Honestly, I already knew in the first part, that one of the two dies. Of course it happened brutally and very quickly in the game, but Joel's story is told. Every story is told at some point. This is called "storytelling". I'm not interested in this feminism stuff. I've been playing games since I was 7 and I play because I like playing games and not because I'm a big fan of the show or anything. I think this game is great, nice graphics, nice sound, the story is perfectly fine too. What happens here with the ratings is no opinion but simply hate and has nothing to do with the game. I hope for all these kids who let out their hate, this game will be game of the year. In my opinion, it deserves this. Nevertheless. Stay healthy… Expand

    Best game of the year so far, by far, and one of the best of the decade. This game is awesome! Gameplay, narrative, the roller coaster of emotions. It doesn't give you what you want, no, it definitely doesn't., but it's such a unique experience, very harsh and turbulent, but your ride will be well worth it and really enjoyable.

    Really fun game all i can say is play the game for yourself don't listen to the bad reviews from posting this the game has been released for 8 hours and 21 minutes yet people are saying they've completed a game that takes 25/30 hours to complete so don't listen to the bad reviews they are just people trying to vring down the game

    Masterpiece. Story took risks and pulled it off, game play was refreshing and amazing, it was very brutal and gave you the feeling of guilt and pressure of killing like no game before did, all the bad reviews are just blind fortnite kids who haven't even played the game

    It's inferior to its predecessor, with some SJW / Progressive **** But overall, it's a good game, worth at least a single play through. Graphically good, gameplay is nice. Story and narrative are inferior to the first game but overall it's not as bad as it seems. The ending could have been better if the player was given choice. But it makes sense considering everything that happened.

    Best game of the generation! Best graphics, soundtrack, gameplay, voice acting. Troy Baker's performance in this game is just out of this world. How does he do it? Also a huge shoutout to Laura Bailey for turning a monster into one of my favourite characters. This game is just..... I'm just grateful that it exists. 10/10.

    This game changed my life. I understand some people only want to play Fortnite, that's fine, but this game is the future of gaming. Character development is quite usual actually. It's nice to play a new game, if I wanted the old one, I would just play it again. Which I do. Some fans just want the same thing over and over again.

To be honest i didn't love the story but also not so bad. Maybe i can give 5.8/10 for story but other things are 10/10. This game is not deserve 0 or 1.     A truly masterpiece game. One of the best of the genration. The best looking game ive playes so far with the stunning animations thats so realistic. Excellent voice acting and amazing soundtrack from gustavo like the first one.

    Wow Just Wow. I still can't comprehend the fact that i played a game which not only made me cry but gave me a thrilling experience. The graphics of this game are top notch, the story line is incredible. 10/10 will play it again

    The story , the character and the world have evolved . The bleak and dark world gives you the motivation to fight in every action sequence. I cannot stress how good the game is.

    Graphics are brilliant and there is a great attention to detail by ND. I request all the haters to play the game first before just downplaying years of efforts put in by thousand of designers, coders and developers.

    Clearly ( almost ) all of the people here have written reviews here without playing a second of gameplay for themselves, and it just shows how far we have come as humans now.    … Expand

    And when you reach the ending you're left with nothing. I see what they were trying to do but they could’ve done it so much better and maybe in a less jumbled up way. Graphics are fantastic it’s the story however that was bad. Ellie and Dina, ok pretty cool. Joel dying, not as cool as I’d have wanted it but he had to die. Abby, cool story getting pushed but falls flat most times, forcing you to empathize with her and hate Ellie and Joel. The game, right off the bat, makes you hate Abby and nothing she can do really makes you root for her in a meaningful way. Again, not a bad game, just disappointing.… Expand

The gameplay essentially copies that of the first game with few additions and thus feels a bit dusted, but still for the most part enjoyable.

    The main sticking point is of course the story. It's not a terrible one, but I have 2    The game really leaves mixed feelings. From a technical standpoint, it's hands down stunning. The graphics, level design, sound, and music - it's all amazing. The gameplay essentially copies that of the first game with few additions and thus feels a bit dusted, but still for the most part enjoyable.

    The main sticking point is of course the story. It's not a terrible one, but I have 2 major issues with it. First, the message it tries to bring across is too grim and dark and completely contrasts with that of the first game. The world of Last of Us is already a bleak and dark place and making a story as dark and brutal as this one is just not something any of us needed. The first game is much better in this regard. It also tackles dark complex themes but conveys a feeling of hope in the end. Last of Us 2 has none of that and leaves the player emotionally exhausted and downright miserable.

    What's much worse though, is the way the story is told. In the end, if that's the kind of story they wanted to tell, that's up to Naughty Dog. It could still be a great one, if done properly. Alas, it's not. The way it's structured is just bad. You don't introduce new characters by showing them do something terrible and then trying hard to show that 'hey, they're not that bad after all'. This just doesn't work and kills the enjoyment in the latter part of the game. Also, all the characters in the game are bleak, even the main ones. We got to know Ellie really well in the first game, but we get very little info about the kind of person she is now in this one. She does the things she does without a real explanation or rationale (other than a very simplistic 'they ate my foods, imma kill all of them now').

    The other characters are even worse. They are sort of just there. They don't get much of a backstory and are simply too one-sided boring and downright unlikeable.

    The end result is a grueling 30-hour storyline that is technically amazing, but also the one that no one really wanted or needed and that leaves a bitter aftertaste simple because it could've AND should've been so much more.    … Expand

The story is a mess in a lot of ways, which is the main thing dragging this otherwise good game down, and it seems naughtydog was trying harder to make "art" than to make a good game. It's not awful, but i'd recommend you wait till the game is on discount or simply (most likely the better option) watch a let's play.… Expand

I would first like to say this game is stunningly beautiful the graphics are amazing the animations are cool kicking a guy down a set of stairs feels good since it doesn't take you out of the game with a cut-scene like some games do. The gameplay starts out fine but over the time starts to feel repetitive and boring with a huge amount of quick time events. Now to start with the story i didn't enjoy it but i didn't hate it. One part of the game forces you to kill a dog then tries to make you feel bad for a choice you didn't have a choice. If they changed alot of these events around. i feel like the pacing would feel better and you wouldn't hate the antagonist as much as you do. overall it's a average game would recommend getting it when it goes on a deep sale like 50% off.… Expand

Keiner hat eine wirkliche Entwicklung. Veränderung kommen ohne Eeklärung über Nacht, bspw. wird eine Charakterin von heute auf morgen lesbisch.

    Die Story ist der letzte Rotz. Es gibt so gute Rachegeschichten, sei es jetzt in Filmen, Comics oder Videospielen. Diese hier ist keine. Zudem schlägt Naughty-Dog noch sehr oft mit der Moralkeule zu, in meinem Fall, ohne zu treffen. Warum soll ich Schuld bei Ereignissen aus Zwischensequenz empfinden, ich hatte ja keine Wahl, bzw. musste als Spieler nur zugucken. In den Gameplay Momenten entscheide ich mich aktiv dazu brutal und gnadenlos zu sein, anstatt einfach wegzuschleichen und nur nötige Gegner zu töten.

    Das schlimmste sind aber die Dialoge. Von der Finesse und dem Talent der Schreiber aus dem ersten Teil ist hier nichts mehr übrig, im gegenteil. Nahezu alle Dialoge wirken aufgesetzt. Die Charaktere reden, sagen aber nichts.

    Problems and misunderstanding:

    1. Joels death was painful to watch. You play as a character named Abby who is running away from a horde of zombies. You are then saved by the beloved characters, Joel and Tommy. They save you on multiple occasions and eventually you bring them back to your little hide out. Now the first issue I have here is continuity with character personalities (Characteristics/traits). Joel and Tommy are known to be survivors and it is clearly demonstrated in the first game. When I mean clearly, they literally show Joel being ruthless to a group of bandits that were pretending to be injured, knowing this, Joel goes straight through like a badass. However, this trait is no longer seen in the second game. He casually just walks into a room filled with people that are armed and unknown. He then introduces himself, eventually getting killed. You see Joel die in the most brutally and heart-wrenching way possible during the first act of the game (2 hours in). This is where people misunderstand the majority of why fans hate this. We are not upset that Joel died...its how he died. His death by the end of the game nearly meant nothing. His character is not the same character we grew to love. Nor was his death memorable or meaningful whatsoever. A lot of us understood the motive that was presented here for Ellie, and yes...it did make us angry and we too wanted revenge just like Ellie. But it was done in a way that was so lazy and poorly written.

    2. Playing as Abby. It was very obvious what the game developers were trying to do. They wanted to humanize the character. They tried manipulating the audience by using the whole animal trope where Ellie is bad for killing dogs, Abby is good for saving a zebra and is friendly with dogs. It is these subtle things that make me so frustrated with the game because these devices or elements that are used to get the audience to sympathise with Abby are poorly integrated within the game. I can say that after playing 10 hours with Abby with a storyline that hardly connected with Ellie's, I still felt nothing for her character. Even by the last fight between Ellie and Abby, I was filled with rage and wanted Abby dead so badly.

    3. Poor Character development. I didn't care one bit about any of Abby's friends. In fact, I was super happy when Manny got shot in the face. Owen and Mel's death was nice to see. For the matter a fact, Jesse and Dina were alright characters. I truly didn't think much of them at all, when Jesse died to a bullet to the face, I kind of just sat there and looked at him and shrugged it off. It was clearly just for shock value, and the characters in the game clearly didn't care either.

    4. Political Agendas. Yes...Abby may not be a transgender woman, but my goodness, she got dem guns. Basically, all the men die, woman live on! I never really cared because Ellie was and always has been the best character in the game (apart from Joel). I have always seen Ellie as a badass character. She can handle her own and take on just about anyone. That is what I call a strong, independent female character. However, it is clear that some of the games selling point has to do with the lesbian, transgender LGBTQ political point of views. I am all for these kind of things, if it doesn't affect the story...which it didn't to be quite honest. I was fine with Dina and Ellie being together because I already knew Ellie liked women from the DLC Left behind! But, my goodness, Lev was just a copy paste of trying to replicate the Ellie and Joel relationship with Abby and baldy over there. It just sucks because they could have made all these powerful messages about the LGBTQ into the game, but do it subtly and not shove it down our throats. In doing so, it makes it more impactful and meaningful in a way. LIKE WHY WAS MEL OUT IN COMBAT WHEN SHE WAS PREGNANT! WOMAN EMPOWERMENT? NO!

    5. Ellie learning her lesson at such a weird time. Wtf yo...I tried writing this review in a professional manner, but as you can see above, I have given up. What was the ending. Only after getting 2 fingers bitten off and killing maybe another 50 people she then realises she doesn't want to kill Abby??? How did she not learn her lesson the first time when she encountered her. She killed probably over 200 peeps and by the end of the story shes like nah girl. Leave with yo bald ass baby... Ellie lost everything, whilst Abby is straight drippin in gold. Joels death felt like it was for nothing and the story just ends.    … Expand

    i played the first game on Ps 3 and PS4.
    i finished this game so many times. from easy to grounded mode. I EVEN DID ELLIE'S TATTOO! FOR GOD SAKE! i loved so much the first part. it gives me chills. 7 years after and here the sec' part came out.. i really hated the way they killed Joel. after all he did and all his travel... he getting killed like a side figure... ffs. oh and don't forget how Jesse died. about manny - man i dont give a F*** about him. so anyway i hated every second of joel's death. every second.
    in this pary Ellie was weak then the first part. where all the anger? The adrenaline, the courage, and of course - the revenge? (Spoiler: No revenge.)
    I'm sure Joel flips around in the grave now and curses Elile now. He must also be disappointed.
    the grapchis was amazing. i really liked it. I loved the little details of course, if you kill an enemy - and another enemy finds the one you killed, he tells the other enemies that (for example) Ron is dead! Look for her! Be focused I loved the weapon upgrade animation. Something that wasn't in the first game, I liked that, for goodness sake, you could finally slip into battle between zombies or enemies.
    I don't really have a problem about Elile and Dina's relationship, I'm not a homophobe, even I was with them.
    The only thing I really disliked is playing as Abigail (pretty sure it's her full name) I don't care what her cause of revenge on Joel, I don't care. I also care about the way the developers chose to kill such a character.
    Okay we realized, he murdered Abigail's dad in the hospital, they postponed the game so many times and couldn't think of another way to kill Joel? I don't care about Jesse and Manny anymore. (Tommy scared me a bit too but he survived)

    What am I supposed to do now ... and again, I have no problem with his death. It was quite predictable. Even without the spoilers, I knew he was going to die, there didn't have to be a scientist to know that. But yes I had a problem with the way they chose to kill him, killing him like it was just another bottle stopper.

The cons of the game was the graphics. They weren’t necessarily bad but I was just expecting them to be much better.the narrative was extremely disappointing and I think most people would agree that it felt extremely dragged out.

    My overall verdict of the game was it was very disappointing and it was a missed opportunity that naughty dog could have grasped. I would give the game a 5/10    … Expand

    2. The supporting characters are hardly memorable and their deaths carry no real significance.
    3. I suspected Joel would die but it was handled horribly and feels as though they were simply going for shock factor.

    Построение сюжета отвратительно.

    Персонажи скучные, кроме Элли и Джоэля вообще никто не интересен и намеренные попытки привязать игрока к ним выглядят абсолютно убого.
    Есть несколько душевных, трогательных и неплохо поставленных моментов, но на фоне остального сюжета они полностью меркнут.

    Постановка сцен, актёрская игра и работа со звуком просто на высочайшем уровне, жаль что по большей части только за эти аспекты и хочется хвалить.

    Графика хоть местами и невероятная, но за ней стоят тучи фильтров, графических артефактов и множество других технических ограничений. Так же ближе к концу, вместе с сюжетом, графика как будто становится всё хуже и хуже.

    Музыка не выделяется и просто служит лёгким дополнением к сценам, вообще за всё прохождение можно даже не заметить, что у игры есть саундтрек.

    Если нужна нормальная игра про месть или просто нормальная игра, то лучше в Xenoblade Chronicles 1 поиграть.    … Expand

    The atmosphere of the first game, what the first game talked about, its structure - all this was better, more logical, more understandable. This game is not under the last of us series, would get grades 6-7. But as a continuation of the series, it does not withstand any competition.

    Same combat as in 2013. Great graphics. But the story tries too hard to be dark and edgy for the sake of it. The hope for a worthy payoff is what drives you to finish this, only for the ending to rub some extra salt into your wound

    Critics would have you believe this is Empire, but it is highlander 2. Did you like the first game? then skip this...'game'. This will be a 'shame they never made a second one' joke by the end of the year. Pretty much a walking sim with slightly less agency. if you are looking for a depressing movie though, this might do it for you.

    Woah has a game ever pissed away it’s legacy so fast as last of us 2. Loved the first game for the story and hoped that this one would continue in the same vein and improve the gameplay. The gameplay is clunky and the story is just terrible. Avoid at all costs.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.
