    A gorgeous, perfectly written story about purpose, vengeance, loss and trauma. TLOU2 isn't for everyone, because if you stop coding homosexuality and/or mental illness and/or PTSD with literary devices such as "immune to the zombie virus" or "being a magical cursed chosen one" many get upset, but I suppose that's too bad for them, and it's not for them anyway - to quote Marty McFly - "yourA gorgeous, perfectly written story about purpose, vengeance, loss and trauma. TLOU2 isn't for everyone, because if you stop coding homosexuality and/or mental illness and/or PTSD with literary devices such as "immune to the zombie virus" or "being a magical cursed chosen one" many get upset, but I suppose that's too bad for them, and it's not for them anyway - to quote Marty McFly - "your kids are going to love it". And, to put it less gently - pathetic incels like you deserve not enjoying this fantastic game, pathetic incels like you deserve no pleasure whatsoever - only a hell of tearful outrage and whinging, forever.

    As for the rest - it is not mechanically all too different from TLOU, maybe even too much like it (with silly shivs still coming back), but it plays great, sounds great and looks incredible. The graphics, set-pieces and design are awe-inspiring, the actors are fantastic. It is a 10/10, truly.

    Still, the story is probably make or break for most, and for me it was outstanding.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part 2 is my new favorite PS4 game and stacks up very close to Last of Us Part 1, the graphics are phenomenal, the story keeps you interested, the world is immersive, the acting is top notch, the gameplay is fun, the exploration is expanded. I highly recommend this game and it is a must play.

The divide between "professional" video game critics and your "typical" gamer is appaling and surreal. That's right, I'm looking at you IGN, AGAIN. Why in the world are the ratings so polarized? Are big video game critics afraid to go against a "progressive" game that make use of "non-traditional" protagonist in fear that they will trigger some media outrage? I am convinced big video game critics are pressured into a biased approach which unfortunately renders them useless. People don't trust big companies like IGN for video game reviews.

    On a good note, the acting/voice acting was good. The technical aspect of the game was good as well. The art behind the game was amazing and stunning. Unfortunately, people don't usually play video game to stare at the amazing decor.

    On a bad note, the game's story literally makes no sense. I have no idea what the writers behind this story were thinking. I don't give a damn about the fact that the game really tried to push this "SJW" ideology onto the player. Gay, trans, lesbian, man, woman, deer, I don't care what the character identify as. It's all fine by me and its probably the case for the vast majority of players. A lot of response to this well deserve criticism will obviously be brushed off as "trans hate, LGBTQ hate, etc". That's not the case. The story was utterly butchered to the point where I didn't care anymore. The last 2 hours of the game are useless and kill the game. Even if the story was trash, It should have ended at an OBVIOUS point but it didn't. I dont understand why you guys tried to push it that far again. It didnt have to go there and it was obvious. On top of the bad story, the story telling was so disorienting. After playing as the 2nd protagonist for multiple hours, you enter a state of mind where you don't even care about the main storyline. I get what you tried to do but it practically did not work.

    Anyways, I'm going to stop here and give it a 4 out of 10 out of pity for the technical and artistic team because they actually did theyre job properly unlike others. Try focusing on a good organic storyline like you did in the first game and the rest will follow through.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am sad to say that when you write a masterpiece, there is very little you can do to add to that. This story needed no closure or additional material. But ND think otherwise.

    The writing is dire. Full of plot holes & is very sadistic. Even the characters we are familiar with are reduced to a latter glory of themselves. Joel - who used to be impetuous & take no nonsense is now a withered old man who takes abused from Ellie who is now a spoilt brat who has no morals, ethics, & seldom any intelligence left. She isn't half as likable as Abby who seems to be the better of a poor bunch of brainless girls merely reacting to digs from friends all the time, when they're not stuck in FLASHBACKS for half the game!
    Flashbacks are a result of poor writing falling apart at the seems via logic. Stanley Kubrick once opined "Don't Tell the story.. SHOW the story". Not only do they fail at both, but they are constantly patching it up with amendments in timelines which have no impact to the present story. It is tedious. A frustrating slog through intended checkpoints in order for the ending to make sense.

    It's a shame. Because I think there is no environment in which the people behind the first had any say at all in whether all their work be wiped away with a lesser game that no one wanted. Many Devs raised their voice. The concerns.. ignored.

    This isn't anything to do with sexuality or diversity. I quite like the cast, if they weren't under the strict stipulation of turgid writing. It's GOT Season 7 & 8 all over.    … Expand

    This is one of the greatest games in its generation. Candidate for a PS5 remaster.

    O gunplay é tão fluído, tão natural, os controles são tão responsivos que, que, que... Nem dá pra acreditar que isso é um jogo, parece uma CG jogável. Os efeitos de desmembramento, qualidade do áudio, expressões faciais. Meu Deus, que isso? Você pega sua espingarda e atira na perna de um inimigo, a perna dele vai explodir e o coitado vai gritar PRA CARALHO de dor. Isso é perturbador e ao mesmo tempo emocionante pra caralho. Aliás, sair nas fases de combate ao estilo John Wick matando todo mundo de várias formas possíveis e com o nível de detalhismo e qualidade gráfica do jogo é SURREAL. É coisa de outro mundo mesmo, coisa de espantar.

    Quanto ao enredo prefiro não comentar pra não estragar a experiência de ninguém, mas esperem algo FORTE e IMPACTANTE. E, como sempre, uma narrativa muito bem construída ao melhor estilo Naughty Dog.

    The visuals are absolutely stunning, the snow effects, the footprints, I love it all so much
    I sadly still found myself not wanting to move on in game, the story feels like more of a walking dead shock factor style than what tlou1 gave us, it feels like a cheap slap in the face to the original story

Some of my favorite games include, Tomb Raider, Horizon Zero Dawn , Uncharted: The Lost Legacy which all have female leads. I also really liked The Last Of Us: Left Behind, which is when Ellie was first introduced as being gay.

    On a side note, all the games I just mentioned had very positive user reviews, so the assumption that is being pushed that much of the negative user reviews regarding the The last of us part II are because of the female lead character and people not liking the LGBQT messages, is ridiculous.

    The graphics in this game are amazing. IT's a great way to end the ps4's lifespan before the ps5 comes out graphically. Unfortunately, that is the best thing about the game. The controls seem dated, and not much different than the first game. The core mechanics are almost identical to the first game (which were already kind of outdated back in 2013 but no one really cared because the story was so good), but now it just feels really dated, except for the better animations.

    Without adding spoilers, I will say that I did not enjoy the story for the most part, or the ending. Is this game a zero out of 10? No. But it's nowhere near a 10 out of 10 either.

This is exaggerated further with flip flop characters, and a lack of foreshadow plot points. Example, I see people stating is Joel may have changed. This is bad writing through because there is no display, foreshadow, or dialogue to show that change. This is a fair game, yet diminishes the first game leaving a poor legacy on the franchise.… Expand

    One of the best games of this era. i am not gonna say anything specific but if you liked the first one then this is a MUST! I respect the decision of Naughty Dog giving it a more cinematic look with a tough plot!

    The Good:
    -Graphics are awesome
    -Dog you can pet -A lot of accessibility options for people that are blind for example. -Gameplay is alright. The Bad: -The story completely drags the experience down as a whole.     The Bad:
    -The story completely drags the experience down as a whole. The new characters that are introduced don't really have or give us any reasons as to why we should care about them the same way we cared about the previous game's characters. It tries to pull off this extremely serious tone but it does it so much it reaches a point where it becomes the most hilariously absurd thing i've ever witnessed with a friend. If you're in for a great story, you are better off elsewhere as it is simultaneously unsatisfying and unrewarding.
    -The game really isn't that challenging or throws punches at you. It always feels like you're being lead by the game, instead of having the player adapt to the game's difficulty itself. There's literally a option to "Skip Puzzles"

    The Ugly:
    -The gameplay while it's alright, the maps are huge as hell, which means it takes a lot of time to really clear out an area. This can be boring if you just can't get into the game, or in my case, aren't laughing with a friend at how hilarious the prone system is.

    -The prone mechanic is broken as can be. It takes away all the challenge of stealth and reached a point to were i would fire literal loud GUNS at people and yet they still couldn't find me. Incredible.

    Its very clear Naughty Dog put a lot of effort into this game, there's no doubt about that. The way they've been going about it though in terms of arguing about it with the people online is...really bad. There's some hints of a good game buried in here somewhere, Maybe if the gameplay improved since the previous one, or if some of the story elements were changed. It's not the worst game ever, but it's certainly not good.

    5/10. A Shallow experience, that yields unrewarding results and an ending that leaves an outcome nobody really is going to like....at all.    … Expand

    What makes TLOU special? The story. There are many zombie games, killing games, beautiful games, who bother killing zombies in TLOU? It's because of the story, so when the story fails, the games fails.

    I think the game director changed his decision over the main story many times during the developing course, and eventually he did not know what he really want or to deliver (bad lesson to give a game director too much power in a studio), I am totally disconnected with the characters, I was forced to play and to connect with characters I don't give a F**K with, the story is not natural, not logical, just nonsense.

    The story telling structure is horrible, rigid, forced and senseless.

    The little trying to make an open world exploration experience feels out of date.

    The game control feels clumsy, the UI design... It sucks when you want to swap your weapon during a fight.

    This game is a masterpiece! Whoever says the oposite is too shallow to understand how deep the characters are. It's a game about consequences. From the begining till the very end.

    Don't pay atention to prejudiced ratings. Play the game, try to feel the characters' feelings. Their passion. Their anger. Their pain. After that, take your own conclusion.

Yes, I'd probably do things differently with the story, but I'm not the author. Neil Druckmann and his production team have crafted a survival game that really pushes the limits of the PS4 and the drama of interactive entertainment. Lots of fans of the previous game willA very dark sequel to The Last of Us that kicks the player in the gut and never comprises its doom-and-gloom vision. Yes, I'd probably do things differently with the story, but I'm not the author. Neil Druckmann and his production team have crafted a survival game that really pushes the limits of the PS4 and the drama of interactive entertainment. Lots of fans of the previous game will hate the decisions made. They'll complain about the finale. But if you're on board with Druckmann, then you'll experience one harrowing 30 hour journey. This sequel makes the first "Last of Us" look like a Disney movie in comparison. It is violent, creepy, morbid and filled with misguided characters that don't render any sympathy. Ellie is no longer the plucky person from the original game, but a broken person seeking revenge. The message that Druckmann tries to drive home falls a little flat at the climax, but he deserves kudos for pushing the genre. Gameplay-wise, this is the "The Last of Us" meets "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" with even more variety of the infected. It's a huge game and very impressive although some would call it more-of-the-same. But as much of a threat as the "zombies" are, they're nothing but a backdrop to the human misery. This game is more about the result of cold-blooded revenge than anything else. It has the darkness of the Negan storyline from The Walking Dead and the coldness of a Cormac McCarthy novel. Many fans will find to be unappealing, but LOU 2 is also one of the best PS4 exclusives ever made. While not perfect, I would rate it with a 10 out of 10. .… Expand

Part 1 was all about getting Ellie from A to B and set up that relationship, and had a pretty conclusive ending. Part 2 wasn't just going to be another Joel and Ellie road trip. It had to evolve and evolve it did. You hate Abby? Well that's the point! they needed to do something to take you through these horrendous emotions and they did it really well. In fact i'm happy its so divded as it just proves they did it right, its gritty, realistic, and painful. Some people will love it, some people will say "Wah I dOn'T LiKE New WanT Mor jOEL & eLLIE aDVENTURES."
    Joel is in the game a lot, and i got more character development from him in part 2 than the entirety of part 1.
    there's always going to be new characters to get used to, and these new characters were received well.... right up until "the incident".

Also, none of the new relationships matter or last, but the relationship people loved (Joel and Ellie) is killed off within the first ~ 2 hours. He and Ellie also do not act like they did, they just got dumber and make all the mistakes they taught 'to us' not to make in those cases. And the only thing driving the plot forward is bad and illogical decision making. You're also supposed to like the villain who kills Joel because it is a transgender. That's all there is to it. the character has no redeeming features whatsoever, it is a jerk through and through. The visuals are stunning though, the OST is pretty damn good, but the gameplay is virtually the same as that from a 7 year old game and the story reads like fanfiction by a transgender teen. Which I don't mind them writing, and I don't mind them being happy with their identity, but it doesn't magically make a crappy story a good one.

    You can think of it like this: If Abby was a straight man named Adam, the story would be just as dumb. The creators of the game can pretend this is about hatred of some minority groups or whatever, but it's not. They delivered a narrative mess full of plot holes, conveniently stupid characters to allow that plot and the gameplay is just so outdated. The fluidity of combat either melee/firearms, the camera angles that occur during combat, the smoothness in movement, the beautiful and disturbing enviorments, the animations, all top notch.
    Storyline-wise obviously it's not as impactful as the first, but wasn't also completely against the fact that they introduced a new character as the lead role for the most part.
    I'll admit at first I hated Abby (myself having a connection w/Joel from the previous game). But as the game continued a grew a soft spot for her. This game reminds me a lot of the ethics in 'Game of Thrones' where there is no purely good person as there is no purely evil person either.
    There are also points where I feel the scenes are made strictly for shock value, as there are incredibly violent and sexual scenes that I thought were a bit over the top. This game absolutely not be played by anyone under 18! Or anyone who is not aware of adult situations.
    The story is a real bummer. Much like other blockbuster movies nowadays "Infinity Wars, Joker, etc.", it paints a bleak picture that very much similar to actual real life. So depending whether you like the cold truth or like to escape to a better world its a matter of taste in how this ends. I definitely expected more closure, but, I guess it gives lead way into a possible 3rd game.
    Overall, the gameplay superseded the story for my rating. Amazing gameplay/graphics/tech design, bleak and open ended ending.    … Expand

    But to keep it short all the characters from the previous game are basically not the same people they were before, & that's fine but you have to write it in a way to make it make sense. Especially the ending, it was out of left field & literally made NO SENSE. so you're just left frustrated & cheated.

    I genuinely don't think the series will ever recover from this, atleast not for the original fan base, Those people who bought the original game & played that game for the story. You will be very upset & disappointed if you play this one.

    For me the first game was perfect & didn't need a sequel. 4/10.

I feel this is partly from how the story was told, with a definitive half way point definitely exacerbates how long this game feels to play.

Отдельно хочу выделить, что в игре очень хорошее звуковое сопровождение, оружие ощущается реалистично, единственная проблема со звуком и музыкой, так как от них вся комната ходила ходуном, играл у друга и у себя на телевизоре и я не представляю, какие мощные нужны динамики, что бы вытянуть нормально звук и музыку. Не смотря на то, что в геймплей не было добавлено практически ничего нового, играть в игру приятно и интересно. Сюжет довольно трогательный, есть пища для размышлений, но концовка меня не устроило. Which probably means I'm being super harsh on this. Which I am. I loved it, but it felt like a disappointment compared to the first game. Most importantly being, I didn't end up really empathising with Abby. I purposely died as her a few times just because I care way more about Joel and Ellie. Even at the end of the game, whilst liking Abby way more than I originally did, I wanted her to die. I **** loved Joel, and to barely have him in this game sucks. Although that does mean on the rare occasions we did see him, it felt nice and emotional. I get what they were trying to do - I really do. Hey look, that **** that you hated at the start is a person too! And Joel killed her dad! Feel sorry for her! But I just couldn't. Certainly not on the level they wanted me to. In fact, I felt like pretty much every new character we met I just didn't care about. Apart from maybe Owen - I thought he was written nicely. I think the way the game is played is one of the reasons why. In the first game you're Joel and Ellie - bantering throughout. Really helped build up their relationship with fun, witty dialogue. But in this, you're mostly playing as either Ellie or Abby. There are some segments where you're with Jesse, or Dina, or Lev, but they're few and far between. The first game had dialogue that was properly funny too, and the entire game felt like whilst this was a horrible world, there were moments of beauty and hope. This is just bleak, followed by bleak. Skill Up's review compared the tone and characters to the DCU, which I totally agree with. The characters in the first game had heart and character, but in this everyone is the same and just feel a little off.

    Graphics, gameplay, all top notch. Super tense, super atmospheric, and really enjoyed it. Zero complaints there, although I am surprised they teased an open world section so early on in the game only for that to be it. I feel like a semi-open world could work pretty well in TLOU if implemented right. New enemies - I get it, but it just felt like a classic sequel move. We need new **** It felt almost anti-lore in the fact we didn't see these infected in the first game, but now here they are. Probably a minor criticism there, as how else are they meant to make a sequel? I would actually say the gameplay sections felt a little too long in places. You would take out a lot of people, only for there to be even more enemies just around the corner. This meant I was a little afraid to use bullets and other consumables as I had no idea if there would be any scavenging later on. I barely used bombs and molotovs. Don't even think I used a smoke grenade once. Which leads me onto:

    Pacing. It was completely **** It just felt all over the place, across the entire game. It felt really unfocused. Playing as Ellie for three days only to then have to play as Abby for the same three days, knowing you're not going to find out what happens at the theatre felt like a big **** you. I also felt that Joel dying so early on just ruined the Abby segments as, guess what, I **** hated her. Then the end. My word. I thought California was a real nice change of scenery but at this point you think the game should be over - so it went on for too long. And we meet yet another faction - the Rattlers. What was their deal - slave labour? Was that it? We'd already suddenly met the Wolves and the Scars (which felt a little tacked on for my liking) and then with what, an hour of the game left, let's bring in another. *shrug*

    I think my main criticism though is that even though I wasn't overly keen on Abby or her story, it just felt like a lot of things in the story missed the mark. Ellie torturing whoever it was - didn't care for it. I was told this game was super brutal and violent but the camera is on her face the entire time. And she hits her what, three times? Big woop. I hit normal enemies more than that. The sections where you're with the dog (Alice) only to then realise you killed it - again, just didn't care. If Alice doesn't get killed, Ellie does. Again, I completely get what the goal was, it just didn't impact me in the way it should've done.

    I read nothing about the game going into it but obviously had heard of the whole scary trans thing. Assumed it was Abby the entire time as she was built like a **** brick **** house (which was weird, but whatever). Obviously you learn towards the end that Lev was a wife or something - but it completely passed me by that he was a she. So no idea what the manbabies online are moaning about. If anything the game didn't talk about it enough.

    So there we go. I give it a solid 8/10. I reckon if I hadn't played the first game I would like this way more.    … Expand

    Ellie goes for revenge and does not get it, We are forced to play as Abby the villain even after she kills the man who saved her life and the beloved Joel.

    It may not be the masterpiece most expected but it certainly took everyone for a ride. This is not one of those feel good games or stories and while it suffers from poor pacing, questionable sex scenes and shallow side characters this game had a good story to tell. Definitely would be one of those games that gets better as time goes on.

    La historia, vista desde una perspectiva panorámica, tiene sentido y emociones encontradas, suficiente para hacer reflexionar al jugador. El final es subjetivo y abierto, se recompensa el sube y baja emocional y crea mas preguntas que respuestas. Entiendo de dónde viene el repudio generalizado, pero no se justifica (quizá por homofobia o xenofibia)

    I don’t understand why they try to put woke culture into games. The first games worked so well. This game tried too hard. It was also very repetitive and boring.

    Great stories and very challenging game concept. Exceptional Graphic, Gameplay, Music, Cutscene, Design, Cast, Concept and world building. You can't find any game like this anymore. It a very unique, painful, fearsome and the most beautiful gaming experience I ever have in gaming. Respect

    Naughty Dog took a bold stance, like anything they do be it in graphics or story. Their agenda is to tell a story worth telling, worthy of a 40-hour long game, not a story for the sake of it. The evolution of the characters were not understood, or relatable at the start. As you play, it earns your respect, your empathy and it claws it back at every chance it gets to, break the cycle ofNaughty Dog took a bold stance, like anything they do be it in graphics or story. Their agenda is to tell a story worth telling, worthy of a 40-hour long game, not a story for the sake of it. The evolution of the characters were not understood, or relatable at the start. As you play, it earns your respect, your empathy and it claws it back at every chance it gets to, break the cycle of violence. It's about redemption, forgiveness and humanity, not personal, petty endless feud. It's different, very different, but don't dismiss it, love it or hate it, please respect the team that put this together. Like Neil said in an article: 'no one loved the characters as much as we do', do you think they'll half-arse it just to push an agenda? they are just doing it to sell enough games to keep doing it, telling a story, good or bad story. So if you didn't like it, it's fine. if you liked it, its fine. Be respectful, and be kind, if not, you've missed the point of the game, entirely.… Expand

    All the politics aside this game fell flat for me.

    Mechanics and game play were a bit outdated, Voice acting and presentation were good, Story did not line up with the first game, seemed far fetched.

    I expected more from this game since the first one was so awesome. The connection you felt between Joel and Ellie in the first game is not present here.

    This has to be one of the best written stories that I've ever experienced in a video game. This is much more than a game. It's DEEP! The action and the gameplay overall are also excellent.

    Un buen juego, lo mejor en muchos aspectos, la historia a pesar de todo es buena y terminas entendiendo todo. Aún así me caga abby XD Esperemos que hagan una parte 3

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
