    This game tried to be so "inclusive" with the homosexual tendencies that lost the focus of the main history, to be honest i don't know what the hell did i played... Look like a sloppy second game from a porn page.

Really spent 25 hours to not kill abby. The combat is alright. There is a lot of issues with the game. I literally smash someone's head onto a invisible wall. I just don't know anymore. Its embarrassing to character development to because I just don't see a point.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I can only give this game a 4 because I only enjoyed 4/10 of this game. I loved playing as Ellie. It was fun exploring her life in Jackson and her relationship with Joel. Also her post life with Dina was amazing until it was not. I understand why they ended Joel, but the character should have not been Abby.

    Abby- Unlikeable. A Man? Her backstory was worthless and made me care even less for her.

    I don't give a flying **** about Abby. I still don't know if she is a man or a Woman. I think she is actually a woman (Jury is still out). She can only bench 105 pounds and she either took it in ass with no lube after a long day of fighting or she does have a Vag. Abby was so ****ing distracting that she ruined the game.

    The Shamalama Ding Dong twist with Lev actually being a girl was... unnecessary and more distracting. They tricked everyone into calling Lev a "him" if you have a Vagina you are a female. If you have a Penis you are a male. Lev or real name Lilly is a girl. It is science.

    The gameplay was fun I beat it on survivor and was challenged. Aiming was ****ing awful sometimes with direct hits that missed the target.

    The ending was dumb. She let Abby live to set up TLOU3. Abby probably ran off the Catalina Island to rejoin the fireflies. This is now a cash grab for Naughty Dog. There will more than likely be a TLOU3. It was the equivalent to Mario killing all the Goombas and getting to Bowser and not beating him or letting him go and saying **** Peach.

    My fan theory... they could have brought in Ellies Mom or Dad find out what caused the infection. They might do that with TLOU3, but I am over this **** show of a game.

    If Abby was different it could have been redeemable. I just did not give a **** about her or her crew. I wanted them all dead. I Still want Abby dead.    … Expand

    If the first installment is about arrogance weighing the value of life, the sequel is about the cycle of revenge.
    Both are in harmony within the big theme of restoring humanity.

    The sequel, however, doesn't make sense to everyone except some of the producers that revenge is circulating, so only the producers act as if they can purify the world with special aesthetics and moral judgment.
    With such an attitude, he insults, belies, ridicules, and preaches those who truly loved the main characters of the previous series.
    To sum up, it's doctrinaire.

Many new likeable characters get introduced and we really get to know our favourites from part one, in good and in bad ways.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played through the game in about 20 hours, and I must say, this is a masterpiece to me. Apart from some pacing issues in the story, everything was an amazing experience. The gameplay is a mayor upgrade from the first game, but still has the core of that game, so if you didn't like that gameplay then you probably won't enjoy the gameplay of the second game. The visuals are the best I've ever seen on PS4 and I couldn't stop using the photo mode every two seconds. The sound design is ofcourse also beautiful and makes the atmosphere even more immersive. The story also took a very different path than the first game. Most people don't like way Joel's death was handled and the character Abby. I'm actually fine with the way Joel's death was done and his choices don't seem unrealistic to me. The different perspectives you play through during the story also make a lot of sense and show more of the theme of no clear bad guys or good guys. I liked Abby's character and playing as her also showed the "good" side of her. People are also unhappy with the ending but I really think it makes sense. At the last moment Ellie comes to the realization of the cost of revenge and because of that she let's Abby go. That was her only way of finding peace with Joel's death and she realizes that. It has the same feeling as the first games ending and made me even more emotional. Overall, this is a game I would definitely recommend. It is definitely not a game for everyone though. The story takes a way different route and certainly for fans with specific expectations, this may not be an enjoyable experience for them. Next to that, reading the leaks afterwards, I understand why the game would seem very bad. But most of the narrative has been left out in that, and I think people really need to have played this game/watched the ENTIRE playthrough (not just a couple hours) to form a good opinion. Most people are basing their opinions on Joel's death and the fact you play as Abby for 40% of the game, but I think that's unjustified. And even if it had a garbage story, I'd actually still buy it because the gameplay, visuals and scenery are still **** amazing. But with this great revenge story with it, it's a 10/10 for me. (And yes, 10/10 doesn't mean it has zero flaws. But this is definitely my game of the year and it may even be one of my favourite games of all time, so it deserves a 10.)… Expand

    Looks wonderfull, but history is terrible pushing agendas that are not good for me or the children that we know will play this game, besides PG rating that should have been 18+ and not only M. Gave me the same feeling of last season of Designated Survivor, completely biased gender relation agenda, feel sorry that a company like Naughty Dog went in this direction

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not entirely sure why this game is getting so much hate by the fan base to the point of "review bombing". It's extreme, to say the least. Disclaimer - I haven't finished the game yet so maybe the ending is what possibly set all this drama off. But I do know that even if the ending is terrible, I'm still having fun playing this game so far and I intend to finish it. It is definitely not worth the lowest rating possible on every reviewing platform; although it is everyone's right to give whatever score they choose even if it is the lowest. I just hope that they are considering every aspect of the game and giving a fair, unbiased (to others review bombing) score.

    The original game is currently one of my favorite games of all time. The story focused on two characters who weren't too sure of each other at first, but alongside the player, started "warming up" to each other and developing an unbreakable bond. Thus, the player developing an extreme emotional connection (or at least I did) to the characters that was (SPOILER) later suddenly shattered in the sequel (SPOILER OVER). Then we have the core of the story; a "zombie" apocalypse that is a bit of a twist. Instead of the typical virus outbreak and hordes of relatively normal looking walking dead, the core story revolves around a fungus outbreak that acts extraordinarily different than the former. They aren't the typical walking dead, they're over-grown fungal covered and parasitically controlled monsters. Lastly, we have the gameplay. It's very similar to the Resident Evil series. Except less puzzlely, much more action and sudden events intensive, and more cut scenes between areas due to the heavily story-driven nature of the game. All of which I love and make me prefer the game over the Resident Evil series.

    The sequel, as you would expect, overall improves on the basis of the previous game. I've played past the part where (SPOILER) Joel dies (SPOILER OVER) so I know that the original emotional connection with the previous main characters is semi faded away but I still find the story engaging enough. Would I say it's better than the first game? No, obviously not. But it is generally difficult for any game to outshine the original. The first time you play something, you develop a first time experience that acts also as a bias, tilting the scales in its favor compared to the sequel(s). All I'm saying is that the first game's story was amazing and the second game's might not as amazing, but it is still decent at the very least.

    The gameplay is more fun than the first game's. The new attack dodging ability is really cool, I just think that it is a little too easy to dodge most enemies attacks. I am playing the game on "SURVIVOR" mode which is the hardest difficulty that can be picked, unless there are harder ones unlocked after beating the game for the first time. Given I was playing on the hardest difficulty, I found that enemy attacks were way too slow to hit me so it became apparent that I could just punch/slash the absolute !%$# out of everything instead of using ammo or stealth. That's a bit of an over exaggeration, there were points were I ran out of ammo and had to resort to stealth, but it made me feel like a badass fighter. I also found that you can take an unhuman amount of bullets before dying. I was being shot like 4 - 5 times before running out of health which became felt way too easy on the hardest difficulty. In real life, you'd be lucky to survive one shot depending on the impact location. I think they should make it 1 shot then 2 shots with health upgrades on the hardest mode. They definitely should do some difficulty retweaking in terms of player damage. Lastly, the stealth is a little too easy. They added a full prone feature so you can lie on your stomach and crawl. It's slow but it basically makes you invisible to enemies even if they are like 5 feet away. Combine that with the craftable silences, which by the way I always had one crafted, and you're easily a "skilled" assassin with next to no effort compared to typical stealth action.

    Some say the story is lacking; I agree that the story is definitely not as good compared to the original game's, but overall the game is good. Needs a bit of tweaking in difficulty/balance but it is just about as fun as the first game. I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this review for holding an unpopular opinion; so be it. The game is fun for me and no one or group is going to deny that fact. If this game was zero fun, then I'd score it a 0 but that's not what I think and I'm standing by it.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Imagine you have a favorite movie. A movie about a beautiful relationship being formed between Two people. Who grow from strangers to family in a masterfully written tale. Who would sacrifice anything for each other’s safety and well-being.

    Now imagine that after 7 years you are given a sequel to that movie. You imagine the wonderful adventures these two will go on, and how much it will mean to you, especially now that the relationship is already formed. And you excitedly go sit down to watch the sequel, and as soon as you hit play, a strange jacked up woman beats the main character to death with a golf club and then the rest of the movie is about her love life.

    That is literally this game.

    The story is so forced that there are times I had to pause the game and think of the motivations of the character because I couldn’t comprehend what the reasons were for doing what they were doing. Making me feel that I was missing something..... but I wasn’t.

    On top of that this game took inclusivity, which is by its nature a great thing, and cranked it up to 400,000% to the point that I wasn’t sure if I was watching something progressive or regressive. When my team is made up of a female bodybuilder, a physically handicapped woman, a transgender man, a lesbian couple, an interracial couple, a Jewish woman, many various minorities, and a pregnant woman... and at the same time the two strongest white male leads (who were the heroes of the first installment) have their IQs dropped to 15 so the writers can have them walk into the most obvious trap ever; I’m left questioning if what I’m watching is actually progressive, or borderline condescending.

    I feel betrayed, and it is very sad because the actual gameplay is rather fun... the graphics are amazing... and It’s being built on the foundation of the story of one of the best games of all time. The ingredients are there for this to succeed tremendously. But it doesn’t. The character you play as is so insanely unlikable that there are moments where you are rooting for the people you’re being asked to kill to kill you. As that would make you feel better. This game puts you in a position where you will set your controller down and say. “I don’t want to do this, I just want to have fun, why are you making me do this?”    … Expand

Эта игра очень спорная. У кого то может гореть от неё , а кому то понравится сюжет . По себе я могу сказать что здесь все спорно, с одной стороны очень больно в начале и хочется убить того кто совершил этот поступок , а с другой стороны не понятно что происходит и что дальше будет . До сих пор есть вопросы но на многие автор ответил . Здесь нет конкретного злодея и героя , порой можно увидеть что элли не может дальше продолжать это , но она обязана . С геймплейной точки зрения здесь безусловно все хорошо и даже отлично . Я бы хотел чтобы все поиграли и прочувствовали эту игру потому что только пройдя ее можно понять для себя и расставить все .… Expand

It moved where it needed to move and I can live with that. From a technical aspect, amazing. Really shows off what the current PlayStation generation can do. As for all the hate, I don't understand how people still think this way. Too much toxic fandom.… Expand

    That said based on what I’ve seen I wouldn’t call Ellie a feminist charcter. Her combat is somewhat realistic and we see her in pain at some moments in trailer - something Mary Sue characters tend to be lacking (Captain Marvel or Ray from Star Wars, for example)

    Graphics look fantastic. I love when graphics are done good. That said I played Uncharted 4 once and never opened it again. Graphics isn’t the most important thing in the game, and it never will.

    I decided not to get it. Looks like it was a good decision - important to note that most of the reviews you see here were written by critics working for left-wing sites like Polygon, Kotaku, or IGN. These people would give the game 10 only to avoid being called homophobes by their colleagues LOL

    If you are still on the fence, go and rewatch trailers - but this time assume that the game is bad, just for the sake for it. Note that the dialogues are nowhere near the first part. Try to find actually interesting characters. Think about whether or not the story they tease her is a good departure from the original.

    No way the game is 10/10

    I read reviews. Many note that the game has problems with pacing and poorly written characters.

    Excited to see Ghost of Tsushima’s reviews next month. Could be a proper finale to this generation    … Expand

    As everyone, I've been waiting 5 years for this game. The storyline between Joel and Ellie is special to me, that's what made the first game so good. I don't even know how to describe the disappointment i now feel. Way to ruin the good game, Naughty Dog.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a massive fan of the 1st game and someone who has already beaten this one. I feel the need to tell you not to buy this one. I was only spoiled the fact that Abby kills Joel so I was coming at most of the game with an open mind. So for the first 90% of the game which includes the Jackson, Seattle, and flashback portions of the game I was actually really enjoying it. I thought the combat encounters were great and the UI in the game was definitely improved from the first one. I even started to believe it might be one of my favorite games of all time. However, all that changed when I saw the ending. The fact that you let Abby off the hook and then go home to find Dina and JJ gone (which most of us probably saw coming) made me feel cheated. Then to go upstairs and get an awful cutscene with Joel where Ellie almost (keyword almost) forgives him for the events that took place at the end of the 1st game. I understand what naughty dog was going for with the scene but I just think they could’ve done it better. And it’s the rat king boss fight and the entire length of the game in total that makes me question whether I want to play it again or not. It took me roughly 20 hours to beat this game keep in mind that I wasn’t even trying to get all the collectibles, but it only takes the average gamer around 13 hours to get most if not all collectibles & upgrades in the first game while also completing the story (depending on difficulty and gaming experience). Usually I have no problem with a long game but when the ending just throws away the first 2 acts of a game it makes it feel totally pointless. And it irritates me that I waited 7 years for a big cliffhanger (if that’s what you would call it) for the next game (if they even make one) which will at minimum come out in probably another 7 years. So in summary don’t buy this game unless you want to be heartbroken that you won’t be able to see the rest of Ellie’s story for a long time. (Also if you don’t like kissing scenes don’t buy it, because there’s a lot of them).… Expand

    I finished this game. I loved every minute of it.

    I see a lot of reviews stating that if you like this game you are a simp, or if you hate this game you are a bigot...both are equally wrong. Entertainment is subjective. And it's wrong to be judged for liking something that suits your taste. I love this game because it's bleak, it's not a fairytale ending for anyone. And it talks about what would happen if we go to that dark place that makes us hurt ppl.

    The way I see it, if the first game is about a father who lost his daughter, the second game is about two daughters, both have lost their fathers and they both want justice and both take the darkest route for that. While Abby was forever changed from the violence of the first game, Ellie was trying to run away from the same violence while also fighting that survivors guilt that she didn't have a choice to save the world because of her adoptive father's actions.

    It was Abby who struck first, and rightfully so but the way it was done might not sit well with the gamers, I agree. But all of this is not happening in a world where law and order are practiced, that world is over and this is a more realistic portrayal of life during the apocalypse so it makes sense that Abby did what she did, in the way that made sense to her.

    Ellie on the other hand was just starting to make amends with Joel and was looking ahead for a new start with her adoptive dad, and it was violently taken away from her. So her anger is justified here as well.

    By the end of the second act of the game we see where their actions have led both of our characters towards, Ellie gets disgusted by her own actions after killing an innocent pregnant woman who had nothing to do with Abby except for being present when Joel got killed, while at the same time she got Jesse murdered, Dina and Tommy gravely injured in her pursuit of vengeance. This action opens Ellie's eyes towards the violence she has shelled out, and she stops her quest for vengeance. Meanwhile Abby, who after killing Joel has no more purpose in life goes on her own adventure that mirrors Joel's from the first game, with Lev, and in her adventure she looses everything, because she found the mistakes of her ways, she stopped seeing things as black and white, she ended up helping a couple of Seraphite kids, and saw the humanity in them, while it gave her a new purpose, it came at a cost, she lost everyone she cared about and the love and respect for the people who took her in after she left the fireflies. When she wants to leave the world of violence and finally understands to empathize with her fallen and weakened enemy she gets pulled back in due to the death of her friends. For a bit she goes back to her own violent ways, killing Jesse, Shooting and injuring Tommy, Almost killing Dina, but she was stopped by Lev and she returns back to her new self, and ventured out to Santa Barbara.

    But our karma always follows us, Abby and Lev get captured and brutally tortured by slave traders, and imprisoned, much like how the WLF treated the Seraphites in the start of the second act. Over here she pays for her sins.

    Ellie on the other hand still feels like she has failed Joel, and has difficulty living the perfect life she is having with Dina and JJ, she has PTSD and wants to feel normal, so she picks up her guns again and rides to finish off Abby for once and for all, and there is a cost here which is she will Lose Dina, JJ and a peaceful family life all over again.

    Ellie finds and half-heartedly tries to fight a weakened Abby to bring an end to the chaos she carries in her mind. But doesn't finish her.This last act of violence would have made Ellie completely unredeemable in her mind, she would have lost herself to the darkness and it was tempting to give in to that. But imagine she killed Abby, what then? Will she kill Lev, a kid who was not a part in this as well? This game is about costs that we and our loved ones pay in our needless pursuit of violence to get even. And it features flawed but natural human beings.    … Expand

    The gameplay mechanics are still fun, outstanding graphics, good soundtrack. I do agree that the story is not un par with part 1. Think the flashback scenes should have been done as chapter 1 and 2 before the first 2 hours of the game. 8/10

    The good: pretty graphics and solid VO. The bad: terrible what they did to the characters we know and love from the first. If it was an optional route, ala Mass Effect, then it would be fine. Forcing it down our throat doesn't fly and kills the emotional impact of doing bad things.

The musical score is decent. The game play is good. The writing is sub par. The acting is good. The story and organization of the way it was played out, ruined the game.

    I will be reviewing the story of the game from here and it will contain MASSIVE SPOILERS. Naughty Dog did a few things in telling this story that were really good and I enjoyed:

    #1: They provided excellent motivation for Ellie to go on her rampage. The death of Joel was used very much like the death of Sarah. It was a traumatic event that drove story throughout the game.

    #2: The buildup was good. The search for the people responsible for Joel's death was satisfying. Seeing Ellie throw Nora into the nest of infected and the emotions that she went through before during and after beating her to death made the game feel gritty and showed the no turning back point that Ellie had come to.

    #3: The Flashbacks of Ellie and Joel were great. Seeing Ellie learn of and subsequently confront Joel about what happened at Saint Mary's provided a solid resolution to Part 1 without ruining its ending.

    Sadly, that is where my list of positives ends for The Last of Us Part 2 and my negatives begin:

    #1: In the chapter Seattle Day 3 (Infiltration) The Last of Us Part 2 had a chance to be a very good revenge story. Had this scene been done right it would have provided a climax to the revenge plot and began the conclusion of the story while setting up the chance to end a couple of the sub plots. Instead Abby kills Jessie then says a few meaningful words and aims the weapon at Ellie only to have the scene cut and take us back to day one where we now play the bad guy. Cutting this scene in half and sticking a 10 hour gap of playtime in the middle of it drains all of the energy from the first 10 hours of build up that the story just finished creating and then to top it all off I now have to play the villain and I am expected to empathize with her? At this point I switched the game to "very light" difficulty and sprinted through each encounter. I had no desire to play the character the game spent 10 hours convincing me to hate. This was one of the three breaking points of the story.

    #2: The 10 hours of Abby. I felt like I was grinding just to get back to the Fight between Ellie and Abby in the theater. There were things included in this section of the game that were unnecessary (the sex scene, love triangle, island invasion). The scenes weren't bad they just didn't really have a point.

    #3: The resolution of Ellie and Abby in the theater was terrible. Playing Abby in this scene felt bad. I get that it was trying to show that good guys and bad guys are a matter of perspective, but my perspective was from Ellie's side and Abby was the proverbial bad guy. The thing that bothered me most about this scene was when Abby had won the fight and was about to kill Dina then (almost) out of nowhere decided she wasn't going to then threatens Ellie and leaves. So Abby, a character that spent the last 4 years of her life trying to find Joel and traveled roughly a thousand miles to kill him, finds out that Ellie, Dina, Tommy and Jessie have systematically killed all of her closest friends in 3 days time, just decides not to kill her and let her live for a 2nd time (because it worked out so well for her the first time). This was story breaking point number two.

    #4: The last breaking part of the story was after it finally seemed over, it just kept going. Ellie and Dina back on the farm seemed like the game was ending until all of a sudden Tommy shows up and now all of a he is driven by revenge. Having his brother murdered and tortured while he was knocked out and helpless wasn't enough to fully drive him after Joel's killers by itself but now that he has been physically handicapped, he wants them to pay. This is the same character that was done with violence unless it was necessary to protect the people he loved in Part 1 and even in the beginning of Part 2. Then Ellie goes to Santa Barbara to kill Abby where she decides not to because she remembers Joel at the last second then lets Abby go. So, after chasing down the person that murdered her father figure and one of her best friends, she just decides all of a sudden that Joel's memory is better served by not killing Abby. So Ellie has now lost everything and didn't even get her revenge. The plot never has a pay off and leaves a bad taste in my mouth reminiscent of the ending to No Country for Old Men.

    Overall I give this game a 5. The flashbacks of Ellie and Joel were enough for me to be glad I played, but the ending and terrible character breaking decisions afterward make me wish I had stopped playing 12 hours in. Part 2 was a massive disappointment.    … Expand

    El juego malogro la secuela, es una porquería.
    La historia se baso en la esperanza de la existencia de la vida humana. La tendencia era ver una secuela donde se lucha por salvar humanidad.
    Pero agregar tendencias LGTB donde la primera parte no tenia esas tendencia es lo que mas molesta de esta secuela, no esta en cuestión la calidad del juego, lo que esta en critica es la historia.    El juego malogro la secuela, es una porquería.

    The troll reviews are out in force - *no way* this deserves a score of anywhere near zero. It's a really good game and has a very long runtime which is awesome.
    I agree the way a certain incident was handled was not great, and it happened at the wrong time in the story, and then playing as the other character for half the game felt wrong after that.

    Graphics are freaking amazing!
    Action and gameplay is like a refinement of the first game mixed with Uncharted and it works well.
    Hard to know what's next in the game universe, or if they will end it here. Hope there is more - there is a feeling of emptiness after completing it and I want this universe's story to end on a high overall.    … Expand

    Even through the leaks, I still held hope that maybe the context from the rest of the game would smooth things over but they didn’t. Ellie feels like a shell of a character I loved. Any other character has some bipolar disorder since they change from being violent aggressive **** to your run of the mill average joe who cracks good jokes and wouldn’t hurt a fly. The story being told from Ellie’s perspective to Abbys gave so much whiplash I ended up feeling very indifferent at the end. I honestly don’t know what the whole point of this game was.
    Characters make obvious stupid decisions or are completely out of character just when we start to learn about them. And some are barely in the story at all that I feel nothing when they get killed off.
    Major sections of playtime feel empty since the character dialogue is either uninteresting or not there at all. Well except for the parts with Abby, who feels like she’s treated more as the lead protagonist than Ellie who’s on the cover of the game.
    I will say the gameplay has improved, if only slightly. The AI seems better and the level design more detailed and bigger. However it still falls flat when I can just run into a one door room and wait for enemies to line up for me to kill them. The dodge button still doesn’t feel right after 30hrs playing. At least the gunplay feels better. That’s about as much positives I can give this game besides the usual “It’s pretty and look how animated and lively Ellie moves”. Even though the characters are terrible I can at least say that the actors gave it their all. Especially with Lev and Yaras actors who surprised me the most.
    I waited 5 years after playing The last of us part 1 to completion to see what Ellie and Joel would do next. I admittedly was one of those people who said they preferred the first game to be a standalone game but I would lie to you if said I hadn’t screamed tears of joy learn there would be a sequel. 3 years of waiting learning all I could going to YouTube and twitter to listen to theories and speculations on what would happen. All that for it to be leaked and for me to see what the game truly is. For me to still buy it and feel even worse playing it.
    I never thought I would feel so empty playing a game before, ironically I hated the game in its entirety more than when I saw the leaks.
    What ever Naughty Dog does next I don’t care. They wasted my time for 3 years and 30+hrs for me to feel empty in the end, not angry(at least anymore), not sad(never cried once) not even at least satisfied. To whomever is reading this thank you for listening to my ramblings and please understand I tried to give this game a chance but if this is what you are looking for as your final decision to buy the game, I suggest skipping this one and saving your money for something else by watching it on YouTube. And if you still think I’m one of the review bombers and still are going to buy the game at least wait until the game is on sale beforehand.
    P.S. Falsely advertising this being Joel and Ellie’s story is disrespectful to your fan base and advertising that Joel is in the game longer than he actually is by swapping characters and models is cheap and disgusting way for people to buy your product    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
