now a side quest is a non-forced little story that makes this game even more 'real' and you will quickly find out that nothing is black or white :)
-no more saving the world hurr durr - Geralt is a monster-hunter, not a prophet, world saver or some other nonsense - the main quest is personal, remember The last of us ?
-reality - you cant jump off the cliff with a horse ;))), you jump off from ~7meters as Geralt = youre dead, doesnt matter how much health you have
-fighting ! its somehow similiar to shadow of mordor, yet a little bit less responsive, but requires a skill and tactical approach (as every enemy fights in other manner)
-medieval lenguage (at least in my lenguage version) - its A M A I Z I N G while it comes to building an atmosphere
-truly dark fantasy vibe - if you find a thief, he'll get hanged on a tree - no merciful 2nd chance **** like in other rpgs
-the world is huge and full of things to explore

the only con i have found is that you cannot attack civilians/nonhostiles - and sometimes they are pretty disrespectful during the conversation - a punch in the face would be a great use here, and would fit the storytelling perfectly but you cannot do it :(

Probably one of the top 5 games i have EVER played. Yes the story is long and drawn out at times, but it adds to the overall feel for the game. The camera is a bit weird at times, ESPECIALLY when trying to loot. But the fights feel epic, and it has a great balance between difficulty and gameplay to keep me coming back.

Breathtaking landscapes, great combat system, immersive story, with high replay value, this is a game that every game should own and complete as a part of their library. The characters stick with you long after you finish the story. The world is large enough to explore to keep you busy for hours and months and is understandable why they're spreading out the expansion packs. The conclusion of Geralt’s game saga couldn’t be better. The large open world, great storytelling and dozens of hours of pure fun – this game is an absolute must for every RPG fan. [Issue#253]

This truly outstanding game raises the bar to new heights that will be extremely hard to reach for BioWare, Bethesda and any other developer. [07/2015, p.38]

The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
