But the lack of sense in the story in the second part and how stupid and meaningless was treated Joel part in the game(trailers mislead not only me and I call it cheating)shocked me and I just completely lost interest in playing.. The game forces me to play a character that I don't care at all about and later in the game I hate playing it. The ending is a masterpiece in sh.. writing and has no sense whats so ever .Its 8 season of Game of Thrones again but in the game industry. Neil Druckman should NEVER EVER again be a part of any AAA game-period. He destroys one of the best game and story ever created in gaming and for that I hate him from my guts.… Expand

    Just finished the game. And I **** loved every minute of it. Well, not every minute ( game tends to drag on for a bit). This game is such a massive shift from the first one, story wise. The storytelling, imo, is amazing. It is literally the first time any entertainment media has left me feeling so uncomfortable, conflicted and so emotionally exhausted. The gameplay is an organic evolution of the first one, adding little bits of refinement here and there. I like how they added a little bit of exploration and multiple routes to tackle an encounter. Graphically, it is one of the best looking games of this generation on any platform. Voice acting, as expected, is top notch stuff from the greatest actors in this industry. Gustavo Santaolalla yet again delivers with another masterpiece of a poignant yet beautiful score. My only gripe with the game is that it didn't give enough time to develop side characters. Overall, although poles apart from the first game thematically, The Last of Us Part 2 stands shoulder to shoulder with its predecessor as a landmark in cinematic storytelling in videogames.     Before playing:
    My favorite genre is post-apocalyptic. I loved the first game and have played it several times, so of course I was super excited about the sequel.
    I was one of those people who didn't want ANY kind of spoilers before playing the game. I didn't look at gameplay footage since the announcement trailer last year, I didn't look at the controversies of the leaks. Nothing, nada. I wanted a clean slate going into this game with an open mind. And I'm really happy I did that because now that I've played it I've ventured online to see what other people think and boy do people have different opinions!

    After Playing:
    I think they made some bold moves with the story. Killing off the main character from the first game is a very bold move and I get why people get upset, I was upset, its a very devastating moment. In my opinion it doesn't make the game bad, it sets the tone for the game "Ellie wants to find Abby and get revenge". And I could easily get behind it, I could feel how much I wanted to revenge Joel and kill Abby and her group members. I had true hatred towards her, in the same way you have towards certain characters in TV series or other games. So when the game changed the perspective and it came down to playing as Abby I could hear my inner voice going "I don't want to play as the villain! I want to kill her! Let me kill her!" Again I get why some people would dislike this move, I disliked it to begin with, but again I don't think it makes the game bad. You get to see things from her perspective, how she hates Joel and wants to kill him to avenge her father, so much so that she probably "roided up" and got some huge forearms. Now I get that some people don't like when women look like this, but think of it from her perspective, she wanted to be strong and I mean really f*cking strong, the dedication is unreal. You hear her discuss life choices and regrets with one of the later characters Lev. I think parts of her regretted losing her innocence in the process of becoming a post-apocalyptic killing machine You see her change her view of right and wrong and save Lev and Yara and she even says "I did it for me".

    I think Naughty Dog was trying to show a very "simple" point that is, people aren't simple, there are no good guys or bad guys, or good sides or bad sides. People and causes are a mix of good things and bad things it depends on the perspective. An example is the W.L.F, when you see them from Abby's perspective you first see them as this community where people are getting along with kindergardens and so on, but later when you get to the FOB you see how they are torturing people for information, the good AND the bad. You also hear Owen giving an example about the Fireflies "people thought we were terrorist, and maybe we were, we blew up soldiers and civilians". It is a very bold move, most likely a hit or a miss for most people, but for me it set my thought process in motion; "Am I really sure Abby still deserves to die? I mean Joel did kill her father. But she tortured him, she has to die! But she saved those kids, maybe she is reformed?" and so on and so on.

    I know someone will say parts of the story is SJW forced and leftist propaganda with all the lesbians and transgender characters, but I honestly don't think its that bad. You have the main character Ellie, which happens to be lesbian, so what?... You have the main villain Abby, who happens to be flat-chested and have bigger arms than most guys, so what?... You have Lev, which was a 13 year old girl named Lilly but would rather be a boy, so he shaved his head, so what?... It's not like that's all they yap about. When Abby finds out Lev was actually a girl named Lilly she asks "do you want to talk about it" and Lev goes "No".

    I guess I wasn't as shocked when they killed Joel because I remember telling my friend when one of the first trailers came out: "It's probably going to be about the fireflies killing Joel and she wants to get revenge" and my friend went "There is no way they would dare try that, noway" :)

    All in all I really really liked the game, so I have given it a 9/10.    … Expand

Naughty Dog has done a remarkable job with the amount of attention to detail to its world and characters. The Last of Us Part II's Story is the hardest part for me personally to review. The things that had happened in the story where essential to the development of the game and to its characters. Joel was my favourite character in The Last of Us and honestly even though he had died I felt like this was a good fresh concept and that his death was essential. Naughty dog loves to show of the reality and beauty of our world but also be realistic with the situations that ellie and abby are thrown into. The major thing that I had dislkied about this game was when Naughty dog forces you to play as Abby for basically an entire half of the game. The first half of the game i genuinely enjoyed and playing as Ellie was a fun time. However the second half of the game, you are forced to play as Abby for around 10 hours just to see how some events unfold. This honestly infuriated me because I was never thinking about Abby's character, all I cared about was Ellie and Joels story being told. I understand that Naughty Dog thpught that this was necessary but honestly I wouldve been ok with a 5 minute flashback about this girls backtory or even make it 10 minutes. Naughty dog tries to make the player be sympathetic towards Abby but I probably did not have any sympathy until she finds her friends all dead, the confrontation mission and the last fight against Abby and Eliie in Santa Barbara. Abby honesty was a terrible character to play as and it just felt like Naughty Dog was just trying to make you feel something for her over a 10 hour period. There was one question that I was constantly asking myself while I was playing as Abby "Why am I playing as her when I am supposed to kill her and hate her, isnt she the main villain?"Like I dont want to play as the character that killed my favourite character. There honestly was some terrible decisions in the game dont get me wrong. But overall you cannot deny the endless hard work that the Naughty Dog team had done with this game. To give Naughty Dog credit they tried something new that they thought would actually be realistic. For a survial zombie game I thought that it was such a fun game and the gameplay was well thought out. The mechanics were great and I was super stressed out because I was playing on Survivor. I was constantly on the run and it felt like I couldnt breathe because of the intensity. The situations that Ellie is thrown into are super intense but that is what makes The Last of Us special. Overall The Last of Us Part II has many great qualities and many negatives. I would give the Gameplay of the last of us Part II a 8 and the story a 5. All of the Joel and ellie parts of the story were well done but as you played as Abby you dont really sympathize and care about her at all. The Gameplay was amazing and nice and smooth.     Let's start with good things about this game. Fantastic graphic, physics, effects. So, everything is good except plot. And it's bad not because of SJW. Actually i don't give a **** for this part of story. But story is a really bad... No it's not bad, it's ****ing awful

    In my opinion it was a great game, it has excellent gameplay much better compared to the first game, excellent graphics and good story although some details that unbalance the story but everything is perfect

    The Cutscenes and Voiceacting are Amazing. The Story is predictable and falls flat at the midpoint of the game. The Gameplay although refined and better than in the first game overstays it's welcome and grows repetitive.
    The Flashbacks take you out of the narrative flow and just serve to give the player agency in hunting the main antagonist. It might have made more sense to keep the story    The Cutscenes and Voiceacting are Amazing. The Story is predictable and falls flat at the midpoint of the game. This would all have lead to a better bond to both while giving us more time with Joel, Tommy, and other supporting Characters.

    All in All most fans can relate that this is not the sequel we wanted or even needed.
    @NaughtyDog you really need to think about it if all the crunch and overtime are worth it if by the end even people who get paid to play videogames for a living struggle to find the drive to finish the game and even go so far as to never finish it.    … Expand

    My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. I waited 5 years to play this And they gave me a horrible intro and **** ending, The story is garbage. It’s a look inside the deeply disturbed mind of people like neil druckmann. I just want to forget about this game.

    The story is just not that great. And when I had to play with Abby for the second half of the hame I just quit the game and sold it. Graphics are great. Gameplay is also nice. But there is no real depth to the story. They ruined the franchise for me...    … Expand

Some point to a main character dieing early on and then comparing the game to the last season of Game Of Thrones. Well okay I'll compare it to the first several season of GOT where I never knew who would die which kept me on the edge of my seat and engaged in the story. When one main character or many would die it sucked but also that's what made it great, Same as this game. I played The last of us twice through, watched two or three people play through it, watch many reactions videos of the first one. I love Joel he what's a badass and it makes sense that he would die while saving someone. Anyway everybody's entitled to their opinion I just don't think some had an open mind before even playing the game all the way through.… Expand

    El juego es bastante bueno pero la historia es mala con varios errores tambien es bastante molesto el incluir la homosexualidad solo porque a alguien se le ocurrio ser "politicamente correcto" en fin Cosas a destacar el combate cuerpo a cuerpo y alguna que otra mecanica nueva y "algo" de exploracion

The writers wanted to repeat some of the bitterness generated by the previous game and in the search for that slogan ended up making a plot that clones the previous game and with elements idpol (quite current), and another ending that leaves a taste similar to the first, one as a consumer expects companies to cling to achievements and get over it but here they gave us a product although worthy of Naughty Dog it is 2 or 3 points to get to 10 The story is fine however to produce better the immersion Abby should be the first playable character and then Ellie, the characters lost all humanity they had in the first game their decisions are obtuse never consider what happens in the shoes of the other Ellie is a good example that mature is something that happens to her in the first game. The music is impeccable, the gameplay is perfect, if someone likes survival and stealth adventure action games this game performs very well outstandingly.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay, so if triggered gamers can give 0s with the excuse of "voicing their dissent the best way they can," then i can give a 10 with a similar excuse.

    My real number for it is a 9, so not that far off anyway. This game gave me 23 hours of detailed and consistent storytelling, and a total of about 2 hours of backtracking for supplies.
    Delivery-wise, the movement animations are stellar, minus some goofy jogging at weird times. The facial animations are stellar, and so is the voice cast, minus some extras in the background (FOB specifically).
    Fighting felt great. On "hard" difficulty, i felt just strained and stressed enough trying to manage ammo and supplies without having to resort to cheese in any parts. Some clicker areas got repetitive and there were a few too many repeated clicker models, but there were enough tense encounters with other infected to keep it fresh and tense.

    As for story beats, well...dude, nothing happened that felt out of place for the story and universe established in the first game. If you're really that desperate just to play as Joel again, play the first game.

    I'll just leave it there. 90% of the voiced distaste for this game is a joke. DON'T GET ME WRONG, just like the first game, I can absolutely understand how someone can play this game and genuinely not enjoy it. Not even referring to how "dark and gritty" it is, just gameplay wise, this isn't for everyone. But no game is. If you liked the gameplay in the first one, I'll wager you'll enjoy the gameplay in this one more.

    About the Gameplay

    its pretty much like in the First one in my Opinion for me i really hate the Shooting in the Game cause it is made really realistic i guess. And its Kinda hard even on Very Easy. But this isnt a Bad Thing if something is made Realistic. So u need to play more sneaky. But it also good made with the new Mechanics like Laying and going through Small things.

    About the Level Design

    Of the Citys like Seattle, i need to say its really Amazing how good this is looking and how Naughty Dog made it. Im in Love with the Citys and the Buildings. the Mission design is also really Great.

    About the Characters

    The Ellie Character is Very Very good Designed how she Reacts in her Language Sad/Happy/Angry its pretty Impressiv how they did this.

    The Dina Character im already in Love with expect when u see The Farm Chapter and her Reaction and how she Cares about Ellie.

    The Jesse Character is also good Designed but he had to less Screentime in my Opinion to make a Judgement but overall he had some funny Jokes and was overall a nice Partner to Travel with.

    In my Opinion the Death of Joel needed to be Brutal like this cause, u cant give the Player a REAL reveng feeling and Ellie aswell if u let some Character Die which the Player only see for a few Hours.     The gameplay and the overall mechanics are spectacular. I like that for the most part you can choose your path to finishing a level. Guns blazing, silent and stealthy or maybe a mix of both. However, there are a few parts I felt were meant to be no win scenarios where you have to bail out to the nearest exit... Or maybe I just really suck.
    I felt excited to see the game through and finish it which quite honestly doesn't happen a whole lot. I own more games than I'd like to admit and I think I can count on both hands how many I really enjoyed and couldn't wait to finish and when I did I hated that it was over. This game was one of them and I will definitely be playing through it a few more times mainly to bask in it more and play around with the mechanics a bit differently.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ll start off by saying this game would be so much better if it was its own new, original game rather than a sequel to TLOU. TLOU sets high bars with beautiful storytelling that can be replayed over and over again and never get old, however TLOU2’s story was personally like torture. Certain parts were dragged out for no reason, certain scenes were added for seemingly no real purpose (like the sex scene, which it brief and is only spoken about once more after and then holds no real consequence) and it got hard to keep track of who was were, who was still alive, what time each event took place in, etc.

    I loved TLOU because of Ellie and Joel. Their story was beautiful and heartbreaking and full of pain and danger as they survived in their living nightmare of a city. Their relationship was incredible to watch grow from to strangers trying to finish their job and get away from each other ASAP to a father/daughter love that we, the player, felt a part of. So when I heard of the sequel I knew Joel was likely going to die, but what I wasn’t expecting was how he died.

    I think killing Joel off was a poor choice, at least this way. When I saw the teaser trailer showing Ellie playing the guitar and Joel coming in, I was under the impression she was out for vengeance, possibly over the murder of a dead lover and so she ran off to find her lover’s killer, to which Joel shows up partway through the game to help her despite his old age. I was expecting Joel to die towards the end (possibly by bite, making it even harder for Ellie since she’s immune), able to say his goodbyes to Ellie, with her obviously upset but thankful of the time they had together and they get a sweet farewell, similar to Telltale’s The Walking Dead season 1 finale, with the post credits showing that Ellie learned how to love again and started a family of her own. What we got was far from it. A few hours into the game Joel is murdered by bludgeoning by new characters. After seeing the teaser trailer I thought he’d survive, all I could think was “the trailer shows he’s alive, he has to live” as his kneecap is shot. I felt little emotion other than confusion as I watched him get beaten and eventually murdered. I honestly felt numb, and lied to. I felt the trailers tricked me, and from that point on it left a sour taste in my mouth for the rest of the game.

    I didnt care at all for Abby. I did not care much for her reasoning, let alone to play through literal hours of her story that I hated. Naughty Dog tried to make me sympathise with her, to make her a hero, and I could care less for it. What makes it worse is that we get those hours of flashbacks within flashbacks right as Ellie and Abby meet again, with Jesse shot and Tommy at gunpoint. The only part I enjoyed about her story was Manny. I feel her reason for killing Joel would’ve been so much more powerful without the flashback and instead we get to see her and Ellie fight, with her declaring her reason for killing Joel was because he killed her dad. It could’ve been so tense and fit much better instead of the needlessly long flashbacks that made me lose all care for whatever happened next in the story.

    Finally the ending. It’s revealed that Ellie and Dina have a son they’re raising and Tommy arrived with a lead of Abby, which the girls refuse to follow until Ellie decides to follow it, to which Dina for some reason says “I can’t do this again”. Throughout the game Ellie has killed so many people to get to Abby, she was worked her ass off to avenge Joel and finally has a chance to kill Abby and she doesn’t. She lets her live, and we are forced to watch as Abby escapes with the kid. Ellie later arrived home only to find everything gone, Dina has left with the baby and left Ellie’s stuff behind. The girl we watched grow as a person from TLOU1 until 2 has lost everything; Joel, Jesse, her home, her revenge on Abby, her fingers and then her family despite how hard she fought for it. She’s once again alone, leaving all her stuff behind to maybe explore the world and find a new home.

    Finally, if you’re going to buy the game, get the physical version. I wish I could resell my game and get something out of it but I can’t since I got the digital version. I feel my €80 was wasted and would’ve rathered to just watch a play through. I feel it’s so poor because of the fact it’s a sequel, whereas again if this was its own new game it’s be incredible and maybe a 9/10 rather than the 6/10. Now I’m off to play TLOU and do my best to forget about TLOU2.    … Expand

Those in between are people who are not blindly furious with the game or completely fanboying around it. The game is average, it kills that the best part of the game happens in the first quarter of the game and is a descent from there, with some ups being miles from those first 3 hours of the game and it doesn't help the best parts of the games after those spike the game hit in those 3 first hours are flashbacks with Joel. The gameplay itself would give this game a minimum score of 4. After those three hours, you start playing as Ellie hunting down the team that kills Joel and it looks like a common vengeance story, but about half the game Ellie starts to doubt her revenge after killing a member from the team who was pregnant and thinks it best to leave it behind and go back with the team, but she gets ambushed by Abby who kills one of the three likable new side characters and TA-DA ... Back to the start of the story and you start playing as Abby from the moment she killed Joel, and the game starts trying to make you feel some attachment to the characters YOU ALREADY KILLED as Ellie. You find out that Owen is another likable character but the fact you know he is going to die x days latter makes so hard to create a link to the character even tho he probably has a better development then the 2 main characters during his small screen time in this flashback Abby segment and the game would make a better job if it made you play as Abby first after killing Joel and starting care about those new characters and making killing then with the Ellie segment a harder thing to do/see. I will stop the review here. The game is not even close to the 0 to 4 I see here. But no way in hell and heaven its an 8+ game too, damn even a 7 is an stretch because those are for games that are almost there. All those critics reviews just dont want to lose those early review copies they get and give this game a high score for it.… Expand

    Exploring some areas after few hours becomes really ridiculous. If you find a safe than you need to find a note that contains code. And the note is located right next to the safe. Often notes contain just a code, but rarely it's a little puzzle like some date you need to find out. A lot of boring notes. It's so ridiculous to see that everybody right before death has written its own note describing life, situation that was going on there and kinda like that.

    Animations: nothing to say, it is awesome. So smooth and realistic.
    Graphics: nothing to say, it is awesome too. Even after graphics downgrade, this game is beautiful. Especially cutscenes.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I genuinely thought about giving it a 0 score, but the game actually serves its purpose of entertaining, since the mechanics, gameplay, graphics and the feeling of survival is well presented.

    However, the disappointment is huge on the story, since Naughty Dog didn't just killed one of the most loved videogame characters in the last decade, but they literally spat on his corpse, not to mention that they forced us to play the second half of the game as a character we don't care about at all, and to top it, they want us to empathize with her and almost kill Ellie just because.
    Of course, this was a game about vengeance, so it doesn't make any sense that Ellie forgives Abby in the end, since she already lost Dina, her integrity and killed hundreds just to stop over a dumb flashback.

    They made a wonderful story in the first game, but this sequel is just a joke and craps on everything good this series had.

It's just crap, the only good thing I'll get out of it is the graphics, the gameplay is great and not bad, but when it comes to history, gameplay etc. it's just crap, totally boring and SINNER disappoints both the game itself and the ending, and the ending is so bad and disappointing and frustrating, they kill ellie's father figure in a ridiculous way (I mean, really? Joel didn't even trust his shadow and out of nowhere decides to save a stranger and let her take them to her shelter? it's like it wasn't joel), they kill their friends, they shoot him and blind in one eye practically his uncle, When we look for revenge they destroy us, And after we look for revenge again we let her go? not to mention we lose 2 fingers and the ability to play guitar, And if that wasn't enough, she abandons us and we end up alone, Losing everyone and we're left miserable. I know The Last of Us isn't a happy story, but please, is this a joke? The rest of the game obscures how little good this crap has. I doubt that Neil and the bunch of useless people who worked on it will see or care about our reviews considering the money he's making off of this crap. They turned a work of art and an incredible story that touched the hearts of millions of people into politically correct nonsense. If the companies keep this up, what's next? Will Kratos turn gay and participate in an LGBT march? I really don't recommend it at all… Expand

(SPOILERS + JUST MY OPINION) If Joel was just shot in the head with a pistol and not tortured to death i think this game would have been a lot better, its just asking a bit too much to sympathize with Abby after Joel saved her then she still goes on to commit such an act with no sign of hesitation. Its not like her fathers Death was still fresh in her mind either, surely 4 years of morning would have lessened her hatred to some extent, even Ellie showed mercy to Abby after killing people she love much more recently. If Abby was built up a bit more before she killed Joel the player might have had a better understanding of her situation but the start of the game felt like a speed run to kill the fans favorite Man. There is just no enjoyable element to this game and the flashbacks of Joel and Ellie just made me more miserable because you know those times are over forever . i dont even care that the gameplay was basically copy pasted. Its a story driven game and the Story is just a mess… Expand

A Step up from the Quantic Dreams experiences. I was hoping TLOU Part 2 would dethrone RDR2 for me as my current favorite piece of game storytelling.

    with the story , without giving any spoilers, this to me comes across as a classic case of bad writing where the writers had an idea of all the scenes they wanted and just wrote the story around that , rather than focusing on story first.

    all other criticisms aside I dont care if the game is political or wants to push a message , so long as it does so through telling a compelling story with compelling characters.

    this game has neither compelling story or characters and they somehow managed to make the old characters boring and aside from physical appearance, they seem to bear no resemblance to their previous iterations.

    I wanted to hold off on reviewing this game until I had played it as I thought many of what we are hearing about it on both sides is propaganda. Unfortunately now that I have played it I can say for me its just a boring game with a poorly thought out story that seems more concerned with chaining a bunch of set pieces together than telling a story.

    Full disclosure , I couldn't finish this game , it was too boring , I ended up watching videos and streams to see the end , and its not often I give up on a game.

    unfortunately there is no resolution or real growth for the characters and you get to the end and feel like nothing has really happened.

    such a shame , Naughty Dog are one of the best studios out there for this type of thing, but Kudos to the artistic integrity to make the game they wanted and to stick by their vision.

    I don't like the fans dictating to artists what their art should be . That's the artists prerogative, but I think the dialogue needs to be open , I didn't like this game, but I respect this is the game they wanted to make. Maybe their next game will be more down my alley.    … Expand

    Everything you want from the modern game. Amazing visuals, amazing story telling, gameplay that is unrivalled in intensity and fluidity, a plot line that has you guessing and gripped until the very end. I’ve been waiting 7 years for this and it has been worth the wait. Avoid spoilers if you can and play this game through with a fresh untainted outlook.

The music perfectly fits every scene adding more emotion and showing whats happening in the scene without having to even look at it. The characters are memorable and get attached to easily with every word feeling right coming from their mouth.The deaths of characters are quick but understandable. seeing as no person in this game is some superhuman being and 1 bullet is all it takes. Seeing Jesse and Joel go out the way they did makes total sense. This game is not riddled with bugs and glitches and the gameplay mechanics feel amazing. if there is anything to complain about its how Ellie left Dina and JJ. I understand why as she is stuck with the memory of Joel dying the way he did.But in my mind i just cannot see Ellie leaving them like that. With the cliffhanger it makes me really shocked and wonder as to what happened to characters like Dina, JJ, Tommy, Maria, the whole town of Jackson, and most importantly where Ellie goes next. I also have questions like who was the guy in command of the crazy people at the end of the game he reminded me of Bill but i dont know how it would be Bill knowing he wanted to work alone. I also really hope there will be a multiplayer this game would be perfect with the old factions mode the gameplay is great.… Expand

This game doesn't deserve the hate that is getting, I'm sure most of this people giving to it 0 an 1 didn't even play it. This results are simply unreliable and clearly irrational, you may not like the plot but giving it less than a 7 or at least a 6 out of 10 its simply unfair. Graphics are astonishing, same goes for animations and facial expressions, acting its really really good. Sounds effects and music are great.The gameplay made a big step forward compared to the first game, is fluid, very realistic and enjoyable. All this elements mixed together create a full immersion in a virtual world built with high mastery.The level of detail that they've put inside the multiple buildings that you can explore, in the nature that has literally eaten our artificial world, is unbelievable. There are lots of smaller details all around this world, notes, drawings, graffiti and more.This little things make the immersion even deeper and realistic towards the context, a post apocalyptic world which feels real, more real than what we got from most movies or TV shows. Sometimes during the exploration you will find something which will arouse Ellie's attention, she takes out her journal and makes a scatch, takes notes. You can read this journal and feel her, empathise with her, she is broken and you will be broken with her. Sometimes she will find a guitar and start playing (and you can actually play whatever you want, if you can of course).

    SPOILERS AHEAD Probably the most controversial part is when you start playing as the " villain". Honestly it caught me off guard and I got **** angry, I didn't want to play as her but at the same time I couldn't stop, I needed to see it through. A lot of people is accusing the writers that they wanted to force us to empathise with this character and somehow they felt offended, almost violated. I can get their point but this is a story driven, interactive movie like game, you don't get to chose, you just experience it. From my perspective the director just wanted to emphasise that everyone in this devastated world is in the same **** Even her, who killed one of the most beloved characters in the videogame history, is a person, and from a neutral point of view she deserved to get her revenge. After all that man killed her father, and as a consequence millions of other people kept dying. Having said that, I've never empathised with her, actually I kept hating her till the very end but this doesn't mean that I ended up hating the game, it means that I got really invested on it, like never before. Thus, this risky and controversial approach worked very well on me. If you loved the first game like me you will suffer while playing this one, you will mourn, you will feel rage and hate. But you will also experience moments of joy while remembering the past through very powerful flashbacks.This story works, it's very well written and it makes perfect sense. To me this is the best story driven game I've ever played, it's simply on another level.    … Expand

La historia fue decepcionante la muerte de Joel en mi opinión fue estúpida y sin sentido no el hecho de que muriera si no la manera, es que veo la escena y no veo a Joel, veo a un tonto con un rotulo en la cabeza que dice disparame. Si el director Neal, dijo que los protagonistas no iban tener un trato especial por ser los protagonistas ya vimos lo que les paso a Joel y a Ellie pero que me dicen de Abby encontró a Joel por pura casualidad del guión y justamente para que Joel la salve de morir para después cumplir su venganza,que raro Abby tubo su venganza a costa de perder a sus amigos, y Ellie perdió a su fugura paterna, a su amigo,su pareja e "Hijo",la relación con Tommy y sus dedos para no poder tocar la guitarra que fue algo que le enseño Joel a Ellie y por cierto Ellie ni tuvo su venganza.     I feel sorry for the developers, who clearly put in so much effort to make this game beautiful as it is. But the story is so bad that all that work is just... lost.

    The story was one of the biggest disappointments that I ever had on gaming. It doesn't feel natural, this Abby narrative is so forced, i had to drag myself to endure it. They try so hard to make you feel sympathy for this character, that I just can't understand. Can you imagine how hard it is to play with a persona that you are rooting against? argh.

    The first was so compelling because the characters felt like real people. The story just.. happens, as a result of these characters interactions. Total different story with this game. Many a times which I could tell that the narrative was being forcibly directed somewhere. Then, immersion is completely gone.

    There's talk about politics influence in this game, and I can clearly see it now. And honestly, I'm ok by that, it's you company, and the game is your product, do what you will with it, and let the market decide if it's worth buying. But with all the shady marketing ans misleading information prior to launch, I just feel lied to.

    This game is only a thing because of the masterpiece that was the first. And now, they s*** on the original characters, mislead the fans with dirty tactics in the promotional material, and just to complement, now the bad reviews are from bots and bigots.
