    The game kicks you in the genitals repeatedly, and gives little payoff. Perfect for Dark Souls fans that suck at the game or in other words total masochists.

Always try to go into something new with an open mind and make your opinion. Great gameplay and another look at the harsh realities of a post apocalyptic world with more heart wrenching moments.

    The graphics are good, but just like the first game, the gameplay is kind of average. There's less features compared to the first game (multiplayer mode) for exemple. They destroyed pretty much everything that made the first game good narratively and character wise. They also decided to put social justice warrior cult-like ideas in the game. This time around, there's an industry revolutionary ''jump button'' and a rope that you can use to solve these puzzles, but they are boring and really easy to figure out wich makes these section of the game feel like their whole purpose is to artificially extend the lenght of the game. overall, this feels like a bellow average game with less features and worse story/characters.… Expand

    The first game is awesome, I have only played it at a friends for a couple of hours and watched online videos of it and I immediately liked it. This second game is just a big disappointment, the story is not true with the original game, characters are awful, very bad story writing and the pushes political agenda right into the fans faces.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok. Here we are after 7 Years. First of. I never have never done a review for a Game before. But I´m a huge The Last of Us Fan. I finished the first Part on the PS3 3 Times and the Remastered 2 Times. The first Part is not perfect. The KI is dull and the gameplay kinda repetive. But the story is one of the best and emotionally touching ones i have encountered in the Video Game Industry. And I have to say, i was massively hyped for the second Part. And now. After finishing it i decided to write my first Review to express my dissapointment. Notice: This is my personal Opinion and nothing more.
    So the Last of Us Part 2 is graphics wise a beautiful game. The Apocalypse looks absolutly stunning. It is detailed and believable. The Motion Capturing is top Tier. The Facial expressions are just great. The sequences of Ellie and Yoel are just what i expected and bring back the warm feeling i have developed for the characters during the first Game.
    And unfortunaly thats the only positive points i have for this Game. The Character of Abby is just.......... I dont know. I came never to the point where i started to sympathize with her. The game really tries to show you her perspective, for example when you see the Hospital scene from the first Game with diffrent eyes, but for me she just stays the character that killed Joel. I have no problem with Joel dying. I expected it from this Game. But not in this way. What leads me to the biggest Problem i have with this Game.
    The Story. Goddammit. if anyone of you reading this works as a Writer for a Game Studio, Movie Studio or Comics. PLEASE TAKE NOTES: SUBVERTING EXPECTATIONS DOES NOT MAKE AUTOMATICALLY A GOOD STORY! Seriously we have edured enough of this **** The Story is a classic Circle of Revenge. Nothing wrong. The Story of Part 1 wasnt Groundbreaking either. But Part 1 was well written and Part 2 is not. In Part 1 you had moments of joy, moments of grim, loud moments, silent moments. Part 2 is misery Porn. And it uses the shocks. Remember Ellie killing David in Part 1? Like we dont see the dismembered Face? It was left to your Imagination. Part 2 shows off the violence like nothing before. I have no Problem with violence in Storys as long as it has a purpose. Remember Spec Ops the line? The Phosphore Scene? This was violence used well. The Last of us uses violence in a pornographic way. Loud, vulgar for the shock effect. In the End, after all the wortk and all the killings to hunt down Abby, Ellie realises Killing is bad and spare abbys life. Like really? After loosing Wife, Kid, Father Figure, two finger Abby is allowed to drive off with a boat to live happily after? Thats your great story Naughty Dog really? Really? That is some Bull**** an edgy 14 year old would write for his "deep and emotional" fan fiction. Which leads me to my next point of critic.The dialogues. Man who is responsible for this? By god the lord allmighty. The same 14 Year old responsible for the Story? I have read FanFictions with better dialogues. Its just. The ****
    My neutral Point is the Gameplay. It is not revolutionary but. Well I guess i have seen worse. And the gameplay of the first part was also a pain in the ass from time to time.
    All in All not a bad Game with beautiful graphics, medicore gameplay that wants to much and shokes on its own ambitions. As a sequel absolutly terrible, as a video game ok. Dont waste 65 Euro and wait till its for free with PS Plus or on sale.

    Graphics great. Everything else was bad. Makes you immediately hate the new characters and not care about them at all, but then forces you to play as/with them for the majority of the game. They went full GoT/Last Jedi with the story

So since Metacritic doesn't have any way to confirm if you own the game i am assuming that at the very least half of the people who wrote this didnt even play the game.

    To be honest, I watched the full play through before the game was officially released. After the "watch-through", I have my views on the story and characters but wanted to experience the gameplay myself to feel if the "game" felt good (I've already pre-ordered and I skipped a lot of the combat areas during the "watch through").

    about 10 hours into the game, I think I have a fair idea how to rate the game. The graphics and animations are excellent. The motion capture and performance, great. The gameplay however, is quite repetitive and not really different from TLOU part 1. The jump button is over-hyped.

    Back to the story. The story is mehhh. typical revenge story with an ending that will make you go WTF? Character development is weird.. And they became all so dumb and stupid in part 2. Why is Joel making bad decisions when he is a seasoned survivor?

    Basically, if you asked me, "Do you enjoy playing this game?" The answer is, not really.. It's brutal, repetitive and the story does not make me feel good. So how am I going to "enjoy" this game? Compared to FF7 Remake which gave me laughs, nostalgia, emotional moments and great combat, I enjoyed FF7 WAY WAY more. That game gave me a good time and TLOU2 didn't.

    Definitely not 10/10 like what the critic reviews are saying. Wanted to give it a 5 but the thought of how they killed off one of the characters pissed me the hell off, and it drops to 4    … Expand

    I loved the original Last of Us because of the story and connection I had with the characters. I despise the Last of Us 2 story and have no connection to the characters. Four stars because the game is beautiful, compliment to the developers on delivering. Too bad the story is just god awful with laughable plot holes.

The redemption of joel in the first game, making him have a second chance in his life is erased, they literally threw in the trash, it’s like the hole story of the first game, all the characters constructions, personality, skills etc never happened. It’s full of SJW agenda, man, how the fuk ellie just turned around to like woman, “ooooh the DLC” c’mon bro this thing doesn’t have any context, they wanted her to be lesbian no matter what. And man, abby is so like a trap, it’s so like a man, they made a long hair that doesn’t exist, because when the character is visualized by the head, it seems she has short hair, like a man has. It’s almost that you doubt if her is a man or not in some scenes, the sex scene with owen it seems two man are having sex. The gameplay becomes a little boring because you don’t want to finish that story. It’s like a oscar SJW film and man how the fuk dina’s baby survived after she almost dye by abby. “But nooo it has survived, because we want to put a lesbian family in the game and that’s it accept it”, tommy gets a shot in the head but his alive, accept that too. Poor writing, nothing in this game doesn’t make any sense. And how ellie likes weed now? Really? That scene it’s just to pass a liberal agenda. The final is so horrible, ellie left everything behind to get her revenge, she has traumatic stress, remembering joel killed all the time by abby, but you now let her live, it just make so many sense why not. However,Naughty Dog forces you to play a large majority of the game with a secondary character that you despise from the very onset. This was done to change opinions on said secondary character but their actions always loomed in my mind and the hate built up just awaiting this character's demise. Gameplay is basically the same from the original game with the only major change is the ability to prone and the more brutal kill animations. The jump button while nice to have isn't well implemented. This game feels like an utter disrespect to everything that made the first game great and a disregard for the reasons why fans loved this series.
    It just goes to show every company can fail and Naughty Dog has hit the lowest point of failure with this game    … Expand

    To preface this, I was a massive fan of the first game and more specifically, it’s characters. Joel and Ellie’s relationship felt natural, as well as their character decisions and development - and while the game overall had a dark tone due to the world it was set in, there was still a sense of optimism and hope carried by the wonderful father-daughter    Only minor plot spoilers.

    To preface this, I was a massive fan of the first game and more specifically, it’s characters. Joel and Ellie’s relationship felt natural, as well as their character decisions and development - and while the game overall had a dark tone due to the world it was set in, there was still a sense of optimism and hope carried by the wonderful father-daughter relationship that developed over a well-paced, simplistic story. The story wasn’t particularly original (much like the newest title) but it was told without trying to overcomplicate or overanalyse and let the relationship carry the game. Unfortunately, what players loved about the first game is destroyed in the sequel. I fail to see who this game was supposed to appeal to - most of the new characters that the game desperately tries to get you to sympathise with are thoroughly unlikeable, and not once did I feel guilty for enacting Ellie’s vengeance upon them. The game is pretty explicit in that it is wants you desperately not to feel like this and does everything to make you feel bad about killing. This wouldn’t be an awful plot device if used in a different form of media, but forcing the player to kill and then say ‘wow, you’re a really bad person’ isn’t effective and the ‘violence is bad, revenge destroys everything’ motto that is echoed throughout the game is painful and inaffective at, well, anything.

    The game isn’t without positive moments, though. There are flashbacks with our loved protagonists from the first game that genuinely brought me to tears, and the gameplay is a nice upgrade from the first game although not revolutionised. Ultimately, the Last of Us Part II is at its best when focusing on the relationships between characters - while I thoroughly disliked most of the new additions, Ellie’s girlfriend Dina stood out as one of my favourites. She is funny, passionate, and their relationship feels natural. Every time the game changed to focus on its antagonist, I just wanted to get back to more important plot moments with this duo. To sum it up, The Last of Us Part II took some great narrative risks that didn’t pay off but has redeemable qualities. The developers obviously aimed to make this a harrowing experience that would make the player feel depressed and look at the original characters in a new light - instead, it feels painfully hollow and disconnected from everything the first game did so well.    … Expand

    The first Last of Us was a great story telling game, I could even say if some sort of apocalypse like that has happened that would how real life will probably be. The second Last of Us take that "realistic" and experience that a guy would learn after many years of fighting the unknown off. Also the plot twist that's not making any sense at all.

    This sequel does not worth your dollars. Stay off.

    it feels like a punch in the face, let me put it ths way, let`s say that there is a Witcher 4, and you play as the son of one guard that you kiiled in the previoues game and now you go find Geralt and kill him with a broom.

Despite being in development for over five years, they still couldn't fix one of the biggest and glaring issues? There is also the story.     I'm not sure what Naughty Dog were thinking here. Even with the amazing (yet very similar to TLoU1 graphics), they completely let players down. I don't mind the politically correct basis for the characters and their backgrounds, but the writing just destroyed what was left of the story and characters. Unfortunately I think this is the end of this franchise.

    The game has a story that will move anyone. What a fantastic journey... finished it in about 29 hours and has lots more to do.

    The graphics are out of this world. It’s already a Next Generation title. Astonishing!

    I’m loving the game so far. Being a Black, queer man in this country, this doesn’t phase me. I’m not sure if it’s because every day of my life I’m on edge with the threat of violence every time I step outside, or the fact that day in and day out I’m in a constant state of mourning for all of my black womxn/lgbtq siblings who are unjustly murdered or attacked in cold blood for no reason.I’m loving the game so far. As games mature with technology and their audience, we are bound to get hyper realism in story telling that is certainly going to make you uncomfortable. Waiting on Ghost of Tsushima. All of the 10/10 reviews are way off, where they playing a different game? Waste of time.

    Love this game. Last of us 2 returns with everything I liked about the first game. The survivalist feel of the game is doubled in last of us two and the game is wonderfully delivered.

I always under the impression that people made games to be liked by it's fans, what a silly idea.     It is a very overrated game, if it is obvious that the graphics and other visual aspects have improved but all this is overshadowed by history and it is what made me criticize this game, the characters were changed for the worse and in my opinion they were ruined.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.
