It's easier to blame the strawman of incels and gamergaters than to acknowledge that the game is extremely divisive. Same playbook as the new star wars trilogy and i am not here for it. Im an LGBTQIA+ woman, so no, this is not based on me being any of the buzzwords you want to throw out. A pretty game with a story that seems written for a creative writing class in middle school. Also the bad optics of releasing a game where you watch the man that you (Ellie) loved like a father get beat to death ON FATHERS DAY WEEKEND, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Im heartbroken for the characters, the people who spent years working on this, and all the fans who DIDNT see the spoilers, DIDNT read the users reviews, and BELIEVE all the outlets saying everyone who is rating this negatively hates LGBT or didnt play the game.… Expand

    From the beginning to the end this is a fantastic game. The story, the graphic fidelity, sound design, all top notch. Naughty dog has done it again and I cant wait to see where they take the series in the future. People say there is no perfect game. Now there is 11/10

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let´s be honest. The franchise is ruined. The last of us 1 was a great game and i had a really good time playing the ps4 remastered version. But, my god. The last of us 2 ruined it. The story is an epic fail. The graphics are good, the mechanichs are there. But, the story is just horrible. Season 8 of game of thrones is like the godfather compare to this. Joel dies in the first hour of the game (in a really patetic way) Abby, the real main protagonist of the game, killed him with a golf club. Joel, the guy who used to be like a terminator in the first part, goes to an obvious ambush and did nothing. Lame. That was just cheap. After that i really didnt want to play with Abby. Her face is strange also, something is wrong with her design ( she looks like a male bodybuilder) And, in the end, Elie forgives Abby ( after losing two fingers in a Quick time event fight!) I don´t have problems with gay, trans and lesbian comunnity. It has nothing to do with it. This game is just bad. Don`t buy it. Stick with the first part.… Expand

    Last of Us Part 2 is simply a masterpiece - this is undoubtedly Naughty Dog's magnum opus thus far. Dramatically improves on the original game's gameplay and tells and personal, heartfelt story. Contrary to bigoted claims of "SJW **** and "pandering", one of the relationships at the core of the game feels entirely natural and beautiful. Refreshingly willing to take risks, this game is phenomenal

Deserves 10 in many aspects, but for me in a game focused in narrative story the score is at least half of importance. For me who loved Part I and consider 1 of 3 games of my life.     While I like to watch and play trash sometimes, this is below anyone with half a brain cell. Bad doesn't justify what this game is. It's just appalling. They will say this got review bombed... But how does that even make sense when we all knew no matter how good or bad this game was, millions were going to be playing it and watching it. These scores are legit and do justice for an awful game.

Naughty dog has had an incredible track record, with amazing titles like the Uncharted series, Crash bandicoot, Jack and Daxter, and the first Last of Us, you'd expect The last of us part 2 to be their next biggest and greatest game. You'd EXPECT it to be. To be frank, the last of us part 2 is a failure on nearly every level. It turns Elie into an insufferable person who has little to no growth. The choices made are next to unbelievable and most of the time just downright stupid. Pointless plot points and a cast of characters that could be replaced with literally anybody else and nothing would be changed, which leads me into the spoilers.
    Let's first get the elephant out of the room first, Joel had no real reason to die. Its the most coincidental meeting in video game history, where Abby just so happens to run into the ONE person she's trying to kill. We're then met with a brutal cutscene where Joel gets shot in the leg, then tortured on screen. Her reasons being that her father was one of the doctors you killed from the last game when you go to the firefly hospital to save elie's life. No seriously thats their justification for abby being in this game. So after were forced to watch Joel get tortured to death and listen to elie scream and say she'll kill every one of them, they make us play as Abby. No im not joking. 10-12 hours of this game is us playing as the character we just watched murder with a golf club one of the main 2 characters of the last game. It gets better though, because at the end of the game, when elie, after killing hundreds of WLF soldiers, gets the chance to kill the one person responsible for joels death, and guess what happens. Elie. Let's. Abby. Go. After everything that she's gone through, all the killing, her killing multiple characters thst are close to elie, she lets her go. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I watched this play out. This game fails in every aspect except graphical fidelity and soundtrack, which both sound and look amazing. Everything else about this game is terrible. Mechanics that feel stuck in last gen and hardly feel like an improvement, a cast of characters you never end up caring about, ridiculous choices made by characters, and an abhorrent story. This game gets a 1 from me, which is only because it looks and sounds good, everything else is terrible. This is about as bad as Disney star wars, which i tend to treat the same way, forget its even there and have fun with the older stu    … Expand

    Let's be honest here, this is a game with an expensive studio behind it, meaning it has triple A graphics, even if it is nothing we haven't seen before, buts that's where it ends. The gameplay itself is nothing ground breaking and quite flat when considering where the original was at for it's time. This is fundamentally a single player story game, with a popular Last of Us 1 behind it. This is where the biggest failure of the game appears. The story stinks of Social Justice Warrior politically correct culture, even if you play trying not to think about it, the game will slap you with more, while simultaneously destroying everything that made the original story great. If you hope of continued story of Part 1, then you will be very disappointed. I understand the studio lead wanted a game of strong independent testosterone fueled lesbian women, but it seems that they were more concerned with ticking those boxes than actually making any characters the player can care about, relate to or even remotely like.

    I would be happy for this game to be destroyed after playing it, as I won't ever go back to it, I don't feel happy at spending my time playing it, I feel cheated by pre-ordering it and I certainly won't be going back to buy from a studio that spends the most part of a decade making something as pointless as it is political. It's a soulless attempt by creators who think they are pushing boundaries, but in reality need to wake up and smell what they are shovelling.    … Expand

I was so hyped for this game that you would literally have to humiliate and brutally murder one of the main characters from the previous game to get me to dislike it. Even then, I would probably be open to one of the characters dying, if the story was presented in a compelling way. Unfortunately this story is not. In fact, you are tasked with playing as your hero's murderer halfway into the game, and the writer (Neil Druckmann) wants ever so bad to make you feel sorry for this character. To feel compelled by her story and to sympathize with her torturing and clubbing Joel to death. Well, Neil, I do not. This story reeks of shock factor for the mere existence of it. It is so far up its own ass you wonder how Druckmann ever came out for air to put this thing into existence.


    I would never recommend this game, especially to fans of the original. This is offensively terrible story writing and it's a shame that the first games writer (Bruce Straley) wasn't here to reign it in.    … Expand

What was naughty dog expecting? How can you so brutally push a political agenda down people’s throat? Are you guys really dumb enough to expect TLOU fans to see the hero die in the beginning of the game and like it? TLOU was all about Joel and Ellie and the sequel was all about how Naughty Dog destroys that relationship and the game itself. It in fact was not even a sequel, it was a SJW’s murder of the first game. Extremely disappointed with not only Naughty Dog but also Playstation. I kept this machine for 8 years only for this game and this is what I get. I have now decided to sell it and switch to PC. Thank you for your piece of trash, this review is what you get for killing beautiful story oriented games and characters.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part 2 is a dumpster fire compared to it's predecessor.

    - Unceremoniously killed off Joel.

    - Dumping a truckload of backstory on Abby and forcing me to play as her doesn't make me feel sorry for her, or forgive her for what she did.

    - Ellie goes on a revenge mission, killing 100+ people on the way to get Abby. Then, out of nowhere, at the absolute last second, she decides, "Actually, killing is bad". And LETS HER GO. Seriously? That's what you came up with? Some pseudo philosophical message about how "Revenge is bad" Yet Abby can get hers and go on her merry way?

    - So much needless violence and edgyness, At times, it's like watching an 15 year old's murder fantasy. I get it, you want to be raw and emotional, but normal people don't act like this.

    On the side note, it's very suspecious how this game got 9/10s and 10/10s by big gaming reviewers, despite universal backlash the day of it's release. How did this garbage get 95 and a "Must Play" award from Metacritic?

    Save your money. Maybe replay the first game, since they actually knew what they were doing there.    … Expand

Its also very filled with characters you dont give a F about. First one had a great cast, this one, not at all.
    This is just a try-hard gritty story about revenge not being worth it, that beats you over the head with how bad revenge is.

    That it wasn't predictable is the only thing I can say for it. It really was a waste of money and time, not just for me as a consumer, but also for dev. But of course critics love it, because they jump at any opportunity to prove that games can be mature too. TLOU2 isn't mature though. It's a hamfisted copy of comic and movie tropes that tries way too hard to be relevant.

While there were a some good moments, the should have been named PLOT HOLES! the game feels like another developer made it but didn't!! The game play is the same after almost a decade, environment puzzles are basically gone. So remove story from the table and you are left with the shallow game play that will have you looking for some other game. and the story is horrible, who wants to really play a game where the hero is subjected to such treatment.… Expand

The characters in this game are mostly all used as plot devices, some others being completely useless and adding nothing at all. The graphics and lush environments are amazing. Gameplay is much smoother but is not that different from the first game. As for the plot/story...there were often times where things made no sense at all, actions were always questioned, and interest was lost in the story. Honestly, Naughty Dog missed the mark with this one for me. There were some lighthearted moments but other than that, I’m not sure if this game/franchise deserves a 3rd.… Expand

    Perfect graphics, I have never seen such a deep and long stryline. All aspects of the game is made with a exelent care and outstanding work of the programmers. Love that game. 100% recommended

    This game is an utter travesty. I couldn't finish it and returned it.

    There are some good parts but i failed to see the 'masterpiece' that many reviews stated. The reviews are WRONG. The story is NOT enthralling (but horrible). Characters don't make sense.

    Please please don't use your money on this game.

    No, this is not better than the first one, even if the game system is good (still feels crappy like RE6) the ducking story, and the characters, you would be better not paying for this, get a bag of Doritos, it will last longer and will be way better

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had such high hopes when they first announced this game. Having already played the first game, I was excited. Then I finally played it and it was a major disappointment to me. The one thing I must say I love about this game are the visuals, they are gorgeous, along with most of the sound design as well. The gameplay is still relatively the same, not merely as polished or improved as it should be. Most of the unique movement puzzles that were in the first game have been replaced by practically just the same exact thing. The AI is pretty bad to for the most part, half the time I could just walk right by the zombies of this games universe. Now the thing that made this game’s predecessor great was its story. That is completely absent from this game. This game takes a huge dump on all your old favorite characters, giving them stupid deaths, or just making them completely stupid and simply annoying. Most of the new characters as well, especially the golf girl, are bad as well. All though there were a few new characters that I enjoyed. The ending is one of the most unsatisfying things ever in a game in my opinion, the game repeatedly tries to teach you the cycle of violence and fails to do so in the most important part. I’m hugely disappointed and hate this game. I don’t recommend this game, unless you like Star Wars The Last Jedi, or Game Of Thrones Season 8.… Expand

    I'm not sure if people can't handle a beloved character dying or they never played the first DLC so are homophobically shocked for all the bad reviews flying around. I think this sequel is just as good as the first one, the motion capture acting is even better too. The couple of extra mechanics added are a nice touch without being too drastic of a change from the first.

    Very preachy and politically driven narrative. Secondly, there's some serious bait and switch tactics going on here. Also, what's with the clunky gameplay? Didn't they learn anything from RDR2's criticisms where gameplay took a back seat to animations? TLOU2 clearly has paid off review scores, and I even heard that they may start censoring user reviews. This is unacceptable.

    The majestic work in the graphics and the cinematographic is stunning don't get me wrong. The story is awfull, they don't respect our hours & hours playing TLU1 and the connection we have within and the feeling when you heard the sound of the platinum trophy after you went through the game all over and over. Is simply heartbreaking.

    La muerte de Joel me parece una falta de respeto y que el juego acabe para una tercera entrega si o si, me parece aún peor, esto no es una serie de televisión. El juego vale 70 euros y hay que esperar años cómo para que te hagan algo así, no es justo, merecería un cierre, un cierre de etapa en la vida de Joel y Ellie.

    ----Tengo que aplaudir, solamente, por el hecho de incluir al colectivo LGBT, un aplauso a ND, pero nada más.----

    Por lo demás pongo un 3, por la increíble falta de respeto de un producto engañoso, donde lo único que se hace es sacar el dinero de los fans, yo no puedo gastarme 70 euros y ver como el juego termina con Ellie herida o medio muerta sin saber nada más, y un Joel con una muerte malísima y sin respeto.

Completely randomly by some random passerby. No real mourning or buld up.     The story is ruined,they decided to kill Joel, a thing they should have never done and in what way... it's like these brain-farts never pplayed LoU. Hey there's this guy that doesnt trust anyone, lets just have him help a stranger and then tell everyone their names, where they live etc cause why, after a few years sure every survivor is a good fella now. This was utter **** They killed him a bad way to create a basic revenge plot... cheap.
    Also, full of SJW **** agendas. I pay to play not to take part in the real worlds problems for a moment. Black people and white people and many people will still be shot or discriminated for their sexuality or whatnot in real life even if you guys ruin a game.

I find it hard to believe that Naughty Dog's opinion of humanity is so poor that they would craft such an unbelievable series of events. Like Season 8 of Game of Thrones, they seem to believe that subverting expectations is somehow artistic, when the truth is meeting the expectations (in a sequel) of fans in a creative way is the more difficult task for the artist.

    Don't get me wrong. The game is a polished gem. If you loved the gameplay of the first, then you will find much to love here. Combat and exploration, the visuals, and the world itself are expertly rendered and beautiful, even while also terrible. That they put great effort into the game goes without saying and nobody should take that away from them. If you're a fan of the Last of Us due to the gameplay and combat, you are in for a real treat.

    If, however, you were fans because you loved Joel and Ellie, and because you wanted to see what Naughty Dog would do with their relationship--Joel having lied to her to her face, and Ellie suspicious and, thus, her love of Joel tainted by doubt--then you will be disappointed. Bitterly so. It seems like such an opportunity wasted. Surely they could have made the same diversity decisions that delight Twitter-activists while telling us a story that we actually wanted to know about. In hindsight, seeing Joel in that commercial on television seems a bit cruel and misleading.

    To summarize, this game continues the recent fad of subverting our expectations by failing to give fans those elements that made their art so attractive in the first place while wallowing in the negativity they see in the world, like a teenager who first encounters goth and thinks they've had an epiphany. As a technical work it is truly astounding and a game worthy of purchasing, if only to reward the actual artists and programmers who obviously poured their hearts out into this game, but if you were a fan of the original you probably won't enjoy it.

    Is art supposed to be enjoyable? Maybe not in every case. But if we're talking about a video game, then, yes, I think it is supposed to be enjoyable. Call me old fashioned that way. 4 out of 10 for story. 9 out of 10 for the gameplay itself.    … Expand

The storyline is garbage, it makes no sense and the ending is just baffling! I’m glad I didn’t buy this game (rented instead based on the leaks I was hoping we sent real).     After I saw the leaks and the released gameplay footage of the entire game of course it’s all just one big beautiful mess as expected. This is not the sequel we never needed. Then the final boss, I just stopped watching the video, no satisfying ending what so ever. I wish I could give the game a negative -10.0

    A Naughty Dog se superou de todas as formas nesse game. Ampliaram e aperfeiçoaram tudo que já existia no primeiro juntando isso há graficos e mecanicas tao boas quanto o antecessor e uma história que envolve momentos marcantes e de reflexão te colocando pra sentir tudo aquilo da forma mais real e brutal possível. Daria nota 20 se pudesse!!!
