If you liked Skyrim, Shadow of Mordor, and choose-your-own-adventure books from your childhood, then this is your game. The world is massive. Every decision you make in the story has repercussions. Which leads to my biggest gripe about the game...you can't play multiple profiles at the same time. Otherwise this is essentially a perfect game.

This is one of those games like GTA 5, that when you buy it, you feel like you got your money's worth. Actually my score was a 9.75, and I will tell you why. First of all, the game is great, and there is no argument that can be made against that that would make sense. The only con to this game is the fact that sometimes it glitches ever so slightly. It doesn't effect gameplay, it's just annoying. I love this game. The glitches still aren't near as bad as most game glitches. It is very long and has an endless amount of side quests. The game's difficulty ranges from pretty easy to ridiculously hard, depending on what you want. I believe anyone can beat this game. The music is excellent and the graphics are phenominal for an open world RPG that is probably one of the biggest games ever made. I don't hate on the glitches, what few there are, because for the size that this game is, and the small amount of time that the developers had to work on it, I believe that they did whatever they could with what today's technology was able to do. Hats off to the CD PROJECT RED. The story is so detailed and intricate that in my opinion it wins the award for best story in a game ever. The gameplay is challenging in the right areas and always feels real while still giving you the feeling that your are a gifted bad ass. If there is anything at all wrong with this game, it is minor and almost unnoticeable by most. Buy this game no matter if it's your style or not. At least play one hour of it. Expand

Storyline is simply **** all the things you do in any quest will have an relation with the main story. This game should receive 11/10 rating.

My first impressions of the game after playing 2 hrs were that of disappointment and here's why; Skyrim was my favourite RPG game and its easy to look at the trailers for The Wtcher 3 and make comparisons and create expectations especially if like me you've never played the previous Witcher games. So i wanted next gen Skyrim.
    At first all i could do was focus on things that were not like Skyrim and i actually considered taking it for a refund. I looked at it differences and saw them as flaws. That being said the game does have issues;

Roach doesn't follow the paths he's supposed to and rides in the wrong direction.
I have been getting stuck on things walking and riding.
During the tutorial i fell from the castle walls because the movement mechanics are not easy and jerky.
The camera angle when using Witcher senses is squashed and awkward and you use it a lot.
Looting and examining abjects isn't always easy because of the camera angles.
Geralt's voice is annoying and at first you notice all the time.
The text and pictures in the inventry menu is very small and could be easier to use
    Climbing could be better.
    Swimming mechanics are difficult.
    It isn't Skyrim.

Other people have also mentioned other issues like popping and stuff which i've seen and when you are already disappointed with something you start to pick holes everywhere..

Now the reason i marked this as a 10/10..

Despite all those issues and the disappointment i felt i decided to give it more time, maybe it would get better and the story would draw me in.
I have now been playing the game for 3 days and i am so glad i stuck with it because it's really grown on me. All the bad points about the game that i focused on mostly don't bother me now or i don't even notice them anymore because the game is actually so good.

The story is great and the soundtrack is excellent. The open world is massive and full of detail. I was only playing in one area for ages and when i finally progressed with the story more i got to see some of the larger cities/towns and they look amazing! then you start to see just how big the game is and how much detail there is. You can go into nearly every building and look around and they are all full of details it's not empty rooms. You get used to the way Roach rides around and the same with Geralt's movements, swimming is still difficult but i have improved and it's not really a big issue for me. The details to this game are what make it so good. The colours are so rich and you do find yourself taking in moments when there's a sunset or sunrise and everything is a golden orange colour. another great thing is that you don't have to wait everytime you enter a building or room, not like Skyrim.

There are some things that i would have liked to be different in the game like be able to switch to first person sometimes i want to see things closer up especially when there's so much detail, combat would also be better in FP. Being able to climb like in Assissn's Creed would have giving it another dimension too.

This really is a great game and it gets addictive, i think like me a lot of people will be put off by the first hour or so of the game where you getting used to how it works but after that it's all fun, hrs and hrs of fun!

I hope you enjoy it as much as i do.

The massive and immersive world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will pull you in and keep you hooked for days on end, say goodbye to real life. In this review for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, I will give my opinions on gameplay, story, sound, graphics, and last impressions.

    Gameplay: 9/10
    - The gameplay in Witcher 3 takes some getting used to, no doubt. The combat is challenging at first and making use of oils, potions and signs can have a steep learning curve to it. That being said, once you have spent some time with the system you really begin to appreciate the diversity and rewards to combat. Every enemy has different strengths and weaknesses, and it is entirely up to you whether you will learn and take advantage of these, or go in swinging and hope for the best. You get what you put in with this combat system, if you're willing to learn and make use of everything, there's plenty of fun diversity here.

    Story: 10/10
    - This game truly shines in the story. Whether you're doing a main quest or side quest, everything was excellently written and crafted. You get the feeling that everything you do in the world has purpose and often it really does affect the game down the road. The shear amount of things to do is staggering, and none of it feels like simple filler. My first playthrough took me 58 hours, and this could have easily been extended if I spent more time on side quests and the surprisingly engaging Gwent, needless to say after the endgame, I still have a gigantic amount of quests and contracts to complete. The game does an excellent job of making you care about characters and what happens to them, which is something rarely seen in many games of this day.

    Sound: 10/10
    - The soundtrack to The Witcher 3 is excellent. I did turn the music volume down a few notches because I felt at times it interrupted with the story being told, but after this I found it much better to my personal preference. The voice acting throughout this entire adventure is done excellently by the enormous cast. You meet an incredible amount of characters, and most of the time they have something interesting to say.

    Graphics: 9.5/10
    - Everyone who has any interest in this game has most likely heard of the graphics downgrade from what was shown at E3, but the game still looks incredible, especially when you realize the scale of the game. I found myself very often stopping and just admiring the view in many different areas. The game looks fantastic no matter what you play on. The framerate has some hiccups on the PS4, notably in the swamp areas and a later cave area, but as a whole the game runs very well. Throughout my 58 hours I had one crash while in game and one freeze at a loading screen.

    Last Impressions:
    - If you've read this much of my review, you can probably guess that I loved this game. I've played a countless amount of games over the past 10 years and consider myself a pretty serious gamer. That being said, out of the hundreds of games I've had the pleasure of playing, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt easily makes it's way into my personal top 5 list. This game is truly a masterpiece that should be enjoyed by any RPG game fans. It is the largest game I've ever played, and I've never been kept so engaged through an entirety of a game like I had been with this. I'll be starting my second playthrough immediately at the highest difficulty and can see myself working towards 100% completion. I recommend this game to any RPG fans and every gamer out there should give it a try.

The story line is generous unlike anything I have played before. What really blew me away is the fact that secondary and optional story missions feel like main missions in any other game. Some of these missions are also creepy in awesome and new ways that left me thinking about the characters. While I could have given this game a perfect score, I didn’t as it has it main share of issues. The worst of which is that I lost over 10hrs of gameplay due to a buggy save system that at times refused do automatic and manual saves; the game also has a really wonky camera at times, and you find yourself with Geralt facing the enemies while the camera is looking somewhere else; the character movement is odd also… Geralt moves at a pace that is difficult to control… As if he’s always walking with a momentum equal to running downhill. Roach, Geralt’s horse, is useless sometimes as you have to be perfectly aligned to mount it (I wish the mount behaved similar to the ones in Dragon Age). Oh… and for some odd reason, there is always a light or candle in the middle of NPCs, chests, Roach, loot bags, etc., meaning that if you attempt to interact with any of the later, Geralt ends up lighting candles.
Anyway, aside from the technical issues, this is a great gaming experience and probably the best RPG I’ve ever played (sorry, Mass Effect).

I was initially concerned with the reviews stating *clunky* controls and combat, but can say that these concerns are overstated and, although the game does have some flaws when it comes to controls, they perform more than adequately in the context of this type of game. Seriously, I've just come from Bloodborne, which has incredibly responsive controls, and The Witcher 3's controls don't bother me.
The crafting and levelling system seems a bit complicated initially. Spending a little time getting to know the menus and how they work should help clear that up, though they could certainly be more user friendly.
Visually it's stunning. I'm playing on the ps4 and haven't noticed any significant frame rate drop, and have frequently stopped in awe at the beautiful surroundings.
This is a fantastic game, and those who are maybe a little sceptical, as I was, I'd advise to dive in. You really don't need to worry. You'll have a blast.

It's this kind of organic storytelling that is missing from other modern AAA RPGs, as it combines the flowing and random nature of say a Rockstar game, with the insane scope of an RPG as big as Skyrim. Balanced side quest and well-designed monster hunting missions, carefully planned story and overall a top quality game which will give you more than its money value. An epic conclusion to Witcher Saga.

Having walked into the Witcher 3, after having just returned to my PS3 to visit the essential Skyrim, I had worried that I would have had my fill of open world RPGs. I was wrong. The beautifully crafted world of Witcher 3, from an aesthetic perspective, puts to shame all console games prior. Though it is beautiful, it doesn’t just hope to get by on its good looks.
The tale of “Geralt of Rivia” gradually reveals a well complex individual with a group of nearly equally intriguing of allies, friends and nemesis who are worthy of their own tales. The quest designs are thoughtful, and express real and believable human needs without seeming as contrived with the express purpose of giving the player something to do. The options before Geralt, and for the most part the outcomes, make sense.
I love the game, but here’s my wishlist….

The world is large, but more variation in landscape could augment that sense of being in a vast world. The leveling system and tech tree are adequate, but could use some tweaks. More depth of character customization/specialization would augment the game. I would also prefer to see a combat system more akin to LOTR Shadow, Batman, etc. that is conducive to combos.

Clearly the above mentioned suggestions didn't ruin the game for me, as I still rate it at 9.5.

Truly a PS 4 essential for lovers of open world RPGs.

Yes there was the graphics downgrade controversy but after reading the reviews i thought myself ready to immerse myself in a proper RPG again. Something i didn't do since Skyrim.

But boy oh boy was i happy i tried this game. The first few hours are quite hardcore as I wasn't all that familiar with the systems of potions and stuff but after the first five hours i really started to enjoy my time.

The deep story and the epic combat really pulled me in and only just spat me out after completing the game. 80 hours went into my playthrough and i know i missed a huge amount of side plots.

I could continue on but all has been said by others. Game of the year and possibly one of the best games i have played the last few years.
To my opinion it is even better than Skyrim.

Game very stable, rarely any glitches. Crafting system is well thought off and elegantly designed. Although the amount of material and items can be overwhelming at first. Game remember what decision you make and it reflects on later quests, it makes us as player feels that what we are doing make a difference in the end.

The game is a very worthy RPG to be played. Very polished, very solid, great writing and voice acting. It is really a masterpiece RPG game.

Conclusion: This game looks beautiful. It's a large, open-world game, that has tons of quests. Even the side quests are interesting. Usually a game with side quests have side quests that are boring and/or repetitive. I used to get frustrated at this game because of the 30 second loading screens you get every time you die. Though it's really just my fault for not studying the combat system more. The combat system is fluid and well crafted. This game is challenging, but it's not TOO challenging. The pros definitely outweigh the cons.

The COMBAT is very smooth but also very challenging, the swordplay mixed with the handful of Signs(which reminded me of Bioshock's plasmids/vigors) truly caters to all styles of play. The SKILL TREE wasn't too complex and felt truly rewarding. What truly made the game special though, was the living, breathing OPEN WORLD. There are endless monster contracts, side quests, treasure hunts, location discoveries, and random events. It's refreshing to feel as if the worlds entire fate doesn't depend on you, but instead feels like that world was there long before Geralt, and will be long after.
Its hard to find anything wrong with this game, but if I had to nitpick, I'd say I had a few issues with glitches here and there(PS4). Almost all of those issues came with NPCs either freezing or pop ins. Also riding your horse was pretty clunky and at times hard to control. These are both super EASY to ignore considering how epic this game is.
Aside from the actual game, the studio CD Projekt Red, has reminded the rest of the gaming industry that making a great game should be the one and only goal of a studio. Not thinking of ways to take advantage make extra money off of their fans. Not only was all the DLC all free, but the extras they packed in every edition game case made me feel like they appreciate the fans.

It's great what they have worked out this game from CD Projekt RED, there's no reason why it shouldn't the game of the year... Oh wait! It already is!

What I liked most is the endless possibilities you have when you interact with NPCs, the way it affects the evolution of history and the world around you, so that none is the right or wrong choice, all are viable and have their own reason for being in the course of things.

The main line of the game follows the previous titles, but you can play it without having played The Witcher I or II, which is my case.

It is a vast world full of bloody history and creatures to hunt, you never run out of tasks and secondary missions to do that's for sure, in any case you will have problems to finish everything, because its a game that delivers hundreds of gameplay hours if you decide to complete it. You even have a card board minigame that you will must collect if you want to go platinum; there are people who find it boring, but I enjoyed it pretty much.

Like any open world game, you'll find glitches here and there, but that's normal considering how immensely big it is, you do not get the picture of the scale of the map until you start playing! Roach controls are a bit squishy, but still you just get used to it.

I'm looking forward to the second DLC (I've already completed Hearts of Stone), Blood and Wine, to dive once again into this fascinating world that CD Projekt RED has given us, I'm glad to see there are still developers who know how to make videogames!

No doubt this is one of the games that I'll remember for many years when it comes to compare future releases of the genre, and it will be a difficult task to stand up next to The Witcher 3.

The Witcher 3 is a excellent game that has both great characters and story. Not all of it is perfect though, for example the world isn't the best to explore to say Skyrim. The main quests are pretty good and interesting enough to make you want to keep going. The side quests are great there's just a lot of variety in them despite most of them being focused on hunting monsters. The monsters you hunt will rarely be the same kind that you hunt from a different contract. The stories are way more interesting in these side quests than other open world RPGs as I actually did care what was happening. The pros far outweigh the cons and is easily a GOTY contender Expand

    Cons:
    - Occasional Bugs and Crashes
    - Some strange, sometimes even bad writing (never in the main quest, mostly in side quests and not frequent enough to detract too much)
    - Combat and skill trees can be repetitive and I went through this game with 120 hours logged and barely used potions or oils.
    - Inventory Management was how I spent too much of my time (uh oh accidentally picked up a frying pan again)

Fantastic open world RPG. It has an enthralling story that really pushes you to just play it. You have this intense drive to play the game, it's great. The game does have some technical issues, and the combat isn't that great, but if you can look past those faults I suggest picking this gem up.

I have received a platinum trophy on this game and beaten the expansion and played for over 300 hours and am still looking forward to the next expansion. It deals with adult themes that are not dealt with in many other RPGs and the characters have much better voice acting, expressions... long story short, I just cared instead of rapidly skipping through the nonsense dialogue with a feeling that it was childish. I could go on and on about the combat, exploration, etc, but it's all good. Expand

From most aspects this game is perfect; however, I found a slight shortcoming as I had played for a significant amount of time. I found the combat to become boring. I will say, this could be because I was playing it one specific way when most players change their play style so, it could have been in how I was playing the game. Nevertheless, I found the combat to get a bit repetitive at the middle of the game towards the end and that detracted from my experience.

Its slight flaws in combat are the only thing stopping me from giving this game a 10/10.

I dont want to play main plot to extend the game as much as possible and get my witcher better weapons Because without it you also stand no chance with better creatures. All of the creatures are diffrent, wich makes to fight with each one of them other way and you have to use your special signs or alchemy to gain boost in your weapons. The fact the were able to create a very detailed day/night cycle, and dynamic weather is just a plus to the already great environments.

The voice acting is superb, but be careful if you have children around because much of it relies on having a mature audience with a sense of humor. The amount of creatues in the game is astounding. Most RPGs you come across 10 or so different creatures, and that is it. Then you will repeat the cycle with the same creatues over and over. There are an enormous amount of different type of creatures in this game, or those close to the series, "monsters." The attention to detail is amazing. I came across a farmer in game that was shoveling in a field, and his shovel would enter the ground empty, and when it came back up, there was a shovel full of dirt. Once he tossed the shovel, you could actually see the dirt being tossed off. Another example was a kid playing in a stream, and you could actually see the water ripple as he moved his hands through it.

I haev seen several reviews where people have given the game a low score based solely, and only, on the reasoning they can't create their own character. I find it utterly amusing someone would waste their time to write a negative review about this when they should have know well in advance that Geralt is the main character of the game and the book. What ever made them think they were going to be able to alter the story given in the books is beyond me. It is an adventure about Geralt of Rivia, not John Doe of Pocono.

Honest it takes the best of some past top RPGS and puts it into one great package along with its only great work. You will surely not be wronged if you buy this game and will find plenty to like truly one of the top RPGS of this generation and will be a candidate for RPG of the year and Game of the Year for sure if not winner in one or both of the awards. If you like RPGS this is a must buy and has taken over my game time from playing other great RPGS like bloodborne, dark souls 2 SOTFS, and Dragon Age inquistion. The RPG genre truly has had some great titles as of late and hope to see that continue as I love the RPG genre and and all its newer subsets as of late xD.

Quick advice for anyone having issues starting game, make sure before you start the game to let it fully update the game or you might have an issue starting the game as I found that if you let the game fully update you will not have this problem starting the game but if you try and start the game before or during the updating then game will get stuck at loading screen otherwise no issues to speak of on PS4 unlike issues I have had with getting Witcher 3 to finally run properly on my high end PC but that's whole other platform and not for you to worry about if your playing on console.

From hunting down monsters across the vast open world, to simply helping an old lady get her frying pan pack, you care. That for me is what makes this game a 10. The lore is so fascinating, the combat is exhilarating, leveling crafting and alchemy have so much depth, and I can't even begin to tell you how much time I have put into the (mini)game gwent; all of what I listed adds to experience, but again it is how the game makes you care and in turn makes you cautious with your decision making. Every choice has a consequence and a lot of choices come down to choosing the lesser of two evils, however it is this choice that makes the game feel so grounded in reality. Your actions have consequences, Every time you have a choice (at least for myself) you take time to consider what is the best options for Geralt and for the world he lives in. In conclusion, the game is just so good, and if any developer has ever earned your $60 dollars it's without a doubt CDPR.

The world: At all platforms smooth and so alive, this game really brings you to world of Geralt. The climate changes, and you can fell it, its like when in real life you feel the wind, the clouds closing the sun, and you know its gonna rain. In TW3 you know that without even looking to sky, just because of animals, the foliage, the wind... Gorgeous.

RPG: This is an action rpg right? Yes, but its so rich, potions, alchemy, magic, swords, shields, bow, xbox, they're not simple weapons to use, they're something else, they defines you, you cant just simple use them, you need to master it, enjoy and understand each weapon. The level, the customization is everything in this game, you cant simply add ability points, you need to link that with your combat style, with your way to play, with your way of live in this world. Books, stories. Imagine a Skyrim with more dense and fluid combat system, add an alive world that changes all times by your actions and decisions, now, you're only 10% of what TW3 is capable.

Quests: They dont exist only to you level up, gear up, or end the story... They exist to make this world alive, i hate sidequests, but here you cant ignore them, they're as rich as the main ones. This game defines next-gen RPG.

Actors/NPC: Facial expressions, finest voice action, fluid smooth, you imagine the NPC is really there, is not just something to tell you the story, they're alive in this world.

Mine final opinion: This a must for an action gamer, a must for an rpg gamer, a must for FPS gamer, a must for everyone. This game change it all, to me it enter the same revolution as: Chrono trigger, First Doom, Final Fantasy 7, Half-life... This is the new level of future rpg, cant imagine if is even possible to match with it. Giving this game 10/10 is unfair, you cant score this game, like you cant score the industrial revolution, the french revolution, WW's.

This is a mix of gta v / skyrim/ bloodborne and even a little of batman arkham series.

I found I started the game on easy because I constantly died but now I raised the level to the hardest one available and monster as extremely fun to handle, sometimes a fight will take me 20+ min to complete because you actually feel like the real witcher from the books. Constantly changing and messing around with oils, different monsters have different weaknesses.

There are tons of different potions, and decoctions, bombs and weapons and all make the game so much fun trying to figure out what to use next for your next fight. This is the first time I ever spent $80 on a game (with premium pass) and I actually don't feel ripped off.

CD Projekt Red will also be releasing 30 hours of dlc story which at first I thought they exaggerated, but after playing the witcher 3 I fully believe that they will deliver.

The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
