Sound, Ambient, Music is just top Perfect for The Last of Us.

The (HORRIBLY) Bad: The story, and this is BAD, its a narrative game, the story is the most important thing.
SPOILERS, Joel is killed by Abby, a new character, she is the daughter of one of the surgeons Joel killed in the first game, okay, she seeked revenge, but the writing of the story lets her do it so easy it's disrespectful to the character of Joel, he and his brother acted dumb before Joel's death, and Abby does it so early in the game, well thats the way the story starts, pretty **** but well, oh wait, the game forces you to play as her, and let her get everything she wants, oh she wants to beat Ellie and her girlfriend even though they are our favorite characters, and what's even worse, Ellie even when she nearly dies, killed all of Abby's friends and boyfriend, and encounters with a weaker Abby, she doesn't get her revenge, she doesn't kill Abby, Abby didn't even wanted to fight, and still got away, again Abby gets everything she wants despite us the player hating her for what she did to Joel, what an disappointing ending.

What they did to Joel and Ellie is just disrespectful to the character, how they changed them to a completely new and horrible character that is Abby.

It breaks my heart that I have to give this score to the sequel of one of my favorite games, If not my #1 favorite game.

So here is my honest thoughts about this game. No this game is not an 3 out of 10, but it also is not a 10 out of 10, and here is why. Alot of people like to say this game looks great, but I think the faces look weird and out of place, especially compared to Uncharted 4, I do not know what it is, but I think it might be the mouths are too big. Sound is really good. Gameplay is the same as Last of Us, it has not really changed much which can be seen as a good thing or bad thing depending what you think. To me 7 years in the making and if the gameplay does not really have something new, then you might have to reevaluate what you used your time on. I mean Uncharted 4 had alot of new things, and they used less time to make it.

Story, so yeah the writing is really bad, and I mean the dialog. Whoever wrote this need to learn how to write dialog, every female character feels like it was written by a man that has no idea how women act or react in real life. And I am one of those guys who rolls his eyes when I hear that sentence by other people, but here it is so obvious it is kinda crazy. These characters feel like they are a parody or a fantasy version of some guy inner dreams on how women should be, and it shows.
The story had a very weird structure, for some it might be a good thing and for others it might be good, for me this story structure has been done before better so it really is not that big of a deal. The core story itself on the other hand has too many plot holes, as well as it feels fake, simply because the characters feel too fake to even exist.
This game forgets how real human beings really act, and also how young people behave in real life and is in my opinion a work of fiction in both reality and humanity. The gameplay is repetitive and it shows after hours. In my opinion this game is 5 out of 10.

I was never a fan of the last of us.... it honestly felt like a chore to get through the game to finish the amazing story... the last of us 2 refines and addresses some of my gripes.... it's a beautiful game.... the controls are solid... the story.... well.... its ambitious at best, and shallowly cliche at worst. It still feels like a slog at times... and the narrative just wont stop beating you over the head with the idea that violence is bad...

The graphics and the gameplay is mostly on top of all ps4 games till now. The story is not bad and no masterpiece. To have full fun with the game you have to accept the feelings naughty dog punches you in your face. If you can’t accept the second story part and can’t get any connection to Abby (like me) prepare yourself for 12 hours of good standard shooter. When I had to rate the game to this point it would get 9/10 but after it and the last part of the game that feels a bit like filler I can’t give the game more than 5 points. Many story parts feel forced and don’t make sense.

I totally respect the risky way naughty dog went with this game but I think it doesn’t work out. After a few days since completing the game I think it was a cool idea but they chose the wrong franchise and ruined some of the best characters in gaming history.

I think it’s not fair to trash the scores but it’s also not fair to say the most bad reviews are from trans- and homophobic users. There are many reasonable critics which only critic the game itself and not its agenda.

After playing The last of us part 2, how to say the game looks beautiful to the graphics of the landscape to the flow of water in a river and the sound of the game is top-notch to the point that it rivals Hollywood quality in terms of the environment sounds to voice actors playing out there scenes. Now what they got wrong was that the story was not as good at they initially hoped. The killing off the main character everyone loved, introducing a strong female protagonist to replace joel... I like to point out that the game used to be about the zombies but now it seems like the only story that's worth telling is one that rivals The walking Dead but what's 0 pacing. I went through so many flashbacks I literally lost count. At the end of the game I didn't feel immersed , I had to take long breaks just the process the story decisions and direction.... This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Heart-breaking for all of the wrong reasons, the story of TLoU2 is an objective downgrade when standing in contrast to the first game.

Perhaps the most pronounced flaw with the story of the TLoU2 was the writers completely abandoning the main themes of the first game to instead spread an invasive message of female protagonists forcefully replacing beloved male characters to fit an agenda and revenge leading to nothing but further destruction and ruination.

This is not what the Last of Us is supposed to represent as a narrative. The themes of the first game included Guilt, Loss, Acceptance of One's past and most importantly, the theme of Hope being the main driving force of the entire game. The bleak atmosphere present within the first game simply served the purpose of enhancing the previously mentioned themes, yet, in this latest instalment, the bleak atmosphere completely engulfs the entirety of the plot in a shroud of perpetual darkness and depression.

it is quite obvious that this sequel does things for the sake of being different rather than for the sake of elevating the story to never before seen heights. The prime example of this would be in the form of Joel's unearned and needless death. Evidently, the writers had desperately tried recreating the shock value of Sarah's death for the first game, with the 'clever' twist being the daughter figure witnessing the death of her father figure right in front of her eyes. However, this just comes off as being cheap and unearned. You're telling me that a hardened veteran such as Joel, the same person who sensed the Hunter ambush in the first game, would be dumbed down to such a point that he would follow an armed stranger into their home which in turn would have himself and Tommy surrounded by even more armed individuals, without even having a firearm ready? No, I'm sorry but that is just lazy and betrays the characteristic of Joel being cautious and highly vigilant no matter the situation. The player feels anger and frustration rather than shock and sadness, as they had to bear witness to one of the best written characters in video game history receiving perhaps the worst death of a main character period. Moreover, Joel was brutalized by an unrealistically muscular woman wielding Driver Nephi's Nine Iron from New Vegas.

The writers then expect players to endure 6-8 Hours playing as the roided out female who massacred one of their most beloved video game characters. No amount of subliminal 'Good-Guy Propaganda' could ever make Abby likeable in my eyes. I didn't care that she was petting puppies and helping save Zebras with her dad, the only thing I cared about during Abby's part was speed running past it so that I could continue to the actual story that I care about. The sad truth of the matter is that Abby could have been a strong secondary protagonist, however, the death of Joel at the very beginning of the game made her irredeemable. Only idiots, psychopaths and paid stooges in suits pretending to be valid, unbiased critics would actually enjoy playing as Abby and sympathize with her, which is such a shame considering that I could tell that Laura Bailey was giving the part her all. The writers should honestly feel ashamed.

Being brief, characters completely abandoned their characteristics which they had attained and defined during the first game, for the simple purpose of the writers feeling lazy when thinking of ways to accelerate the already paint-dry slow plot-hole filled story.

The saddest part of all of this is that I expected a lot better out of Druckmann, and I know for a fact that his talent when it comes to writing could have easily made this game an actual masterpiece rather than a colossal failure in the eyes of the general consumer. The evidence for this would be arguably the best parts of the game, the flashbacks. In my opinion, most, if not all, of the flashbacks were 10/10 and masterful in explaining the relationship between Joel and Ellie. As a matter of fact, these flashbacks were the only time in which I smiled throughout all of the game. What a shame and what a joke that the game did not follow these flashbacks instead of this horrifically stitched together plot.

Furthermore, if this game was meant to honour Ellie, it fell on its face thrice over before land sliding off of a cliff. Ellie gets one of the worst and most undeservingly dark endings I have ever seen in a video game. She loses everything she cares about, even being incapable of playing the guitar properly at the end of the game. I found this egregiously disgusting especially when Abby got a happy ending, mirroring the end of the first game where a now deflated Abby and Lev act as the new Joel and Ellie, sailing away into the sunset.

I understand the ending with what the writers presented, but Ellie sparing Abby is like if John Wick spared the person who killed his dog.

In conclusion, this story was mercilessly crippled by forced identity politics.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well. After playing for about 23 hours i can finally review this game. Killing Joel in such a heartless and rushing way was something which i can't and won't forget. . As he went to the city in Part 1 with Ellie by car, he instantly knew what the hell was going on, as some random people apparently needed his help. You could argue that after 4 years you get lazy and start to trust people more. But it's Joel: A character who is very stubborn and wants to avoid any risk at any costs, so it's not very likely that he would change even a bit. Playing Abby was no problem for me, even if she was the killer of Joel. But nearly half of the game? Damn. No way. In addition the game tried to make the player emotionally attached after killing Joel. I can say that in my case it showed the absolute opposite. I had literally no emotion left at all because all i waited for 7 years was torn apart after not even 2 hours in such a horrible way. Scenes in Last of Us Part 1, which still make me so emotional and makes me nearly cry till this day; while playing Last of Us Part 2 i felt nothing. Absolutely nothing. After debating if the game is good or bad, i decided to do neither of it. So it's a 5/10. Rest in Piece Last of Us. I will always remember your first part as the only part, which remains my favourite game of all time forever.

Those are the good things about the game.
But what is really sad is the writhing for this game. Joel's death was done in a stupid and lazy way, forced for the story to continue. Using the argument that he stayed in the community left him "less suspicious" is inconsistent, it is not because he spent 4 years in a community that made him "forget" with the outside world. He has experienced many things during 24 years of survival, and knows what human beings are like in the outside world. He would be just as suspicious as before, as he now patrols a community, so his instincts would be the same in the first game.
Another point was that everything was very convenient during the scene, because exactly at the moment when Abby will almost be killed by the infected, Joel saved her from that situation at the last minute, and he and Tommy went straight to meet her group, and being comfortable in their presence during the scene, besides Joel being in the middle of the room, surrounded.

The game was sold as an adventure by Joel and Ellie again, the trailers were even edited to think about it, and at no time did we see Abby in any of the trailers. the company knew that the public would not like to hear that the story would be about Ellie and Joel's murderer, Abby. We don't wait 7 years for that.
Even showing the background of Abby losing her father, to feel sympathy for the character, it did not convince most players, as well as me, because Abby is a psychopath, and here are examples of how the game shows her with her actions in her darkest moments:

1 - Shoot the knee of a man who saved her moments ago, using a golf club to beat and torture him for a considerable time, and kill him in front of a girl who is begging for his life.
2 - After discovering that Dinah is pregnant, she doesn't think twice before trying to cut her throat, just not committing the act because Lev prevented her.
3 - Cheating on her friend Mel (who was pregnant) having sex with Owen, and showing zero remorse.

Ellie, at similar times, shows much more humanization in her reactions:
1 - Upon hearing Nora offend Joel, she beats her in a brutal way (also to have information about Abby), and moments later, she is totally shaken after that event.
2 - After killing Mel and discovering she was pregnant, Ellie has a panic attack, falling to the ground and hyperventilating, showing herself completely traumatized and making it clear to the player that she would not have killed her if she had known this before.
3 - Ellie apologizes to Jesse about kissing Dinah, and the relationship begins without containing a betrayal.

There are a lot of plot holes in the game, such as Tommy letting the map in the floor so that, in the narrative, Abby would find it.

In the end, Part II had a great potential to be one of the best sequels of a game, but fails miserable in the story telling of such a beautiful story that was the first game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll start off by saying I loved the first Last of Us. It's in my top 20 of games all time. The last of us part 2 however, was a struggle to get through. When it comes to the last of us it's all about the setting and the story. I debated whether to give this game a 4 or 5 and I decided on 5 in the end. It all comes down to how the characters were portrayed mostly. The gameplay is ok but not an improvement from the original. I don't agree with people giving it a 0 for the review simply because they dislike the story. I dislike it also, but you have to take into account the whole game. Visuals and Music were top notch which is where all my score went.

When it comes to the story it was utter garbage. Joel and Tommy don't act like themselves, Which leads to Joel's death. You're also forced to play as Abby, the character who murdered Joel. Abby's justification for killing him is a good one, however, it's been 7 years with Joel and Ellie. Playing and replaying that story and being attached to those characters. Being forced to play with a beloved characters murderer sucks. I couldn't relate to her at all because I was so pissed at her. I wont spoil everything but the ending leaves a lot to be desired. It is for sure a mixed bag that some people will like and some will hate. I'm in the latter. If you really loved the first last of us and the characters of that game I would avoid this game at all cost. Think of it like star wars. Originals were great, sequels not so much.

Amazing graphics and decent game play, however it is similar to the first game, but personally I felt the story severely lacked and with it being a story based game, the scoring took of from it is much greater. I also feel that Joel had to die but I feel that the way it was executed did a disservice to his character despite his flaws which ruins the relationship us players built up about him from the first game by killing him off in such a painful and horrible way. Despite the message the game tries to convey about revenge, it also misses out on the point of justice as Abby got away with all the terrible crimes she committed herself. Fundamentally killing a beloved character off in vein will never make something successful unless it is executed properly. For example, Joel could of died saving Ellie and Abby could of seen this as justice to her own pain but also forgiveness as she sees the man she hunted do something selfless which conveys both a message in revenge is wrong but to also forgive people when the try to do the right thing which in turn shows development in Abby's character as she changes her ideal of revenge. But instead of this we saw her commit evil actions which makes us hate her even more when we play as her. Expand

How in anybody's mind would think anyone would want to play HALF the game as Joel's KILLER!? And not only that, they took out the amazing multiplayer because they wanted to "Focus on the story?" Not only is the story a slog to get through (except playing as Ellie) we don't relate to Abby or her **** unfunny ass friends which all seem likey **** people mind you. They're just seems to be no real honest direction here and it really shows in the end product. There is no desire to play through the game again. This was suppose to be ELLIE'S story, not some two sided story mess we got. Although the locations are great, (even when playing as Abby, the island, the skyscraper were cool locations) it just has bad pacing. Abby is about to shoot Ellie then for like 12 HOURS we have to sit down and try to relate to Joel's killer? For what? Why do I care about Abby? I think her design is cool the way she slams down on her enemies with a hefty "thump" but she feels poorly implemented in the story and to try and make us the players who journeyed with Joel and Ellie in the first game sympathize with her? It just does not work, and it does not. Man I can't believe they cut multiplayer for a mediocre story. Expand

Llevo 5 horas jugadas y me está encantando. Mucho más que la primera parte. Y además los gráficos son geniales. La historia me encanta. No entiendo por qué tanta crítica negativa. Estoy segura que es por aparecer personajes LGTB. STOP HOMOFOBIA.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
