    Save yourself the pain of having to play 12 hrs as "Abby" this was really sad to see and experience, you threw this amazing franchise down the toilet in a really ugly way.
    I really can't imagine people brainstorming and discusing ideas sitting in a room actually telling themselves this story arc was a good idea.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game came out after 7 years of waiting. After telling one of the best stories portrayed in a video game drops the **** ball. The death of joel was almost enough for me to not want to play this game but I still gave it a fair chance. I thought what was clearly going to be a revenge story was still going to be great even though one of the best complex characters Naughtydog gave us was dead. Boy was I **** wrong. Besides giving us no true conclusion to the story you as a player are almost forced to like someone you clearly cannot. After Ellie goes after Abby to get her revenge you you as the player are forced to see the same techniques and tropes from the first game played out between Ellie and Dina/Abby and Lev. You see Ellie take the place of Joel wanting nothing but to get the job done while Dina tries to bond with you and almost make light of the entire journey youre on. If that isn't enough Dina plays almost no point in the game besides being a liability to you. She goes on the trip knowing full well she is possibly pregnant. She even states that shes at least a few weeks late on her period. If you know that you could possibly be pregnant why would you go on a trip where you could possibly die? Granted she does have this connection with Ellie but that connection isn't nearly strong enough for her to go on this revenge mission. Once she is outed as being pregnant she just stays in the hideout while Ellie goes alone until other characters join along on the revenge like Jesse. As the game progress's Ellie gets closer and closer killing every friend of Abby's only to decide not to continue after her because they don't have a lead. Throughout the entire time youre playing as Ellie you get flashbacks of Joel and Ellie together. Them celebrating her birthday or showing how Ellie now knows how Joel lied to her about the Fireflies and there being no cure. All these moments do nothing but spur you on to get your revenge for the Father that was taken from you. After deciding to give up on revenge out of nowhere Abby and Lev appear at the temp hideout and youre thrust into playing as Abby. Youre forced to see why Abby wants her revenge so badly. How Joel killed her father the doctor who Joel shoots in the operating room. This moment alone couldve been a great driving force in Abby's character but instead you're shown what she's done after killing Joel. How she's working with WLF and all theyre doing. You're forced to see the dynamic between Abby and her friends and honestly you just see how bad of a person Abby is. Besides sleeping with her ex who is already dating someone who's pregnant with his child you're forced to watch flashbacks of them together. I really wanted to know why was I forced to do this? All the energy I had up until this point is thrown away and now I'm just sitting here not caring about Abby and any of these other characters. As Abby is doing her job with WLF she gets captured and is saved by some Scars. After narrowly escaping death multiple times she decides to have a change of heart and go back and save them. After going through all these challenges and dangers she finally sees how her all her friends are dead, her and Lev go after revenge now. They make it to the hideout only to have her kill Jesse, almost kill tommy, beat Dina within a inch of her pregnant life and almost kill Ellie. At this point the story shifts and Ellie and Dina are now living in there lil happy home with their baby on a farm. You find out that even though they seem happy Ellie still can't handle what has happened to joel. She gets one last chance on revenge and she gives it up, SHE GIVES IT UP AND LETS ABBY GO FREE. If this wasn't a slap in the face the game ends showing that Ellie and Joel were going to try again at having a relationship, at being father and daughter. The scene you're shown is the night before the game essentially starts. You go off on this revenge story that is utterly pointless and worthless to the player. There is no lesson to be learned about revenge, there is no conclusion to help the player move on. Ellie just goes off now all alone back into the world. I love how Metacritic and Neil Druckmann didn't care about the reviews thinking this was just people basing their reviews off of Joel's death. It wasn't Joel's death that made this game bad for me it was the lackluster story with a bad ending that did it for me. The fact i'm forced the play as my enemy would have been ok. But the fact you try to make me like her is a **** After she kills Joel why should I like Abby? Should I like her because she saves a trans child and takes them under her wing? Hell no she's still a poorly written character who can't stand on her legs. Throughout the entire playthrough of Abby's story all I could do was see why Abby as a person is someone I couldn't be friends with. After waiting 7 years for a game I thought was going to be amazing it turned out to be a complete waste of my time.… Expand

    What a terrible follow-up to the first. Anyone who leaves a positive review is paid off. AND WHILE THIS SITE IS STILL ACCEPTING NEGATIVE REVIEWS THEY BLOCK NEGATIVE REVIEWS AND FORCE THE GAMES RATING UP. IT HAS JUMPED FROM A 3.4 TO A 4.6 IN A WEEK.

    i loved the first game and thought it wrapped things up perfectly. When i heard a sequel was in the works I had my doubts but was open to experiencing a continuation or even a new adventure.

    However as familiar as the atmosphere was with its highlights, it failed to deliver an emotional immersion as the first one had. It felt empty.

    However, in this game we have a lot of flaws, the character that is suposed to be a hero is one of the most hated (Abby) because the story make you first hate her to like her after, and to work on this you have to play 10 hours of abby and you're still traumatized by the first scenes.
    In gameplay terms is the same of the last game, that doesn't has so much appel as the story. In overral , the game looks like a visual tech.    … Expand

    Seems like making a politically correct videogame these days is more important than making a fun, enjoyable, coherent game. You can compare this sequel to Tokyo Ghoul Season 2, it has almost nothing to do with first season because it just jumps ahead in time, it tries to make you care for a new nobody character and has unnecesary cuts in the main character plot that we do know and we doSeems like making a politically correct videogame these days is more important than making a fun, enjoyable, coherent game. You can compare this sequel to Tokyo Ghoul Season 2, it has almost nothing to do with first season because it just jumps ahead in time, it tries to make you care for a new nobody character and has unnecesary cuts in the main character plot that we do know and we do care for. I'm not saying that you don't have to play this game, but you might want to get a refund after doing it. In this aspect TLOU2 Is pretty comparable to Warcraft III: Reforged in terms of how "well" it does his job at giving us hopes and dreams just to be crushed by unfinished works and promises that couldn't be delivered. So to summarize up I just wanna say ND=Blizzard+Activision.

First I like to talk about its gameplay, The gameplay of this game is extremely good, it is aesthetically pleasing to eyes the sound quality is great and the visual looks good, the stealth mechanic and all the other aspect of this game regards to gameplay mechanics is simple one of the best.
    but when it comes to story this game is nothing but a blunder and because of this I am rating this game a 0/10 because a game like last of us in which it feels and looks like a tv series or a movie, Story is all that matters and if the story sucks then the whole game is just trash.
    now where should I begin there are so many flaws i like to talk about but I want to keep this review as short as possible
    First I'd like to talk about Joey, the main character of Last of us part 1 In which he was portrayed one of the intelligent character but in last of us 2 What The Hell happened it became a duffer of some kind and a character as great as his dies just like that? thats not acceptable. now coming to the revenge part of this game, After joey death Ellie wants to take revenge on every single person who was responsible for Joey death, so what she does? she goes on a hunt kills everyone who was witness to joey death and were responsible, she even kills a pregnant lady but when it comes to abby the main culprit behind Joey death she chooses to forgive and let go because revenge is bad?
    I mean what? did I miss something? all that buildup only to push a cliche narrative(revenge is bad) that does not even make sense in this scenario since she has already killed a ton of people even a pregnant lady at this point. this is Dog******* story design.
    Now I'd like to address the politics this game has how it looks like just a SJW propaganda, when you add too much content based on gender identity and sexuality in a game thats when you ****** up because games and comics are a way to escape from real word problems and to relax, so when you start adding gender politics in games and comics thats when you will face extreme backlash because nobody gonna like these things in comics and games especially when it is against their narrative and you start shoving it down to their throats. It was a post apocalyptic world, there was no need to add such things you could cut these things and the story would have been better and maybe just maybe you wouldn't receive a backlash and a permanent stain to your franchise. I don't know why you felt the need to add these in the first place? was it to please the LGBT community or to piss off the gaming community and laugh at their faces?
    If it was to please LGBT community then it sad to say you've done a pretty bad job because this game is getting a backlash even from people who identify as gay or lesbian.
    and if it was to piss off the gaming community then i'd say you've done a fantastic job because you sure as hell pissed us gamer and it never ends well I mean just look at the score we gamers have given.    … Expand

    As an avid golfer, I don’t get why a 1-iron isn’t used when it would be the obvious choice there.

    As LGBT+, I would say thanks for the representation, but no thanks. We are portrayed with the nuance Jerry Lewis showed Asians in 'Still Laughing’. As someone who has sexual relations on a regular basis, I can only say ‘ouch’ for poor Abby.     After I finished this game. I am full of disappointment, like wtf is this? Why did I payed money to play this **** This game is full of nonsense. I don't understand why so many people are defending it. People finds harder to say they are wrong than pretending like an idiot. What a disappointment after waiting for this game for 7 years.

People call it review bombing because they desperately need to have a "progressive" game to look at and feel represented by. Make something good and if it happens to have gay characters and such then great, you know like the first game.     Gameplay- About the same. Moving things around to get from place to place replaced with jump. Story- Pretty much uprooted the first game, put into a fire pit, and burned.

Not only that, but the concept of "circle of revenge" and the redemption of Ellie doesn't make any sense in a post-apocalyptic world where everyone is just trying to keep their loved ones and themselves alive, specially in the context of Abby.     另外比较反感把LGBT元素放到游戏中，逼着玩家承认某种倾向的合理性。
    游戏就是一个娱乐项目，不要想多了。
    装模做样的故事情节。

    Absolute best graphics and the sound design is flawless... BUT... The Story... I mean... I really want to just forget. This is some Disney Starwars and GOT S8 level writing. Furthermore they force you to play as a character that you hate. I think the graphics should make up more than on point in my rating but having this story this is not possible...

    This game manages to take its predecessor’s uniqueness and trample on it. Repetitive gameplay and clunky controls plague the game, shock value is inserted for cheap affect instead of building likable characters, and the moral ambiguities of the previous game are nowhere to be seen.

    Horrible story. The graphics are great. It has nothing to do with inclusion, but the story is laughable and very frustrating. I can't feel sympathy for characters despite the pointless story trying so hard to get me to feel sympathy for enemies.

    Loved the first game! Cant believe they destroyed this franchise that had such good promise. We play games to escape the real world not deal more with it. I hope they figure this out. Sadly I'll never buy another entry in this series. Terrible story. Looks amazing. Though graphics wise.

The ending is a disgusting disservice to the efforts of the player and leaves beloved characters in a depressing and hopeless scenario whilst characters hated by the fan base are set up for a sequel.
