This game is an absolutely awesome time vampire! I honestly have no complaints aside from a few bugs here and there but nothing too freak out about. CD Project Red should have just made this game an MMORPG. There is so much in this game and it's just so good, you don't want it to end.

Take a bit of Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, The Wolf Among Us and add following ingrediences: most beautiful and dense open World ever created, hard but rewarding combat and the most memorable side quests ever created from which many are dramatic storylines on its own. This masterpiece is what you get!

It's Story, characters, dialogue, quest/world/creature design are second to none of this genre. The world design can only be described as the most immersive, belieavable ecosystem ever crafted in any video game with an art style and atmosphere that perfectly captures architecture of mid european cities/village communities of it's historical time. Graphics, voice acting and music are of the highest quality. Gameplay is vastly improved from previous title...it is still not as responsive as Bloodborne or has the same quality of animations such Arkham series, however it more than makes up for it with an amazing variety of creatures and different types of AI, preparation through alchemy, learning your foes' weaknesses through extensive bestiary, use of magic signs that you can also use on your environment to give you advantage, as well as other tools at your disposal such as bombs, crossbow etc.
It is not without rough spots though...such as UI( Inventory system), AI ( horse riding), controls and camera as well as suffering from no small number of bugs/glitches. Honestly, until CDPR takes care of these things, I would give it a 9...however I'm rating it a bit higher to negate childish stupidity of those who downvote this game because they feel threatened by any game that surpasses their favorite title.
This is not merely another great game...it's place lies next to titles such as Chronotrigger, Half Life, Morrowind and others...games that mark a generation and leave higher standards for others to follow.

Rating a game with a 10 is no easy deed, given that nothing is perfect - ever. This is, basically, the only negative comment that I have for Witcher 3. What makes this game a 10 is everything else: a more engaging story than anything since Baldur's Game 3 is the strongest point. Although we live in a time where traditional turn-based RPGs are very few and not as exciting, this game managed something that, to me, seemed impossible: making an RPG game that can stand up to the unique experience of the RPG games of old.
Merely by means of its storytelling, this is a game that everyone that does not absolutely despise fantasy, should play.
Furthermore, this game is exceptionally good in all its other aspects. A vast, real, alive world, with incredible production vlaues that can only compared to those of the GTA series, only this is better. Excellent graphics that will make you doubt where all these millions spent by Bethesda for games like Fallout end up being spent, user friendy gameplay (for all levels and difficutlies), and written dialogue of the highest literary quality.
I cannot but recommend this game for its achievements, which have apparently made it the winner of hundreds of awards, and I strongly believe that any person who respects gaming should try it.
For RPG fans, I have one final comment: this may actually be better than Baldur's Gate II...!
I have not decided whether it is. but i never thought that contemplating this thought would even be possible, what with all the "open world" sandbox RPGs they sell these days, which focus on graphics, graphics and forget to tell a story.
So, if you do love real RPGs, you must play this game! Abandon all other games! PLAY THIS ONE! NOW !!!

A few visual bugs, but nothing to seriously, i recommend to every RPG fan.

CD Projekt and The Witcher have been rising stars in the industry since the first game , this third episode is suppose to be the last of this franchise so will Geralt go out in a bang ?

Of course he will (like you probably read it a thousand times before) everything in the game is at least very good, beginning by its technical attributes, the games looks pretty for a RPG this big with nice light effects, large amounts of details and good textures in general, some visual glitches that are almost mandatory for games with that much content are the only bad side of the game, but they will not bother your gameplay experience, the framerate is steady and I didn't encounter any major issue during my 140 hours spend on this game.

Gameplay wise the game offers a lot of thing, good investigations//hunts, exploration, grasping fights that are challenging when they need to be with, like the previous games of the franchise there is a great alchemy system that adds a tactical side to the fighting (probably the best fighting I've seen in any A-RPG), the best mini game of the world aka Gwent that is becoming a stand alone on its own now, etc. They implemented a lot of ideas in the game and all of them work great for the global experience of the game, it just feels natural without being assisted. Kudos to CD Projekt they clearly are talented.

Finally concerning the story, once again it's a masterpiece they succeed to make an epic main quest, a lot of detailed side quests, some are equally epic, some are funny, some are heartbreaking, etc. All together they make for 100 hours of gameplay for the basic game, but I would truly recommend every one to take both extensions as well they have the same qualities with new awesome characters, monsters, locations, and of course plots and once again you'll get plenty of content, around 40 hours (which could be a full game, even two from other studios), for less than 30€/$. But the biggest accomplishment in the writing of this game is that the story works great whether or not you've played the two previous game, whether or not you've read the books (of course you'll catch up tons of reference if you already know the whole story of The Witcher) you'll be hooked to it and be willing to advance in the game and learn more.

In conclusion The Witcher 3 is a must have for every gamer, sure it's not the best looking game ever, but it doesn't matter, it looks good enough and the gameplay works perfectly, it's incredibly full of content and the story is quite possibly the best I've experienced in a video game, at least in recent years, and will leave you some forever lasting memories. Buy this game, buy the expansions, The Witcher is without a doubt one of the greatest franchise in the history of our favorite medium : video games.

The world: At all platforms smooth and so alive, this game really brings you to world of Geralt. The climate changes, and you can fell it, its like when in real life you feel the wind, the clouds closing the sun, and you know its gonna rain. In TW3 you know that without even looking to sky, just because of animals, the foliage, the wind... Gorgeous.

RPG: This is an action rpg right? Yes, but its so rich, potions, alchemy, magic, swords, shields, bow, xbox, they're not simple weapons to use, they're something else, they defines you, you cant just simple use them, you need to master it, enjoy and understand each weapon. The level, the customization is everything in this game, you cant simply add ability points, you need to link that with your combat style, with your way to play, with your way of live in this world. Books, stories. Imagine a Skyrim with more dense and fluid combat system, add an alive world that changes all times by your actions and decisions, now, you're only 10% of what TW3 is capable.

Quests: They dont exist only to you level up, gear up, or end the story... They exist to make this world alive, i hate sidequests, but here you cant ignore them, they're as rich as the main ones. This game defines next-gen RPG.

Actors/NPC: Facial expressions, finest voice action, fluid smooth, you imagine the NPC is really there, is not just something to tell you the story, they're alive in this world.

Mine final opinion: This a must for an action gamer, a must for an rpg gamer, a must for FPS gamer, a must for everyone. This game change it all, to me it enter the same revolution as: Chrono trigger, First Doom, Final Fantasy 7, Half-life... This is the new level of future rpg, cant imagine if is even possible to match with it. Giving this game 10/10 is unfair, you cant score this game, like you cant score the industrial revolution, the french revolution, WW's.

But its pros FAR outweigh its cons IMHO:

**Memorable, unique, emotional, and fun main quests AND side quests
**Combat is responsive and rewarding to master, especially on harder difficulties
**Gear, skills, and leveling (RPG mechanics) are top-notch
**Monster hunting requires preparation; it's no hack-and-slash on higher difficulties
**Exploration reveals a dense, complex, and interesting world; it doesn't take long to find something to do
    **Voice acting
    **Music
**Environment (day/night cycle and dynamic weather)
**Interesting characters, most of whom are complex and imperfect
**Gwent, an in-game card game, is fun and surprising
**Developers are engaged with fans, and treat them with respect

This is truly a great game.

The controls take a while to get a hold of but that's a good thing. I don't want to just smash the x-button the entire time I play a game. The witcher, and the many different villains that you fight require you to constantly change up your strategy in combat. I like that. Makes it interesting. Keeps it from getting stale.

i love the different types of quests in the game. Some of the Witcher contracts have a nice sense of horror to them. Then there are some (the threesome quest) that have some funny moments to them.

Gwent is one of the best in-game games I've ever experienced. You can literally just play that game for hundreds of hours.

If you are a gamer, I would definitely suggest to play this on the hardest level. I played on normal and it was too easy so i went back and put the difficulty alll of the way up, and it was a much more challenging experience but made me feel much more satisfied.

lastly, without giving too much away, Ciri is one of my favorite characters of all-time. Like Ellie from the Last of Us, I truly started to get emotionally attached to Ciri. I wanted her to be happy and I'm glad that I got the Witcher ending. I would have felt really empty had I thought Ciri died. I would be willing to play the entire game as Ciri btw, who is very fun to use in combat.

In addition the world is perfect. It feels real and lived in- more so than any other open world I have seen. The main thing that sets it apart is your role within that world. In games like Skyrim or Dragon age you ARE the world. The many factions of the world of Skyrim/DA revolve around you and your decisions. This is not the case in the witcher. Rather than being the focus of the world you are but a mere piece of the puzzle. You have an effect on the world, but a realistic effect at that. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. as an older gamer I have less and less interest in games - mostly because of the "young adult" level of story, characters, and dialogue. as much as I enjoyed mass effect, the Elder Scrolls, or dragon age, these games cannot compete with the witcher's story telling. each side quest leads to an interesting story and some morally grey decisions for the player. it is truly one of the best rpg experiences I've ever had, since falling in love with the genre so many years ago.
the only negatives are minor ones (overwhelming inventory, cumbersome menus) but the combat is not one, despite what others are saying here.
the combat has an elegance to it. you must know your enemy and also know what you're capable of. if you mash buttons or underestimate even a weak monster, you'll have troubles. once you figure it out combat becomes a joy as Geralt fluidly removes limb after limb.
a true masterpiece of an rpg.

Poor optimization for console almost ruined this game for me, it looks great and all, but there's too many frame-rate stutters and lag while playing, I think this game could've been GOTY as a whole if it wasn't for these problems, still a masterpiece imo, and 1000000x better than Skyrim.

The game's beauty carries over on all platforms, with PC having an expected, though miniscule advantage over other systems, and a visual style that really pulls you into the world. I can't even count the number of times I had to just stop and enjoy the view, especially during the sunset and sunrise over the horizon.

Witcher 3 isn't just eye candy, though it is undoubtedly beautiful, but it is a genuinly impressive story driven RPG that isn't afraid to play with your emotions during the 30-40 hour campaign. Along the way there are instances where you are put in the shoes of Geralt's ward Ciri, and while the sudden jump in playstyle can be jarring, I found her sections to be equally as enjoyable as Geralt's romp through the main quest.

Gameplay, namely combat, is much improved from The Witcher 2's clunky controls and feels more fluid and satisfying, especially when you take down a paticularily nasty hoard of monsters.

In short, The Witcher 3 is an amazing RPG, Open world adventure, and video game in general that should not be missed.

Absolutely incredible open-world RPG with memorable characters and incredible writing. The mythological and fantasy elements of this game stand beyond the likes of Skyrim and Dark Souls (which is saying something), definitely going to stand as the most memorable game of this decade.

Yes, the might have little bugs here and there, but given the size of the games with the same price as destiny or evolve, you would not get any better deal than Witcher 3.

I'm playing on hard (not the hardest) on PS4 version (about 30 hours in, so far), so these are my impressions:

+ scale (probably not the biggest game on the market, but i would say it's the most complex and dense)
+ visuals (easily the best looking open world game i have ever played)
+ seamless world (love the lack of loadings and the ability to see interiors and exteriors through windows and doors.
+ story, lore and characters (believable world with many mundane stories, brilliant pacing and intriguing characters)
+ no invisible walls (due to the open nature of the world, the ability to swim and the addiction of a jump button, you can basically explore any place)
+ unpredictability (as opposed to the schematic nature of Ubisoft games ['you picked 3 treasures out of 30', 'you climbed 1 tower out of 10', etc], in The witcher 3 everything seems random and natural.
+ exploration (again, due to it's unpredictability, exploration in TW3 couldn't have been more misterious and rewarding)
+ Sound (amazing OST, sound effects and voice acting)
+ content (insane amount of content)
+ gwent (for the first time in my life, i see myself investing hours on a game's minigame)

    - combat (while it's still good, it wasn't greatly improved compared to the previous game)
    - loading times (they are too long, gladly there are few of them)
    - Portuguese subtittles in Brazil but not in Portugal??? This is not acceptable...

The only thing I feel is missing is joining factions, groups, fighter's guildetc. However, The Witcher makes up for this and any other shortcomings (occasional frame rate issues, bugs) with its amazing story and smooth and fluid gameplay. Also, the Gwent card game is addicting.

I absolutely love running through Novigrad. My main criticism, as partially described above, is that I do not feel as close to or a part of the NPC's. Don't get me wrong, the character design is astonishing and you grow to like the characters. I guess the fact that The Witcher is more of an independent protagonist trying to find lost loved ones rather than trying to save the world separates Geralt from the world surrounding him.

Something else I love about this game are the boss fights and the enemy design. It goes right up there with Dragon's Dogma.

This is one of the best RPG I've ever played. Definitely rivals Skyrim, FFVII, and Phantasy Star IV.

Even if this type of RPG isn't your style, there is so much about this game that can be appreciated. The level of stupidity within some of these people writing reviews is absolutely mind blowing.

Witcher 3 is real "Game of the year 2015 material".
It's so awesome in so many ways.
Like Skyrim but better in my opinion.
A lot of good fables/tales in one game.

Thank you CD-Project-Red I loved your game.

This is not only great game but also, a great story! It is deep and exciting without "fedex' quests. That' is something that for example Dragon Age definately was missing.

I must admit that this game was the first of the saga I played, and I have not yet completed. The graphic is fantastic the game play is awesome, but the story is unbelievable. It started weak on me (after I played DA:I) but after 1 hour of game I was completely sucked in. I usually forget about time when I play this game and I keep going because I need to know what happen next. Excellent Game, Graphics don't really bother me to much, they seem pretty good, the game-play and amount of content is truly epic, and that is what makes the difference.

First of all I don't know why the other user gave this game low score! I played the game for about 10 hours, the graphic, details are Eye-catching and amazing, if I want to be honest I didn't see such pure and beautiful details in open world games until now, Rains, glow of sun, the light of the moon, the wind between trees, all things are perfectly awesome.
I found story telling in this

I found story telling in this game fabulous, the game play is good but you have to spend times to get use to it.
All in all The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is really great, thank you CD PROJEKT RED.

If you liked Skyrim, Shadow of Mordor, and choose-your-own-adventure books from your childhood, then this is your game. The world is massive. Every decision you make in the story has repercussions. Which leads to my biggest gripe about the game...you can't play multiple profiles at the same time. Otherwise this is essentially a perfect game.

This is the best RPG in history. Beautiful graphics, incredible storyline, characters, this game does not have a competition for himself. Idiots issuing some 4/10 should feel honored that can play Geralt.

This is one of those games like GTA 5, that when you buy it, you feel like you got your money's worth. With this game you get a map, a code that unlocks DLC's, 20 free DLC's, the actual soundtrack CD, and if you happen to buy it at Walmart, you will get a bad ass poster of Geralt. That's the man on the cover it you're new to this. Actually my score was a 9.75, and I will tell you why. FirstThis is one of those games like GTA 5, that when you buy it, you feel like you got your money's worth. Actually my score was a 9.75, and I will tell you why. First of all, the game is great, and there is no argument that can be made against that that would make sense. The only con to this game is the fact that sometimes it glitches ever so slightly. It doesn't effect gameplay, it's just annoying. I love this game. The glitches still aren't near as bad as most game glitches. It is very long and has an endless amount of side quests. The game's difficulty ranges from pretty easy to ridiculously hard, depending on what you want. I believe anyone can beat this game. The music is excellent and the graphics are phenominal for an open world RPG that is probably one of the biggest games ever made. I don't hate on the glitches, what few there are, because for the size that this game is, and the small amount of time that the developers had to work on it, I believe that they did whatever they could with what today's technology was able to do. Hats off to the CD PROJECT RED. The story is so detailed and intricate that in my opinion it wins the award for best story in a game ever. The gameplay is challenging in the right areas and always feels real while still giving you the feeling that your are a gifted bad ass. If there is anything at all wrong with this game, it is minor and almost unnoticeable by most. Buy this game no matter if it's your style or not. At least play one hour of it. Expand

It's not perfect, however the strengths of this game far make up for the few flaws it has. The Witcher 3 receives a score of 10 because it sets the standard for open world RPG's. There are no better titles in the genre. If you have any interest in role playing games you must give The Witcher 3 a try.

May I call The Witcher 3 "Adult version of Dragon Age Inquisition''? Or same level as Skyrim? Because of the amazing story, fantastic living open world. I'm going to spent hundreds of hours into this game ^^

For all pessimists: this is not Dragon Age or glitched, easy Skyrim. This is a mature game with a great story, based on a rich, wonderful prose of Andrzej Sapkowski (highly recommended). Huge world, artwork, dialogues is a masterpiece. The game is not easy but people forget such productions as Fallout 1, 2, Baldur's Gate, in Europe Gothic 1, 2. Great game. Good job CDP Red. (Sorry for my english)

Ive have only played this game for some 22 hours now, and I haven't even left the starting area yet. Im simply in awe of the beauty of this game, constantly finding myself just starring at the screen and the changing environment. I haven't seen this much attention to detail since GTA V, and that is the only other game on the current gen consoles i would give a 10. The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
