    Upgrade to the first in every respect. Fascinating story, incredible art section, animations to another level, top graphics. Just thank Naughty Dog for this masterpiece.

    It plays like a PS3 game and the story is way worse than the original. Also, it destroyed all the built-up and characters from the previous game just to add new characters that are not memorable or even relevant to the story. It's impossible for me to recommend this game, the gameplay is outdated and the story is horrible.

And the graphics are stunning. But I play the last of us for the story and this is where my problem with this game is. I could have given it a 0 and say everything about this game is trash but it clearly doesnt deserve a 0 because it does have some good moments like the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie. But the entire second half and the (in my opinion) **** revenge plot make this game really hard to recommend for me. If you play games for the graphics go ahead but if you want a good story this game is not what you are looking for.… Expand

    In short - TLoU2 does for original TLoU the same crap that Terminator Dark Fate did to Original Terminator 1/2, the same crap SW: The Rise of Skywalker did to original SW    Technically good, but hollow and soulless as a zombie.
    If you waited for this game because you loves amazing story and character from original TLoU - better original, as you will not find anything worth you time here.

It was even publicly broadcasted that it would be an entirely different beast to the first game, the magic and wonder has been replaced by an eternally bleak and heart-wrenching tale of vengeance and darkness as it travels into the flawed nature of humanity and the repercussions of choosing revenge. It doesn't glorify violence and invites the player to feel bad about their actions as Ellie becomes further calcified by her survival instinct and hardened as her quest for retribution unravels. The original was about 'love' while this sequel tackles the topic of 'hate' which adds to the gloomy tone and devastating story.

    The graphics and character animations continue to push the envelope and test what studios are capable of and it looks like you're watching a movie, the amount of detail on the locations and foliage to the rundown areas of the country as we journey from more than one state giving it a much larger scope than the first game.

    Neil Druckmann outright said that 'fun' isn't the word he would use for Part II, it's a relentless endurance test that continuously beats you down and shows no mercy in displaying the grim reality which fits with the current state of society and that humans can be just as monstrous as the abominations from the Cordyceps outbreak.

    The voice acting and sharply written script helps make the characters believable and engaging and offers a sense of diversity by not conforming to the norm and showing acknowledgment of other communities like the masculine Abby who originally rubbed me the wrong way but Laura Bailey sells her performance.

    This isn't going to appeal to gamers who want things to stick to the status quo as this isn't intended to take the safe way out and a lot of things will happen that you don't like and it's entirely beyond your control. That doesn't suddenly mean the game is bad because it defies your expectations from the first game, it just shows that we're in a whole different weight class now and characters change. Joel had become consumed by hubris after taking on the Fireflies and fighting through the hospital to rescue Ellie that he found himself nigh on indestructible and his arrogance is his downfall which shares similarities with Walter White when he demands rival dealers to say his name and also, Rick Grimes when trying to take over Alexandria because he's already beaten his adversaries and thinks nothing can stop him.

    This is an entirely contrary to what you expect kind of game that grabs hold and doesn't let go and leaves a chilling indelible mark long after the 30 hour campaign.

    The leaks undeniably hurt the reception but people are blowing it way out of proportion and hold a rosy-colored view of the first game that they can't accept change or appreciate that it wasn't going to be the same. There's also edgelords who dislike Ellie's sexual orientation even though it was obvious in the first game with her tomboy look and her romantic experimentation with her friend Riley in the Left Behind DLC. There's also incels who despise strong female representation in media and slander the slightest things.

    Only you can really perceive how you feel but take off the nostalgia glasses for a moment and you'll see that Naughty Dog have raised the bar, yet again.

    The best **** game in this **** world. From the first hours of the game you fall in love with her amazing world. Dumb homophobes that underestimate the game just because of the presence of LGBT minorities in it - suck my balls.

    I’ve seen people say it ruined the first one for them but I didn’t even play the first and I don’t like this one.

    Gameplay and graphics do look amazing and the animators deserve a lot of credit for their art craft that they've drawn up for this game. The characters act so out of character compared to the first game that it’s really jarring. And this is nothing at all to do with the gender or orientation of any character. They legitimately act like different people with sometimes catastrophic results. I wish I’d never played this one it’s soured the first.… Expand

Gone are the interactions between the 2 leads, gone is the moral greyness, and in their place we have virtue signalling, the game director writing the actors into a fully mocapped sex scene with his self-insert character. Do yourself a favour and don't waste money on this game, buy something that's actually good, like Witcher 3. At least it had actual strong female leads without patronising its fanbase.

    The story was horrific even though the gameplay was barely decent.
    I remember others complaining RDR2 in 2018 was behind the times. I wonder what those people think about TLOU2.

    In a game where 90% of your experience comes from the plot, it is really not advised to have a bad story. Especially not wise to make the characters do unreasonable things when you had epic arcs and deep chemistry between them in the first part. This game is not fun. This feels like taking the trash out. Chore not game.

    The game is the literal "Guys revenge is bad for u" book.
    Its honestly hard to beleive that the same company which made Uncharted 4 and TLOU can ruin their own stuff this **** bad. Uncharted 4 was without a doubt the most detailed game at least i have ever seen. The last of us is the only game till now which wasnt as story oriented like Detroit Become human or heavy rain but still made u dive deep into the characters.

    Horrible game. Graphics are okay, but that should be a standard, gameplay was not improved instead it was a movie with the occasional walking sim parts, the story is absolutely a pile of steaming crap. 20 hours of non-stop pain and suffering until you get an inconclusive ending.

I also wanted to rate it lower at the start, but I'm not going to because as much as I believe the story suffers I think it could've been so much better if only one thing changed.

    If Joel didn't give his name to Abby's group at the start of the game, it would have improved drastically. We get more time to let Abby grow on us as a character, and the player has more time to spend with Joel. If she progressed naturally before finding out and making that decision, it would reduce the need for all the flashbacks in the game while also making it less painful for the player to play as Abby. It would make some people happy with the end of the game because they'd want Abby to live. As it stands, the players want nothing more than to avenge Joel with Ellie because that's the only character who matters before Joel dies.    … Expand

    Before reviewing let me tell how much first tlou matter to me.
    You know when game is amazing if immediately after finishing it You feel empty, confused maybe in some way shocked but mostly curious about characters and it makes u rethink some of your life choices as a whole. You are becoming so obsessed with game that u start looking for more about characters and their background story.    Before reviewing let me tell how much first tlou matter to me.
    You know when game is amazing if immediately after finishing it You feel empty, confused maybe in some way shocked but mostly curious about characters and it makes u rethink some of your life choices as a whole. You are becoming so obsessed with game that u start looking for more about characters and their background story. It hapenned to me after beating first The Last of Us, i'v read countless books about post apocalyptic , traumatic events and how it affects human relations and how we can deal with it( e.g. I recommend reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy). World of tlou showed me many shades of black and how we can overcome them by looking for light and hope and that there is always something to live for . It inspirated me and surely many more people. It pointed me a reason to live and fight for people and things that are the most important to me. Elie's and Joel's relationship showed me that games are far more than just gameplay and story in gaming became something more for me.
    As you see Im looking at second part from sentimantal perspective and for this part I really wanted it to be at least as wise as first one. Sadly I was dissapointed, firstly dialogues often seemed to be pointless and meaningless. Also main plots from first game looks like they were abandoned. during the game we don't progress in story and there is many plot holes and the most important parts are rushed. After beating the game I was trying to explain some of the game choices to me. I thought- maybe this game is about forgiveness? Maybe I missed something? Story telling of this part remainds me of writer that is burned down and finish his main plots just in one sentence. Gameplay is on the highest level possible, music as it was in first part is stunning and breathtaking. But Naughty Dog failed in the most important thing which made The Last of Us so special to me and so many people- story telling.

    Overall In tlou 1 Elie's and Joel's fate became something more than I ever expected from video game and in 2nd part I hoped for developing main threads and I really counted that game will be able to give me a life lesson one more time. The only thing that remains for All of Us is that we can all lead our loved Ellie and Joel how we want in our dreams and imagination..    … Expand

    The film grain makes the whole game look like a PS3 game. Within the first 10 minutes Ellie calls someone a bigot twice. The animations are worse than the first entry. I dont even know what the hell I just experienced story wise besides extreme cringe.. I hope ghost of tsushima isn't this garbage.

    Absolutely terrible story and bland repetetive gameplay. I wouldn't recommend anyone who loved the first game to play this travesty. Killing off beloved characters to shock the audience is the laziest writing I've seen in a long while.

    Whole thing is so cringy and super clishe revenge story. last of us 1 storyline was unique u see the beauty and ugliness in this world and character's interaction and decisions all makes sense but here in last of us 2 nothing makes sense and storyline are full of Holes.

    It's very sad how the creators destroyed the game in the name of propagating ideas, beliefs. This game is a reversal of the climate of Part 1. History makes no sense. The post-apocalyptic world, humanity on the border is destroying, and the main character happily murders her prophetic sexual revival. The mechanics and graphics alone in this game are not enough - it's not car racing.
    Really sad.

The story which that should continue one of the most compelling stories in gaming that is the original last of us is completely butchered. Where to even start. The death of Joel. What a joke. One of the best protagonist of a game in the last decade and they killed him with a golf club in an ambush which he should, could and would have seen if it isn't for the **** writing from Neil Druckmann and his team. The ending. The **** ending. Why. Just why didnt ellie kill abby. Wtf. Not to mention the sideplots and the stupidity of them. I am glad the leaks turned out to be true, all youtube is filled with paid reviews that for some stupid reason it was censored and you weren't supposed to talk about the second half of the game, why bother to do a half ass review then? it doesn't make sense to me. Killing Joel was obvious so I am no hater of that, is just that the ending is filled with a quest for revenge that leads absolutely nowhere and makes you play as the "antagonist" so to say, to make you feel empathy towards her (even though most of the time you don't **** care about this character at all). Naughty dog stopped being a respectable company after this game, but there will be fanboys that are going to say otherwise.… Expand
