    Words cannot describe how immensely disappointed I am. ND have built up a reputation of being one of the top game developers and to see them do this to their most beloved franchise to push a message is really sad.

    The gameplay is nothing new, it's decent and serviceable at best, the inclusion of a jump button was completely pointless but I guess it's better than nothing.     The gameplay is nothing new, it's decent and serviceable at best, the inclusion of a jump button was completely pointless but I guess it's better than nothing. Combat is practically the same from the first, stealth is basically the same with the new mechanic of being able to go prone, it's the same deal with the jump button it didn't need to be there.
    From what I recall there are only 2 new enemy types. Dogs and Shamblers. Both are easy to deal with. Dogs can pick up your scent which is cool I guess but it's easily avoidable. Place a mine behind you and the dog is practically dealt with.
    Just throw molotovs, mines or whatever you can at Shamblers and pump them full of lead. There's no real strategy other than shoot it until it's dead. It's AOE attacks are also easily avoidable.
    Bosses in the game are absolutely boring and require the basic dodge 3 times, do a 3 hit combo and repeat.
    The puzzles don't take any brainpower to figure out and could've been left out of the game entirely. The puzzles from Spider-Man PS4 were more well implemented than this rubbish.

    Music, voice acting, graphics, accessibility and world building are incredible there's not much else I can say on those things.

    Now the story, the thing that's got people raging.
    I'm not going to spoil the ending but all you need to know is, is that the ending renders Ellie's journey pointless and a complete waste of time.
    ND deliberately made people believe a certain someone is featured prominently in the story with the marketing when in actuality what they do is pull a bait and switch. If you've already seen revenge stories before, you'll quickly understand where this one goes.
    The only characters that are likeable in this story are:
    Joel
    Tommy
    Jesse
    Alice
    Who's Alice you say? She's a dog, and the fact that I cared more about a dog that had 20 minutes screen time more than the main character speaks volumes.
    Ellie in this game is a thundering **** to her friends and her girlfriend. She makes stupid decisions, learns nothing throughout the game bar the ending, kills hundreds of people through the gameplay without remorse but when she kills someone in a cutscene she gets overwhelmed with emotions. The only time Ellie is remotely likeable is when she's in a flashback with Joel.

    Dina is boring, unfunny, annoying, like Ellie makes insanely stupid decisions, a burden. This character is the one who's the ai companion for the majority of the game. Dina doesn't hold a candle to the relationship of Joel and Ellie from the first game. Not much of the story changes if Dina wasn't in the game.

    Abby is the new character who early on in the game kills someone the player is very attached to. The writers leading up to this part deliberately made 2 characters stupid in order to progress the plot. Abby is extremely unlikable, unfunny, boring and quite frankly Abby is someone you don't want to be spending 10+ hours with, the true sin with this character is that you're forced to play as her and sympathize with her.
    The less said about Lev the better so I'll make it quick. Lev is not portrayed to have much flaws. He's arrogant, selfish, annoying and a burden. The only reason why Lev is in this game is because he's trans and the actor who plays him is trans. If Lev wasn't in this game, it would be much better and shorter since a large section if the game is dedicated to him. And it's not because he's trans, it's because his personality is so infuriating.
    Abby's group are loaded with unlikable and uninteresting characters, I'd be here all day if I talked about each one.

    ND want you to either love or hate this game. The only way ND fails is if you become indifferent to the game. Give it a "meh" score and forget it exists. If you say to ND that you are indifferent or meh or it's ok middle of the road rubbish, that'll speak volumes to them. ND are expecting you to say "I hate the story and I hate these characters" if you say the game is serviceable and quickly forget about it that would do a dent, because they have failed to get a reaction out of you.

    After scoring 4 in the beggining and falling to 0 I came up with a final score for this game after all.
    This is the worst game to be a sequel. Not only **** over the magnificent of its predecessor, but it kills its main character in almost the very beggining of the game. Joel deserve better, Ellie was a nice sidekick, not the main character, The Last of Us was    Finally I made up my mind.

    This is truly not so good, not so bad, but very good,and very bad. The game is bizarre because of script.Not contents of books,but arrangement make mistakes.
    I don't like who forcing players to understand the story,nobody likes,so director lose the best weapon in TLOU: empathy.
    I could play TLOU again and again,for TLOU2…just once.And please,no part3

"Developers forced to work overtime in order to create what their politically radical and sadistic director considers as realistic" - bull***t. It is more than clear that Neil Druckmann and his creative team truly managed to convey some important aspects of our society in a way that nobody expected, but should be greatful for. To be more exact, here is an example - the players received an idea of what having to deal with SJW feels like. I mean, I took an inportant lesson, which I would have rather learnt the hard way - muscular transgenders are already among us, waiting to bash some faces off with a golf stick, so be aware and try to avoid them. Also, graphics look immaculate. To summarize it all, I am thankful for the long-waited end of the series, for the inflicted pain, which quite frankly was bad pain and, of course, for traumatising me and the other players with the wonderful "realism" of a social extremist's mindset. Can not believe that studio like Naughty Dog has fallen slave to such meager standards and debaucherous dreams of a social activists' agenda arse-licking leader.… Expand

    The only thing that pulls out the game is Joel, you are already familiar with him from the 1st part and are imbued with this hero. The rest of the game are just pieces of texture, not a soul, not a story. Everything that causes emotions in this game is taken from the 1st part. The very thing is complete ****

This was a game that was a no brainer that I was going to get Day 1 before seeing the leaks of the awful story, horribly misleading media and the criminal attacks on Youtubers by Sony/Naughty Dog. The antiquated game play, bland level design and grey world are not saved by goodBeen playing Naughty Dogs games since they began and have loved many especially the Uncharted series and TLOU. This was a game that was a no brainer that I was going to get Day 1 before seeing the leaks of the awful story, horribly misleading media and the criminal attacks on Youtubers by Sony/Naughty Dog.     El juego no es tan malo como lo están poniendo, y no es cuestión de que Ellie sea lesbiana o que haya una escena de sexo gay. Tlou2 son gráficos bonitos y poco más. A las tres ejecuciones sigilosas te cansas de ellas ya que son siempre iguales, Dina no aporta NADA y el juego no para de intentar que sientas lástima en algunas situaciones por ella cuando no empatizas nada. Honestly, this is the most confusing game I've ever played, not because the story is complicated or not clear, the game simply left me not knowing what to feel, I loved some parts of it but I absolutely hated a lot also, the game play is mildly fun but it's not a huge innovation from the first game, and it isn't very diverse, but the problem of this game is not the game play, is the **** up parts of the story. The game lets Abby get away with all that she did but the main character just loses everything and just makes you feel totally hopeless in the end it's not a fitting or fair ending for Ellie because it basically reduces everything you did to nothing, even if the lesson it tries to teach is that "revenge is bad" but it does so in a way that feels so void and stupid, the game constantly expects you to feel something for the people that **** murdered Joel, and it is so absurd, I found myself laughing whenever one of Abby's friends were killed (I lol so hard when Manny gets shot). The whole Part where you control Abby could be put in a different game or a Dlc that had no connection to the main story because its so pointless when it tries to make you care about characters that you will probably hate in the first hour of the story . And if that wasn't enough then the game expects you to fight ellie using a character that don't care about, I literally let myself die to ellie several times expecting that would just trigger the end of the game but it is simply hell bent in making ellie suffer. And as if that wasn't enough the game then robs you of the choice to see Ellie's revenge through and it just forces you to forgive the girl that killed Joel and expects you to be sad about it instead of furious, they couldn't even let us have a choice and it shoves into you the "moraly correct thing to do" as if we hadn't done all this horrible **** throughout the whole game. It would be better that we forget the story of this game ever happened and just imagine a better life for the characters we grew to love in the first game, Joel and Ellie deserved better.… Expand

    The game itself has clearly got some incredible graphics ultimately however it's a polished turd wrapped up in a egocentric writer's fantasy. Zero character development compared to the original and a gameplay loop that's repetitive with poor AI (stealth is completely broken).

    I don't think this game has an agenda.
    Gameplay and visuals are superior.
    But Naughty dog ruined the story.
    The game should result in around 25 hours gameplay but for me it only lasted around 2 hours.
    Can't and won't play this game any further.

The graphics, music, and locations are great. The story on the other hand is a complete dumpster fire. The characters from the first game act out of character and make bad decisions. And worst of all they force you to play as Abby,(a character you don’t like) for like 1/3 of the game so you feel sympathy for her and it just doesn’t work. You’re forced to be around characters you don’t care about, it drags on for way too long, and ruins the game. There’s no motivation to desperately survive and keep this character you don’t like alive. You have to play as Abby and try to kill Ellie and Tommy which is just stupid. They could’ve ended the flashback once you saw the doctor die. It’s a petty and stupid revenge story with horrible pacing. Plus the ending is trash and unsatisfying. Ellie basically loses everything and the entire journey was all for nothing. I 100% understand the message and what Naughty Dog is trying to tell me, but that doesn’t mean it I like it, and it definitely wasn’t executed well.… Expand

    Pros:
    - Stunning graphics, borderline next-gen
    - The same gameplay we've all come to love
    - Improved animations from the first game
    - A jump button, though this comes into play so few times it may as well not be there

    Cons:
    - By "the same gameplay," I do mean the same. Absolutely no innovations were made beyond turning the "counter" mechanic from the original into a "dodge" instead
    - The story is unoriginal. The plot is a tired, dime a dozen revenge story you've heard a thousand times already
    - Characters are inconsistent. Several high-stakes events happen because characters make stupid decisions they never would make realistically. Each character flips from competent to incompetent in a bipolar fashion.
    - NPCs are forgettable. In most cases, when a named NPC died, I (and all of the other characters) had difficulty truly caring
    - The story uses subverting expectations as a huge crutch, to the point where I could usually expect what "unexpected" event would happen instead. One subversion was used on *3 separate occasions*
    - Awful pacing. To make up an example (not a spoiler), lets say you killed a bad character shortly after learning their name and realizing they're in your way. The game would then, 6 hours later, give you a flashback showing you why that character was actually good, to try and make you feel bad.

    Overall, I feel that The Last of Us is a 4/10. It has good graphics and classic TLOU gameplay, but not much else. I would not recommend this game.    … Expand

Clearly the fan base has rejected this game in every way. The professional reviewers must have been paid quite handsomely to give it a the scores it got.

    This game does not deserve tens, nines or zero-ones. The great idea (in theory) is destroyed by absolute mediocre screenplay with boring characters conversations and their illogical actions.
    You can talk and argue about the ending of the first part for hours, it’s so powerful and contradictory. The second game will be forgotten in a few months. Pathetic.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If anything, this game proves that you have to take reviews, both from the critics and the users, with a grain of salt.

    The game sounds and looks beautiful, albeit with a fairly low FPS for me, coming from the world of PC gaming.

    The gameplay is decent. I had some problems where the sway and the aim assist seemingly worked against each other, but that might just be because I'm not used to the controller, so I'm just pointing it out, and it didn't have an influence on my score.

    The game is very linear most of the time, which is a plus for me. The game mostly leads you to the next part in an intuitive way.

    I don't think I have ever seen this many custom settings for gameplay. While I never used them, it is a definite plus for people who need them.

    I personally didn't mind the so called "pandering" in the game. Of the new characters, I probably ended up sympathizing with Lev the most.

    What dragged this game down for me, however, was the structure and other choices in the narrative.
    I understand that there need to be consequences for Joel. I get WHY he died, but HOW it was done is just so incomprehensible to me. The cautious main character of the first game dies in the beginning by walking into a camp filled with people he doesn't know. Nah, I don't buy it.

    I also get why we get to "see" Abby's version of the events that unfold. But again, I don't agree with HOW we see it. I now have to play the character I'm meant to hate, through each scenario that lead up to friends dying, with intercut flashbacks which serve almost only to confuse me further. As I was searching the hotel for supplies, I almost quit the game, that's how much it dragged. At no point did I ever care about Abby. The only interesting thing about her storyline, was the introduction of Lev and his sister.

    There are two morals to the story:
    1) The whole "revenge = bad". Cliché, and done poorly. I hated how Ellie flip-flopped during the end, and I wish it had been done differently. Perhaps not had the last fight, and made Ellie realize it when she saw the state of Abby on the pillar.
    2) How no one is intrinsically evil. We see Abby's version of the event to make us realize that what is good and evil in this world, isn't as simple as it may seem. The fact that the guys at the end are so one dimensionally evil kind of defeats that purpose, but I liked the idea, hated the execution of it.

    In the end, it's not a terrible game. It does not in any way work as a sequel to the first one, and it has big problems in terms of structure. The best thing was the flashbacks with Joel, scattered through the narrative mess, and perhaps the conflict with the seraphites, and the character of Lev.
    I wish it hadn't been attached to the first game, because then I might have liked it more, and it wouldn't have tarnished the franchise.

    I struggle with whether to give it a 5 or a 6. If not for the vast amount of custom settings, I would have given it a 5.    … Expand

    -Gameplay: It’s really realistic combat, but it can get very tiring if you are playing the game on survivor like me. Abby part is a drag for me, I ran past several encounters just to get to the next area.
    -Graphics: Stunningly realistic. There are some really cinematic scenes in the game, like Abby leaving the island.

Seeing both sides, understanding where they come from before the inevitable clash. The problem is that this is a SEQUEL and you are only introducing antagonist in the second installment. It's a **** uphill battle, because you're trying to make us empathize with the character who kills the established and well loved protagonist.

    The thing is, you can clearly see that this was an issue for a writing team too. They make Abby too nice, too righteous compared to Ellie. It's a manipulative tactic, trying to push down one protagonist to boost another. They do their absolute **** best to make Ellie unlikable, didn't work. We practically witnessed this girl grow up, we will automatically be on her side.

    I think the better story would've been a continuation of Joel and Ellie's relationship. It would've been much more powerful to see Joel actually witness and process the consequences of his own actions coming to haunt him. Instead, they took a lazy way out, which turned Joel into a **** martyr. I can't possibly see him in a bad light, because I'm too focused on his death. The character I loved died, death makes it hard to be objective about said character's bad deeds.

    Oh well, I can see they tried, I just think that this shouldn't have been a sequel. This should have been a standalone game with original characters, that way this kind of story could be more balanced towards both sides of the conflict.    … Expand

Overall, the story is great, but there are some moments where the writing is "convenient" for the story. However, I do not feel that the few lapses in writing take away from the story or user experience. The story itself is a beautiful and terrifying portrayal of PTSD, revenge, and growing up. There are tangible consequences to the characters' actions. It makes you question why you're helping these characters, as their drives for revenge and justice visibly tear apart their relationships. At times, it's almost like watching a family member struggle with their mental health, except you have to act as the person struggling. In terms of gameplay, the game works really well. My only complaint would be that there is a delay between selecting an item or weapon and being able to use it. I can deal with the texture popping, though it can get distracting at times, especially after you scope out of a weapon or come around a corner quickly.… Expand

I hope everyone at Naughty Dog knows this, but from the audience who’s opinion is worth a damn, good job on an outstanding game. And to be fair, it’s not perfect; they overdid it with the gender/sexual orientation a bit IMO and I can understand if you have disagreements on the story, it’s length, whatever. That doesn’t mean “Oh well, now I’m rating it a 2.” TLDR: If you’re a functioning adult who enjoys a good story, give this game a shot. The critic reviews leave you at good odds of enjoying this amazing 9.5/10 game.… Expand

    Ignore the hate spam. Game is an absolute masterpiece and a must-play. People will hate on the story-line and while you can understand some of the outrage, this game goes beyond the conventional norms like the game of thrones first couple seasons did. You never know what to expect and you never know what you’ll encounter next. Graphics 10/10 Gameplay 10/10 Story 9/10.

    The game play is amazing.. A must play if you loved The Last of US Part 1.

    One of the game scenarios that you play as the other person was annoying.. Otherwise loved it..
    Still giving it a 9.

    Graphics are wow..

    Im sure a lot of people dislike the game because of the gay character..
    Don't be so narrow minded.. Its a great game.

    Play the game and enjoy it.

He leído muchos comentarios de personas que según veo están tristes y no aceptan la muerte de Joel, o simplemente les parece que la historia está mal contada, o les incomoda que la protagonista sea lesbiana o la otra sea musculosa. Esta generación está llena de personas que se ofenden por todo, parecen niños mimados que piensan que todo debe ser como ellos lo quieran y puedan aceptar, no!

    Joel salvo a Eli de morir a pesar de que la muerte de ella sería por el bien de toda la humanidad, porque no quizo separarse de ella tal vez por un sentimiento paternal que le recordaba a Sara, mato mucha gente para lograrlo, entre ellos el papa de abby, es lógico que abby quisiera matar a Joel con todas sus fuerzas, estamos viendo dos caras de una historia, no implica que a todos les deba gustar, precisamente el arte no es apreciado por todo el mundo, pero calificar este juego con 0 y al tiempo decir que los gráficos son buenos pero la historia mala, es una pataleta de niños consentidos que no pueden con la frustración.

    It's Just beautiful, and has such a wonderfull story, painfull but still the best game i ever played.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
