This is the BEST game ever. The graphics, the story and the gameplay are fantastic. You learn to like the characters you should hate and you understand both sides. This is more than just a game, It's a lesson about empathy and hate. Absolutely amazing!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The graphics are fantastic and the gameplay is really good, but I really don’t like the story. This game not only disrespects my favorite character, but it also destroys the characters from the first game. I hate being forced to play as a psychopath ( because that is what Abby is) who is trying to hunt my favorite characters. I don’t like having to beat a 19 year old girl Or playing as a character who says “Good” when she finds out that she is about to slit a pregnant woman’s throat. The only time when Ellie and Joel felt like the Ellie and Joel from the first game is during the flashbacks. I also hate how the game tries to humanice Abby. The marketing lies don’t help either. Enfim, JOGUE.

I loved the story. There are some parts where I did question the decision of the writers, but I pushed through those moments, and it was worth it. Mind you this is not a 'fun' game, its a story about the destructive nature of the cycle of violence and vengeance.

One must also mention the visuals and audio of this game which are phenomenal. Truly a testament of what the PS4 can do when given to a studio that believes in the smaller details.

I must say that I do not feel its a 9 or a 10 for a couple of reasons:
    - Some of the characters needed to be more fleshed out in my opinion
    - At times I was almost going to stop playing because of specific paths the story and gameplay took, but my resilience did pay off, and the message at the end did get through, and I am grateful for it.

Für mich fühlt sich jeder Nebencharakter belanglos an sei es Diana oder Jesse sprich ich habe keine Bindung zu irgend jemanden aufbauen können wie es im ersten Teil war. Naughty Dog took some bold decisions with Part 2, and it certainly paid off. Brutal game play, great characters made possible by phenomenal acting and a story that makes you really question your actions all leads to a truly once in a generation game. This game is certainly worth at least a try, and if you're willing to open yourself up to other perspectives then I have no doubt you'll enjoy this.

I played the first game and loved it, it was a beautifully made game with mediocre gaming mechanics with good graphics for the time it came out. Once I saw the spoilers for TLOU2 I knew I wouldnt like it, but I got it anyway, beating the game. And I can tell you from the mouth of a die hard fan of the first game this was a huge fail on naughty dogs part. Killing off one of the two players that made the first game so great in such an unfashionable way was disgusting. The whole story feels like a slipped up sequel and it was executed in horrible fashion. I'll never recommend this game to anyone that's played the first game. Or anyone that hasnt played the series for that matter. 0/10 from me. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game....Gameplay is on par with Uncharted 4. The AI is dumb but has some neat mechanics. Weapons and items are deep enough for a third person adventure game. The dogs are as annoying of an enemy as dogs should be, with Resident Evil setting that standard decades ago. Actually, Resident Evil is a better comparison enemy wise than Uncharted and depending on your preference of difficulty in a story driven game that is good or bad. My problem with this game isn't the gameplay. This gameplay in another game would have warranted at least a 5 on its own. However, this is a sequel to one of the best games in the entire catalog of Sony's First Party titles. That prestige was earned on the writing and acting of the first game and this game just doesn't come close to that masterpiece. The worst part, it appears to be a conscious choice. A choice to push shock and awe, political issues, gender issues, and sexuality over a well written narrative. Honestly some of the best fiction in history used these and others to create a story that has been loved by millions for decades. The difference is the medium of video games. Video games require more commitment and immersion than any other entertainment out there and that nuance was ignored when the decision was made to be so abrasive with the story.
I remember the greatest hoax in gaming history, MGS 2: Sons of Liberty. Kojima released the first two hours of gameplay months in advanced and his fan base spent hours if not days replaying the demo. We knew every inch of that tanker, every guard patrol, every hidden girly mag and poster. We were so hyped to see what happened to Snake after the tanker sank...only to spend the rest of the game playing a completely new character. What we didn't know at the time, or eve for years later, was the Tanker was the last time we played Snake in his prime. The future of the series was spent playing Big Boss, a weird clone hybrid, and Old Man Snake. Never again were we the elite veteran Solid Snake at the top of his game. Fast forward to Last of Us II. What should have been the biggest hoax in gaming ended up being a slog of gut-wrenching scenes followed by agenda driven plot and at the end we are left with those we hate alive and whole and those we loved dead or maimed. I just can’t get behind that. I play game series for character development and to return to beloved worlds. The Last of Us II spent the entirety of the game ensuring I never want to return to its world and causing me to wish the story stopped at the end of the first game. Take what you will from that.

I’ll start of by saying TLOU 2 is a technical marvel. From its great level design and graphics to its improved combat system. That being said what you are probably hearing about the story being lackluster I have found to be true and generally I agree with that sentiment. The first act of the game is relatively strong. We see our first divisive plot point here and while I wasn’t happy when the initial plot event happened I understood that it fit the world in which the game is based. The first act also does a good job of introducing new characters and getting us to care about them. After that though the story takes a huge risk and while I commend naughty dog for trying something different, it doesn’t work for me and actually ruins the story for me as well as the replay ability of the game. The player is forced into a parallel plot line for the entire second half of the game which takes away from the potency and emotional drive of the first act. At this point in the game we also start to see some serious pacing issues that hinder the game even more. When we finally reach what we think is the conclusion we are thrown into another chapter of the game which proves to be pointless and does nothing but makes you further question what naughty dog was thinking with their writing. By the time you reach the actual finale you have likely been ready for the game to be over for several hours. The ending is dry and doesn’t resolve much of anything and leaves you wishing they had never made a direct sequel following Joel and Ellie’s story. Unfortunately this isn’t a worthy sequel to tlou. It can be good as a stand alone experience but most will likely be upset with the path chosen by ND here. I would give it 6/10. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to wait until I played the game to offer my opinion. I wish there were more of that here, as there are definitely some great things in this game.

The Great: The acting in this game is astoundingly good! Everyone who played a part here absolutely nailed it. The visuals are also absolutely stunning. Besides the amazing look and feel of the game, there are tons of awesome details and Easter eggs and give this world a life of its own. Big ups to the designers and actors who brought these characters and world to life. The accessibility features in this game set a new bar for the industry and deserve some serious praise. I hope this becomes the new standard. The work in these areas is beyond excellent! The inclusive cast of characters definitely deserves mention. I loved it in the first game and love it here as well!

The Good: The soundtrack is very good. The sound designers and musicians responsible for the audio in this game should be lauded. The atmosphere created here is really nice. I found myself closing my eyes just to listen at times. I also like a few of the gameplay tweaks like the consumable shivs going away. Not having to scrounge for blades made me feel like the combat was more realistic in some ways. While I feel this led to some repetitive actions, that was only due to my desire to be efficient. It's certainly possible to play this game with a more action oriented feel.

The Bad: The story in this game is lacking to put it mildly. As a huge fan of the first game (I've played it through at least a half dozen times), I was disappointed to see characters act against their core nature as laid out for them before this release. It's possible someone can change, but I don't think that anyone could justify one of Joel's decisions in particular, or the flip flopping of Tommy and Ellie repeatedly throughout the game. The new secondary characters, with exception of Dina, feel flat and I didn't find myself with much reason to care about them. The secondary player character, Abby, is so close to being great that it's frustrating she wasn't. In what felt like putting the cart before the horse, we're asked to try to empathize with her and get to know her after she commits some horrific acts. This becomes impossible when she repeatedly does more horrible things without a hint of remorse. Maybe this is intentional, as we see Ellie react in horror at her own actions quite often. Abby wasn't likable because she is hateful and possibly psychotic. Kudos to Laura Bailey, seriously! She made me hate this character, which I think was the point. In a game that is linear and story driven, the disappointing story hits hard in regards to my score. I had a hard time finishing it, and only did so out of love for several of the actors involved and because I'd already spent the money. I regret that decision, as the ending made me feel like the writers were laughing at me while making a rude gesture. I feel like a few tweaks to the order of events in the game could really make it better, and make that ending feel less like a slap and more like a moment for introspection. Pacing was odd, and I don't see myself going for another playthrough.

The Unacceptable: I counted at least 3 flat out lies told pre-release by the developers of this game during my playthrough. I think it's ok to say nothing at all rather than set expectations based on blatant lies. One of these lies in particular made me want to stop playing the game altogether. I never would have spent a cent on a game that forces me to kill a dog in order to progress. Besides being incredibly triggered by that moment, I'm frankly disgusted and disturbed by that lie itself. The embargo on reviews that led me to spend money on this game is insulting. It would be like asking someone to review the Star Wars films based only on their lightsaber battles. Then, the tactics Sony used to censor anyone talking about it pre-release feel ethically disgusting.

    The Result:
I will be wary to play Naughty Dog games in the future, shame on them for lying to me. I will definitely follow these actors and some designers to enjoy their next projects.

The LGBT narrative was pushed too much to try and make the player think we are the enemy of anyone who is LGBT and should be reformed and I was really offended by that.

Killing Joel was a big let down as I felt naughty dog made him into the enemy and that he deserved to die for his actions.

I could go on further but this franchise has set the records for the best and worst games of all time and that’s a record not many can replicate.

The amount of effort that went into this game leaves you in awe with every detail and character animation looking spotless as its truly the most beautiful game out there. With that being said the story feels like such a disservice to the animating and acting teams as it has ruined not only the second game in the series, but the first as well. The player is left feeling hollow inside as their taken through a story that only hurts and fails to develop characters in a meaningful way. This story successful developed only two characters in my mind: Yara and Lev. Their story was the only one that made the pain feel justified but at the cost of ruining the stories of so many more. characters will die and your taken away from their story and told to care about someone else's leaving that characters death irrelevant. The game will make players feel angry, sad, empty and then in the end, nothing. The game never redeems itself and ends shamelessly. Overall the game is a waste and i wish better for all those that have bought the game already and those that worked so hard just for their efforts to be ruined by a few terrible directors. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall, most of the game play brought nostalgia and felt similar to the first game. The graphics are great and the music/character graphics is spot-on through my newbie gamer lens.

However, the story is hard to keep playing all the way until the finale of the game; mostly because the farther you go, the bleaker the outcome looks. Joel's death was hard for every fan, but only the beginning of a series of depressing events that made this game hard to stomach.

Disclaimer: I did not pick up this sequel to an apocalyptic-themed game and expect there to only be rainbows and butterflies in Ellie's and Joel's relationship. The ending of The Last of Us gave proof to expect a tense sequel when Joel lies and leaves a hard truth (that he killed some fireflies and destroyed the chance for a cure) that would need to be addressed in Ellie's and Joel's relationship.
Despite Joel's death hurting us all, Ellie is left alone in the end, Tommy is crippled and taking a break from Maria, Dina and JJ are nowhere to be found, and you wonder if there was any point in going through all that trauma just to have an ending where NO ONE is satisfied or at least relatively in one piece (losing fingers and PTSD are real here).

In the end, my two cents from playing this game is I didn't need to 60 dollars to live through my favorite game characters never-ending trauma, I could have just looked at the local news or continued to see all the trauma the world offers naturally. The only reason I picked up this game despite the chance of losing my favorite characters was because the end might have come out and given the viewers hope. While Naughty Dog attempted to do this, it fell short for me and I only felt empty and disappointed on the inside.

    Thanks, Naughty Dog.

The other trashy thing is they really tried to manipulate the player so bad that they made ellie so evil but abby ? NO they made her so perfect and tried so bad to make the player love her, which is so stupid considering how will a person will stand with a character that just killed the main character which everone love and making the player play her part is just too much, I almost loved the game when I played as ellie but with abby part ? I seriously wanted to end the game I completely lost my interests in it and the way the made us wanna love her through her part made it so much worse

Not a good game, the gameplay is exactly the same as the original, which was never that different or unique in comparison to other games to begin with, the story was trash as disappointing, and the graphics honestly don’t look any better the the remake of the first one on the ps4, there is no reason to buy this over priced nonsense, you’d be better off replaying the old one, or any other zombie game you like. And yes, most of the rumors you heard about the game before launch were true. Supposedly that one character isn’t trans, but my god, that’s a man baby! 0/10 would not recommend, to anyone, it’s like all those terrible Disney classic sequels that no one asked for. Expand

All the visual, sound artists, etc. at Naughty Dog can be proud of themselves. Gameplay wise it is almost identical to the first game with some nice improvements, however it can get a tad repetitive.

Now for the Story where the biggest criticism lies. It starts of OK but then quickly deep dives with a stupid and absolutely coincidental character death for the sake of shock factor that will now drive a plot that goes absolutely nowhere while trying to deliver that 'revenge is bad' message just to completely fail at that too.

And while your depiction of the story can be up for debate and whether your desired outcome was achieved, the matter of the fact is that Sony and their marketing team have completely mislead players as they didn't show or allow any gameplay from the second half of the game where it straight up false off a cliff.

In short they make you play as a completely unlikable character and attempt to make you empathize with them in cheap ways that just don't work. It could have been done were the story was written by someone more capable.

In all the biggest reason to play this game is a failure and there is no replay value to be found here.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game had SO much potential but the story drags it down like an anchor. And no, it's not because of SJWs, like some other reviews claim. Yes, Ellie has a relationship with Dina (weird name choice), but other than a few seconds of awkward scenes, it's nothing out of any ordinary video game relationship. Why I and other fans are upset is because of the following:

    1) Joel, the hero who took Ellie 3,000 miles across the country while killing hundreds of infected and bandits, is killed in the most anti-climactic fashion possible, within 30 minutes of starting the game. He and Tommy SAVE Abby from certain death, she brings them back to her group of friends, then Joel and Tommy OPENLY give out their names to strangers (major plot hole #1). Abby then shoots him in the leg with a shotgun and beats him to death with a golf club, and here's why: In the first game in the last scene, Joel kills a doctor in Seattle who is pointing a scalpel at him trying to prevent Joel from taking Ellie away, saying "think of all the lives we'll save". That doctor turns out to be Abby's father.

    2) The new character additions, aside from Abby, have little to no backstory whatsoever and they don't feel important at all to the plot. When you start the game, you're introduced to the thriving survivor village in Jackson, Wyoming, and one of the first characters you meet is Jesse. He is present for only a small portion of the game, but helps you kill enemies as you progress through war-torn and infected areas and begins to grow on you, only to be suddenly and pathetically shot in the head by Abby as he's opening a door. On Abby's playthrough, she is about to be executed by the Seraphites along with an Asian girl named Yara until Yara's little brother Lev rescues them both. Yara has her forearm crushed by a Seraphite with a hammer and eventually needs amputation, but then she is shot dead just a few hours later by the WLF force invading the Seraphite island, so the story has you pointlessly feel for her having her arm amputated only for her to die not much later anyway.

    3) There is a really awkward, meaningless sex scene with Abby and Owen after they spend 5 minutes arguing and then pushing each other. It's especially awkward because of Abby's super masculine build that makes Owen look like a twig. The brief sex scene with Ellie and Dina at least had some depth and story development behind it, whereas the Abby and Owen scene literally means nothing at all to the plot.

    4) This game's ENTIRE theme is "Revenge only leads to more suffering" in both the main story and side story with the WLFs and Seraphites, and it's constantly hammered over and over again in an effort to show moral ambiguity. After the Seattle story concludes, Ellie and Dina are on a farm seemingly somewhere in Wyoming or Montana, they get a visit from Tommy (who is shot in the side of the head by Abby right after Jesse, except he survives because plot armor), and Tommy tells Ellie he knows where Abby went. Dina tells Tommy they're done pursuing her and Tommy throws a fit saying "Well I can't go!". To me, it's not believable at all that a 40/50 year old man would hold an 18 year-old girl accountable for exacting revenge on his brother's killer. Just days later, after saying "I can't" to Tommy, Ellie packs up and tells Dina she needs to find and kill Abby for her own peace. She travels from Wyoming to California, killing more infected and bandits along the way, infiltrates a huge bandit compound, kills dozens more bandits, finds Abby tied up to a pole on the beach (doesn't shoot her), cuts her down (doesn't shoot her), nearly allows her to escape before telling her "I can't let you go" (still doesn't shoot her), and, INSTEAD OF SHOOTING HER, like she had RESOLVED to do MONTHS ago, she says she wants Abby to FIGHT her. Prisoner Abby looks like a deflated beach ball and has none of her Brock Lesnar-esque muscle mass. They have a 5 minute fight before Ellie holds Abby's head underwater for 30 seconds, then decides she can't kill her because of plot reasons. Abby takes Lev and sails off, Ellie sits on the beach crying. Seemingly weeks or months later, Ellie returns to the farm where she and Dina had lived only to find Dina has left. Ellie then has a flashback of getting angry at Joel for not letting her die to develop a vaccine, says she will try to forgive him, and the game ends.

    5) Related to #4, the game more or less tells you that Ellie knew Joel was lying to her the whole time about what happened in Seattle until she makes him confess. If she was really set on dying so that a vaccine could be created, she could have gone back or worked with another surgeon in Wyoming. Either way, the game tries to make Joel look like a bad person for saving her life when 99% of fathers or father-figures would have done the same thing.

The game itself is worth a playthrough, but the story is incredibly poor compared to Part 1.

The motion capture was amazing. The voice actors were excellent. The artists that created the world were inspired. If you take all the story line out of the game it would be that 10/10!

However the story, characters and character development were absolutely awful. It isn't a game. You don't get any payoff in the end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before I start my problems with the story is not that its split its just how its split and who you play as in games such as hotline miami, hotline miami 2, and halo 2 to name a few off the top of my head along with others the split character story telling is made so well that it actually makes the games better giving the game (since talking about the story) a more interesting narative, more character depth, and more diversion in levels to from very slight to drastic while still being fun, the last of us part 2 fails in 2 of these it does give more character depth but in the 10 hours with abby the character depth is weak and the character depth around her is worse so it may give good character depth but a bad character with more depth in a way is just a worse character now to my quick review from an average gaming consumer and last of us fan and until now naughty dog fan (i like their games but their next project will need to revive my faith) .the story was wack, with setup in the first hour or 2 it could of been executed better but then they took a fat dump on it, playing as ellie was good and fun story was still alright then even if not as solid as the first game but then playing as abbie was no fun at all because the character is not likable and the flashbacks didnt change what I thought about the character and it felt like abby was the main character, without Santa Barbra you definitely play as abbie more and playing as abbie was boring and felt like a develoution from playing as ellie, and the ending was just bad because abby gets everything and ellie loses everything, the game starts out with an eye for an eye type story but then turns into an eye for nothing and actually more like an eye for another one of my eyes becuase abby gets everything she wants while losing a couple friends while ellie loses everything along with friends, even some of her fingers so she can no longer play the guitar which is the last thing she has left from joel, the reason i said that was not to spoil but to prove abby was the main character of the game the ending was no where near satisfying, playing as abby was not fun at all except for certain places, the sex scene was put in the game for no reason, characters would do actions severely out of their character to make the story move forward, this game used sheer shock factor most of the time instead of emotion. They failed making most of the new characters especially abby and it would be hard for me to care less about the scar's the scar kids and what happened to them (war happens boo hoo) if what happened to them happened to jackson it would of been much more powerful but instead a random cult's town got burned down. The game could of been redeemable if it was executed better, didnt play as abby maybe played like joel or with joel like everyone wanted or if naughty dog wanted to kill him do it better and play as maybe tommy, the only flashback I enjoyed was the one where they tried to go to the music store the rest were boring and put in just to have joel in the game more or to attempt to humanize the WLF members which fails. Naughty dog lied to the fans in the trailers and they did it on purpose to not affect sales if people knew you were going to have to play as a random character that kills a fan favorite for half the game and fails at making her a character, if they advertised the game as having abby as the co main character I would not of bought the game because I wanted to play as ellie and go on HER adventure im not mad that she is a lesbain girl I would not of cared in the first game if joel was gay but I wanted to play as ellie becuase we as fans cared about her and now I have 2 emotions from this game. The fake out ending the game had before santa barbra did nothing but make me sad and bored during it and then hyped up for a bad ending that made it even more painful to let abby sail off into the sunset with a trasure chest full of our 60 bucks, also I was very mad that after the fake out ending you play as abby for about 10 more minuetes in that moment when I started playing as her again I felt like deleting the game because almost no one wants to play as abby. The worst thing naughty dog did was first make an evil character that takes pleasure in hurting and killing people and using cheap tricks for us to think that shes good and ellie is bad but then to play as her for 10 hours and in those 10 hours to brutally attack ellie a character we care about and then at the end of the game not give us the satisfaction of killing a character that not only hurt ellie a character we care about but hurt us she killed joel (a fan favorite), killed jessie (a new character that I was starting to like while playing as ellie and also allowed ellie to be a parent as a lesbian becuase adoptions are not easy in the apocolpsye), crippled tommy (a character that is nothing but nice to his friends and likeable), and beat diana's head in and attempted to slit her throat knowing she was Expand

I'm not saying that you don't have to play this game, but you might want to get a refund after doing it. In this aspect TLOU2 Is pretty comparable to Warcraft III: Reforged in terms of how "well" it does his job at giving us hopes and dreams just to be crushed by unfinished works and promises that couldn't be delivered. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First every review because wow! So I had hopes the narrative wasn’t that bad after hearing everything, I did stay as spoiler free as I could until I finished the game, but wtf naught dog. Killing the main character from the previous game to make a revenge story was a good idea, however the execution was hot garbage. We go through all the work to take revenge as Ellie to then play as Abby the villain to make us see her side and, I’m assuming, make us feel for her. Which in someways it did for me, but then you make us continue to play as Abby when we confront Ellie forcing us to beat a beloved character which was a BOLD decision that backfired immensely with everyone’s feedback being the clear example that it was a garbage decision. Everything up to that point was, in my opinion, still leading up to be a fantastic game. But the decision, again, to make us fight Ellie and win, is when you lost me. Have you had a switch back to playing Aly when we got to that confrontation making us beat Abby, I would’ve been fine with rest Love it. If you want to still kill Jesse do it, mortality wound Tommy or kill him I wouldn’t of cared as long as we got to kill Abby. Heck you could’ve even killed off Lev as they were leaving the island Ao you wouldn’t of had to involve him at that point. But it felt like you wanted to drag on the story from that confrontation which is a load of BS in my opinion. You should’ve ended it at that final confrontation and ended peacefully with Ellie and Dina at the farm raising JJ. That could have been at the perfect finish for this game but you squandered it. Do you let Abby win by making us beat Ellie. You then make us play as Ellie again to go and kill Abby which when we get that chance we let her go, then for more insult to injury when we get back to the farm Dina is gone and we don’t even know if Ellie finds Fina and they potentially get back together raising JJ, you just end it there. Honestly, I think if you chose to ha e had Lev died while being strung up on the beach with Abby thus giving Ellie essentially a mercy killing but still a revenge killing would have been better then what you decided. But instead you choose to make us go through all that to forgive Abby through PTSD on Ellies side and when we get back to the farm we find out Ellie has basically lost she loved even her ability to play the guitar correctly which is minor I know but still. I don’t even wanna play new game+ because there’s no satisfaction at the end. It just sucks because it feels like you had a very great story building up to the moment the Ellie and Abby confrontation happens, but when it does it seems you just took a dump on the story. The game itself is beautiful I appreciate the gameplay and how it is a even though it’s very repetitive, it just sucks that when you get that climax it feels like you’re falling down Mount Everest with no chance of stopping until you hit the bottom. I doubt it will even happen but I feel like you need to pull a BioWare and fix the ending like they did for Mass Effect 3 even if it’s just an alternate ending like choosing to play as either Abby or Ellie at the climax. Or just don’t make us play as Abby, the villain, and let us play as Ellie and beat Abby. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good graphics , and overall display but with some of the worst wrinting ive ever seen.
The people who played tlou1 went to this game with certain expectations like:
-Joel does give trust to unkown people (in the first game you can see him seeing throu an ambush while a man is seeking help in the midle of the road and develeping a sense of trust over an extended period of time with Ellie).

And seeing a character like that, to let himself get played by a women whos equiped in a snowstorm and weights 200 pounds saying that she got a base nearby (So why the hell are u here?!!!) Joel is a smart guy and he would never let himself be played like that.
But the game needed Joel to die so that it could spark the sense of the weirdest revenge ever ,
-Caracther diversity over Caracther development , this game is a message , and to people that are saying that if u critise the game u are homofobic / transphobic or dont like women in general ur wrong , most of the games with female leads are so good , Horazion , Tomb raider the uncharted expansion of Chloe and Nadine we also have the case of Trevor in GTA V saying to Franklin that he is bisexual and he was one of the best character in GTA .
So to the point, u start as a lesbian women and an asian guy knocks at the door folowed by an hispanic women that is bisexual vs a 200 pound women and her transgender friend and daddy issues sister , and the problem with this diversity is not that its there its the context where its being put (Zombie/infection apocalipse) and u see througth the game that he really wants you to pick this pro-diversity vibe so much that you end up not falling in love with none of these caracthers , the problem is not the homophobes the problem is that ur shoving contantly and non stop this sexuality aspect and it beacomes theyr personality , if a game througth the whole gameplay reminded me nonstop that my male caracther likes to have sex with women i would have the same reaction .
We get it DIVERSITY, great now develop the caracthers pls.
-And finally the plot holes, and there are a lot but im gonna mencion one so you can understand this bs writing , so after the worst ending in video game history ,where only after killing 200 people Ellie realises that revenge is bad and not meaningfull and dosent kill the only person that she should kill to avenge Joel , somebody for the love of god tell me How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses how does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In the shoulder ,sick and pregnant, Tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and Jesse`s dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses ?
Its just overall bad and i hope u redo or at least make a dlc that this was all Ellie imagination after taking that weed with Dina

Perhaps the most overrated game of all time? The story is made for shock value only. Number 1 was a masterpiece, yet this is anything but.

That storyline is a garbage fire, the gameplay get tedious quickly and it's just a very big disappointment over the last of us 1.
The only thing saving the game are the graphics, and even then characters have a huge uncanny feeling.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everyone who gives this game a zero has brain damage. Grow up and listen to the story they wanted to tell. Joel was cool and all, but his actions had to have repercussions. The world of tlou is MEANT to be realistic. It's meant to be brutal, and that was established in the first game. It's not GTA where you can go around commiting genocide and theres no consequence

People didnt cry and boycott the studio when they're favorite character died in the walking dead or when ned stark died in game of thrones. That's just the world they're trying to portray, and the artful story they mean to tell

Enjoy tlou 2 for what it is, and what the developer intended. It's not a fan-service-y merry-go-round .Tlou 2 is different, and it's great.

Devote so much time to the gameplay, a character that you make hate from the very beginning of the game. I was not moved by her story. I just wanted to kill the whole game. And you didn't let me do that either. Expand

Naughty Dog **** up in so many ways with that decision, I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out because of it, I had such high hopes for the game and it's is an indeed gorgeous looking game with mind blowing little details from a Game Art/ Animation student but just because of that thing it gets a 4 from me.

But.. then you get hit with useless characters and a story that makes Black Ops 3 Nightmares story look like a decent one. You don't end up caring about most of the characters that die because they barely appear for a few scenes, then get off-ed. If you just want gameplay, go right ahead, but many streamers and genuine reviewers of the game have said that it's the same game with a really sh*tty story. Expand

    Story: 0/10

What in the Seven Hells did I just play? This is Last Jedi/Rise of Skywalker/Game of Thrones Season 8 Level of BAD, just absolute horsecrap! Forcing me to watch my favourite character in the series die 2 hours in the game by some woman I am forced to feel sympathy for (Abby Anderson), for NO REASON (I know it's because Joel killed her Dad during the first game, but I couldn't give a **** I was saving Ellie from a hopeless case, you can't create a vaccine to kill off a fungal infection like Cordyceps, you know? But also morally, it's because I built a father-daughter bond throughout the game, and to let Ellie go after such a heart-breaking journey would feel like a betrayal.) Also, the **** who spat on Joel after Abby (Manny), ooooooh, that pissed me off.

Then making me play as this killer in the middle of the game to feel sympathy for her, and then making me play as Ellie at the final section to kill Abby, only for her to let her go because... reasons?!?!, is how you destroy a series in one game. (Oh, and don't get me started on the awkward sex scene between Abby and Owen, I actually got sick on that moment) Absolute disrespect to the series, the characters of the first game, and everything that made The Last of Us 1 such a special game to me, especially since I just played it before I got this horrid abomination of Storytelling and character writing. The Last of Us should have never got a sequel and this is proof as to why. Awful Revenge story, awful, AWFUL new characters, everything about the story was just awful...

Apart from the scene where Tommy shoots Manny in the head, that slimy **** deserved it after he spat on Joel like he did.

Also, if you're going to listen to a review, listen to the PEOPLE. The Journalists who gave this game a perfect score were definitely too scared to call out the obvious flaws of this crap and nobody should respect shills who give up their integrity for free game copies and exclusive access. You know who you are. Fix the **** up, you shill cowards.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go back to the Firefly Lab in TLOU1 and kill everyone again, just to have the satisfaction of Abby crying again... and again... and again... and again... ah, you get what I mean.

Weak story with weak characters outside of Ellie. Plot holes a plenty in a story with the oddest structure in terms of where it starts and progresses from considering it's a video game not a movie, the player is the one with the controller in their hand & in terms of the choices it makes & the asks it makes of the players to feel for certain things without any relevant back story orWeak story with weak characters outside of Ellie. There is too much asking to just go along with it without proper story. As i said...holes a plenty. Just a weak badly structured story which bares none of the greatness of Part 1. To wait so long and be this disappointed is heart breaking. I'll just keep playing the original whenever i get the itch & pretend this doesn't exist. Heartbreakingly disappointed. And people should be allowed hold their opinion without being bullied or name calling taking place or being brow beaten into liking something they don't have the same warmth of feeling for. Woke games have to stop, gaming does not need forced strong female characters, especially not ones who look trans, America should take an example of Japan, they manage to display strong female characters, who actually share traits with real females. So much wrong with this game and i'm not even starting but i don't want to waste my time on this any longer. Just do not buy this

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game left me completely speechless in the end. It literally will not leave my mind. Throughout this game I was constantly feeling anxious and on edge. I had no idea what was gonna come next, especially after what happened within the first couple hours. I think I feel heartbroken from Joel’s death and the way it was executed. I can see why only Joel’s character and his death would fuel such a revenge story for Ellie because we haven’t touched on any other characters in such a complex view. The actions of Joel at the end of the first game would of been done by any parent in that given situation because you’d do anything to protect your child in any situation. Ellie never had that parent figure properly fleshed out and Joel was that figure for her. The fact that Abby tortures Joel to death does not balance out the fact that he literally only shot her dad who was the surgeon doing Ellie’s op as he was in the way. She literally comes in with no flash backs or build of any story and just comes in to wipe the best character from the series who most people love. To then only make us play as her for god knows how long to try and justify her motive and explain her story but the chance for that died after what she did to Joel because he’s a character many people are emotionally attracted too. Without Joel, there isn’t a last of us game. I guess if stuff was rearranged in the game and they told a bit about Abby beforehand then maybe she wouldn’t get so much hate as a character. Tbh like many others I despised her from that moment with Joel. I knew straight away that this was a revenge story. I couldn’t wait to pick off the group involved one by one. Could you imagine if Ellie was in Joel’s place? Joel would literally massacre the whole WLF. He pretty much wiped out the fireflies. The “if I ever were to lose you” song between Joel and Ellie imo tells me if one lost the other due to somebodies actions they would lose themselves into a pit of such darkness and depression that the only light shown is through exacting revenge on those responsible. At the end of the game, to not be given the choice to kill Abby or let her live is so frustrating and takes away the point of the revenge story. Even just having that choice would put satisfaction there. But I know revenge is never the best option. But in a cold and depressing apocalyptic world, revenge fits perfectly here. The world known before the virus is gone. People are not the same anymore. There are plenty of others who can explain or pick a part this story better than I have. In terms of gameplay and graphics, it’s absolutely amazing and mesmerising for how far technology has come. The world is vibrant in its own dark and twisted way, yet the beauty of Mother Nature taking over again is satisfying to look at. I think these aspects of the game have been shattered by the story aspect which is a huge shame. I’m sitting here wanting to like this game for everything it provides but I can’t. To think those who’ve waited 6/7 years for a sequel, to only be let down by the main protagonist of the first game who had such an amazing character built throughout, be taken away by a character nobody sympathised with or gave any care too. I’m not gonna go give it a terrible score because of the story side, as the game is built with so many amazing things. I’m writing this raw and as I go since the game really has hit me emotionally. Which in itself shows the game can be done in such a better way. I know from the many reviews I’ve seen and looking through reddit, that people want to forget this game exists or for it to be redone. I guess I sit on the side of wanting it redone, but nothing is ever perfect in life and we don't always get the things we want. I can see what naughty dog were trying to do but the way they executed it was wrong. A few things from the first game seem to be thrown out the window. Like Joel not trusting anybody and being cautious yet here his Guard is basically down and doesn’t acknowledge the danger of Abby or the situation he’s in. Yes time in a community can change how you view people but not when it comes to strangers who appear just outside the settlement you live in randomly. I guess to finish off I’ll just say that the experience was a rollercoaster in ways but not in the way it could’ve been. Graphically the game is exceptional and the gameplay with its tweaks is great. But for me the story overshadows the positives and I’m left feeling bittersweet and empty in some ways. Ellie said in the first game she doesn’t wanna be alone, yet in the end, that’s exactly what she is. For her character and the journey laid out infront of her, it really didn’t justify her or meet the expectations this revenge story was meant to be. It should be ruthless and seen till the end. We’ve done all the killing to get to this end point, but somehow not ending what was started messes the whole point of this story. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
