I'll start by saying that i have played TLOU1, and i loved it, as it was one of the most beautifully crafted stories that delved deep into the human psyche as to why things happen the way they do and why humans act the way they act in certain situations.

I'll start by saying that i have played TLOU1, and i loved it, as it was one of the most beautifully crafted stories that delved deep into the human psyche as to why things happen the way they do and why humans act the way they act in certain situations.

That being said, i hoped so much for TLOU2 to give me something close or equal to that, but it obviously and unfortunately didn't, and i'll start by pointing out why - the death of Joel and the rushed, cliché, exhausted and terribly written revenge story that the game forces on you for the entire game.

First is the contrivances and plot induced stupidity. And what i mean by that is a character or various characters acting stupid or acting in a way that does not match their personality to fuel a plot, and that plot device is so played out, so goddamn cliché that it hurts to see and play here, because not only does this game suffer a lot from this, but it so happens that one of the most iconic characters in gaming, Joel Miller, does aswell and that's sad.

Let's see about the scene of his death and how it happened to really dig in as to why he suffered from this plot induced stupidity. First, a group of random survivors interact with Joel, with (seemingly, at first) helpful intentions, but Joe,l with his 25 years of experience in this harsh, cruel world would know better than to trust some random GTA Posse that he encountered not a minute ago. So he goes inside the residence with all those random and suspicious people, all of which were visibly armed and asking a whole lot of questions. Joel goes head in this group of people, and stands in the middle of the **** room where he then reveals his name. This is where the game simply lost my attention, from this point forward i felt i wasted my time and my money on it because there are so many contrivances here, that it's really difficult to point them all out, but here we go:

First, Joel would most likely not reveal his name nor accept any help from these strangers, and if he did accept help he would be very wary of anything that might've looked like a threat, and that's all counting with his years of experience, which the writers forgot to acknowledge when writing this entire scene. He does everything in his power to be killed, i am not joking nor overexaggerating, he literally does everything he needs, step by step to get killed. In multiple occasions in tlou1, Joel demonstrated incredible awareness of his surroundings and seemed very wary of other people, regardless of how helpful or harmed they might've seen. I'll recall the scene where Joel is riding into a city, and he encounters a hunter trying to fool him by saying he's injured and needs help. Joel immediately understands it's an ambush and runs the guy over, confirming his suspicions when half a dozen hunters jump out of cover to try and stop him. After this encounter, he kills all the hunters and says to Ellie that he was also once a hunter, so he figured it probably was a trap anyways. Now tell me, where is this Joel? This man who was once a raider in a wasteland filled with criminals, this Joel who was smuggling goods in the beggining of the first game? Has he simply forgotten how to survive and live in this world?

One excuse i've heard is "oh come on man, he's not the same, he's gone soft." but that's no justification for bad writing and to induce a character to act a certain way because the plot requires it. In this case, the plot requires a revenge story, so the plot requires Joel to die, and so it requires him to act incredibly out of character for all that to happen. THAT is bad writing, and even if he did get older, it's only 5 years, in TLOU 1 he was 52 for god's sake, and 20 years before the events of the first game he was surviving, killing, and seeing **** few people have. 5 years of being soft does NOT erase the other 20 years that he's been out in the world trying to survive. In 5 years you're telling me he didn't face any harsh situations? any hard choices? nothing? It hurts my brain to try and justify this game because you simply cannot, it is impossible.

Well, that was the elephant in the room, now for my final considerations:

The game's graphics are the most beautiful Naughty Dog's ever crafted, the gameplay is exactly the same as the first game and all the positives you could have about this game are overshadowed by the incredibly horribly written story, and plot induced stupidity, and the inability to ACTUALLY get revenge, since Ellie does not kill Joel's murderer, which also makes no sense, since she kills everyone else anyways. Do not waste your money nor your time with this game, it's not worth it, and i hope ND can learn with this horrible mistake

Also, it should't be part of a review, but with all that has happened, you can't separtate Neil Druckmann's and his group attitude towards "their enemies", enemies that they created with their inmature, imprudent, selfish and even dangerous attitude in the creation of the game and the "message" (ceratinly not one that seeks peaceful end) that they wanted to deliver with the game. It makes you wonder who the "hero" "good guy" "paragon" or the deliverer of the "good message" was wanted to be here, if someone withing the game or someone outside the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a Masterpiece. I loved playing through the game from start to finish. So many emotionally draining moments, from Joel's death to the ending. It was a heartbreaking story with Ellie seemingly losing everything, Dina and JJ included as a result of her hunting for revenge for Joel's death. Hands down best game I've ever played, it's even the first one that has made me cry (Sarah's death and Ellie's incident with David made me come close).

Visually, the game was absolutely stunning. The reflections were fantastic and the lighting was superb, even on a base PS4 with normal 1080p TV. It felt so real and in particular the cut scenes where more often than not it was like watching a scene out of a movie instead of a game. Great animation too, superb; the movement was so fluid and I loved the transitions from cut scene to gameplay, very well done!!

The soundtrack is something else. It's phenomenal. It really adds to the experience in my opinion. The music along with the heartbreakingly brutal story just works, it's memorable. I could listen to a piece of music from the game and remember which song was in what bit of the game (I.e. All Gone playing when Joel dies when you're playing and playing All Gone without playing the game you just know where in the game that song is.

Obviously the game isn't perfect, I do wish the Abby segment wasn't as long as it was BUT I do think that got to show is more about her, her motives for wanting to kill Joel and her change as a character (once being a devout Wolf, then going AWOL and helping Seraphites.
Yes there was that scene on the boat with Owen and Abby and maybe it was a bit too much but this is an 18 and we know about their past relationship so I don't have many complaints there.

I loved the brutality, the combat felt too real with the incredible graphics, very detailed.

I've already played through it twice (first completed 21/06/20) and I still felt the same way as I did when completing the game for a second time. Even when you know what's coming it still gets you emotionally, and the Rat King is still just as scary and revolting as the first time. Fantastic game!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just wanted to get all this out right after finishing the game. I have so many questions and so many feelings. HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD.

I'll start off with this. I've been waiting for a sequel back in 2013 since the credits rolled after Joel's lie.
The first game was a masterpiece. And it's probably why people are talking so much smack about this sequel. Neil's writing peaked at the first installment of The Last of Us. That was it. Hands down.

See, the problem with this sequel is because the first one set the bar too high. But Naughty Dog did their absolute best to bang this game out. I loved the graphics, I loved the gameplay, I loved the challenges, I loved the feeling of getting through those insane bosses. I actually had some fun. It was intense, it was thrilling.

BUT, this isn't anything like the first one. There were some parts of the game that I thought was just a drag. Playing as different characters isn't anything new but playing as the game's antagonist definitely was a different experience. When the game tried to gain sympathy for Abby by putting us in her shoes, it sort of worked for me.

I was so confused as to why I actually felt sorry for Abby when Ellie was beating her up at the final fight. I guess that's what made this game good in its own way. Good guy? Bad guy? This game blurred the lines between those. It was a roller coaster of emotions. A bundle of unpredictability.

Ellie and Joel's fate broke my heart into a million pieces. However, I will not give this a bad rating. It wasn't unbearable to play, it was just hard to watch everything that everyone went through. I've developed an emotional attachment to these characters since the first game so of course I've shed some tears during some parts of the game.

If you liked this game, let's call it an acquired taste.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II isn't a bad game. But it isn't brilliant. The first 12 hours as Ellie were perfect. I was an emotional mess, even having to take a break when Joel died. But I loved it. I loved how well the emotion was being delivered and I loved revisiting this world and the characters of Ellie and Joel. The relationship between those two characters was such a huge element of the first game and it continued through the flashbacks in this game.

So it felt like a slap in the face when I was handed control of Abby in Seattle. I know it's not uncommon to play a character you aren't too fond of in a video game, but this felt like the wrong game to do that. Her gameplay was insufferable. I just lost interest as soon as I realised how long I was going to play her. There was such a strong attachment to Joel and Ellie taken from the first game, so you didn't even want to give the person who ruined their dynamic a chance.

On a more positive note however, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker's performances were incredible and the museum scene was absolutely beautiful.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really don’t understand how anyone could defend this game. Politics and agendas aside, the story was horrible. What made the first game so epic and amazing was having Ellie attached at the hip, creating a dynamic that everyone fell in love with. It was such a good dynamic that they tried to replicate it with god of war. Not only did they undo that dynamic by separating them and spitting on their relationship the entire game and claiming Ellie “doesn’t need” Joel, but they then kill Joel in a way that was completely unbecoming of his established character. Joel is a man who has walls of trust issues. The idea that he would walk into a room and tell people his given name and where he lives is insane. To then have Ellie go on to kill hundreds for the sake of revenge to then not kill the person ACTUALLY responsible? Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to begin with this game...I avoided the rumors, ignored all the copyright abuse of sony for so much as breathing about this game. I wanted to believe Naughty Dog would deliver as they did for the first game. BOY was I wrong: the only thing they did (like the first game) made it look nice. This is a BEAUTIFUL game. The problem is the story and characters. Whoever wrote them needs to be fired and blacklisted because what I was forced to endure was The Last Jedi levels of terrible story writing and character assassination.

Joel, the way they send off this amazing character is disgusting. We're forced to play a disgusting and terrible woman after we watch her BEAT Joel's head in with a golf club and Naughty Dog expects us to LIKE HER!? She is fundamentally an evil character, every time I played her I purposely let her die because I found it humors against this character who had done nothing to make me like her. Seven years of waiting for this game and all we're rewarded with is Abby practicing her golf stroke on Joel's head!

The entire game there is nothing to make her endearing, nothing to make her sympathetic or understandable, and at the end when Ellie, who until now has carved a bloody path to get to this disgusting character, has her hands around her neck choking her...she lets her go...WHAT!? The person who KILLED Joel, your father figure, after you carved a bloody path to get to her and you LET HER GO!?

I don't care about the 'Revenge is bad' dumb message, this is an insult to Joel, Ellie, and all the loyal fans who waited nearly 7 years for this game, only for Sony and Neil to slap us in the face and tell us we better like their **** or else we're every name in the book companies call us when we don't like the message they're trying to force down our throat.

1/10. The Last of Us stood out thanks to its amazing story and beautiful graphics. This game only has graphics and a pice of **** story that will be forever remembered for being absolute garbage. I hope it was worth it Naughty Dog.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What's good about it:
-One of the most amazing graphics in game I've ever seen. You can see where 100 mil went
    -Gameplay is decent
-You can turn on slowmo. Kills look very good that way
    What's bad:
Oh boy, there's a lot. Visual flows:
-Faces during gameplay. They are scary. It's like those videos where characters are with maximum expression: their eyes are popping out, they are really sad or really angry. Very strange.
-Invisible walls in the places where they shouldn't be. I can understand invisible walls in forests but not on top of a crane (You can jump of it but if you try to throw a bottle to the left or right it'll break and not fall).
    Gameplay:
-Jump button is mostly useless. It's not that frequently used and jump animation is wonky.
-You get stunned if you get shot. Maybe there is more challenge because of it but for me it's mostly annoying. The game forces you to play more careful, you can't really run straight into the enemy anymore, just hide and wait. At least you can run away from them.
-It's incredibly boring. If you played first bioshock, it's kind of the same experience. You go from one location to another killing similar enemies, looting them and killing them again. There are some interesting upgrades, but not a lot. As you progress you find different types of guns same as in bioshock were potions. But all of that is not enough to make killing similar enemies over and over again any entertaining.
-Stupid AI. You can enter journalist mode by just laying down. Human npc won't be able to see you at all. They can even walk on you. F U N
-Notes. Maybe it's just me but making any sort of exposition by placing notes that couldn't have been written in the kind of circumstances they were written is lazy. They're not even that interesting, exposition could've been done without them.
-Without arrows it's difficult to navigate.
    Story (Spoilers up ahead):
Jesus Christ it's atrocious. This game feels as a work of someone who surrounded themselves in a bubble of people who have the same "mindset" and no one was dare to argue with them.
First 3 hours of exposition are already boring but they are probably necessary. Well anyhow, there is Abby who wants to kill Joel because he killed her father, when trying to escape with Ellie from the hospital. It's unfortunately almost all the character of Abby. Oh, and she is also very strong. She kills Joel in the first couple of hours and Ellie than tries to get revenge on her. Before killing Joel, she gets in trouble with zombies but Joel saves her (And immediately says who he is to her even though Joel said himself that the only one you can trust is yourself. Maybe its the old age?) After that Abby kills Joel in front of Ellie and Neil Druckmann selfinsert spits on the corpse of Joel. That small detail is actually how gamers and maybe developers feel about the characters. They are irrelevant. Well anyhow, for some reason, developers decided that it'll be a good idea to play an empty villain character for a half of the game. Every ending where Abby dies automatically becomes a good one, because you don't care about her one bit. She is strong. She is powerful. She got her revenge. That's it. All the side characters are even more underdeveloped or extremely unlikeable. Abby has a boyfriend who cheats on his own pregnant wife with her. Pregnant wife is barely a character. Selfinsert Druckmann is Spanish (it's all the character development). Abby along the way meets little trans boy Lev (trans and lgbt characters are thrown in there just for a tick) and his sister who quitted the Scars - a cultist group which everyone considers an enemy. She for some reason decides to help them, because they saved her life, even though Joel did the same. (Of course, Joel killed her father, but these people are almost random and can potentially be a threat. It's all just to make Abby a little more likable). Abby and Lev lose a lot of friends along the way. But not only they are forgettable to the audience, they are forgettable to characters themselves. Lev loses his mom and sister but as soon as they are out of sight he immediately forgets about them. Not a single word is heard from him. Same thing with Abby's and Ellie's friends. And when Abby gets her very slight character development Ellie doesn't. All she thinks about is revenge. So its even disturbing to see her in the end sparing life of Abby. She killed your father and friends, even bit of your fingers and you won't do anything about it? You killed all those people along the way just to not do anything? Like one youtube comment said:" It's like if John Wick killed all the bad guys for his dog and then decided to adopt a cat".
Thank you Druckmann, I understand now. Violence is bad. What a valuable lesson. Actually, even when npcs die others scream the names of those npcs you just killed. Well, I guess I feel sorry now.
Overall there are no interesting characters and you dont sympathise with anyone.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the worst game I've played in the last decade. I was a huge fan of the first game, and played it on release in 2013 on the PS3. I've played the remastered version on the PS4 13 times on record, and it remains one of my favourite games of all time.

This game seems to undo everything that made the first game so great. I felt misled by ths trailers, as we actually end up playing 70% of the game as Abby and not Ellie. A character Naughty Dog forces us to play as, and one of the most unlikeable characters in the history of media. Seriously, this character is horribly written and there's nothing to like. No, she's not transgender like many people would have you believe but she is not built like any real female so this makes her even more unbelievable. She does horrible things to characters we care about, and they force us to do some of these awful things as this she-hulk like character to the point I nearly stopped playing. It's that bad. The graphics are gorgeous, but that's it really. The gameplay is similar to the first, so it's good fun, but when you don't care about the story or character you're playing as it just doesn't work. I hated all 21 hours of this game (not the 30-35 advertised), have now deleted it and will not re-install. Very disappointed with this after a long 7 year wait. Booked time off work, and upgraded to a PS4 pro console for nothing.

Gameplay hasn't improved at all. The first game was carried by a gripping masterpiece of a story. This game did the complete opposite and by the end, I didn't care about anything I was playing anymore. The biggest gaming disappointment in 30 years of gaming.

Now I pre ordered the deluxe edition (matter of fact i cant get a return for that) and i was so anxious about playing it but...

    - Graphics were ok, from the 2017 trailer to the last product, there is a downgrade, ok i didnt care that much. God of War look much way better
    - Gameplay was poor, the same moves, the same was to fight, no evolution after all.
    - Sound was marvelous, dont argue with that
    - History and plot: this is the big dowsizing about the game, not even waited more than 2 hours, and Joel is dead... i mean wtf, he was the hero of the game, i wanted to know more about Jackson, how was the live there, how they can analyze Ellie for getting a cure, i dont know but she went to a cruzade, killing all living and dead just to get Joels murdered and forgive her....WTF thats just stupid come on. A horrible plot, no evolution on the game...why is that a zombie game anymore

Sorry for my anger but they destroyed TLOU1 with this crap

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I got the platinum trophy for The Last of Us, I’ll never do that for the The Last Of Us part 2, its a very simple reason why. This game is definitely more difficult than its predecessor and the reward at the end of the tunnel, for the increased difficulty is a giant middle finger. In the end you end up losing almost everything you care for and have no idea what becomes of the MC not even a little. There are a lot of punishing games but not as many feel this unrewarding. With the lost of multiplayer your only option is to watch Ellie lose everything and everyone she cares about over and over again. I’ve been waiting so long for this game and I’ve already finished it and collected 60% of the trophies. So what now do I replay this depressing story and watch all my favorite characters suffer literally to no end.
Honestly that’s my only choice, im at a lost. I’m pretty much done with it 3 days in.

No, this game is bad because it is mercilessly grim, and full of cynical, performative gestures designed to ingratiate itself to the worst sort of toxic, internet SJW’s. It opportunistically works it’s way down a checklist of hot button issues, especially regarding representation, while exuding this snide, pretentious attitude about it the whole way through. It seems to be calling it’s own audience a bunch of chauvinist pigs for no discernible reason. “See?!” It says. “Women aren’t just objects for YOUR enjoyment!!” Yeah, okay, fine. Some girls are buff or whatever, I guess? But this game is full of machismo-approved pornographic ultra violence. “Shut up!” It replies. “That’s all just a metaphor for what it feels like to live with the trauma YOU inflict upon the world every single day.” Yeah, okay. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've waited 7 years for this game to come out. The Last of Us part 1 was my favorite game and I loved it so much I named my Cat Ellie after the game...i have had the videogame poster from TLOU1 framed in my living room for all these years, I'm a huge fan. Naughty Dog needs to apologize to everyone for TLOU2. I beat both games but the sequel is so bad... I wish they never made a sequel that's how bad it is. The wilderness/scenery is great but that's it. The storyline is absolute garbage. The game feels dragged out and I even was bored alot of the time. It felt like I kept playing hoping it would somehow get better and and I'd feel better about it already being ruined in the first 2-3 hours of the game but it only continues to be absolute garbage. I wanted to cry not because of how sad it was but how let down I felt by the game developers and writers. They had all this time and no one working there could convince them to redo it and that theyre ruining the whole game. This game made me feel like ill never have hope in games again. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was a masterpiece. The set design, the music, the weapon customizations were all incredible.
Story wise... Playing from Abby's POV at first was infuriating. I hated it and hated it and hated it until, slowly, I didn't, and finally, by the end, it was my favourite part of the game. In the first half of play, I was disappointed because I felt like there wasn't a lot of growth in Ellie. What I'd loved about TLOU1 was the character growth we saw in Joel, and it just felt like that was missing. In the second half, though, I got that growth I wanted, and I got it from playing Abby. The idea of violence begetting violence was heart wrenching and painfully clear through the plot. When Ellie and Dina ended up at the farmhouse with JJ, I wept. I was so grateful that they got a happy ending, JJ was adorable, and it felt right. It felt like an end to the violence. When Ellie went after Abby and left Dina, I was angry. I wish the game had ended on that happy note, but the reasoning behind it made sense. The final ending of the game felt a little hopeless, with a tremendous sense of loss, but with layers and open directions to go. I hope there is a 3rd.
I'm giving this game a 10, because it gave me everything I'd want from a game. The action was fun and a clear upgrade from the original. I loved all the variation in combat, the horses, the crossbow, the boats. I was losing my mind at how incredible the Haven burning scene was and having to stealth between two factions at war. I really liked Lev and Yara. The conflict with their mom was heartbreaking and I found myself very attached to the characters. My emotions were wrecked multiple times through this game, but, classifying it as a tragedy, I loved it. A truly immersive experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all please let me point out i personally regard The Last of Us as the greatest single player game ever made.

I was 24 when i first played it and i never expected a video game to have such an emotional impact. Sarah's death in the prologue, Tess's sacrifice in Boston, Sam and Henry's deaths, the game had me hooked with hard hitting story moments. At the core of the first game we have the relationship that develops between Ellie and Joel, this is key to everything that is good about the game, the experiences they go through shape that relationship and develop the characters.

Marketing trailers for the second game strongly suggest we will see that relationship explored further and tested. The closing scene of the first game we see Ellie question Joel about the events at Salt Lake City and its suggested she thinks he is lying.

Ultimately Joel is killed at the hands of a new playable Character (Abby) whom we have no attachment with what so ever just 90 minutes into the game. Now i have no problem with main characters dieing, in a post apocalyptic back-drop one could say it should be expected but the way Joel's death played out left me feeling nothing, it felt ham fisted and forced through for shock value and to set the wheel in motion for what would follow, a story of vengeance.

Why was it ham fisted and force you say?

Joel and Tommy have both survived post out break for at this point 24/25+ years and yet we are supposed to believe they go like willing cattle to the slaughterhouse. Rule number one in any post apocalyptic world, do not trust strangers, particularly groups, better the enemy you know, in this case the infected.

Naughty Dog did not want this game to be another Joel and Ellie adventure, so they got desperate in forcing an unbelievable situation in which Joel died and Ellie had the path laid before her to go and seek revenge.

So Ellie & Dina set out for Seattle to find the people that murdered Joe and kill them, i feel that at this point the relationship develop between Ellie and Dina essentially stops. Ellie fights through countless enemies slaying them as she goes into what becomes a quest to find and murder Abby along with hopefully some answers.

The cinema showdown, acts as a Cliffhanger. Jesse dies but given how little development he got it feels inconsequential to the story. I hate Cliffhangers and this one feels all the more worse as you are forced to play 6-8 hours as Abby, who is essentially a female terminator.

I get what Naughty Dog are trying to do, there is always another side and perspective to every story but i choose my side 7 years go with the emotional attachment i formed with Ellie and Joel despite their flaws and no matter how many hours you force me play as Abby do gooder it will not change the outcome i desire for her and that is a brutal death at the hands of Ellie.

If the Abby/Yara/Lev section of the game had been a standalone separate story from the Joel and Ellie story, i would have enjoyed it alot more given more character development.

Cinema Cliffhanger, Abby in full search and destroy mode after finding pretty much everyone else involved in Joel's murder is now dead. I like the way Nora died tbh that was a minor highlight.

Jesse dead, Tommy shot and down, we are forced to hunt Ellie as Abby, this almost made me throw up the game did not revert back to Ellie being the playable character at this point. Thankfully Lev shut downs the Terminator before she can execute Dina/Ellie/Tommy, given her little develop and her friends deaths, it would of been in her character to kill all 3.

Farmhouse act 1, at this point i thought the game was going to end, it would of been weak (Abby essentially letting her go once more) but with Ellie sat on the tractor overlooking the horizon, with JJ in her arms the credits could have rolled with a reasonably happy but unfulfilling ending.

Ultimately Ellie is still haunted by Joel's murder, Tommy turns up alive thankfully but semi crippled to set the next step of the game in motion. Abby is in Santa Barbara. Following a short play as Abby both Abby & Lev are captured by another group known as the Rattlers and taken prisoner/slave.

Ellie leaves Dina/JJ to go hunt Abby down, despite Dina's warning she will not wait for her to return. At this point i was just glad to be back playing Ellie, after so much time being forced to play as Abby.

Ellie slays countless to get to a somewhat reduced Abby who has been left to die, after saving her life, forces her into a fight she does not want for once. Beats her only to let her live.

The ending shows Ellie's sense of loss, Joel dead, Dina and JJ gone, she cant even play Guitar anymore after loosing two fingers. A brief flashback shows Ellie wanted to forgive Joel for his lie, the game should have ended on this scene, which is by far the most emotionally powerful moment in the entire game.

No one has ever done something like that for a video game story so it would be an original design decision. That way, people who like this version can still enjoy it, but for people who want an actual story can play the real version. Both versions would be debated upon, but the decision to redo this game entirely with a new story would make me forget about and forgive the mistakes made in this version. I know that this won't happen because the Niel Druckmann fell to one of the oldest stumbling blocks in history which would be pride. He directed a masterpiece and the praise got to his head. Instead of looking at what the fans loved about the first game, he did his own thing, confident that he was smarter than everyone else, and ended up destroying his own masterpiece. It's not the first time that a leader has fallen to pride and it certainly won't be the last time. If Niel Druckmann and the team completely redid the game with an actual story, it would be one of the quintessential comebacks of our time. It would surprise everyone and would earn the respect of every gamer who felt betrayed by this version. As it stands though, this game is completely unplayable.

And as for calling Abbey a d*ke lol she's straight if you played the game youd see that but most didn't, how could they review it within hours of it being out when the games insanely long.. And as for playing as abbie sorry her side of the story was amazing to see and you were just to salty over Joels death. The end of the game is about humanity as a whole and the things people will do to each other for it and the things they will give up in themselves for it. But that is probably lost on some people. The story was the best iv seen next to red deads in a video game. The graphics are beyond anything iv seen to the point of looking like it was a next gen game already. I would advise anyone to play the WHOLE game and see for yourself there are no forced politics or agenda's here just backward people from backwards countries who are not used to woman who are tough and bad ass. Shame on you for being so disgusting. Anyway this for me was probably the best video game i ever had the privilege to play and i will remember it for a very long time. Haters are gonna hate stop being so childish over Joel and enjoy the game for what it is a fantastic peice of gaming and story telling Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished the game, and to be honest it isn't what i expected. A lot of people throw garbage to the game, specially giving a solid 0, but it deserves better than that if we took as consideration, the gameplay, the graphics and some elements that made the first TLOU so epic. However i didn't understand why to go so far in the history to tell a history of revenge? (Which was never done by Ellie), just to let go Abby, after all she done to her.
This is so upsetting. When i started playing this, i said "OH BOI" at least i was prepared to see a few characters die that we met in TLOU, but i didn't expect they kill Joel like trash, wich is one of the other things i'm upset, i tough Joel will be a playable character, or even a NPC in the game, but no, the only thing you sell was Joel diying as it was nothing.
Ok... Despite of that, i was willing to keep playing because i was sooooo impatient to get my hands on Abby to forgive her...? I mean WTF, after that i tough "i was cheated".
I must say the devs of the have my gratitude, the mechanics of the game are so buffed, and making the weapons and some objects with limited durations was a lot of challenge included that you always had to get inside of a building or look around to get some loot, anyways. I talked with my friends about the game and it was mixed opinions, but honestly i didn't believe them because no one of them have a PS4, so i lend the TLOU 2 to my cousin to play the game, and we feel them same, the worst part... He didn't even play the 1st TLOU, and said that the history was garbage. Some people told me, that i didn't understand the entire game, that i'm dumb as f**** so i got no idea of the "excelent masterpiece" that game was, but to be honest i think you don't have to understand something to ENJOY the game. So outside of the history the game was good, like a 5 o 6, but this game is one of those that you only have a history to tell, so if the entirely plot (Not only the final), is so bad tasting, what else is left to give? I hope the next year Naughty Dog says that this was ruse and the real TLOU 2 is still developing.
From this i can conclude 3 things.
    1.- This isn't the real TLOU 2.
2.- They give this bad game to make 3rd one "more interesting".
3.- They planned to end all this ini the 1rst TLOU with and open ending, but due to the creative ideas, between writers they make tthis poor plot lack of consistency.

It's one of the most inclusive and accessible games and the world needs more games like this one. It has over 60 accessibility settings! All game devs should learn from Naughty Dog and wear the inclusion pants without fear. You will enjoy the game in every way (unless you're a homophobic prick who rates the game without even playing it for at least 5 minutes).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's heartbreaking to give this game such a low score considering how much I adored the first one however it's unfortunately what it deserves. The graphics are stunning as expected for a 2020 game, I found myself in awe walking around the different sets, the acting for the most part is phenomenal, the gameplay is great (most of it was recycled from the original game so really nothing new other than the fact that Ellie is faster and less bulky than Joel was making room for some interesting mechanics), the music was breathtaking, the story and character writing however was not. Naughty Dog completely ruined this games potential when they wrote such unlikable characters, I found myself being bored during most dialogue and just switched off to admire the graphics. To give such a beloved character an awful excuse of a 'send off' for no reason other than to fuel a revenge story is insulting to fans of the original game and by the 6th hour into the game it doesn't even feel like you're out for revenge it just feels like Ellie's on a rampage and Joel's death is just the best excuse they could come up with and to then be forced into playing as the character that killed him & expecting us to care for her is just rubbing salt on the wound. ND's handling of trailers was absolutely disgusting I avoided spoilers like my life depended on it and bought the game thinking I was going to get an Ellie focused story (a character who I loved) to build upon her character with Joel as one of the possible side characters (I wouldn't have even been mad if they killed him off at some point respectfully), instead she's been written as an uncharismatic teenager that nobody likes, her personality has completely changed and I guess you could read into it and say it's just a part of growing up in an apocalyptic universe however this is never explained. Joel goes from a careful, smart survivor to someone who willingly tells a group of armed strangers his name regardless of the reputation he built in the events of the first game. Scenes are ridiculously violent for the sake of being violent to a point where I personally had so much anxiety I had to stop playing for a while. If there's one good thing about the story & characters I suppose you could stretch and say it's ok at diversity, there's a handful of lgbtq+ characters & different ethnicities however it's not GREAT representation, scenes feel forced and one of the characters even plays into a harmful stereotype for bi people so take it or leave it. Overall The Last of Us 2 just feels like Naughty Dog ruined a perfect story with incredibly enjoyable characters just for the sake of making a sequel and getting more money, as a long time fan I will definitely not be buying anymore products from them. The score of 4 is based purely on graphics and gameplay but it's definitely not worth your money.
It's upsetting to see reviewers blindly hating this game JUST because it features lgbt people at the center of it. However it's equally as frustrating to see people blindly supporting it, at the end of the day the story is just simply an injustice to the original game that so many people love and that's all it really boils down to.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
