    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphic wise, this game looks great compared to The Last of Us being that it was a PS3 port. Where this fails is the story. I have read people saying to give it a chance or play it through so finishing the game today I can say that the story was poorly executed. Killing Joel early on was one thing, the manner in which they did it was not thought out at all. His death comes about from him being naive now? By trusting a room full of strangers being severely outnumbered? Like seriously? He ran someone over for merely approaching a vehicle he was in due to his lack of trust in anyone outside of those he knows. The second half of the game is very boring and playing as Abby completely ruins the momentum of the story in a poor attempt for the audience to feel empathy for her. This is just a poorly written story and honestly people should avoid this game if you are a fan of the first Last of Us. To top it off the whole campaign of revenge leads to no revenge at all and Ellie just lets her go because that's what someone would do witnessing her father like figure being brutally tortured then killed right in front of you.The director Neil Drucann is openly taunting fans and completely being immature about this situation… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Good: the graphics are the most beautiful you will ever see, the gameplay mechanics are the same as the last game but a bit better, and some scenes are just amazing (for example the flashbacks).
    Sound, Ambient, Music is just top Perfect for The Last of Us.

    The (HORRIBLY) Bad: The story, and this is BAD, its a narrative game, the story is the most important thing.
    SPOILERS, Joel is killed by Abby, a new character, she is the daughter of one of the surgeons Joel killed in the first game, okay, she seeked revenge, but the writing of the story lets her do it so easy it's disrespectful to the character of Joel, he and his brother acted dumb before Joel's death, and Abby does it so early in the game, well thats the way the story starts, pretty **** but well, oh wait, the game forces you to play as her, and let her get everything she wants, oh she wants to beat Ellie and her girlfriend even though they are our favorite characters, and what's even worse, Ellie even when she nearly dies, killed all of Abby's friends and boyfriend, and encounters with a weaker Abby, she doesn't get her revenge, she doesn't kill Abby, Abby didn't even wanted to fight, and still got away, again Abby gets everything she wants despite us the player hating her for what she did to Joel, what an disappointing ending.

    What they did to Joel and Ellie is just disrespectful to the character, how they changed them to a completely new and horrible character that is Abby.

    It breaks my heart that I have to give this score to the sequel of one of my favorite games, If not my #1 favorite game.    … Expand

    Don’t listen to the hate! If you loved the characters and story from the first one you will love this one as well! And it throws you pretty swiftly into a room full of clickers so an “oh yeah I remember this” moment is imminent!

La jugabilidad es del 2013 y las mejoras añadidas al combate cuerpo a cuerpo no son lo suficiente como para sentirse como una renovación, obviamente es divertido (porque el primero lo era), pero se siente viejo a pesar de ser un juego nuevo.

    Pero lo peor de este juego es la historia y el desarrollo de personajes, para que se entienda mejor: estamos en un mundo post-apocaliptico, no hay comida, no hay agua y si no estas enfrentado a zombies, estás enfrentando contra personas que quieren tus suminstros, en este contexto Ellie desarrolla un instinto de supervivencia donde es capaz de matar a cualquiera que represente una mínima amenaza para ella o para la gente que quiere.
    Sabiendo lo anterior, una imbécil (Abby) que le importa más la venganza, mata brutalmente a las personas que amas, destruye la vida "tranquila" que tanto les había costado crear a todos, te arranca los dedos mientras te enfrentas a duelo a muerte justamente para vengar todo el daño que te hizo. ¿Qué haría Ellie en esa situación? la mataría, ¿qué hizo Ellie? pues... La deja ir.

    Eso no tiene sentido, ya que nunca se desarrolló a Ellie para que entendiera que la venganza no traería ninguna satisfacción, no se desarrolló para que entendiera que la brutalidad que ella y Joel llevaron a cabo en el primer juego traería consigo resentimiento, dolor y por ende, venganza y que era algo que tenían que esperar, no se desarrolló para que dejara de lado ese instinto de supervivencia.

    A mi no me molesta que Joel haya muerto, al final el contexto del mundo sustenta la crueldad y frialdad, y tu jugablemente lo estas justificando, matas a todo lo que sea enemigo. Lo que me molesta es que a último minuto y sin justificación cambien la personalidad de un personaje.    … Expand

I just could not get involved in the game. And there is no way Joel would make a mistake like that. That was not his character.     Perfect masterpiece IMO. I've actually played and completed the game. Currently 7% of players (the trophy you get for completing the game) have actually completed it... So how people think they have the right to review the game without playing it I'll never know. I loved this game entirely. Didn't look at leaks and didn't bother hearing other people's opinions. The game itself is perfect gameplay wise and graphics but It's clear it's the story that's on everyone's mind. *SPOILERS AHEAD* - I loved the story. Again 10/10 personally. I'm glad ND didn't give away the plot point at the beginning at it made me feel something. Anger. I wanted vengeance. Only to get through the game and for ND to masterfully display that other characters in the game had real and truly captivating and justifiable motives. Vengeance goes around back and forth between these two groups. By the end, I wanted Ellie to let it go as only someone (maybe Lev) would come back for more vengeance... Right when Ellie finally has that upper hand and Abby's life in her hands... She lets go. Perfect. That's story done right. Just because people hate the painful world TLoU2 creates, just even more emphasises how good this game world was created. People confuse the two with the game itself. Which is the biggest snowflake, pathetic adherence to other people's make believe opinions from agenda, I HAVE EVER HEARD OF IN A VIDEO GAME.… Expand

    The gameplay is just as good as the first game. While it isn't anything special it gets the job done. Animations are incredibly fluid. Once you get the hang of it you can easily pull off something that looks like a scripted choreographed fight straight out of the cut scene. Graphics are the best that the PS4 will ever see, and if this game makes it to PS5 it'll still be one of the bestThe gameplay is just as good as the first game. While it isn't anything special it gets the job done. Animations are incredibly fluid. Once you get the hang of it you can easily pull off something that looks like a scripted choreographed fight straight out of the cut scene. Graphics are the best that the PS4 will ever see, and if this game makes it to PS5 it'll still be one of the best looking games. "Levels" are incredibly detailed. The lack of multiplayer currently sucks.

    I won't go too into detail about that story. All I'll say is it wasn't for me. I see what they were going for but it was executed poorly. Every point I could make has already been made by multiple content creators and independent critics. While there are a minority of people hating on the game just to hate and because of it's inclusion, every negative review shouldn't be written off like they are. The ending made me feel like everything I did was pointless. There are legitimate reasons to dislike this game. There are plenty of reasons to like it.

    The game is also structured poorly. Right when things are starting to happen when you've got past the rising action and you're about to get to the climax, you're sent right back to the beginning and get another 10-15 hours of exposition and rising action again that ultimately leads back to the climax you were about to see 15 hours ago. I feel like if this game was reordered to be more chronological, it would have been much more well-received.

    Without getting into spoilers, Naughty Dogs' blatant false advertising of what this game would be cannot be excused. They could have handled the situation better, and more clearly represented what the game would be without spoiling it.

    I didn't hate the game. I also didn't love it. Some of the outrage is ridiculous. The game isn't a 0/10, it's no 10/10 either. It's a brave sequel. Just not what most people would consider a "successful" one. Things that made the first game so great to a lot of people, like Joel and Ellie's relationship is put on the back burner in favor of a subpar revenge/forgiveness plot. There are obvious plot holes that shouldn't be overlooked or excused.    … Expand

    Solo puedo decir que duele que hallan matado al héroe de la película, tiene demasiadas confusiones (al menos para mi), la compañía de Naughty Dog se la jugo demasiado con agregar Flashback durante casi toda la historia, tanto al principio como al final (solo el ultimo Flashback fue mi favorito :( ).
    Hay varias muertes por ambos bandos muchos de ellos fueron amigos cercanos de nuestras protagonistas, que cada vez te daba una rabia en encontrar al culpable. Pero bue ya sabemos el final...
    Lo único que queda decir es que no me duele... me quema, me lastima que hallan matado a mi héroe. Esperemos que la siguiente entrega o DLC que vallan a sacar sea algo mucho mas que solo la venganza, y tenga una buena historia como la anterior porque si o si habrá otra parte.

    This game is everything that it says it is. Best gameplay, mechanics, story telling, shock value and I'm not even done it yet. Naughty Dog has once again out done themselves with another blockbuster. Everyone who gives this game a poor rating needs to stop expecting the expected from the first one. It was made 7 years ago and it was great for the time but it's now and WOW what a game.This game is everything that it says it is. Best gameplay, mechanics, story telling, shock value and I'm not even done it yet. Naughty Dog has once again out done themselves with another blockbuster.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The reason that I'm doing that review is because I'm deeply distressed and sad with this game. A great part of the players are talking bad about it because the politics and representativeness, but that things is not bad, we are all equal you know. Marvel and Dc make great movies with that theme. But this game is a continuation of a adventure game, and that's what we expected for 7 long years. Joel is one of my favorite characters in the game, and I've felt nothing with his death, because the trailers made the players believe that he was going to be present in a great part of the game, but they change skins, make trailers be a story and the real game be another. And all that violence, makes me wonder why I was playing this. Another great problem was making us play with Abby; Joel has he defects, but we liked him just for that, be a complex man that did horrible things to survive, but learn to be a human being again, being a father again after know a girl, an impulsive, charismatic and great girl. So for what in the hell we possible want to play with the woman that kills this guy? And what they did with Ellie, man, where's that girl we met before? Joel died with the impression that he and Ellie was not good with each other, and Ellie ends the road completely lost and having nothing and nobody to turn back, even her hobby she cant do anymore.In the end I thought she was going to commit a suicide with all the desgusting things that happened. Thanks to god that a friend lent me and I didn't have to pay for this game. We are in a problematic time in real life, you don't need to worsen your mental health, specially if you played the first game.… Expand

When I got this game was prepared for just about anything but I wasn’t prepared how emotional I’ll get in the last 2 hrs you get to witness a characters death so horrendous it was so mind blowing. It reminded me of a scene of The Walking Dead when Negan used his baseball bat to Glen that’s what exactly happened to Joel I was utterly heartbroken to see this amazing character get killed off so quickly that your head would spin. Through out my play through I was so angry with Abby all I wanted was to kill her like Ellie no matter what the cost was once you get to mid part of the game you play as Abby which took place right after of her killing Joel it was the weirdest feeling in the world to play as a character that just brutalized someone that you deeply cared for and not only that took care of Ellie. So, you begin to play and start seeing why Abby was looking for Joel and exactly why she killed him. Well, from the first Last Of Us when Joel went on his murderous rampage to save Ellie However one the surgeons he kills was Abby’s father which was super interesting and I hate to say this I was beginning to like Abby in a strange way. this game was so powerful and made me cried to many times I’ve lost count cause I think what hit the hardest is that both characters lost something so dear to them that they would do anything in their power to avenge their fathers death but at the ending the two broke that cycle of violence then moved on if Naughty Dog gave you the choice of killing or forgiving that would be super interesting to see what people did and see the outcome being both cannon of course but all in all. I loved this game plan on playing it again very soon cause The Last Of Us Part 2 was phenomenal and would be really curious about a third one will ever happen or give us a spin off series as to where you play as tommy that would great.… Expand

Im not sure I've been this disappointed at a long time series sequel since Mass Effect Andromeda. The story is terrible, the path it puts you on makes no sense, the big OMG moment feels completely un earned, and the ending is nonsensical. I am truly disappointed in Naughty Dog.… Expand

I want to get this out upfront: my major problem with the game is that I was forced to play half of it as a character I didn’t care about at all and that I felt nothing for. The entire time I was just hoping I could go back to playing as Ellie. And you do come back to her—after 10 plus hours as Abby. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against new characters but I don’t think we needed a new playable one. In fact, I love Jesse, Dina, Yarra, and Lev. They all felt much easier to connect to than Abby, who feels like a weird attempt at an “Ellie 2.0,” just more physically imposing and less emotionally impactful. I’ve heard a few people say they loved Abby but that’s a sentiment that I personally can’t share. Similarly, I didn’t much care about Abby’s group of WLF friends; Owen felt one dimensional and he and Abby’s relationship didn’t resonate for me, likely due to a lack of chemistry between the actors. I never really connected to Mel or Manny either. Manny felt like the most charismatic but seeing him spit on Joel’s dead body kind of ruined any chance he had of winning me over. Let me also say this: I don’t mind that Joel died. I would, however, have liked to have seen it executed better for a more meaningful impact. A lot of the death in this game happens really quickly and then is kind of brushed over; I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to connect to Jesse only to have him shot in the face in a split second after walking through a door. I understand that this is supposed to convey a sense of reality; you don’t always see death coming and it can happen in an instant, no matter the context. But this is fiction and these are potentially great characters thrown away too soon for what feels like shock value. If we weren’t supposed to suspend our disbelief when it comes to death in video games then Joel falling on a rebar and living wouldn’t have worked in the first Last of Us. So why are fantastic characters dropping like flies only to let this bland one walk away at the end? To be fair, this game had some great moments, most of them in the first half. Ellie and Dina’s relationship has been my favorite in games, and media in general, in a long time. The natural chemistry they have and the incredible voice acting by Ashley Johnson and Shannon Woodward makes you feel for these characters the way we felt for Joel and Ellie in the first game. Troy Baker also does a phenomenal job, especially in the final flashback scene of the game where Joel is breaking down but fighting to hold himself together. You could feel the nuance in every voice crack, sigh, and sniffle. The thematic song thread Joel introduces at the beginning tugged at my heartstrings and every time it came back up throughout the story I could honestly feel a small bit of the first game’s spirit creeping into this sequel. The same can be said for the incredible Ellie and Joel flashback moments, each one giving us a glimpse at what we missed in the five year time jump between Part 1 and now. The game is undeniably visually stunning; the art direction is fantastic and every environment is unique and fascinating, down to the lighting. The gameplay is revamped and slightly expanded, allowing the player new methods of movement like a prone option for stealth and crevices to squeeze through to escape infected or get the drop on an enemy. The combat feels good and the impact is definitely felt with every punch you take and each one you deal. Shooting is more or less the same as the first game with bullet drop (and arrow drop). The upgrade paths are great but with the story split between two characters it’s seemingly impossible to upgrade everything in one go unless you have your resources setting set to “very light” so the game basically gives you loot everywhere you go. There is a new game plus option to keep all your upgrades while you play through again but I honestly don’t see myself playing more than once. I’m just not interested in sitting through Abby’s story a second time, not to mention the contrived plot points that exist solely to move the story in this specific direction. I personally don’t understand why this game is getting 10/10 scores or being touted as a “masterpiece.” Half of it was great—the other half felt like one of those movies that has you checking your watch every couple minutes. As this is a story-driven game, I have to dock a couple points at least for a poorly executed story with really good highlights. The gameplay is by far the best part but the fun of it is hindered when you don’t feel invested while playing as someone other than Ellie. Which, again, is half the time. I hope they end the franchise here because I just can’t see it regaining that spark that made it so special to begin with. Or next time just let me play as Ellie, please, for God’s sake.… Expand

    Absolutely master class of story telling. Repeatedly punches you in the gut with powerful emotional moments. The first game was my favorite game of all time. This blew it out of the water completely. This is my favorite piece of media I have ever experienced. Gameplay is a refined version of the origina I cannot possibly recommend this enough.

    If all this game can do is say "Look how woke we are" then it isn't much of a game. You might as well go back and play the first one over since they didn't change anything else. Maybe Naughty Dog should go sit down and talk to Square Enix for lessons on how to innovate with one of your most successful and beloved franchises. If you have any love for the characters in the first game...which is what made that game so good...you will absolutely loathe the second one. Abby is a total joke of a lead character. Who cares about Abby?? No one... even though naughty dog tries to force her down your throat. Completely unnessary, disgusting sex scene. Wtf?? It has absolutely no relevance on the story. Why put it in there? I can only assume it gave the designers a hard on (I think I just vomited). Then spitting on Joel you have to be freaking kidding me. Never in my life had I ever wanted to unexperience a game. I cant unsee what was in that game and I really want to.     It just makes me sick how they all of a sudden wrote the beloved characters from the first game in such a way that they try and make you hate them and they're forcing you to think they're villians. There are so many plot holes too like Joel and Tommy telling random people where they live and what their names are despite the first game being all about not trusting anyone.

    ALL (apart from the graphics).
    The story is horrible and forced to be as gloomy as possible (and cringe), the characters are flat and stupid (seriously, Abby, kill or capture ellie? Why did you keep her alive? For yet another "revenge" cliché? And why didn't ellie kill Abby? WHY!?!?), Joel is killed like a dog and in a fairly ... stupid way (Abby: "What's your name, the guy who saved me from certain death?" Joel: "Joel" Abby: -shots him without asking for more, he could easily be another Joel, and given the reaction he should have recognized him at first glance and not just before the "golf game" but ok-) and the rest of the plot is a batman's joke: it's very dark but makes you laugh.
    The gameplay is stale, almost superimposable on the first (apart from dodging) and is extremely linear, worse than a tunnel.
    Various cards are played to make you feel guilty (like killing a dog or a pregnant woman ... this 3 times, and one of them has twins ... triple killing I suppose) or more likely, to hide the AI of enemies that at normal levels is set to "decerebrate" or other **** like "stealth" (it seems that the enemies are nearsighted and deaf, without glasses and earphones). At least the game tries to be more "innovative" with a trans and lesbians ... but they did it so badly that it is almost offensive to real trans and lesbians. Not because they are Trans or lesbians, but as silly as those characters are and "THAT SEX SCENE IS OK BUT NO 2D **** but I also said it before that they don't have a brain, I'm repeating myself , but soon I conclude, don't worry.
    If it hadn't been The last of us 2 (or rather, The last game from us 2) I wouldn't have given it 0, at most 4, but since one of the worst games of 2020 is the sequel to one of the best games ever and that for which I waited 7 years, it deserves the grave and oblivion.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played the game on hard difficulty and this is what I thought. I am going to formulate this review with the good, the bad, and ugly and try to reveal all my true thought about the game.

    The Good
    - I liked Jesse and Manny as characters. They were both so kind and caring towards their friends and so wholesome I really thought I could relate to them. I was so sad watching both of them die because they were great comedic relief and supporting Characters.
    - The gameplay and the visuals are top notch. It is so satisfying to kill people and look at this world that if there was no story I would easily play this game 30 times over
    - I really enjoyed playing as Ellie more to Abby because I liked her more as a character and I enjoyed not being the strongest character physically but definitely emotionally. Also I loved how she used a switchblade it made everything more brutal and satisfying
    - The exploration in this game is good I am glad they opened the world a little more than the first one because I will admit the first game felt very linear for long times.
    - New puzzles were a nice touch as every fight with Ellie felt like a puzzle because you just were not that strong. Unlike Abby were you literally could just sadistically kill everyone with your fists.
    - The Flashbacks are amazing for both characters. Especially with Joel, because it gives us a more in depth look at his character during the past four years
    - The parallel between Owen and Abby, and Dina and Ellie is a nice touch. As Dina and Owen both try their hardest to help them forget about vengeance and just move on but neither one of them succeed.

    The Bad
    - Playing as Abby is very hard after you watch her brutally kill Joel our hero from the first game. She is also boring at times because she seems to show almost no emotion to anybody except for Lev and Yara, but even then it's hard to tell because she does not show it on her face. She only shows through her actions and that is almost always killing someone even her one people. I got very bored of it by Seattle Day 2, the only redeeming quality was the combat as it is fun at times. Also that hospital scene versus the giant monster is amazing and so freaking cool.
    - Mel is a very boring and flat character in my opinion. The only reason i care about her is because she is killed by Ellie and she is pregnant. It is very hard to watch and it really makes Ellie think "what if that was Dina." But besides that Mel is nothing really except just stupid for getting herself involved in this mess. She should have stayed home and just had the baby in my opinion.

    The Ugly
    - Joel's Death is hard to watch and it happens way to early in the game in my opinion. However, I get why they did it in the way they did. Watching it happen really wants to makes you want to just destroy Abby and make sure she dies the most brutal death possible. But sadly this revenge story is ruined by the fact that i have to play 10 hours as Abby and try to sympathize with her as a character.
    -The ending. Oh where do I start with this because there is not even an ending in my opinion. What I loved about the first game is that it had a great ending and a sequel was not even necessary to make that story make sense. But after this I am leaving with more questions than answers and I wish that the game had cut the Abby play through except for the flashbacks and really try to flesh out a satisfying ending. Let me be clear after that had happened I did not want either character to die. Mainly because they just both need to move on and let it go to have closure. If one of them had died there would heave never have been closure and the other would still be struggling. I think it could have been done better though.
    - Where the hell is Dina!! At the end of the game Ellie goes back to the farm only to find everyone gone and no Dina. I just personally do not like this part of the ending as I do not see Dina giving up on her that quick after this story

    Final Verdict
    The Last of Us part 2 is one hell of a game. It is definitely very unique, brutal, emotional, and above all dark. It is very hard to finish and play for a multitude of reasons. All in all I will give it a 7 because I enjoyed playing it and characters like Jesse and Manny made me smile many times throughout my playthrough. But the story was average and disappointing. Druckmann is an insane and very ambitious writer. I understand why he wrote the game this way but I do not agree with it. However, I still respect him as a writer and i truly believe he is still one of the best entertainment writers on the planet. The Last of us is an 11/10 in my opinion this game falls short as a sequel but I cannot say I did not enjoy playing. I just wish some parts were different and were not as long as they were. In the end, the last of us part 2 is a very controversial game to say the least and I will never forget playing it.    … Expand

    I would like to as the devs, how the hell Joel and ellie got so distant, I mean in the first game they had such a good chemistry, in the couple scenes we get to see them interact is like they strangers it's cringy as hell to see Joel interact with the girl he saved and considered a daughter. It's just stupid tbh..... Killing Joel right off the bat, are u serious?? The iconic character from first game... Are you serious?! Why so early??!! Why not more back story before it?!! People would probably wouldn't be so shocked..... But at this rate am done playing the game.... I played only thru the chick killing Joel and am done.. Idc about the rest, Joel was my fav and hhe ded.. This game is stupid, and from spoilers I read, ellie doesn't get revenge and we are forced to play as Abby, Joel's killer... **** outta here. If the spoilers are correct, this game make no sense.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
