    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I pretty much knew the game wouldnt be as good as the first one. But I still brought it just to see what the story is about. The first 2 hrs you get no play time as Joel and instead we get a brutal death. Afterwards it makes you wonder why Joel and Tommy were so easy going on telling them there names and where they live. And what's more is that Joel didnt do anything when Abby had the shotgun. The two are suppose to have 20 years of apocalyptic experience but get destroyed by a bunch of rookies that didnt even think bout killing tommy and Ellie afterwards, makes you wonder if they just did it on purpose just because. Another issue in the game is that you are forced to play as Abby for 10 hrs and they try to force you to feel sorry for her. Realistically you cant because her dad was a dochebag and didnt even ask what Ellie wanted and wasnt even planning on telling Joel in the first place. There was forced romance which was not needed because it seemed so outta of place and they give the women in the game to much power which made it seem that they were being sexist such as killing Jesse, Joel and handicapping Tommy. And finally you didnt even get your revenge instead Ellie wimps out and let's Abby, go leaving you with nothing. Some people might say Joel had it coming and that he was meant to die but honestly his actions are justified. He did it because he didnt want to lose another daughter he had no one else to care for after Tess was gone. And like I said before they weren't going to give Ellie a choice to give up on her life. I regret my buy has to be one of the worst games of 2020… Expand

    So the game, to tell the long story short. It’s a masterpiece and almost perfect by all means including story.
    1. The Story
    Although the story is not like any other, structure is far from standard tropes, it takes your feelings, your love to the characters and the first game and just smash you with all emotions that possible, you feel scary, pity, thrill, tension, nostalgic, happy, good sadness about the old times and awful sadness about how the life are going now and what the circumstances can do with your beloved people. All of this mixed through the game in the most unexpected way you can think of, and in many ways you even can’t thing of. I’m not spoiling anything so I will not tell you about what will happen, experience it yourself.
    Just to tease: it’s about the different truths, being blind when being led by strong emotion, meaninglessness of violence and how it’s never late to break the circle, even when you have lost yourself. This story can make you depress at some part, be ready for that, but this is done with the reason in mind. One of the best stories in years.
    2. The graphics
    Here I shall put it as simple as it is. The most technologically advanced game of this gen, just check the DF video (but please for the God, don’t read the comments)
    3. The Gameplay
    Take all you love in the first game gameplay, enhance it in every single aspect and you will get the TLOU 2 game formula. It’s THIS good. Action is faster, impact from weapons and the enemy reactions are best in the whole industry ever. You actually can choose playstyle, in case you don’t like stealth – than don’t go for it, the ND have given you the advanced settings, so you can tune it as it fits your mind, want the most adrenaline tps game ever? Fine, make the enemies aggressive and let the resources be many all around. Like to survive and hide? Not a problem too, there is amazing survival mode for you. In the gameplay aspect there is no other game on the market right now in June 24, 2020.
    Verdict
    One of the best game in this generation, it’s swan song, just like the fist one was in it’s time.
    TLOU 2 can and will make you complete crazy, in every way.

Тема ненависти (жажды мести) и последующего "прощения" раскрыта просто потрясающе. Игра вызывает сильное эмоциональное опустошение и чувство несправедливости, из-за этого многие игроки (даже те кто не играл, лол) считают что игра плохо справляется со своей работой, только вот, главная цель игры как раз и заключается в этих вещах. Особенно разочаровало меня то, что многие люди не поняли концовку, называют ее ужасной, хотя те кто хоть немного думал над историей, поймут ее, и восхитятся какую работу проделали сценаристы. Для полного анализа потребуется как минимум отличный эссеист, а на этом сайте слишком много ограничений для действительно объективного обзора, уверен что скоро мы увидим что-то подобное, а я пока пойду рефлексировать после концовки.… Expand

    I made an account just to try to make an actual unbiased review if this game. It is not a masterpiece and it’s definitely not a terrible game. Most characters are great p, but don’t get real proper endings to their stories. If you made the game shorter, and cut out the game’s last mission it would be a 8/10

    Excelent game, if you are focus only on the political, I think you have some problems with that, because It dosn`t matter in the game, the game try to be a reflect about emotions and the consequenses of the revenge. ellie forgave so late and she lost everything!...and I can`t talk about abby because it is an experience so you can forgive her.

    This game jeez! Okay the best thing about the first game was the story, and they managed to turn it into the weakest aspect of the game. Ingame songs really helped the atmosphere. Overall the game would be a decent experience, if it wasn't a follow up to one of the best games ever made.… Expand

Le doy un 7 al juego únicamente por varias razones: gráficos, que son los mejores que hay de ps4, jugabilidad, movimientos mejorados, nuevas mecánicas y paisajes asombrosos. Pero sin embargo esta opinión la comparto con la mayoría de jugadores y es ni mas ni menos que la desastrosa historia. La historia es muy mala, hay cosas que no tienen nada de sentido cómo puede ser la confianza sin sentido que tiene Joel y Tommy de unos desconocidos, también en la parte del final la cual Ellie no es capaz de matar a la que mató a uno de sus mejores amigos y a lo que fue su padre.… Expand

El juego es bueno, los gráficos, la inteligencia artificial, las armas, habilidades, etc son muy buenos, pero eliminar a uno de los personajes más importantes de la saga le quita mucho valor a la historia, le quita un cierto encanto, de igual manera la historia es buena, no es mala, pero no es como la del primer juego, le hace falta ese Joel del primer juego, igual manera el juego tiene alguna que otra cosilla que puede justarte o no, las animaciones, sonidos etc son muy buenos, la banda sonora en general es buena, pero si no hubieran eliminado al personaje principal tendría un diez de mi parte, no lo he podido acabar, pero de igual manera lo estoy disfrutando mucho y recomiendo que le den una oportunidad, no se dejen llevar por las críticas, es muy buen juego...… Expand

    Este juego es a logrado superar mis espectativas, como pueden hacer una historia de venganza en la q tu quieres vengarte tambien pero luego empatizas con el antagonista quiriendo que viva, la muerte de joel es triste pero necesaria para que el argumento tenga sentido y consistencia y los graficos y animaciones son de lo mejor de ps4

    One of the worst beginnings and endings to a piece of media I’ve ever seen in my life. Major characters that are introduced are almost immediately unlike able, and if it isn’t immediate, it happens by halfway into the game. This is only the second time in my life that I have been legitimately angry at a video game and the first time was for a good reason. I don’t know what Naughty Dog or Neil Druckmann were thinking, but this is one of the worst dumpster fire of entertainment I’ve seen since The Last Jedi.… Expand

    Not going into massive spoilers. The games was boring in a lot of areas. The collision detail was horrible. I would try to melee a enemy just to see it whiff every time. The main story was disappointing and felt underwhelming compared to the first game. Another factor in this rating was the lack a multiplying experience online. Nothing will ever top the last of us for me, it has been my favourite game since it came out, and part 2 although not beating it, holds a place in my favourites. To be frank, I also was one of those who wanted 450 hours of Ellie jokes and another 100 hours of Joel singing sweet nothings through my screen, but this game instead put me down an emotional, nerve-wrecking, anxiety driven journey that I didn’t think it ever could. And I loved it. Don’t get me wrong, I too, also screamed profusely rude slurs toward Abby when that golf club made impact on my favourite characters head, it sent me down a raging path, I’m not saying I purposely let Ellie kill me 29 times before deciding I could not change what was already in the game, and I took my fate and I cried my way through beating Ellie to an ever loving pulp(I’m sorry).

    Of course I felt the need to stop playing when I officially had to be Abby. My rude awakening happened when I had to realise that it’s a game, and the creators of the game knew exactly what to do, and I got back to it. I couldn’t believe how much I wanted her group to perish in fire, it was like naughty dog had placed me under a demonic spell of hatred, I loved it. The game was well paced, the story was beautiful in all its bloody glory, I cried, laughed, closed one eye when those wretched little stalkers ran along the floor. But I loved it. Most of it. Personally, I’d have loved a little more with Tommy, considering both Ellie and Tommy wanted the same goal, as we were always a step or two behind him, I’d have liked to see him within a few missions. The premise of the game seemed to allude itself. With the objective to seek revenge after watching Joel get clobbered to death. Why did Ellie allow her to chew her fingers off like some cannibal and then call it quits? She left Dina after Tommy came to call her out, and she sets out once again travelling to finish her, and again, does not do it. In regards to Abby. It took me a while to feel like playing her was a chore which is sad. I just felt sad, to leave it on that cutscene, was she going to kill the rest of my favourite characters? Would Tommy tickle her ankle and Ellie would slap the gun from her hand? All these thoughts, yet there I was standing in a building with Abby, absolutely clueless as to how her adventure to the theatre concluded. But then I could throw balls to a dog, and I spent an unregretable amount of time doing so, and the balance came back. (No honestly, why did she get to have the dogs on her side? Do you know how many of those good boys I killed?) I never really had the connection with Abby but my lord did I understand her character. The realism in this game was out of this world. Humans make choices everyday, and some choices have bigger consequences, and this game it showed. And that’s what I loved. Every character had a motive. An unwillingness to let go of someone you loved. A justice for a death of a father. Justice for a dead brother. Each reason, brought consequence. And everyone paid a price at the end, like humans do. It’s so easy to side with Ellie, we played a full game with her already, we understood Ellie and Joel. We felt like what they did, was all right. And then Abby comes along, wanting justice for the murder of her father, and suddenly we are conflicted. We are stuck within the grey area of view, where right and wrong is skewed. It’s a perfect game, it’s raw, brings the emotional integrity of the player to all new highs. I wish people understood the masterpiece properly, to stop thinking about the political side, of the sides shifting, of anything that doesn’t resemble your way of thinking and just play it, understand it.    … Expand

    The story was NOT good. The pacing was all over the place and a lot of the time situations and emotions felt awkward and forced. For example, there is repetitive focus on pregnant ladies (one of which was heavily pregnant and would not have been able to do half of the stuff they were doing). Once or twice would have been fine, but they put three separate cases into the story to try to force emotion.
    There was also way too much focus on the new protagonist of Abby. I understand why the creators wanted us to sympathise with her, but after a main character's death was shoehorned in for shock value, I had no care for her or her colleagues. I would maybe have cut down the gameplay with her to 4 hours as it just became dull and repetitive when I was already lacking an incentive to care about her side of the story.
    By the end of the game I just felt empty and disappointed. Not in the lack of resolution but in the way they had taken what had been so fantastic about the original game- the characterisation and narrative- and completely forgotten all about it. I found it extremely hard to finish the game.    … Expand

Но, ряд откровенно неудачных решений (в первую очередь Эбби как персонаж) и откровенноеПередовая графика и анимация (в рамках возможностей PS4), шикарный звук и озвучка (русская локализация выше всяких похвал), великолепный, напряженный и разнообразый геймплей, отличная атмосфера, классные диалоги и в целом очень качественный сюжет, а так же еще много, много, много всего хорошего... Но, ряд откровенно неудачных решений (в первую очередь Эбби как персонаж) и откровенное проталкивание СЖВ повестки без знания меры и границ разумного не даёт этой игре получить 10 балов. В целом: это отличная игра, достойное продолжение легендарной первой части, но, увы, спорные моменты ставят крест на возможной культовости 2й части в будущем.… Expand

The story is well constructed and it is more than a game. It is a life experience. I recommend it to everyone to buy and play, because it deserves to be played. For me, a great catch is that we can see good or evil in each of us, and that revenge can lead us to do bizarre things. Furthermore, it shows that there is no absolute truth. The game shows that the truth and the right depends on the point of view of those who lived and observed the game events. Both protagonists believe they are right of their reasons, and both believe that the other side is the bad side. Congratulations @naughty_dog_inc on the game. Looking forward to a part III… Expand

    I thought the game was really good. I can understand why some people are not a fan of the direction that the developers took with the story. When I got Halfway thru the game I was like "What the Hell!!" But in the end I still enjoyed it. Really upset that this game is getting a lot negative user reviews. If I thought the story was garbage, then I would of at least given it a 6/10.

Half of the spoilers you heard from people are fake. There are no multiple endings. Only one of the big spoilers some of you probably heard is true. The gameplay is a fantastic upgrade from the first game. Unique weapons, additional crafting, upgrades, and dynamic open ended gameplay keeps the game fresh and not as on-rails and repetitive as the first game. No floating pallets to push around, so we’re good. The ending is very, very good. It left me feeling remorseful but understanding of everyone involved. By the end, the message on the cycle of violence, the lasting effects of trauma and suffering were delivered on a deep and effectual level. the game is visually stunning, barring a few visual hiccups. The game only crashed once on me, on PS4 Pro. The action is gruesome, fluid and satisfying. Melee combat is no longer two dimensional. Gunplay has this quasi-realistic, gritty and lethal feel. There are segments of the game that give a tense survival horror feel. The second hospital visit is terrifying. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the first game. Scoring: Visuals: Stunning. 9.5/10

Antes que nada es una lastima que haya personas asi, cuando quiero comprar un juego siempre miro la opinion de los jugadores, esto por que creo que es mas veridica (hay muchos rumores de que ciertas companias sobornan a los criticos) pero veo que no es asi. Personas que a las 3 horas de que haya salido el juego ya estaban calificando esto con notas como 0, 1 o 2 sin haber ni siquiera terminarlo.     Ahora con el juego:
    La historia de the last of us, aunque no es perfecta, sigue siendo maravillosa. Los personajes tienen un arco que supera a muchas series de televicion. Ellie recorre un camino en busca de venganza por la muerte de joel. Pero no voy a contar mas que eso. La banda sonora sigue siendo increible, con una mezcla de los clasicos con canciones nuevas, todas con una guitarra o un banjo. En resumen suena increible.
    Los graficos creo que son otra de las maravillas que nos ofrece este juego, por suerte uso auriculares pero aun asi podia escuchar el ventilador de mi ps4 a punto de estallar.la jugabilidad es el punto bajo de este juego, si bien no es mala ( aunque a decir.verdad es bastante buena) no propone casi nada nuevo mas que las mecanicas de sigilo.
    El diseño de niveles es bastante parecido al primer juego durante la mayor parte: llegas a una zona elevada-ves el lugar donde tienes que ir-bajas y matas a todos los de la zona hasta que pasas a un lugar inospito-cinematica. Y asi la mayor parte del juego.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start this off by saying that I wanted to like this game. I was anticipating its release for the longest time. When it was postponed the second time, I was beyond sad. And when we got a new date, I was so damn happy. I wouldn't shut up about it when speaking to my friends, I kept saying that it would be the greatest game ever made by any company. When I got my hands on it, I was terrified that bad things would happen. I was unaware at the start that we would be lied to by the developers. How were we lied to, you ask? Well, in the trailers we were led to believe that we would be on an adventure with Joel again after all of the years of waiting. We would be getting revenge together for a common disturbance that needed to be rectified. But no, instead of Joel and Ellie speaking in the present, we only see flashbacks. In the teaser trailer, Joel grabs Ellie from behind and when she asks what he's doing here, he says "You think I'd let you do this on your own?" This is one of the main reasons I bought the game in the first place. After his death, we see this same scene again except Jesse is the one grabbing her from behind and saying the SAME EXACT LINE that Joel did in the teaser. In the "screenshots" released, Joel and Ellie's present models were used to make us think we'd be on an adventure with him again. But no, in the game the scenes were just flashbacks. What they did to deceive us, in my opinion, is unfair and heartbreaking. I feel utterly betrayed.

    The story itself is built horribly, making us sympathize with the one who killed Joel. They even force us to play as her. IF we didn't have to play as her, if we had to find her and kill her, the game would've received a way different rating. The story still wouldn't be good, as I personally would've done Joel's death way different. Abby's character and motive to hurt Joel would've been more demented, instead of killing him.. kill someone he loves in retaliation. Say... Tommy. His character at the end of the game was a broken man anyway. If Jackson ever got compromised, he'd surely die with that horrible limp and impaired vision.

    Ellie's decision to let Abby go in the first place is completely pointless. Many love to raise the argument that she did it because "revenge isn't the answer". Well, if that's the case, how do you justify what Abby did? She murdered Joel. Plain and simple. Joel did what he did out of love for Ellie, and Abby did what she did out of love for her own father. Why is it bad that Ellie would want the same thing?

    "I'm gonna find . . . and I'm gonna kill . . . EVERY. LAST. ONE OF THEM. Except for the one who killed my father figure. She gets to live!"

    Makes absolutely no sense to me.

    Here's my final thoughts:

    If you leave a character with less than they started with, or with nothing; then you went absolutely nowhere. You took one step forwards, then two steps back. Ellie lost Joel, her stable relationship with Tommy, Dina and the baby, and her ability to play guitar(which was her only way that she could feel connected to Joel). Having her walk off into the woods makes me thing that Naughty Dog is considering a third game, and I hope they see this.

    PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A THIRD. Your writers have already destroyed this story.

    TLOU 1 is mostly player centric game, where characters "knows" what they are dealing with are good or bad guys. Many people carries the expectation into the sequel. But the second game's behavior neglegates their expectation.
    TLOU2 explores the change of people. When peaceful life kicks in, when people are getting older, what will change them. It is really hard to accept this change, or shift.
    I have to admit TLOU2's story needs improvement. Some of the characters' story needs a big more digging. In general, I don't think there are plot holes in it. Especially after I finished the entire game and saw the cut scene, I reallise: OK, this game is not trying to teach me anything. It is just a story telling game. Whether people's choices are right or wrong all depends on your judgement. However, you, as the player can not control it, because it is other people's story.
    Maybe I am getting older, I can understand their choices and have the sympathy on Ellie and Abby. I will give this game a 9.

But after taking and going that way till the end it all makes sense and it can only fullfill all its strength of storytelling by doing exactly that. You are playing hero and bad guy at the same time.

    What can I say about the score. I just love Gustavo Santaolalla s music.     I think this game made a lot of bold choices. In my opinion in the end everyone is only human, not killing machines. I think that showing both perspectives gave a really 3D image of the situation. This game will make you uncomfortable. Some people hate it, which I can understand. The graphics and gameplay are top notch however, and really elevate the game. I will say if you are squeamishI think this game made a lot of bold choices.     I don't think I need to say anything that hasn't already been said. The development behind this game was corrupt, and the finished product is only passable from the hard work of the developers, but even then is butchered by higher ups

Don't really care about the LGBT stuff, whatever. It was kinda shoved down my throat, so obviously wasn't my favorite thing. Everything about Abby is actually stupid, literally everyone hates her.     Finished the game in 25 hours on the medium setting. Technically the games amazing, can't fault the graphics, sound, or mo-cap. Story the game had a lot to live up too, and fell at a couple hurdles. If you don't like dark and violent stuff give it a miss because those are turned to 11. The game handles some topics very well and nothing feels hamfisted or forced. Not perfect but still worth a play.

    Great game,I was waiting for this game with a lot of anxiety,it made me excited on many occasions, the story is beautiful, I don't understand why it is so hated, the ending has upset me, in a positive sense, highly recommended

    They improved a lot in the gameplay making it feel more organic and fun and that combined with the amazing graphics make for a pretty fun game at surface level but people are not mad at this but at the story History: Yes I hated how they killed Joel, I wasn’t spoiled so the shock was real I really wanted to kill Abby I really wanted to kill her friends and Ellie wants it too so I’m in for the ride and then we start playing as Abby, I was mad at that moment I didn’t understand and then they show her life and how’s herself is like Ellie a girl that wanted revenge against the guy that killed her father, the exact same thing that Ellie wants, we can all agree that Abby is a monsters, but she start to rebuild herself as human again helping those scars kids, and she herself become someone of a Joel for lev, and if Abby is a monster for killing Joel what would have make out of Ellie to kill Abby? A monster plane and simple, as Arthur Morgan sayed revenge is a fools game... But that doesn’t mean that the game is perfect something else that I didn’t like about playing as Abby at the beginning wasn’t just the fact that I was angry at her but also that we start all over again with just a gun and a rifle and playing as Abby doesn’t ad things to the gameplay also I think that Abby backstory gets a little bit to longer and we even start to forgot about the Ellie half so I really think that this could have been done better but still is a pretty **** good game    … Expand

    While the story was a little disappointing the gameplay and atmosphere was incredible and overall the last of us part 2 is a pretty good game.

A game with this this kind of plot and interaction has nothing do with politic ideals, sexual agenda, a new male-girl that we are forced to play or a cliché cycle of revenge already used in thousands of games and movies. But then Neil Druckmann choose put aside the the greatest strength of this franchise - the relationship between Ellie and Joel - to bring all of those LGBT+ progressists things and a nihilistic plot, just to "subverting expectations". It's simply frustrating. In the end, everything feels forced and overly depressive. Now I just want to erase that second part from my memory and pretend it never exists.… Expand

Ye I like the gameplay played on survivor and the ai actually has brains and **** story in this **** I like seeing the two perspectives and I guess maybe I like the balls and it could be taken as dumb as playing the character that killed the main character of the last.Abby to me personally grew and I saw her humanity doesn’t mean I like her but I get it.Also guess they got their goal with how divisive this game is.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To Start my review I wanna adress the issue of the hate this game recieved. The game in my opinion has a good story it has a lot of twists and unexpected deaths like Joel’s. The ending is also very criticized because of its ending, in this aspect I do agree, the end doesn’t have a lot of sense because Ellie doesn’t care about anything but getting his revenge no matter the cost but in the ending she forgives Abby who killed Joel and lets her go and that doesn’t make any sense! Apart from the ending I think is a very good story and even made me cry at times. The game play isn’t a walking simulator because in almost every zone there is action and when there is no action the game lets you explore Seattle like in day 1 where you can explore downtown Seattle and rewards you for doing it with supplies or collectibles. The combat is also very good I feel that it’s very realistic because when an enemy sees me far away and I try to kill him with my knife I get shot multiple times until I die or I run away, maybe it’s because I’m very bad at the game and I don’t know how to evade bullets, also when you take a lot of damage while crouching down it can even knock you down, another part of the combat is the stealth and this part makes me very nervous when the enemies are infected, the stealth is easier than the first because you get a silencer that helps you to kill enemies silently faster than the bow except for when you play as Abby because you have a crossbow and it’s like a gun but with arrows.
    Apart from all of this the scares actually scare me even though you can count them as cheap sometimes

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
